hahahaha nice find, so all those years of being greifed was in the name of science? Got to love it, he really was the forefather of droning, those who do it now are just not as funny as his were, and then he would say something that made no sense afterwards yet it was funny. [censored] lol
Edit: And he got paid for greifing, that's priceless in itself, book royalties, grants and such. People used to say he was a kid with like add or something, little did they know he was actually smarter than most. Especially getting paid to pvp literally and make it in the name of science, that's brilliant [censored] lol

Smarter than most? Thats a rather bold conclusion. He is certainly crafty for finding a way to make good coin from playing CoH, but I'll draw the line at an intelligence comparison.
[/ QUOTE ]Well under normal circumstances it takes years of school to be a accredited professor, so unless we all have doctorate degree's under our belts, my BA was hell to achieve. So i didn't say anything past the obvious, don't be offended, if you too are a professor studying in human mental behavior and sociology than i applaud you too. As i know such a thing is a great undertaking in patients and school time. It's all good. -

That doesn't make stalkers the bogeyman, or death incarnate, but it does make them very easy to play.
Nothing you stated is mutually exclusive from what I've said.
[/ QUOTE ]Easy to play, very hard to master is more like it, and that's the difference. I can sit and argue about other AT's it's all on your learning curve and everyone's is different, so this is very subjective. Example el chido only fights when either unstop or DP is up he doesn't need both, but as long as one is up he'll come out. Bruce leroy only comes out when elude is up, i knew a few blasters who only came when their sg emps were on. My point is defensive advantages isn't enough to label a AT easy mode. Because like ppl mention time and time again it is alot of noob horrible stalkers in zones, so by your own logic if it were so easy they wouldn't get wrecked and look like well noobs.
Now i will grant, they are only at risk when they engage(most times) but that is where the skill level of the different players kick in. I see some that only attack when it's a gank like jackel, i see some that only KS for a living, then their others that will wreck you, call out coordinated targets and die once in a blue.
My first pvp toon was a scrapper to me easy mode far more so than any stalker. Then after i learned the mechanics i graduated to my first blaster(easy mode pew pew), after getting bored i went defender (still easy when learned) and lets not get into my 1st perma dom omg lol and when they first got pff oh btw speaking of pff, blasters could also chose when to fight when i13 dropped blasters and doms were gods. But even though elusivity has been nerfed pff+aid self still enables the ability to choose battles.
Since i have been playing this game ppl have been crying about stalkers, and yet ignoring all the other AT's that do various things. Most vills don't run perception, most heroes run some form of stealth, get the pattern? This would imply that most heroes in most encounters can in fact chose when to fight. I'll use myself as an example my zone stalker is a regen my ladder stalker is a wp, in zones i can't see squat, We get no QR so unless i go staminaless, you have to drop a travel power to take perception. I tried it that way and didn't prefer it over just being blind 60% of the time, especially since heroes run thermals in zones, i also tried the one travel power route, but found it to be hampering when chasing someone with multiple travel options.
Now lets look at this realistically, People are running fotm's on both sides, so using this we discover since veats were nerfed to hell no one actually runs them except for nostalgia. So that being said vills only have a few options for +per toons and sadly even some of those are not really good for pvp anymore.
Wp on brutes is lol, and only works good in fightclub, Stone(haha) dark(weee) the current fotm fire is blind as hell and getting +per hampers you worst than not having it. Sure you could seek FA but on a end heavy set like that, you won't fight long indeed.
Stalkers, they nerfed all the defense sets, so /nin and sr are just for [censored] and giggles. So the zone is mostly reg(blind) or wp.
So to wrap this up every AT has advantages and disadvantages, it is what it is and we all have to get over the fact stalkers can chose their battles, because those who can't as well as them have other tools to compensate bottom line.
Those who can't have other tools to compensate -

Now read this part carefully, maybe get your mom to explain it to you because I think you need it:
-If a stalker is fighting more than ONE person by themselves they are taking an unnecessary RISK. Hence no stalker ever has to die unless they get careless.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is really the whole point that some of us are trying to make. A Stalker only ever has to die when they allow it to happen. No other AT has that luxury. There can be 100 heroes at capped perc bouncing around a zone with just 1 Stalker, and that Stalker need never die unless he chooses to do something that allows that possibility. And no, I'm not talking about just hanging out in the hospital. I'm talking about actively moving throught the zone completely safe and unattackable. Will you get kills doing that? Maybe, maybe not. That wasn't the point. The point is that the Stalker is virtually immune to defeat so long as he chooses his battles wisely. Again, no other AT in the game can do that.
I know this whole discussion is upsetting to some people, and I'm sorry that pointing out the truth has been so painful to so many who thought they were good Stalkers. Making decisions that get you killed doesn't make you a bad player. It happens. It just makes you a bad Stalker.
[/ QUOTE ]Ok as a stalker user from i9 to now, team ladders, to zone, DR free to well you know, i figure i have learned a bit. And from my experience their are actually people out their that will find ways to circumvent what you think you know and will get you sometimes. What pvp are you guys playing? People play this game just like you, and learn to do what you say they can't.
I can't speak for the little servers any longer because all my vills are on freedom. But in case you didn't know, with DR, squishie resist, hyber, phase, hoarfrost, team mates, stalker as nerfs, accolades, your not just going to walk up and two shot anyone past warburg. So this being said, instead of a 3 sec encounter wam bam thank you maam. You just might need more time, and in using this time, you allow the help to come, or a passer by to join the fold, or them to gather themselves and fight back.
Now here's the choices, 1)stay regardless and just make sure he dies before you, 2) run and wait for who knows how long to find someone alone again, 3) come to the forums and speak nonsense about someone not being cautious enough. And i'm seeing a lot of the latter.
What's the point of pvp'ng if theirs no chance of dieing?, that's not fun, most of the joy is beating the odds in encounters. But that aside, you people act like theirs no outside forces that help attackers these days. First and foremost, AS went from a 6x scaler down to a 2x scaler, that is a significant nerf, it has lost over 60% combat effectiveness, next squishies in rv are running at 40% resist to all or better. So your AS will get in, but your follow up with be extremely hampered. So lets do some rough math a blaster running at anywhere from 1300-1600 hp, your AS fully slotted and i'll even throw a proc firing off, with BU on is going to do what? 800? 900? ok we are looking good, he can only have 600-700 hp left. Umm what attack does your stalker have besides AS that's a consistent 700damage? I have both em/ and elec/ stalkers and i don't have any and both my stalkers has billions in io's invested. Sure a lucky TS can, but that's no guarantee and wait... what is the blaster doing while you are following him up? He's clicking hoarfrost getting his whole life back, turning and kiting away while firing off salvo at you awaiting his team to join in battle. Or he's clicking hyber, going to team chat coordinating your death.
Pvp is not black and white as alot of people make it, it's to many variables this makes it gray. And you make a point that a stalker is the only at that can chose battles and virtually is immune to defeat. What pvp are you in? are you still playing i12?
I defy you to get 3 of your buddies and kill el chido, he's no stalker, and while your at it kill most pb's that fight from high above out of visual range and just run off when you notice them, because their fly owns yours and your flight pack. Bottom line any AT built right can achieve, this stalker only status you seem to think exist. Did you know most villians that zone pvp don't even have perception? I sit sometimes, for hours and just check peoples builds from time to time just to see what others are thinking, or maybe something i may have missed that i think wouldn't work, but someone uses well. And i swear id say almost 60-70% of people i check don't even have one +per power in their build. So simply having invis makes you a stalker to them, my old elec brute has no perception, just couldn't fit it, tight builds and i used to always watch blasters disappear out of hyber like magic.
So bottom line, don't fault anyone's style, everyone don't have the patients to wait all day for kills, so it's no right or wrong. Some days i can rush a pack of heroes get kills and escape, than other times i die instantly risk versus reward. -

Nothings more exciting to see, than beating a blaster to within a inch of his life only to see him click hoarfrost and heal his entire life back, than his team assembles on your position and suppresses you to death lol. Or it could be server tick you to death the lag on freedom lately is ruthless, click something and it seems to go off 2-3 sec after the fact.

Yeah nothing more exciting then beating a stalkers [censored] only to have him placate, pop greens, then hide off into the sunset.
The lag you speak of is just horrendous. I was killed before i even knew i got hit. But if you call support they will most likely blame your equipment. tell you to check this, check that, replace the battery in your wireless mouse because you obviously didn't click the power, blah blah blah.
Not once will they admit issue 15 broke the internet LOL.
[/ QUOTE ]Well i have a top of the line Alienware, that worked perfect until i15 lol. And also my connection is awsome, and as long as i play anything but heroes i'm good. And as long as i play during non peak times im good, like as i write this post im good, but later im going to suffer. -
[ QUOTE ]
LOL!
That's just wonderful.
Also, the lag is seriously driving me to the point of wanting to cancel. Because my game is flat out unplayable. 3-5 second delay on everything I do, and half the time it doesn't even activate. And my internets are perfectly fine other than this game.
[/ QUOTE ]It's not just you, it's even worst if i get to close to a group, but it's only during peek times for me. If it's not real hectic i can still play, but after two silly deaths i took today that normally wouldn't happen i gave up for today lol. I was fighting this blaster on my stalker and he had like 10hp left, i pressed ET, seen the wheel start spinning, but the animation never started and all of a sudden he had full hp, and his whole team was around me out of nowhere, i swear it's like they beamed in like startrek. I see all this red battle damage on my logs but i'm at full hp, than i clicked phase to make sure, than it asked me did i want to hosp or go to my vg base hahaha. So after that one i was demoralized enough to watch tv and forum hop tonight lol. -

The problem here is that apparently the people who did not like the I13 changes are a minority. I've been told that including PMs and feedback (both positive and negative) on the I13 beta boards, the number of players who like the new system was greater than the number of players who didn't, by more than a two to one margin.
I'm going to go out on a limb and make the assumption that most of the positive feedback (i.e. "things are way better now than they used to be!") came from people that didn't PvP much, if at all, before the changes. My question now is, where are those people? I'm not seeing more people in the zones than I did prior to I13.
[/ QUOTE ]
To compound on this, because I've been thinking about it quite a bit:
They say that they got more positive feedback than negative over the PvP changes. Having no reason to doubt that (it was said that most of the positive feedback was in PMs so I can't dispute it), I think it may be something like this.
* It seems as though a very vocal minority did not like the PvP changes. Coincidentally, that minority also happens to be the group that spent the most time PvPing (i.e. people who spent most of their in-game time in the arena or zones, either on live or on test). This is at least somewhat backed up by the fact that not one person I've talked to who participated in I12 PvP in any great amount prefers post-I13 over pre-I13.
* The "silent majority" that prefers post-I13 PvP over pre-I13 PvP... who and where are they? To me, it seems likely that the ones who prefer the new PvP were those that tended to always be solo in zones and didn't like teaming. It also seems like those who prefer the new PvP were those that very rarely ventured into a PvP environment under the old rules, didn't do well, and instead of trying to PvP more often and learn to work with the system, simply gave up. Are these people now spending more time in the zones?
The problem here is this: the people that spent the most time PvPing before the changes did not like the changes. Those who PvPd on occasion - some like, some don't. For those of us who PvPd a lot under the old rules, we seem to have a consensus that post-I13 PvP isn't nearly as fun as pre-I13. In regards to zone PvP, there's really nothing we can do about that because there is no way to adjust options on-the-fly as there is in the arena. That's why those of us who are still around for the PvP should be pushing for arena options. Now, I'm aware that more options is not necessarily a good thing, and the existing options have caused quite a bit of a split in the higher-end playerbase. That being said, every checkbox we can get that will get us closer to being under the system we really enjoyed would be a step forward.
[/ QUOTE ]Also to add to what mac said, by the devs taking such a cavalier approach to dealing with the situation, not only did they drive the ppl who actually enjoyed the pvp, aka the diehard pvp users. These so called pm pvp enthusiast are not even pvping now. Before these changes even a small server like triumph where I'm originally from had a faithful pvp base. Triumph used to be like a family server, i swear you like knew everyone on the server it seemed, it could be compared to a small Midwestern town.
Yet even though it was small, there were a few very skillful players to learn from there. Later alot of us branched out and did test ladders. Then these changes hit, supposedly for the casual users, but as it stands alot if not most of them don't even like this incarnation of pvp so they don't pvp even still.
My once thriving small server lost most of it's vets, and those of us who stayed moved to freedom, to actually pvp, save a few that stayed and hates the shear size of freedom.
This melting pot is a flop, they won't admit it but it failed, we new this would happen in beta, but we were ignored. They decided to take the easy route instead of really addressing what the issues were.
Instead of dr'ng us all, to make certain builds more viable, why not just buff those builds in particular? Instead of mez resist, why not just make BF's last a bit longer? or something anything but that silly resist.
But as it stands, we are still, those who these changes were made to please are not. Because if your a casual pvp'r, it doesn't matter what is done to the system your going to still be a casual pvp'r. The devs dropped the ball alienating their long time pvp player base the way they did, and as a result... those of us that stayed are still paying in the form of our friends left, great competitors left, overall numbers diminished, and really thats the only thing DR actually accomplished it diminished our pvp player base considerably. -

One of the instances of Pocket D was like that during the 5th Anniversary event on test. Everyone was saying "there's PvP in Pocket D on test!" and I was like "Meh," but I didn't find out until a few days later that it was I12 rules.
[/ QUOTE ]See here's where i have a problem, first is that a bug is way more fun than the actual pvp we have and i'm sure many would sign off on playing with the bug intact. Next for the devs to do a i12 event, indicates they know we want our i12 back, yet they spite us on purpose, by not atleast giving us the arena option which that shows they clearly have the power to do. -
It does how ever make sense, they won't do it but it does make sense. You shouldn't be accurate running by someone at 200 miles per hr,that's why shooters in real life are stationary for the most part, if you think about it two moving targets, going in vastly different directions, at different angles, different heights, yet still have all that acc is a bit off. And if it used to be, in the game than it wouldn't be impossible to go back to it, and why didn't castle think of this before DR and all the other stuff?
And damn, when pve'rs cry stuff gets done, that's sweet... pvprs never get heard we just get implementations and a take it or leave it attitude. -

Nah, I was in GMW when it existed. Haven't really bothered with joining SG's since then, since I pretty much just do zone PvP.
I've been out of town on vacation for a week, so I haven't been around. But I should be back in RV tomorrow.
Also, lol at the baddo changing his forum name, that's awesome. Next thing we should expect is him actually changing his blaster's name too. Then again, it won't help. Really bad blasters kind of stand out.
[/ QUOTE ]Ahh i asked because i was on a team duoing with dawun on his stalker daevilwan? i think he spells it. obviously we both chose what we thought could win,
[/ QUOTE ]
Not nearly accurate. I brought 8 toons that could beat your psi. You screamed, "no effing way!" to 7 of them, then you *CHOSE* to fight the sonic/therm (which might have actually been a good fight, I was sufficiently handicapped with only SO's to give you a chance), and then you swapped to a different toon, lmao. At that point, I could have stretched the punchline out further and brought an entirely different lineup that could have beaten your sonic, but I just knew you would have refused to fight any of them. At that point the joke that you are had gone on long enough.

Ravens - I do enjoy seeing the logs, but like the others mentioned, it really doesn't prove anything.
It's not like that AR/Dev blaster was any real threat.I can't remember the last time I've seen full auto used in PvP other than in a joke video where they were demonstrating camera spins.
[/ QUOTE ]Thats was only one attacker, the AR and damage is damage especially for a regen you eat everything anyway save the 10% resist i have. So it's all binary if a pb has a attack that says it's supposed to do 300 damage it will do 280 to me. But that aside it was 9 others in the stretch that go some in before i got away. Now mind you they consisted mostly of pve'rs, it was about 30 all together, they must have gathered at atlas for some AV badges.
That's the relevancy of my original line of thinking, up to 9 foes got shots in it was scrappers, tanks, other blasters, a heavy, I'm standing on caltrops so I'm totally visible and killed them in the open and made it out.
Now the supposed reason this new pvp was introduced was that the ppl that didn't pvp constantly, or was just casual couldn't compete with those who did. So they didn't pvp and if they made it a bit easier for them they would all come. Also the biggest quote unquote turn off was how a vet could just come do his/her will and skate off with his/her Superior movement skills.
So my exercise was to show that ability didn't actually change, but actually it's a tad worst off. In that brief span i was on caltrops, being beat on, had rad debuffs on me, and was slowed from a cold defender, and held. I had all that going on and still made it out.
Now can anyone who used to pvp say with all that going on, that in the old pvp i12 system you would get out? Oh i left out the part about me having zero inspirations on me meaning no BF's and no ability to make any.
So even if i was able to phase and run off in slow motion, i was green so it's easy enough to see the green guy running off at like 2 miles an hour. When a defender slowed your movement you used to run at slower than sprint speeds or atleast it felt that way.
That's all I'm saying, we could have kept it the way it was for all that it is now IMO. It's not any better, it's just a exercise in frustration most times. And alot of it doesn't make sense, like how buffers work among many things. -

Hey genius, how does the above prove your point at all?
Since you appear to be lacking in the areas of logic and reason, I'll help you out a bit. Your above post proves absolutely nothing.
[/ QUOTE ]For someone that disagrees with what I'm saying you sure stay with your mouth open. I'll slow it down since you seem to be a downy. This pvp(what we have now, ya know when you log on and play in a zone?) Is not better than what we had months back(ya know when you used to log into a zone?)
I showed i was able to jump into a pack of foes 10+ player controlled toons, score three or so kills, and escape with out being defeated, while not only them but npc heavies attempted me from not doing just that. The original premise was that this new pvp was to stop people from being able to do just that, so all these changes was forced upon us. Where in i12 the rad debuff i encountered and the cold movement debuff , and the fact i was held with not a single BF, would have been enough to keep me there for the kill. Instead i just took my kills and left. Is that plain enough for you dimwit? your the reason the other thread got taken, so say your silly trolling reply to this and Pleasebegone and those who care will chime in and those who don't wont.

I might write a guilde on escapes lol, but it seems our old thread mysteriously vanished so this one is along the same lines. It starts in the middle of like 25 or so heroes rping and fighting AV's. So any good stalkers mouth just waters at the thought of heroes occupied fighting other forces of evil (optimum time to strike) so they are all huddled up with heavies fighting GW and a spot a few injuries.

The point of this is to show that this new pvp, has left us in a worst state than what we previously had in i12. The big reason of the so called changes from what i remember was to bring pvp to a level where a casual player can pvp and, weaken those who had their toons all pumped up to be more inline with those that didn't. Also to keep people with a greater control of movement skills and techniques to not easily evade someone that didn't.
Now today i managed to jump into a pack of 10+ foes kill 3 or so and get out, while being attacked by atleast 9 of them and a heavy. This is not a better state than we had before, i was rad debuffed, slowed from cold debuffs, held without any bf's in my tray, and taking damage from multiple foes all at once, and still managed to get out of that. In the old pvp i would have died the second i was slowed or held with no bf's, or from the shear fact their damage would have been at full power, due top no DR.
In the first thread, i showed also just how easy it is to defeat the odds in a similar fashion. So though unlikely, but this is a attempt to show the devs, they may have made a mistake, and maybe help atleast get a i12 option in the arena.
My reasoning is, we have tried everything but numbers, it's a thread like every other day about how the new pvp isn't a fan fav, but we don't get any responses. So rather than giving up, i figured i'd atleast try this. If someone eles has a better idea, than implement it, what ever works at this point is my stance. -

LOL,
i nearly giggled out of my chair reading this garbage.
sure, i did accept his challenge..it's quite obvious..
Things he does not mention is that in that zone my comments were apart of a convo, in which he CLEARLY filtered and added to what he saw fit.
oddly enough his char is still a lowbie as it was then, which is why i chose not to duel it.
i care not that he was a lvl 40, but the comptetion was dry there.
sure, i lol'd when he brought his MM, that wasn't my fight, my char clearly wasn't designed to AoE spam a /paindom MM.
any decent pvper could see that that was a dumb fight...even players at PD agreed.
and furthermore, you never beat me, i never chugged an entire tray of inspirations, i didn't pop geas, nor eye of the magnus.
after 3-0 he pretty much stopped fighting and became a farm target, 6 mins into it, i asked did he want to quit, after taunting him..and of course he remained, so.. all hail free pvp io's?
anyhoot.
i have the screenie, of me murdering this bad player, 11-0.
if you'd like to continue, we can.
and yes.
I DID change from my psi to my sonic, he was more suited to fight a /thermal. errm */heat exhaustion
my bad ?
i came prepp'd to fight.
sadly, you did not.
11-0
good game, bucko.
[/ QUOTE ]Ok i missed most of this war, but this guys very 1st post on the forum consist of him wrecking someone in verbal pvp, and he has screenies
I'll borrow a line from conflict, "this thread has potential" lol -

The guy/girl was a goofball, but clearly there are builds more powerful than others. MM's simply cannot be defeated by certain builds. And stalkers have a clear advantage against anyone, considering they ALWAYS decide when, where, and how to attack, not to mention they can disappear simply by running away.
I've played and fought against both stalkers and MM's, and because of the game mechanics, both were retardedly easy to both survive and get kills with.
That dude might have taken it a bit far, but there's a smidgeon of truth to the point he was making.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really. Stalkers are easy to kill when there out of hide, and if you cant kill them in a duel then there is seriously something wrong with your build. All you have to do is survive the initial AS. Also blasters will kill stalkers all day in a duel and this guy aparently didnt realize that. lol
Also MM's may take a little more challenge to beat, but they are not unbeatable. There are a handfull of options to beat a MM.
This whole story was LOL. Wish i coulda ben there to see that. Was this on freedom.
[/ QUOTE ]You must sharpen your blades on noobs, because i know my stalker doesn't go down easy, thats if i even go down. You exaggerate your position a bit i believe, espectially that bold mm talk, the ones that usually duel are experts using them and mostly either dark or pain gg beating one of them easy. And gg thinking all stalkers are easy wins, next time your tough melee toon want a fight, look up knockout ned and show me all this nonsense you speak of i guarantee it will be a fight and no easy win as you say...pfft
