Quote:No one says the empathy set sucks (if they do, we need to beat them. And maybe heal them). Just too many see it as a "pure healer" set, which is not really true. And if the blaster is a lunatic, and you have to heal them for 10x their HP bar, you've made them ten times as tough.

Or if you have a tank who already has 90% resistance and you've put Fortitude on him and he STILL is going to die, suddenly healing looks more useful.
Your points are all good, but let's not make it sound like the empathy set sucks. I have multiple defenders and controllers at level 50 and one of them is empathy. It's a fun set to play, just like the others.
My little saying about Empathy, due to all it's buffs, is that it is "Nearly total cosmic power - for someone else" - that's what Green Machine runs on (1 fort = +20%Def [when slotted], +30% damage and out of the box, you can keep it on two people no problem, for one thing.) -

Quote:Reflections inside - Yes. Lighting, I think, was "Not sure, probably (initially) no.")So far, they've not said if mission maps will be using the new graphics or not - although, the actual sewer zones will most likely have them.
Due to a glitch, the "Smell-a-vision" feature, which will be in beta as part of Going Rogue Going Live, is stuck on. Sorry! -
Quote:Also, if you play windowed (due to some glitch which I don't think is fixed, I recommend using TweakCoH to change the resoultion to Windowed while the game is not running. It also lets you do fun things like change the in-game fonts.) you can click on the "X" in the corner to quit out.And once the status/menu bar is restored, you can exit the game by clicking Menu > Quit
Or there is also a slash command for it:
/quit
Don't know if /quit does it, but unlike clicking the X, when you use the menu option to exit the game, it will ask you if you want to quit to login or desktop, and if you choose the latter an option to skip the countdown and exit the program immediately comes up. -
Quote:I wouldn't say 99%. Maybe as high as 90.Most of the Black Friday Wal*Mart horror stories are hyperbole. The news media has nothing better to do.
And that goes for any other store, like Best Buy, Target, K-Mart, etc. The news media is 99% morons these days.
I was there at a local store (working) when we had one lady start slugging another over socks (she emptied the table into her cart, then started going through them. Another lady saw a pair she wanted, grabbed them, and the first retaliated for the "theft".) -

You do get the full serial code. After the code is applied you are sent an email containing the full code.
Which makes your false advertising comparison fail (I've dealt with those kinds of things on both ends of the fence. I know what you're trying to get at.)
I agree, though, a note mentioning that it is NOT transferable to any account other than the purchasing master account would be a good move. -

Quote:And from what I understand, apparently some/all the walmarts are going to open (are open already?) before the sales start, letting people get in or something like that.Well look at the bright side..
This year, Wal-mart has a couple dozen associates standing at the entrance doors to make sure people stand in a line and enter safely. They also have store maps on their website so you know exactly where the special item you are looking for is going to be. At least they are trying.. lol
Side note.. apparently people were lined up outside the Wal-mart here since yesterday afternoon. Benches, sleeping bags, the whole thing. I guess one group of people even tried to order delivery pizza to "the sidewalk in front of Wal-mart" haha -
Quote:The issue is credit card fraud - it's easy to buy something on a card. Once you get involving refuted charges, etc, it gets costly (in time and money) fast.
[...] 1000 codes were fraudulently obtained and were untraceable. What's the big deal?
Because you are assuming that that $5000 (with 500 processing fees) makes up for cleaning up $10,000 worth of fraudulent charges over 1000 entries.
It's not an issue of someone coming up with a random code generator and getting lucky - if someone managed to "guess" a code and an issue came up, the person without Proof of Purchase is the one out in the cold. -
Log onto a character that has the tabs set up the way you like.
Go to menu, options. Scroll to the bottom of the first (default) tab for the options window. At the bottom will be three settings with Save or Load defualt buttons. One is for windows, another chat chat, hit "save" then go to your character with the messed up settings and hit "load" (windows first, then chat). -
Quote:For gifting time, try buying cards from Amazon.comYeah, really. I wanted to get my sister a couple of months, but I cannot find any game time cards locally.
I was hoping that like on TotalFark, they had a "Sponsor"-type option, but alas, they do not.
I do understand fraud prevention, but there are methods with which they could prevent it.
For instance, for my banking, I had to create 5 or 6 questions, and answer them. Then, the bank asked me 5 or 6 generic questions (like, mother's maiden name), which I had to answer. Every time I log in, it cycles one of the 10 or 12 questions at random. For the questions I wrote, a few of them are extremely difficult to guess (like, '30th word on page 12 of the oldest manual at work?')
Pain in the butt, but I appreciate the security measures
AE edition can let them choose Magic or Tech packs, if they don't ahve those, and give a free month. -
Quote:No, that's pretty much right. It's my understanding that -ToHit and Defense fill the exact same spot in the chance to hit equation. So, against an equal level minion, that 40% defense and -10.5% to hit is going to be the same as 50.5% defense.
Now, I believe that the ToHit debuff is going to get scaled down vs. enemies that are higher level than you, and scaled up against lower leveled enemies (see Purple Patch). Additionally, AVs, GMs and such also are going to have resistance to the debuff, so that's also going to affect the actual chance for them to hit.
Usual disclaimer, I may be wrong on some or all of this, and if so, someone will be along to correct me soon.
To-Hit and Defense cancel each other out. A To-hit debuff is akin to a defense buff except you do have to worry about resistances on the debuff. -

Quote:You want the tech help forum. It's a player-helping-players-with-tech issues, and a subforum of the "Development" category. So, in anticipation of Going Rogue's new graphic updates, I am upgrading my video card. Now, rationally I know that 1 gb is not significantly better, generally speaking, than having 512 on a card, other than to have More Power (insert Tim Allen's More Power grunt/laugh here). Still, I'd like to know. What's the max texture size in CoX? I think I may have perhaps read somewhere something about more vram being necessary for higher AA settings (currently mine is a x8, and if I use Tweak CoH to bump it to x16 it chugs). So, thoughts? Opinions? Pie? :-)

Quote:That is so Trampled Death at Wal-Mart '08.If its like most Black Friday sales, its from 5:30am to 5:45am and there's only a guarantee of 2 per store, no rainchecks.

This year, the cool stores open at 4AM X.X (Only time I'm up at four am is to a) hit the snooze, or b) I'm about to go to bed...) -
The original merge was a one time thing, they it was made a perma thing when NCSoft took over.

Champions seems to be offering some packs of some kind and Character slots for reduced prices/freebies thrown in on stuff in their micro-transaction store.
Seen nothing for City of though. -
Quote:Kismet is a proc-like 120, yes (sorry, it's not a proc if there a base chance of 100% of it going off to me ;p), and operates under the same rules of availability/usage as a proc (level of enhancement doesn't matter, power mus be used/available for it to work).Umm, What?
They most certainly do exist.
I'll assume you're either trying for a "They are never available on the market, so they must not exist" type joke, or you're trying to be pedantic about how they aren't really "procs".
If it's the second case, I'll argue that they ARE procs, just ones with 100% chance of functioning.
Admittedly, the LoTG 7.5% recharge is a global bonus, but it's listed as a "global proc".
The Kismet is wrong in it's description as it's +6% TO-HIT and not +6% Accuracy as described but it is definately a "normal" 100% proc - put it in a toggle and wait two minutes and it'll shut off, so it's a proc.
So there, pffft
The LotG: Global Recharge is not a proc or even a 120. It's a global - it grants, by itself, a unique set bonus giving a 7.5% recharge. It does not follow the same rules as a proc. (As a set bonus [uniquely named at that, so five LotGs and five 7.5% regular set bonuses stack for a total of 75% recharge] it only is granted as long as your combat level is no less that enhancement level -3 but the power does not have to be available to you.) -

Quote:Not without file swapping. You would need to insert a file into /data that has a higher base volume.Same topic; Different question (I'm at work now, can't check it myself):
Is it possible to adjust the Volume of the Tell ding independent of the other sound FX Volume?
Sometimes I miss Tells during fights, with lots of different power sound effects going off.
FYI I wear headphones when I play. -
Quote:Mechanically, the type(s) of damage delt have nothing to do with the type of attack. Foe example, Fireball is attack typed AoE/Fire(checks versus Fire and AoE defense), but it deals smashing damage as well as fire. Now here is a question that i havent seen at all and was wondering. If i were to have a toon with 16% S/L Defense AND 16% Melee/ranged/AoE Defense. Are the 2 defenses added because the melee/ranged/AoE attack is also S/L damage as well. How does this work with melee/ranged/AoE attacks having S/L/F/C/E/N/P damage with it.
Castle could, if he wanted to, make a ranged single target attack that deals fire damage attack typed melée/psi. -
The tech issues forum would be the best place to ask, but from what I have heard most of the issues disappear if you make sure to download the drivers from your video card's manufacturer's website (the defualts drivers that come with 7 don't work as good as the full driver fro online)
