Quote:Proper punctuation, spacing, capitalization and spelling are your friends. Ok there are no spelling errors in that particular sentence but I'm sure somewhere in that thread there's one or two. Some of you dont like me,and some of you know exactly what im talking about, but its those of you that dont like me,know i speak truth.
Admittedly that was immature... but hey, it's not one of the responses you claim to get all the time.
But with all sincerity Fire_Minded... look through every thread you've started and read through them or better yet have an objective friend read through them, in every one you start off with a rant then when people try to respond with rationality you seem to just get more and more angry instead of actually considering that you're point of view might be biased or that you might be overreacting.
"NERDHULK MAD!" "NERDHULK RANT MORE!"
I try not to be so blatantly rude but seriously your posts get more and more ignorant, rude and in some cases (specifically towards Tonality who you still owe an apology to) flat out insulting. -
First my history with CoX, I started playing a long time ago quit after a month and came back four months ago and can't stop playing. Unfortunately the supergroup a friend of mine got me into when I started the first time has become inactive (he doesn't even play anymore really).
I've checked out a couple SGs in game with different toons and have simply found them not for me for various reasons. Ultimately I'd like to find a SG that's active, is RP friendly but not required (I don't do it but I enjoy watching others who do) and doesn't have any strict rules or meetings. I understand rules and meetings to a point but some SG leaders act as if it should be as important as my job. "Mandatory meeting at such and such time"... this is a game, there should be nothing mandatory about it. -
I usually form my own teams for this very reason but oddly as soon as I finished the team I was on last night I received a message asking if I wanted to join another. I was going to go to bed but I thought I'd take advantage of not being the leader for once lol.

WERE you?
If you find the OPs post annoying becuase he put a Mids build up then don't respond. In regards to IOs he asked simply stated that he was surprised at how well it performed without them. If you read that as "OMFG you have to have IOs" then I suggest you reread it.
One of the things that I've pointed out to new players is that this community is the friendliest and most helpful I've ever seen in an MMO... I guess there's an exception to every rule.
Also, if you're going to try to insult someone's intelligence at least make sure you spell it right. -
Had a team last night that reminded me of this thread. I was running on my tank on the most god awful arachnos mission ever. I was running +2 which is usually not a problem but last night I died on my tank more times than in his previous 32 lvls. We actually got to a point where there were so many baddies in one room that we had to have our blasters sniping to avoid another wipe, oddly it was fun.
Anyway, glad things are looking better Hube, as far as starting your own team, this is what I usually end up doing and while it can be tedious it gives you the opportunity to set any kind of "rules" that you want and as the tank most will usually listen. You'll still have an overzealous blaster or scrapper run up and get killed from time to time (admittedly I've been guilty of this on my blaster) but usually they're very accepting that it was their own aggression that got them killed, and I have yet to have one blame me for not holding aggro or a controller/defender for not healing.
Also, while I do appreciate your preference to tactics... the next time you feel like "steamrolling" try an 8 man team of 2 tanks 4 blasters and 2 defenders/trollers. While there's no perfect team for anything IMO, this make up kills things so fast I almost felt like a spectator as the tank. Having also run the same make up with my blaster... well... I like inferno... a LOT. -
Thanks Miladys! I didn't know about the TDs lack of functionality while mezzed.
This is my first /dev blaster so I'm sure I'll find out all kinds of stuff I didn't know before lol. -
Quote:I'm playing a rad/dev and I'll have you know it's tons of fun :PYes, they changed it because of Defiance 2.0. Flares is on a faster timer because the bonus damage from Fire Blast makes the difference (so it does the same damage as other Tier 1 blasts).
Rad Blast is better this way, since these attacks now have significantly higher DPA values, which is what is most important for getting a good attack chain and dps. You now need some more recharge to keep the chain smooth, but you also have access to an entire secondary of great attacks to fill in (/Dev need not apply).
But yes at lower lvls (just made him and got him to 9 yesterday) it can be slow with a lack of attacks but it's still tons of fun. Plus I find for teams I think I'll use him as more of a support toon due to the -def debuff all rad attacks have. -
Hube your biggest disadvantage (not your fault) is that you're playing a tank which can make the run and gun approach even more frustrating if that's not what you're into. Just keep one thing in mind it's probably more organized than you realize... just a much faster pace. I say that because I was thinking the same thing just the other day playing my tank, "this should be more organized, if that scrapper dies as he continues to charge in it's not my fault" etc. however...
I was playing my tank on an 8 person team and I was the only tank. It looked like utter chaos... then I realized looking up at my buffs specifically Rise to the Challenge that all or at least most of the mobs are on me... the rest are held or on the brink of death. Had I not been there, the over zealous scrapper would be dead as would a couple others I'm sure as I usually keep my difficulty at at least +2 for teams. On the other hand if the controllers hadn't been doing their controlly stuff I'd probably have died or someone would have.
Remember difficulty can be cranked if necessary the problem is that you're playing a game that a lot of people are already comfortable with so, knowing their role they charge in and do it and all is well. This kinda reiterates Seldom's point.
I would also say even if RPing isn't your thing you may want to consider Virtue for your server if you're not already on it... given that it's the unofficial RPing server you're more likely to find people that are ok with tactics as opposed to "I WANNA LVL NAOH!"
If you want to run with someone who appreciates a tanks desire to be the first one in look me up lol my global is @radubadu and I'm on most evenings on Virtue -

ok... while I appreciate the effort of your post I'm at work... and after reading it my brain is officially ready to shut down lol
So basically, I will want to slot targetting drone for +to hit and still have one +acc in everything else? -
I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find a thread on it.
If you slot a cone ability (i.e. fire breath) with a range increase enhancement does it increase the width of the cone or just the length? -
So I made a rad/dev blaster last night and just screwing around in the tutorial with him I think I'll really enjoy it but I have a question about /dev. Does targetting drone make enough of a difference to make slotting for accuracy somewhat obsolete? or does it at least give you a little more freedom when slotting your primary if your torn between accuracy and damage or recharge reduction?

Sounds like you got your issue resolved but I wanted to chime in that if you look to buy a new laptop almost any that you would buy now would run CoH some will look/run better than others but it will run. It runs on mine that I paid $350 new for two years ago and the first pc I installed it on is now 9 years old and while I don't use it now... it runs it fine.
However, if you're picky about having graphics cranked I'd go ahead and get a nice gaming laptop if budget isn't an issue. -
Quote:I haven't forgotten :P however there have been times where I've charged into a group of mobs been cut down to 10% health and wished I had hand clap and if not for spamming f1-f4 for respites would've died and I have all lvl 30 IO stuff in my defense and health powers.Hand Clap is not even situational when talking about a WP/SS Tank. No matter what the situation is...Hand Clap will hurt you. Remember what Rise to the Challenge does.
I will say that having hit 31 last night this is less and less of a problem but it does still happen and I have to assume that hand clap followed by taunt after the mobs are done being disoriented is better than laying there dead while the rest of the team deals with them.
I've decided that I will likely tough it out and wait til 38 though as I imagine once I get foot stomp all will be good -
Quote:This kinda boils down to knowing your role. As a blaster regardless of powersets you can't go in guns blazing and expect not to die. Especially as fire/fire doing arguably the best burst damage of any other powerset if you run in right behind the tank and let loose, you WILL die.
Fire/fire was fun, but if I recall.... as you say, he needed a lot of support to stay alive, but he did great mob damage.
On the other hand if you're running solo adjust your difficulty to -1/+2 (or more whatever you're comfortable with) run into a pack of mobs fireball > fire sword circle then pick off whatever's running away with flares lol... good times -
I do wish that there were vehicles but as someone pointed out it would basically be for RPing. While I'm not heavily into RPing I have a hard time justifying how may "natural" WP/SS tanker can jump hundreds of yards or free fall from a building taking almost no damage.

I've probably seen more threads pointing out "we don't know" than people asking questions... yet they still ask them. Correct me if I'm wrong but the only thing that is certain is that we will be able to switch sides but the particulars of doing so are very much unknown.
-
Quote:Two points, one for both sides of this argument.Personally I don't bother. They expire in just a few minutes, and you get Beginner's Luck below 20. BL should be enough to get you to 12, when you can buy DOs.
I lvl'd my dark/dark defender to 14 without buying any TOs and had no problems. So it's not necessary.
However for the cost it may be worth it especially considering if you save the inspirations from the tutorial you can sell them for a decent chunk of change. Sold the green from the same defender for 80K. That's something else I wish someone would have told me when I first started. -
Thanks Sarrate, I'm hoping to hit 27 tonight so I know where my slots are going. The lack of AoE is another reason I was considering hand clap I guess just to have for the rare situations that it would come in handy until I get foot stomp.
I'll also have to try running ahead too... I know the group I was in last night could not have handled that... I was a sliver away from dying too many times to leave the group behind and charge into a pack by myself that's for sure lol. -

I agree that he should stop listening... but at the same time there is still nothing wrong with suggesting he try a different server.
But you inadvertantly bring up another interesting point... if he's the only one reporting such issues, maybe it's not the people he's playing with... -
Thanks for the input! I may try Hand Clap just because while situational it seems like it could come in handy (and I have to imagine it's fun to use). I'll def see about a recharge reduction in taunt too.

Quote:I don't see what's hypocritical about it or how it's gibberish. He simply suggested to the OP to try a different server, and frankly if I ran into the issues the OP has posted about (this isn't the first one) I'd try another server too.That. Statement. Is. Hypocritical. Gibberish.
I've been playing exclusively on Freedom for the last two years and I have never such people.
I will say that I have one toon on Freedom and it's the only one I've ever logged in to see people arguing over broadcast... it reminded me of WoW... that toon is still lvl 2.
