  1. Ok it doesnt really mean the tide is turning, it only says the decision was made because the 3d work on part one would not have been done in time for the release date. And if i recall a couple years back they did delay a Harry potter movie, and that thanksgiving we got twilight if i am not mistaken. Fans really threw a fit when the film was delayed, so im sure they dont want to do that again. And with release windows, you want a film for harry to come out in the summer time, so if you delayed part 1, then it would have to move to july, which means part 2 delays to nov, and is in conflict im sure with the last twilight films part 1.

Now dont get me wrong i would have loved to have read this article and seen "WB has decided that 3D conversions of its films is a gimmick and a waste of money and has decided not to subject its fans to craptastic conversions of 2d movies." But honestly that is not what it said at all in any way. It simply said "we dont have the time and fear our fans if we delayed the film for 3d"

Yep again, the effects are really failing so far this year. They basicly are only doing maybe 1-2 real heavey effects shots per show and like in this one, the SG rescue at the begining looked worse then many fan made movies on youtube.

Really the only good effect in the whole show was the smoke/bird stuff, and then they went the cheap route and tried to block view of clark unroping lois (who basicly this year seems to be simply a character to put in as many seudo sexual positions as possible) even the red curtain that sprang up to cover the screen looked like complete crappola.

You know for everyones talk about how THIS is the season to watch. How they are finally going to mature clark into superman etc etc blah blah, these first few episodes IMO have shown that the CW and creative forces behind the show are really just phoning it in figuring at this point the ratings are what they are, make the show, milk it for the year and wash your hands of it.

And frankly its really what i was expecting. There is no way the WB is seriously going to invest money in a show that has steady, but disappointing ratings that dont really seem to rise or fall dramaticly week to week. And the downside to basicly saying its the last season is really that you wont attract anyone new. Sure you might get a few back that gave up on the series, but if i had never watched it to begin with, im not gonna start because its the final season. If i want to watch it im sure i can catch up on netflix or something later.

Im predicting at this point that 17 or the last 19 episodes are going to be just what we have gotten so far. Crappy special effects, with stupidly basic monster of the week story lines where we watch the "dark force" jump from recognizable named character to the next. Im giving them the possibility of having 2 decent shows in the mix since usually thats about how it goes, if nothing else but by accident. And frankly at this point, i dont predict those shows are going to be the series finalle either More likely they will be a wrap up to the suicide squad story line or something like that. Ill say right now that the dark side fight will probably end up being something ****** like 2 punches and we open a portal to suck the smoke away from earth kinda finale.
  3. I still say you try. I mean destiny is a big ship itself. So if i got shot and was bleeding out on the ship would they simply kill me where i was or TRY to get me out and to the infirmery to be treated. And sure i might die on the way, however atleast you try.

Riley wasnt dead, he said at the begining he wasnt in pain then later said he was. But seriously yank him out, sure he might think he is going to die anyway, but again, try. Its just IMO a poorly devised plot. Sure now if you at that moment had no hope of reaching the ship or other medical supplies, i could see it but at that point they had the gate working. Hell i would think the first group through would be some doctors from earth that they had on the ready from using the stones.

It wasnt awful, if any other hero used it in the series we would probably like it. Its just like when they started to mess with his uniform when they killed him and brought back the multiple supermen and the krytonian style costumes and stuff, it wasnt superman. In honestly superman probably has one of the worst costumes in modern comic books, its just one of the most iconic and you cant mess with it alot or people rage.

First, a shuttle with no safety harnesses. Maybe the original crew had advanced far enough that they had inertia dampening fields built into each seat. But if the current crew can't figure out how to activate those systems then they would have cobbled together some sort of seat belts out of cargo straps or belts or something. Not could have. Would have.

Second. Have tourniquets become a forgotten technology? There appeared to be plenty of clearance under the beam to get a couple around his legs. And if Scott could lift it enough by himself to let TJ get her hand underneath then a few more strong people, or even a lever (evidently another forgotten technology) would have been enough to lift the beam and get Riley out.

So to sum it up. What bothers me most about shows that feature advanced technology is when everybody completely forgets basic technology that anybody off the street could cobble together. If they wanted to kill Riley off then fine, let him die from complications or blood loss due to not having sufficient medical supplies. Don't do it because nobody remembers technology so simple a caveman could use it.
Not just that, i can kinda buy the idea that when on the wreck that freeing him would kill him by taking the pressure off the wound, but once the gate is working and you can basicy blink and be back on the ship, why not atleast try. Even if they basic med kit wasnt prepared for the problem you now have access to everything and all the supplies, you can go back to the ship and get what you need, come back, free him and try and get him to the ship. You can use the stones to have a real doctor waiting or even come to the planet with you.

Sure its a life threatening injury and he could have died anyway, but i fail to see, after everything else in the series, why this became a "ill kill you quietly" moment other then im sure at some point the truth will come out at some inopprotune moment when Young is trying to inspire confidence in himself with the crew.
  6. Another thing is dont get to hung up on what the caloric intake you should be eating is. Yes there is a healthly level of caloric intake, but that is based on a average humans height etc, plus assuming average activity which its likely if your severly over weight your not reaching.

Plus i am betting here, that most doctors would rather see you drop some decent weight then worry to much about eating to few colories. Keep in mind that when obese people get their stomachs stapled and such, they are eating much fewer then optimum calories for quite some time, and its one of the reasons they drop such good amounts of weight in that first year or so after the operations.

So im willing to bet that if you dropped weight a bit quicker then the 2 pounds or whatever a week that is considered healthy for a normal person a doctor would probably see it as a plus to lighten the strain on your body, joints, back, heart, lungs etc that being chronically overweight causes. The trick is when you can become more active doing so and then gradually starting to balance that weight loss into the healthy range. But in the long run its more unhealthy being to large then losing an extra couple pounds here and there.
  7. My real demands would be access to the markets from a computer in your base.(helps elimiate the running back and forth for doing major crafting and elimiate the issue of lag around the AHs)

I think they need to change the storage containers in the bases to be all inclusive. As in rather then tables for Hancers, salvage, inspir etc. Make 2 different kinds. One generic SG salvage hole. Have it store like 75 items and can store insp, salvage, hancers and RECIPIES. Then have a similar private storage, like the current vault system, that can store salvage, hancers, and recipies but not insp. and have it be specific to either global or character and accessable through the base as a private storage locker and up the limit again to 75 from the current 50 or whatever it is.

And allow all the transporter beacons to be used in all bases no matter what side, and just limit the use by if the character should have access to that zone or not. There is no story reason why a VG couldnt have teleporters placed and hidden in a hero zone or vice versa. Just limit their use to those rogues or vigs in the group that would be able to travel to said zone they wish to go to. Either that or allow the Oportal to transport to all normal avialible zones on both sides, with a rogue or vigi. Either way, but doing a TF with a grey toon is a pain in the butt when your always the slowest one getting everywhere.
  8. The only real request i think needs to be made is to add more missions so that the same ones dont continually come up. And i personally think that though someone that didnt upgrade to GR shouldnt be able to change sides, i think they need to alter the current system to allow them to use the tip missions to solidify thier alignment. Like a hero and do hero tips and then get the reward for staying a hero and vice versa for villians.

I say that only because there is a reward associated with staying on one side or the other, and i think if you add in a new reward system like that and your going to drop tips to those even if they havent upgraded, then you should be able to atleast take advantage of the reward for your current alignment. And the rewards basicly deal with buying IOs that are all availible to any character running the upgraded game or not.

I dont think that they are replacing Gotham with New Orleans, its just where they film the movies, and probably at that mostly just the sound stage work and minor outdoor set peices since they have kinda estabilished Chicago as the look of the new gotham in the movies.

Over the last several years many communities have seen the benefit to giving golden handjobs to the movie and tv studios to atract business to their localities. We saw alot of this start in TV originally i think back with the Xfiles. They started shooting in vancouver which gave fox a nice deal, but then also allowed for many different types of landscapes for outdoor shooting plus overall gloomy weather wich was pretty much the norm for that show prior to the movie and them moving procuction to LA.

Jackson shot LOTR in new zeland for many of the same financial reasons, plus the varried landscapes allowed for it to be shot all in one place, but still give the appearance of a long journey through many different regions of a world.

So i dont think they are taking batman out of gotham, just changing where they film the movie itself. The question now is what mentally unstable actor can you get to star in the lead role that will hopefuly commit purposeful or accidental suicide by the time the movie comes out to assure the same ticket sales for the sequel? (yes that was purposeful troll bait)
  10. I am not having a problem with most of the older content. But i seem to notice a big difference in difficulty levels between older missions and new content.

Im not talking just the differences in the praetorian worlds debuffing etc the mobs seem to have, but even like in the tip system on primal earth.

I notice that if i run normal missions that i am mostly seeing similar mobs to always. Say a few more lts, and minions within atleast the correct 0-+1 level range with mostly just a final boss in the mission.

However on the same settings, i do a tip mission and the mobs will be huge, i will get boss spawns in every mob, even just running like +1/1-2 and dont get me started on the ambushes which we all know are basicly just there to kill us all off.

If you want different difficulty levels as to the type of mission your running, fine but atleast a warning as to what to expect on your current level would be nice. I even turn off bosses and one tip mission will be clear of them and the next they are all over the place again.
  11. Until this show shows me something worthwhile to follow its now relagated to being a scheduled DVR recording i watch as time permits. Last nights episode wasnt bad, but ya even if its only been a few times, the countdown clock idea seems to be getting old. If Rush can stop the ship then stop the clock also why not?

I also wasnt buying them digging out the stargate in time, even with explosives. It would have been better to have it malfunctioned or something that could be fixed then having to move rather large blocks of stone from it with only a shovel.

I am also not to sure about this DS9 direction they are going that is apparently going to mix the two crews. Though i do like the red headed chick, now they just need to kill chloe and then let the nerd get the new girl.
  12. It has to do with tax breaks for the production and ease of access to permits to work in the public areas. Which is odd that a reporting agency like SHH wouldnt realize this. Especially now with reports that the b.s. going on in new zeland is holding up production on the hobit and might have them having to scout new locations elsewhere for doing the film.
  13. Gee another one punch fight with a bad guy......

Let me guess the excuse, were saving money for the big fight at the end of the season like was the mantra all season long with doomsday.

    I beg to differ.

First off I think Georges problem with greedo was that the way the film was shot didnt in his opinion make it an obvious case of self defense. Now i think it was, Greedo had clearly said in the subtitles that he intended to kill him, but perhaps George was a afraid that a smaller child that didnt read that quickly wouldnt pick up on the text fast enough to make that distinction. I dont know, but its the one change i really wish they would change back, or at minimum do alot better job in putting together then they did.

Anakin was young because they wanted to demonstrate that he had a natural level of force ability long before any training came around. Again not depicted well in the movie, but the book makes a point of saying that humans didnt have the reflexes for pod racing and no one understood how anakin could do it. And at the end he just had a "Feeling" about firing the torpedeos into a dark area of the hanger that ended up being the main generator. So like a force push in the right direction kinda thing. This didnt end up being clear in the movie it seems more like luck. Also being that a big part of his initial fall to the dark side is being removed from his mother, i think also you needed to have that happen at an age when it really would have affected a child, rather then a young adult or teenager.

As for other movies, i really cant think of one that in some way doesnt pander to its audience in order to get the rating it wants to appeal to. The prequels essentially did this by limiting most carnage to robots. Figuring pg13 wasnt around yet when RotJ came out i would have think if it was that jedi might also have hit pg13 for the ewok carnage in the final fight.

But look back at movies and TV, cobra soldiers jumping from planes before they are blown up, Turtles fighting with swords that never draw blood and half the time are not really used as weapons. Heck even this summer the Last Airbender IMO did alot of fire, ice etc with no real consequences to the use of the power. I didnt see one person in that movie i can think of get lit on fire, or stabbed with an ice knife or anything that really put consequences to the action on the screen.

It happens and its the reality of modern film making and peoples in ability to tell their childern a movie is or isnt appropriate for them. And of the studios wanting to appeal to the largest possible audience they can. Hence how many PG13 horror movies are released now only to have a special DVD unrated release later on.

    sunnuva *****.

it's not as if people went in to the first of the prequels (eh, most people anyway) thinking "oh yeah, this is gonna be a ****fest." then when george admitted things weren't really as good as he wanted them, he kept telling fans that he'd do better, and didn't. To be honest, i found the third one to be a pretty decent movie. But that's not going to stop me from looking at it critically and realizing there were an incredible amount of flaws with it. What IS wrong, isn't that I'm going to shell out money for these prequels... again... (because, hey if you havent figured it out, im not) ...other people ARE and the gobs of money Lucas is going to make off that is just going to convince him that he did no wrong.

so again, i say, "releasing the movie in 3-D? meh, to hell with the prequels, but at least i can go see the original trilogy on the big screen again. let's just hope he doesn't screw with them even more to fit his skewed, frelled up vision."
And from a critical stand point alot of the same issues with theprequel could and were talked about the original trilogy. But hey try telling a buncha seven year olds that their space opera with light swords and dogfighting xwings had bad acting, a patchy story and such and you get a little baby nerd rage. 30 years later you just get a full on nerd rage.

The original trilogy wasnt herald for its acting or such or even its story. We have all heard the stories about where lucas borrowed his story elements and ideas from enough to know that little of it was an original idea. But he tweaked it to his liking as many do, and basicly created a special effects movie that few had seen at that level at that time which blew away an entire generation of kids.

But the way i look at it is now those kids have grown up. And they grew up watching ILM and other effects companies grow up as well. We grew up seeing Tron, Jurassic Park, Matrix, etc. We grew up seeing entire worlds created for us in a computer, entire species animated for us that couldnt have existed before all as a result of where star wars started us off. So by the time the prequels came along i dont know what people expected. Their special effects delivered but certianly at this point it didnt seem as ground breaking as it was 30 years before. But the story and acting and such really were all about at the same level. I mean talk about forced, at the end of one movie Leia thinks Han is a sleazy opprotunist and the begining of the next she is lusting him secretly. The idea of luke having a sister was pretty much it seems just dropped in. When we needed to move along the plot we just had a ghost show up and point everyone in the right direction or give doomfull forboding to the path characters were taking. None of it was really deep story telling. It was what lucas always said he wanted to create "Modern Mythologies" and anyone that has ever read greek or roman mythology knows the stories are not deep, and rarely are the characters either. Its intended to present drama, situations of heroism and overcoming the odds etc. But its not deep character driven story telling by any means.

I thought this as well. Even if not a live action movie, when you see the quality of some of the 3-5 minute game cinematics that are being released, especially for star wars products like FU and OR I for one would be perfectly happy with a full lenght movie for FU that reached that level of realism. I think if he could whip something like that up and it did well we might be alot closer to seeing something like the thrawn trilogy on screen. One thing Lucas has always maintianed he is more comfortable in the editing room then the directors chair. And making a CG movie might be alot more to his liking them filming again.

Who said he didnt respect the stories? There is a big difference between not respecting them based on the quality of the stories and simply saying it would be to difficult to keep track of 15 different books a year acrossed 3 different generations in the universe and keep it all canon. So he did like other large properties have done like star trek and basicly says his movies come first, anything else not contridicted by those is fine. Thats not disrespecting that preventing nerdraged arguments before they start.

    Tv.....

It sounds to me like DC is pretty much up in the air right now.

The only thing i can imagine they could do at this point is to concentrate on the harris bros for the entire season. From what i heard the oldest one was trying to get licensed to be a capt, so if he did that, and took the book it could be intresting to see them develop kinda like Sig and his brother did as capt and lead deck hand. But it sounds like the Hildstrands are gone for sure, and frankly i think Sig was probably looking for an excuse to bow out also.
  20. I watched it and really kinda dug it. Heroes had a different vibe in that from day one it was about a specific event and how the characters all related into that event. This one starts off alot more open. We see the powers, in a short time frame they did an effective job of setting up the characters and motivations.

I think its intresting to a point that whatever the goo was that gave them powers did so in such a way as to something that they would have found of value or lacking in their lives. The wife was the busy body and needed more time and got faster, the daughter was typical girl trying to fit in and ride the social scene and got the ability to read minds. The son was suffering from a learning disability and im sure being the son of a brainy mother probably wanted to be smarter and make her proud and he becomes a brainiac. The dad is suffering from tpyical male issues these days with feeling out of sorts. He feels inferior to his wife who is obviously supporting the family, feels out of touch with his children and wonders what happened to all the happy times. As such he gets the biggest range of powers that makes him sorta a superman.

I like the fact that they from the start have put limits on the powers. We know the dad is not 100 percent invincable so we dont have to worry about superman type issues. And i like the idea that they have already set up kinda a plot line with the wifes job kinda having something to do or knowing about those with powers.

i think if they can walk the right line between the family drama and the superhero plots it will work well, kinda like an incredibles vibe is what i think they were going for. Be intresting to see if they can make it happen or if we get boiled down into issues of virginity and such that were hinted at and it just becomes a mess.
  21. First off this isnt as terrible as many people thnk it might be. First off the movies are already made, so there is pretty much no likelihood of getting all those BS shots of things coming out of the screen that plague current 3D movies as just a way to prove they are in 3D. I would expect the conversions to be much more like Avatar in such that it provides a depth to the experience and film. However its also a nice chance to see ALL the movies again on the big screen. I know this isnt as big of a deal for some with 5 and 6 foot televisions in their homes, but i dont have that. And my 10 yearold has never seen any of them in theaters so the way i look at it, right about the time he is going to stop wanting to spend time with his old foogy dad, well have these to enjoy going to together.

Now on the optomistic front, lucas has often used star wars to finance other and new projects. Not only were the special editions needed to preserve the original films, but he used the money from the theatrical releases to finance the phantom menace. which was used to finance attack of the clones etc. So this could be a project intended to start a cash flow to finance something else new and intresting in the star wars universe.

I know everyone loves to blame lucas for ****** their childhood and kicking their puppy, but they are his films, he worked hard and took alot of chances making them and getting the rights to control them as he wished. Something that often doesnt happen for filmmakers. He took that money and founded many things like ILM, skywalker sound, THX, Lucas Arts etc that have all gone on to enhance the enjoyment we can get from many of our favorite past times like movies, TV, and games. Ill give lucas the benefit of the doubt this is a good thing. (And yes i think the prequels were ok also)

Part of the problem is nothing makes everyone happy. It originally was a problem of "Oh another VHS set where are my DVDs" and moved on to "FInally DvDs, OMG no original versions" Then "Finally original theater versions, wait no Bluray? OMG Lucas is just milking us." Well perhaps maybe he should have invested his money in fortune telling so he could make one ultimate version that will take into account every technology that will be used in home theaters for the next 30 years.

All i can say at this point i have said, as my son is starting to enter his teenage years and dad is far less cool then his appears to be right now, i have atleast 6 outtings now that I know were going to be able to share and enjoy together like we did when he was 6 and starting to see the movies for the first time. So no im not that upset by this in any way. I get to see them in theaters, again, and he will for the first time, and we can do it together.

    Why A Blaster?

I think one thing to take into account that many dont, is blasters inherent now makes up some difference in a long attack chain. Something that is not as apparent in early game play due to long recharges with no hasten or slotting. No stamina to maintain an attack chain etc.

I find it pretty easy on my blasters to maintain a steady 35 or so percent damage buff from the inherent power. I think also something to take into account is how many blaster sets offer damage types that benefit the player more then alot of scrapper or brute damage types.

When you figure that katana, claws, Dual blades, martial arts etc all offer basicly smashing or leathal damage, the most resisted damage type in the game, where most blaster sets offer energy, fire, ice etc, that will do more damage to NPCs due to the specialized damage type.

Simply put in most cases i find my scrappers might be stronger at keeping upright in the game, but that my blasters DO infact dispense enemies faster. So where i have the ability to cast more attacks and mitagate the damage with a scrapper they feel stronger attack wise where i feel my blasters actually do more damage but the longer i take to put something down the worse it is for me.

As to the OPs comments about dominators. Blasters are similar in the play style but they are different creatures. Blasters will kill slightly quicker but i would say leaving IOs out of the equations, that a dominator is comparable like a scraper, the status effects create a situation where your safer then simply casting damage damage damage.

I was in Atlas park with my new 4 level Kinetic Melee Scrapper when I got a tell asking if I wanted to join a team. I was at the entrance to the sewers about to broadcast and see if I could form one of my own and assumed whoever was contacting me was doing the same. Instead I discovered a mission in Peregrine island and the Tank that was the leader even asked if I wanted to use his bases teleporters to get there. I told him I was fine MY BASE had teleport and I'd be there shortly.

I arrived and made my way to the mission and was actually impressed .. the guy was a very good herding tank and the mission went very quick with no team defeats. I felt a little embarassed since I had a grand total of 4 attacks and hadn't even bothered to enhance with TOs yet let alone anything stronger but SSK was only giving me same amount of XP I'd have gotten if I was on a 4-5 level team and I was in the thick of every battle doing what I could to help.. hey if they didn't want a 4 level on a 50 level team then DON'T invite me right?

Okay mission ends and we start off toward the next one when this series of tells begins...

[Tell] Exxxxx: Hi.... Lookin for an sg?
[Tell] -->Exxxxx: I run one lol
[Tell] Exxxxx: unfortunate, i assume thats a no

Before I could even answer, and remember while I was STILL back in Atlas I mentioned I had a BASE with teleporters, the mission disappeared from my screen and I was back to level 4 again. I contacted the team leader and this was what I got in reply..

[Tell] -->Exxxxx: opps what happened? I got bumped off the team
[Tell] Exxxxx: no u were removed
[Tell] -->Exxxxx: I see Well THANKS so much for the 2 levels oh and I am putting you on global ignore Jerk

So Mister TACT contacted me out of the blue, I was not advertising that I was looking for a team and certainly didn't send him a tell begging to join, and then after one mission because I didn't jump at the chance to join his SG.. he kicked me and left me sitting in the middle of Peregrine Island with a character now facing villains 10 times stronger than my own. Fortunately I wasn't far from the Vanguard base and managed to get there without being killed. I reported him for grieving.. although I have no clue if what he did falls into that category under the TOS. Regardless it's a pretty sleezy way to recruit new members. Invite some low level to your team in a 40-50 level zone and then if they don't JUMP at the chance to join your group strand them there. If I'd run into anything I'd have been one shotted and then would have had an even LONGER run to get from the Hospital to the Vanguard base.. or run the OTHER way toward the base portal and TOWARD even higher level villains.

Anyone else have any stories like this?
Well all i know is to the first dude, i would have said..."well you know i would think about it, but your group seems to be kinda crappy at leveling. In my current group a new toon would go from 1-2 to about 12-13 off one mission. But thanks for the offer."

I mean seriously you got 2 levels? Seriously if your ever starting a toon on liberty look me up, i can get you to DOs atleast in one missions. LOL

As I implied before I haven't seen 5 solid minutes of Smallville in like 9+ years.
I guess i look at smallville much like when i used to collect comic books. I would find something about a book I liked, and i would collect it. However over time writers and artists moved on and i would like it less and less, however hold out hope and continue to leave it on my saver.

But also i have always found it hypocritical to hate on something with no ammunition as to why i hate on it other then what others say. For instance i HATE Twilight. I have seen the movies though, and feel by doing so atleast i can give legit comments to why i hate it based on my actual opinion and not just say "from what i have heard...." I dont HATE smallville, i just wish it was about 4 times better then it is. And frankly im ready for the series to end.

Oh and by the way, look into the writing process of a TV show. There are many factors outside of the writers' hands that crop up. Writers get too much praise/hassle for the stuff with their name on it in hollywood, because most of the time they have very little say in the process and what they wrote is almost never what shows up on the screen.
I dont think anyone is trying to hang the blame on any one writer or set of writers. However the fact remains that weather if its the blame of the team that writes the script, a director that rewrites it, a studio that cuts scenes and effects for budget reasons, producers pandering to the demands of DC as to what can or cant be shown etc, what it boils down to is there is a final script for every episode, and no matter how many hands that script has gone through and who is responsible for the final say and approval, pretty much what everyone has said, its the writings fault, is basicly true. Now you might be ok with it and thats great for you. However i think just like any other comic property the final worth is almost always more in the story being told rather then the pictures telling it. Heck Frank Miller is a terrible artist, but Dark Knight returns is a great book for the story it tells. I think the same goes here, yes production values might be better then they used to be, however the overall stories being told are still weak sauce so i really dont care how many blurred punches he throws or bullets he bounces off his eye.

So perhaps its better to say that rather then bad writing its a bad production crew, to many cooks in the kitchen or whatever. If there is one apparent pattern to me, its that the best episodes of late have been the ones with one or two popular names claiming responsibility for them like the JSA episodes. So since it seems that when the give creative control to one party like that the value of the episodes rise, then its safe to say the day in and day out production crew over muddles the standard episodes.
