Quote:Good point. Also since I've been running the contest for this, I've been told of non pigg-diving ways of finding out info from the arcs if they're in the game but not unlocked. This patch quite possibly put that arc in the game which is why they revealed it before someone else did.

Quote:Now wait just a minute.Honestly ... Superman's (short-lived) death was revealed months before the comic came out. And it was still a great comic.
A monster that no one ever heard of crawled up out of the ground with no explanation and then went on a rampage destroying things for no apparent reason and Superman and the monster beat each other to death.
That's a great comic? -

Also revealed, Statesman was Bruce Willis the whole time.

Quote:I don't know if they would or wouldn't - but it seems like they would almost have to keep the legacy bases alive in some capacity - even if they made them uneditable - in order to avoid hurting player relations too much. This assumes that they don't come to the conclusion that it's just not worth it and they don't do a new system at all. Which is not safe to assume, but it's pointless to even bother discussing, otherwise. It (slightly) sounds like the issues with costumes - people have old parts/old bugged parts still on their character. They can still use it, usually, but can't ever edit that costume.
I'm not sure they'd keep "Editor 1.0" and "Editor 2.0" around for those who don't want to rebuild. Especially if they add some new features/items for use in bases (heh... yeah, sure.)
Quote:The storage transportation is probably the biggest hurdle - but don't forget other items are created and (to me, at least) can be irritating to have to re-create (and dig up the appropriate salvage, etc.) -
Quote:Question not just for you, but for others that feel this way - I myself have a couple of bases that I wouldn't want to see destroyed, but I think I'd be okay with the following alternative. Do you think this would be acceptable?:Absolutely not. I have put far, far too much time into my bases to be willing to give them up. For me this would be too much. It would be enough to send me to another game.
- Brand new shiny base editor that can do all the great things we've wanted for years replaces the old system.
- Once the new system is live, no new bases can be created with the legacy system.
- Keep the legacy bases, with the ability to modify them using the legacy tools - and the understanding that no new features will be added to the legacy base editor (bug fixes will still be done).
- Allow base editors who have built bases under the legacy system to delete those bases and replace them with bases designed with the new system. Once the legacy base is deleted, though, there is no going back to it. (as mentioned above we would need a way to easily and reliably transport stored items from legacy base to new base)
What's interesting to me is that now that I have typed all that up and read it back, I realize that given that system, I am almost certain that I would voluntarily tear down my old base and rebuild it.
I know that not everyone will feel this way, but I'm interested to hear if anyone would be opposed to a solution like this, keeping in mind that without a new base editor we are unlikely to see any significant improvements at all. -
Quote:Coincidentally, My girlfriend and I watched both the newer version and the 1981 version on Saturday. I agree with Lothic here - the original was vastly superior in every way, with the unfair exception of special effects. But even there, the original made better use of what was available at the time than the newer film did.Just about the only thing the new Conan movie had over the old one was perhaps a few better special effects, a few minutes of Ron Perlman and a few minutes of Rose McGowan. In pretty much every other way: story, characters, acting, music, etc. the Arnold movie is still the far more enjoyable version.
To me, the newer film felt more like a generic action hero in a generic action movie - there was nothing interesting or special about Conan as a character. Nothing in this film even came remotely close to the original film's "Conan, what is best in life?" and "Grant me revenge! And if you don't listen, then to Hell with you!" and on and on...
I could go on for hours about all the reasons the original was better, but I will spare you the rest of the rant. -
Quote:That works perfectly for me. I've marked my calendar. Thanks for putting this together and I look forward to seeing you there!I will be looking into getting a semi-private area reserved for us Saturday the 18th of February. I am going to go ahead and ask for this day off from work as well, take a leave/pass day if I need too.
I hope this day works for everyone, and thus far it seems to be an ok date, (past the mid point, on a Saturday, etc etc...) and I am taking Quasadu's advice, This is when it is, I will announce times asap...
Hope to hear confirms from you soon, I will begin advertising to the other servers en-masse when I have the confirmation from D&B.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. -
Quote:D&B was great. We had a really good time. I would absolutely attend another such event.MM, I had never dealt with the D&Bers before, just the theater... but if you guys have run something from the D&Bs before and it worked out, then that might be the way to go, even if it is an Adult Chuck E Cheese...
I would be less enthusiastic about doing a movie since that is more time spent watching a movie and less time meeting and hanging out with cool gamers.
But yeah, count me in. I'm good for pretty much any Saturday after the first week of Feb.
Edit:
Quote:We could do a weekend thing, dinner at a restaurant to intro everyone then the movie or D&B the next day?
What do you think folks? Any ideas on what we could do to up the participation?
As far as increasing the attendance, it's been my experience that the best way to get a lot of people is to have a solid plan and say "this is what we're doing, this is when, this is where - be there!" When you have that kind of solid plan, and advertise it, you'll get a good turnout most of the time. If you spend a lot of time trying to hammer out the plan in an open forum, you get too many cooks in the kitchen and things can fall apart.
I'm happy to advertise this on the LiveJournal City of Heroes community as well. There are a good number of locals in that comunity (SpaceNut is one of them) who I think will be interested in attending. -
As someone mentioned above, they tried adding additional slots back when Issue 19 or 20 was in beta. They recently said that they are *still* finding things that it broke, months later. Which means two things: 1. They are still looking at it. 2. I wouldn't count on it ever happening.

You misunderstand. When I said "you misunderstand" I obviously meant "I can't read" >.>

Quote:.....Wow, that's awesome. I'm really happy that you decided to allow these to be earned in-game. The prices look very reasonable, and I think you just found yourself an awesome merit sink there. I'm normally not a fan of random rolling, but since you're rolling within categories, I'm even thinking about using them. The drops for VIPs is a good perk to add for VIPs, too.
Am I understanding correctly that purchasing them for merits is VIP only as well? It reads that way, but since you specifically mentioned drops for VIPs, I thought I'd ask for confirmation. I think it's a good idea to add some more VIP only perks.
Thanks, Positron.
What I meant was that I'm blind or can't read. -
Quote:Yep, same for me. Receive newsletter is marked as "Yes" on my account, my email address is correct (and I do receive support emails when I raise an incident, etc), and I have all @ncsoft.com emails marked as safe.I haven't gotten an e-mail in months, possibly years at this point. I've checked my account and you have my correct e-mail, I have receive newsletter marked as 'yes,' and I do not have anything from NCSoft blocked.
So can you please have someone look into why I'm not getting these?
I have not received a newsletter or promotional email in a very long time. -
I never got anything but I can't believe this was supposedly sent out much earlier than Nov 29, since the Weekly Strike Targets listed start with Nov 29.

Quote:Jay is still there - at least he was when they had that 12 hour Ustream marathon a month or so back.I seems like all this pre-tinting nonsense started happening when Jay mysteriously became silent and his name stopped being mentioned in conjunction with any costumes.
Does anyone know if indeed he has actually left and when? If Jay has gone it was definitely with very little fanfare. Which is surprising considering how long he was in charge of costumes and was with the game.
If Jay is not leading the charge then someone needs to start looking real hard at the direction costumes have started to head to.
I think they might keep him on a much shorter leash, at least with regards to forum posting. His posts were too sexy. -

Just gonna pop in here to add my voice to those asking to please keep the fog. The fog makes DA unique and spooky. Don't get rid of it.
And while we're at it, I haven't seen those shades that used to walk around in the fog in a long time. Those were awesome. What happened? -
