    3.25/.05 = 65. You're correct.

All the cutscenes in this game use the same graphics engine as the rest of the game so there's not really any difference between the look of a cutscene and actual gameplay.

Glad to have it on my main acct though.
  7. My books arrived today - all five of them - I plan to start reading tonight. Hopefully these will keep me busy until season two!

Level doesn't affect drop rates, so you're only hurting your chances by going above +0 by making it take longer to kill stuff. Stick with +0.

  10. Ordered all 5 from Amazon last week and I'm told to expect them Wednesday. Really looking forward to reading them.
  11. I've always been a fan of the "single brute surrounded by corruptors" concept. Pretty much any brute, pretty much any corruptors (although as noted above, storm's kb may not be the most desirable for this scenario. Same could be said for Energy blast)
  12. I think you're doing it right. I've sampled all those methods and I still do a little of all of them now and again, and I found the most profitable were AE tickets for bronze rolls and craft-and-sell marketeering.

I personally don't like the ticket rolling as much because of the need to sift through the trash for the gems. It also takes a lot longer to go through one "cycle" of generating goods and listing them. I much prefer the relative predictability of marketeering, and the smaller time investment as well.

edit: By "longer" I should clarify that I mean it takes more active time to farm tickets, roll, pick out the good stuff, get salvage, craft, and list; compare to throw up bids for recipes and salvage, log out and do other stuff, come back and claim purchased items, craft, and list.
  13. My SG is going to queue up Scirocco's third and fourth arc, culminating in repeated runs of the final mission to defeat Lord Recluse, because he drops a ridiculous amount of XP.
  14. I just think it would be easier to add an alignment display to the target display, friends list, etc. Whether it's text or just the appropriate icon.

  18. Honestly I think it would be a very good idea (however impractical) for them to just completely do away with the different mechanics for Zone PvP, before Freedom launches. I know it won't happen. But new players first walking into a PvP zone and finding completely different rules from what they're still trying to learn in PvE is just going to send them right back out of that PvP zone. Having a separate ruleset for PvP creates a barrier for new players, which is ironic, since the intention was to make PvP more accessible to new players. I'm not really sure how they thought that would work, but there you have it.

I also agree with Bionic Flea above me who said that the old system, while it had flaws, at least had checks and balances.

However, since I know that can't happen, I must agree with Xanatos here - if there is any way you can turn off travel suppression and heal decay, please, please do it. It's a good first step, it certainly sounds like low hanging fruit, and it would alleviate the most dramatic differences between PvE and PvP.

  20. I agree completely about the resolution and graphics part. That should be a setting that you choose the first time the game is launched, before character creation begins.

I'm not too worried about the mouse inversion because I prefer it that way.

I do think that there should be at least some cape options in from the beginning for new players. Back in 2004 when there were no other Super Hero MMO's (and this one hadn't worked out the tech for capes to function properly at launch) it was okay to have to wait a while. These days, when someone logs in to make their brand new super hero and can't give them a cape... it's just embarrassing. At least let new players have the plain cape with no patterns - or minimal options for patterns.

Of course, with Freedom coming out I know that they can (probably?) buy access to capes right away and that's cool. I still think it might be good to give everyone at least a basic cape option right from the start, especially if they are going with a VIP account.
  21. I can't speak to the Ice/Rad because I've not played Ice Blast past 30, but my main is a Fire/Rad and she's an absolute monster in end game content. Now that she has t3 and t4 incarnate powers, she solos giant monsters like they were bosses. She's built for permahasten and perma AM, and raw damage (Musculature, Pyronic, Warworks, Reactive, and Clarion). I can post her build when I get home from work, if you're interested.

I really think I'm just burnt out on fantasy, pseudo-fantasy and political intrigue stories these days. I stopped watching Dexter after the third season because I started wondering why it was I was empathising with a serial killer ('but he's a good serial killer!'). Dexter's a power fantasy in the end, getting away with murder. Everyone's had at least one dark fantasy like that, Dexter just embodies it.

I think Game of Thrones to me is an extension of that; we'd all like to be clever, devious people who come up with clever ways to get rid of our rivals. I admit freely that's just my impression without reading the books or watching the show. It's never gotten my interest enough to watch one episode yet.

That might change, but I feel burnt out on a lot of tv shows because they feel all same-y or don't last long enough to get your interest. I had a friend joke to me that Game of Thrones will just go the way of Rome by getting two seasons and then cancelled because it's too expensive to make or the initial interest dies off. Rome I really got into, but I'd always had an abiding interest in the Roman culture.

I also admit, there was something disincentivising for me in hearing from a friend 'well, what happens is that Martin makes these compelling and interesting characters, and you'll get attached to them...and then they'll die. He'll just kill them.'

I'm not sure what the appeal is in that? Would I want to see characters I like get killed off abruptly? Again, without reading/seeing it, it feels like 'shock storytelling'. Like the story isn't interesting enough in itself, so a sudden shocking death will keep you interested. But again, this is what happens in so much of the tv I can't bring myself to watch anymore. Stargate:Universe was a show I couldn't even watch one episode was because the concept was all 'hey, we're all screwed up in some way and some of us are gonna die, just like in Battlestar Galactica'.

I'm a grownup, I know things don't always end cheerfully or with a happily ever after. I experienced a sudden brutal death in my real life when my mother died after a horrifically short six-month battle with myloid leukemia. And maybe that's the crux for me; stuff like that isn't interesting, it sure isn't entertaining and you'd do anything not to be a part of it. I feel it's hard for me to take interest in how brutally unexpected life can be when it's the last thing you'd want to do. And it feels a bit masochistic, too. But hey, that's just me.

I dunno, maybe someone can engender some interest in the show for me.

    S.
I understand the feeling of not being able to get interested in something that's been highly recommended - I've been there with a few things recently - but from reading your post it almost sounds like you're looking for reasons not to be interested. You make a lot of conclusions about things without actually having seen the show at all, and that's not really fair.

The deaths of central characters in this series doesn't feel like shock storytelling used in place of actual plot. On the contrary, the deaths of those characters seemed the only logical outcome of their actions and the actions and motivations of other characters. The story is driving itself along its natural course - I haven't once felt the hand of the writer pulling the plot away from where the characters are taking it.

I'm not trying to convince you to become interested because, like I say, I understand that feeling and nothing anyone else can say is really going to change it. And aside from that, we all have our own tastes and maybe you wouldn't like it if you did watch it. But it just bugs me when someone comments on the quality of writing and storytelling in something they haven't read/seen.
  23. I wasn't sure about Jason Momoa as Conan until I saw him in Game of Thrones. After the fight scene where he rips the guy's tongue out (and probably most of his trachea and esophagus with it) through the gaping hole in his throat, I turned to my girlfriend and said: "You know, I believe that man could play Conan."

These pics are not making me any less optimistic.

Lost, meh. And Stargate SG-1 absolutely deserves to be on that list.

But in general I feel about this list the same way I do about all such lists... they are based on nothing more than opinions and therefore not really worth caring about. I can make a top ten list, too. I'm sure as many folks would agree and disagree with my list as do with this article.
