  1. Fury, why do you hate the casual player who is just trying to purple out a warshade?

    True story.
I have advised a few market haters that the only way to get keep us ebil marketeers from profiteering off their backs is to delete recipes to keep them out of our hands. A couple have reported that they have done so based on my advice. I believe I have gotten richer since then, so clearly it works.

Just your rep? I've got lowball bids out for all rep level 10 through 53 (in case the devs ever raise the recipe cap). When I buy them, I'm going to manipulate the prices so casual players can't even afford rep. Then I'll sell my holding to all you rich, ebil jerks at a huge mark-up.

I have been calling for a price cap for well over a year now. Seems so many players want it because they think it will make it easier for them to purple out their warshade with just casual play time. I, on the other hand, know that won't be the case. In reality, it will make it easier for my characters to get richer, as I can afford to put in a large number of bids for a large number of items at the price cap. When I get the luck of the random number generator and buy something at the price cap, I will then be able to sell that item for a huge mark-up via global channels. The actual in-game black market will feed my desire to sell in a non-game-controlled black market.

lulz for cluelessness. I have a damn logical reason for wanting price caps. And I don't care enough about non-hardcare players any more to want to make it easier for them to get all the shinies they want. I've spent a lot of time in game and in this forum trying to help them. They still whine, ***** and moan, and I'm rather tired of it. So screw them - I just want my own riches now.

Quite simply, price caps make it easier for me to get rich.

I'm skeptical. I'm sure there will be a drop, but I'm not sure numbers will plummet. But that's OT, so I'll leave it at that. Please continue the discussion.

(Then there's the Emmert/Gecko factor, but that's likely a non-issue for most people).
Here lies the issue for me. Super-hero MMO? I'm immediately interested. I've pre-ordered just so I can get some time in beta and decide if it's worth a lifetime sub or not. If I like it, I'll lifetime it, and end up playing there and here. If the beta doesn't impress me, I'll let it simmer for a year and try again later. My biggest concern with the game is how will Emmert mess it up after release, but I'm still willing to give it a shot up front.

  8. No way to store the recipes, but it shouldn't take much to craft the recipes and store the IOs on a table in your base. That's what I do for stuff I want to keep until I can use, or stock up on for alts to take.

I feel like the entire system should be reviewed, it is by far the absolute worst part of the game. I hate and dread using the market every time I have to do it. But maybe that is because I am not a greedy gold farmer sending my kids to college on RMT.
If you were to start a petition asking the devs to implement a cap on market prices in an effort to combat the problems you think are there, I, for one, would gladly sign on as a sponser to such a petition.

    You can trust me.

    Really.

    Honest.

    I swear it.

Just let me, um, touch the IO tables. Please?

But really - shoot up some pics for the base-building forum. My bases are built about 98% for functionality, but I do through in 1-2% aesthetics for me. Those are the only reason I'd show my bases, but if I ever get the urge I'll pop them up in the base-builders forums via screenies.

Probably something crazy like all the bids for luck charms would be filled, the price would drop precipitously, and then 2 weeks later it would be back around where it started, proving the the ebil marketeers are not the reason the price is what it is.

But that's likely never going to happen.

Lets face facts people. Controller and Corruptors can do everything we can do and then some. Sure, their "Buff" powers have a lower multiplier but their damage is much better.
My Earth/Emp and Earth/Storm controllers are wondering where all the other same combo controllers are getting their "much better" damage than defenders.

That's the theory, but I have often times pointed out exactly what niches I work and still maintained nice profit margins. I have at times even listed my exact bidding and listing prices, and *still* gotten obnoxiously rich. Seems there's enough activity to give multiple players profits.

  15. In honor of Nethergoat, I turned 400M into prestige today, and then spent 85% of that on improving my already fully-functional base. Viva la destruction!

    RagManX
  16. Doctored Wounds. Everyone seems to play that niche, yet it is still profitable. The devs need to fix this. Also, I've had loads of success with Blessing of the Zephyr KB protection, but that's a game of patience to profit in if you don't have enough to bid across 10-15 levels of recipes and/or crafted IOs. When I get those, I tend to see 8-30M profits, depending on which side, level, and time-frame I dealt with.

No you didn't. You chose to buy pistons for 1M. You could have bid, say, 10,000 and logged out. Then in an hour or two, when you went back, you would have bought all 4 most likely. Certainly you would have them after an overnight wait. There - I just saved you 3,960,000 off your next purchase of salvage that is temporarily out of normal selling range.

    RagManX
  18. I consider 100M+ to be rich, although once I hit 4-6M I feel I'm wealthy enough to start focusing some of my funds on pimping my toon. I can spend a portion while still using the rest to grow my wealth.

If the said items did stay longer than 60 days, then this is obviously a bug in the market system and should be /bug reported.

As noted already, this has been removed. But to clarify - this was never true. What did happen was if you didn't have market interaction for 60 days, everything you had in market slots was sent to the great bit bucket in the sky. I had characters with items listed for 6+ months before they sold, and that was just fine as long as I checked in at least once every 59 days.

I can understand a panacea recipe +hitpoints +end costing a lot because of its rareness but 500 million?!? nothing in game should cost that much.

    we need intervention please

or if not please make the bm zones PvP'able and show the names of those hiking the prices so I may at least be the hand of justice and retribution
I support this poster, and feel I can contribute. Devs - please implement price caps to keep prices from getting so high on the official black market.

In an unrelated matter, I know that Achilles Heel: Chance for -res doesn't stack from the same power used by the same character. Will it stack from different powers used by the same character?
There have been arguments in various threads about this, with some saying with certainty that it does not stack regardless of the source and some saying it does and they have screenshots to prove it. I can't point out any of these threads right now, but I believe the defender forum is where I've seen both sides of the argument. I don't know the answer, but you might have success checking there.

Not exactly sure where you get your facts there, RagManX, but you might need to start looking elsewhere for them. Villain side is completely different than Hero-side. Anyone will tell you that. I can get a Miracle for....NOTHING on Hero side. I've gotten more Miracles +recoveries via ticket rolls and merit rolls than I have actually bought the stupid things. However, that's all on hero side. Villain side, it's another matter. It's hard enough to find a competent team, much less complete TFs on a regular basis to earn merits for the rediculously expensive IOs (which would be pretty much all of them)... Yes, you could bid 14,000 on an expensive IO and hope that someone makes a mistake in posting one for an unbelievable price, and maybe you could pick up that IO next year!

Or... You could try offering a solution.

    "The One"
If you can't fully IO a single character for 670M with no purples, then you are paying too much for your IOs. If you are paying too much for your IOs, you are part of the problem that is keeping prices high. I have played almost exclusively redside for the past 6 months. I know exactly what the market is like there. I still routinely buy most of the expensive stuff for 50-80% off typical pricing by bidding and waiting 1-3 weeks. The only IOs I have unsuccessfully tried this on redside this year are the +stealth IOs and purples. Yes - I have gotten Numina +rec/+rgn, every version of KB protection, Gaussian's recipes and crafted IOs, and any other expensive non-purple IO I have tried for at half typical price or less. My MA/Nin stalker is soft capped on melee, ranged ,and AoE defense and has a Miracle +rec IO. That was done for under 300M. How can one possibly spend 670M, get no purples, and claim not to be part of the problem of high prices?

If you defeat enemies faster, you use less endurance. If you take tornado on your fire/storm, you will defeat enemies faster. If you use less endurance in a fight, you have less need for improved end recovery.
