Hello everyone! I got my girlfriend into the game a while ago, and I am looking for duos that would be a blast to play and that complement each other well.
So far we have been having the most fun with our Arch/Kin corr and Stone/Stone brute combo.
With GR in mind, what 2 ATs and powersets do you think would go especially awesome together. -
Quote:Not trying to be mean or start anything, but why do you view them as harmful, whereas other people see them as an incentive to stay longer and keep their account active?I'm famously against Vet Rewards. Especially City Traveller and the many costume options locked away behind Vet Rewards. I believe Vet Rewards - especially those specific ones - are actively harmful, not helpful, to the community and game's bottom line.
I know I have kept my account active during a month or two I wasn't active just so it can be applied towards vet rewards. -
Every single one of you missed the point. Some of you got so upset that you felt the need to insult me and send me harsh PMs. One of you even concluded that I was a wifebeater. Truely a great way to contribute to a discussion and a community!
The point I was trying to make was simply "It does not SEEM as populated as it used to be and it is kind of disheartening." I used to be able to log into Guardian and see costume contests in atlas 24/7, people flying around and just chilling on rooftops. Now(or i may just be unlucky) I hardly see any people in atlas. NOT saying this game is dead, or that this game is dying, but the population is so spread out between servers, zones, factions, and with GR coming out the population is going to be spread out even more is might be disheartening to NEW PLAYERS.
I love the game and have been playing since Issue 4, got my girlfriend into it more than a year ago, and will probably stay with the game til the end.
Maybe I'm missing something, why did my original post deserve hate messages? -

Hello all, this is not intended as a "merge teh servars!" or "this game is dead" thread, but it really saddens me to see the emptiness on some of the servers. I recently moved my toons over to freedom because there was just not as many people on as there used to be.
I remember logging on Guardian(and any other server) in the i4-i8 span and seeing a populated atlas park with costume contests every day and a search full of level 1s through 50s. Now, a whois shows 3 people in atlas park who may or may not be AFK.
I am afraid that when GR hits there will be more people spread out and when new players hit the game they see it as a ghost town, think nobody plays, then quits.
I luckily found a great SG on Freedom, but was visiting my characters on other servers and it pales in comparison to what Freedom is like.
Some people make statements like "But we like our servers less populated" which is usually followed by paraphrasing a 15 year old spamming in a popular zone. I'm sorry, but I don't believe that you actually like being one of the only 14 heroes/villians on your server at that time. I can understand these people that make these statements are defending the game and reassuring themselves, so I do not hold anything against them.
Question: Is there any word if the devs will be offering free server transfers again?
Idea: Instead of a server merge, maybe a box can show up with a rough display on how many people are active at that time when you hover over the server name with your mouse. Something vague like Heroes online: Over 1000 and Past week: Over X. That way new players can make a better judgment on what kind of populous they want to join. Combine that with free server transfers(or lower the price..I'm not exactly hurting for money but $10 seems a little excessive) and you don't have to risk new players thinking CoX is a ghost town, or old vets thinking everybody left.
I was just wondering the general consensus is about all of this, or if there was any official word from the devs. I know somebody made a statement that they were very happy with their subscription numbers, but it honestly seems like there are less people playing now than their used to be. -
Finally got it to work guys, thank you for the help.
Turns out W7 was detecting my monitor as a generic non PnP monitor because I was using a DVI to VGA adapter(monitor only has HDMI and VGA input). So once I used the DVI to HDMI adapter W7 was able to recognize the monitor and display the correct resolution. -
Just a FYI these settings worked when I had XP installed.
-
Quote:In Menu -> Options -> Graphics and Audio -> set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 (Desktop) (or there abouts) click Okay, then exit and restart CoX and see if that works any better. If that fails, please post a CoH Helper log.
Yeah that is what I tried, and I am at work now, but will post when I return home. -
Anyone know the fix to this? New computer, tried booting up CoH to 1920x1080 and it gives me the error:
"Resolution 1920 x 1080 not supported in fullscreen mode. Defaulting to 1024 x 768
Windows 7 64bit
GTX 260 with newest drivers -
Quote:What is it about CoH that is different from other games?A quick look at Price Watch shows that GTX 260's are around the $200 mark: http://www.pricewatch.com/search?q=GTX+260
Radeon HD 5770 is around the $160 mark: http://www.pricewatch.com/search?q=R...5770&gallery=1
That's not a "little" less. That is a LOT less. Also, the 5770 can drive Ultra Mode all details (sans Ambient Occlusion) maxed in 1920*1200 with in-game 8x AA.
Just from doing a quick review comparison on the 5770 and the GTX260 for games like Crysis, Just Cause2, Fallout, it seems like the 5770 falls a tad short to the 260.
The 260 also comes with a free game and movie. -
Looking at buying a PC with this hardware, does anyone have any Input on how this would handle Ultra mode?
GTX260 896MB
Intel Core i7 2.8 Quad Core
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64bit -
I prefer Widows, mainly because leveling a soldier from 1-24 is the worst experience in the game.

Thank you for looking. This is my frist attempt at a budget NW build, can anyone offer advice?

Quote:I think I disagree with pretty much everything. I love Scream, Psi Nado, Confuse, Scramble Thoughts(even though it has a long activation), and I love being able to hit anything and everything with CT: O and the +tohit toggle.
Edit : Silas's guide is at http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...99#post2872599
I don't agree with it 100%, on teams AOE trumps single target damage IMO but it's a decent enough guide to them.
To the other poster: I did not have mask presence...I didnt even take it and I was still able to get over the softcap on all positional defenses without using any LOTG.
EDIT: Oh, and I think vengeance is entirely skippable. -
Do you have a link to the guide? I did not find it in the Guides and FAQs section.
On my fort...
I worked out a build in mids that had Melee and Ranged softcapped with AoE being WAY over the cap. I was able to do this without ML. Was wondering if I screwed something up because I did it using pretty cheap sets.
The advice in particular I was looking for was if Mask Presence necessary if I don't have any powers from the widow branch. Also if Darkest Night from the epic pool was as good as the Darkest Night from DM. -
Why are 90% of the forum topics about crabs/bane/huntsman? In my experience I have been having a lot of fun with my Fortuna and I was looking through the topics to get some advice but they are trumped by the amount of other topics.
Leveling a solder from 1-24 was one of the worst and unfun game experiences I have ever suffered through. The crab legs are...annoying especially if you have a dual build with something other than crab.
Is the soldier branch really that more powerful than the widow branches? -
I would like to recommend a fortuna.
You have single target damage, AoEs, Control, Team Buffs, and it is relatively easy to softcap with IOs. -
I was wondering what everyone's strategies are to start a character build. Whenever I try to start one on mids it just seems chaotic and expensive and takes forever and I still end up getting nowhere.
-
I would get acrobatics, put in a low(ish) bid for a recipie, and if you happend to buy or come accross one, respec out of it.
-
Ventrilo is still an all around better program.
