I am from Europe but started on Victory when the game came out and will be staying there, since we have a very active European Supergroup.

Me, well kinda. When the game came out the only serious MMO I played was Everquest 1 and I played a Rogue there so I wanted to play a Scrapper of course. I couldn't get into them though (I hated it that I could not hit mobs when they were running), so I started (surprise) with a blaster (AR/DEV, still sits at lvl 48) and then went on to Defenders, then Controller and now I am really enjoying Scrappers and Brutes. I don't get to play my Scrappers and Brutes often though, since people always want more Debuffs/Buffs on the new stuff

Silas, you might want to update (in your traps guide) that it doesn't suck anymore to be a defender, because of Scorpion Shield, since you can switch sides now to get it.
Great guides, I really enjoy reading them and my Traps Corrupter is one of my favourite 50. -
Quote:I have a Veat, I just didn't bother and turned hero as soons as I could ;pRun a VEAT.
Don't expect there to be a storyline. You might as well PL (well, after level 10 and getting your first non arachnos costume.)
When you get to 50, wait for the exceptional crap that is the cutscene in your "yay, your 50, go beat up states" mission. -
Quote:Oh well this sounds horrible indeed. I always asumed it did not have a backstory.

Quote:I think 2 -res powers do up the damage!Because they have no synergy together. Ice needs a debuffing secondary to make up for its lackluster damage, And Sonic is just Resistance version of forcefield that falls short of it's cousin. Making that combo is just asking for trouble, however if your one of those adventurous crazy people, then go right ahead

Ok, if that is the case, then I am with you. Now the big question: Is the story behind proliferation ingame or where did you read about it? Because I missed it.
-
Quote:And that is the excact reason, why it is so hard to write a story that actual makes sense for an MMO. People demanded powerset proliferation, we got that and now we complain about the story behind it? GreatYou think?
Go read the storyline explanation for powerset proliferation, then come back, suitably chastised. -

Quote:I am happy if there is a nice story, but I am not flipping out and checking if it really makes sense and if the timeline is right. After all, it's just a game. So I agree with you.I am reading a lot in the forums about how people do not like this storyline or the continuity doesn't make sense because this contact shouldn't have knowledge of this or what not.
When I play, I just "go with it" and enjoy. Often, I am not even aware of the storyline, just the objectives. Am i riding solo here?
Please don't think I am asking others to feel like I do. I say enjoy the story, get frustrated at inconsistencies, whatever. All I am saying is that I am not there. -
Quote:I totally agree. Loved the days when some places were crowded, and I am not talking about WW.Gee, lets eliminate every place where players gather in a public now. Well I guess only losers who don't belong to a SG with a completely furnished base will gather there now.
Anyone else miss a city full of heroes (or villains)? Flying, jumping, porting or simply running about to and fro. Giving you an opportunity to make friends or scope out neat costumes and names? It's a flippin graveyard now as it is with the exception of WW/BM and tailors locations.
Hey lets just give everyone all the contacts cell numbers up front so you won't even have to travel to see them ... EVER! Make it a vet power.

Poison Gas Trap
Trip Mine
Acid Mortar
Phantom Army
Hail of Bullets
and I love the sound that all the Ice Powers make. I remember when the game came out I saw an Ice Controller using Frostbite in Perez Park on large packs. I was so impressed -
I have to vote for Victory, lot of nice people there.

Quote:So true, totally agree. Aggromanagement was the key! Oh and you neede to know the pathing of mobs when you were pulling....Once upon a time a game that, in it's time, was the biggest MMO out there (Everquest) the primary tanking class had the LEAST agro holding ability of all other classes, and it was everyone else's job to NOT pull agro from the primary tank... Furthermore, it was very common to find yourself in a situation where to over agro meant you died, and the team wiped (because yes, they actually needed you to do something you were doing... ie: healing/buffing/debuffing, crowd control, etc).
Having "grown up" on that game and still holding the paradigns it established, it really irks me anytime I hear people blame others for you pulling more agro then you can survive... heck... in that game, if you agro'd something you couldn't just run away either... the NPC's would follow you forever until you exited the map, and they ran just as fast as your base speed... *suddenly feeling nostalgic for "mistmore" and the constant "train to zone" shouts* -
Traps! What Celestyna said. And Trip Mine for "debuffing-but-still-nice-and-explodey combo".

I think the problem with blaster is, that the devs forgot to really adjust them to the game changes they made. Back when the game came out it was like range = defense because most mobs did not have ranged attacks. It was City of Blasters for a reason. They said Scrappers get shields in their secondary because they need to be in melee range where they get attacked. But now that all mobs have nasty range and mezz attacks I really think that blasters vs scrappers are unbalanced.

Quote:This! I totally agree and can confirm this is working very well.I'd move the Ill/Rad into the LT killing position; it still packs a lot of damage and is perfectly capable of killing the uncontrollable LT's reasonably quickly. Take the blaster/scrapper role in that portion of the trial instead of the controller role and I think you'll have a different outcome.
-
Rolled an AR/DEV at launch, since I liked the concept. Figured out that blaster wasn't for me. She hit 41 in Issue 1 and then slowly crawled to lvl 48 during the years and still stuck there : )

Quote:... Which means it isn't actually must have ;PThe first 20 levels fly by, I don't mind putting something off till 8 for hasten :P And yes, I put it on auto at level 6 so I never have to think about it again. If I don't put it on auto right away then I have the problem of trying to save it for the exact right time, which means I'd never actually click it >.>

Very odd, since a lot of powersets get more usefull powers than hasten at lvl 6. Plus setting it on auto at lvl 6 is ..... strange?
