Nifty setup
My version of the SGC is still under construction and isn't a functional room, just decorative. Still got some things to change and add, but its coming along.
Gate Room
Gate Room 2
Conf Room
Cont Room
Wish we could use the big CoT portal in a base. That would make a much better stargate than a stack of floor safes, hehe. -
Remember Doc, pics or it didn't happen!

While ~450k prestige is what you could get leveling up to 50, there's nothing stopping you from continuing to play a 50 in SG mode after 50. In the last 10 months my toons alone have earned almost 10 million prestige for my VG, with my brute having earned almost 5 million of that. And my 50 scrapper broke 1 million for my SG within 3 months of being created (before the AE by the way).
Now, I know that's a rather large time frame, but most of this was earned before the advent of the AE. Even non-farm AE missions can be prime grounds for prestige earning. And the good old Task/Strike Forces can earn anywhere from 10-50k prestige, depending on which is being run.
Either way, it boils down to time spent. I know the numbers may seem large, but diligently playing in SG mode as much as possible, even beyond 50, will go a long way to earning what you need to at least get a functional base. And of course there is always the dreaded Inf>Prestige conversion, but unless you're one of the minority of ebil marketeers the 500:1 ratio for conversion can be very unappetizing.
Just my two bits... -
I'd be up for this, just for kicks, hehe. Depending on whats needed, I can bring a Brute, Scrapper, Kin corr or Dom (all 50's). Take your pick
-
Okay, turns out I don't have anything important to do Sunday, so you can bump me up to the "for sure" list if you like
Not sure yet if I'm just going to stay up all night until it gets started, or if I'm going to just get up early. Either way, I'll be a little groggy so bear with me until the caffeine kicks in, hehe. -
I could be game for it as its the last Shard TF I need for my scrapper. 6am (my time) is a little early though, heh. Put me down as a possible for now. I should know for sure by Friday night though

Hey Unitron. My home is on Guardian. You're welcome to hit me up on Hero side or Villain side and have a tour of my bases. If there's anything that you like, feel free to use it in your base. And if you'd like, I can plunk down an empty room in my Hero base and go over some of the tricks used in post-i13 base construction to help you with learning them. Global is in my sig ^_^

I would like to acknowledge thier participation in making my first Quaterfield TF an enjoyable experience.

Was my first QTF as well, hehe. Thanks for running it Blacjac, it was great fun ^_^ -
Alarm is set and I'll be in the Shard on Phil the Quill by 8 am. Any last minute suggestions for someone who's not done Quarterfield before Blac? Aside from having a pot of coffee ready, hehe.

EDIT: Ok, that was buggy. That reply was supposed to go into another thread.

Squeez Bacon, just to get it in here...

Whenever I see that stuff I shudder and the first word that goes through my mind is "Blasphemy!", hehe. I love bacon, but that stuff just smacks too much of Soylent Green
Edited for spelling -

8 am is a little early for me on the weekends, but I'd set my alarm for a Quarterfield, if only to get it out of the way on my Scrapper, hehe. Put me down as an "almost definitely", if you'll have me -

While we'd all like to know the real answer to this, SaintTzu is probably correct (a little farther up the thread)

Yeah, I figure that will probably be the case. But hey, a guy can hope can't he? hehe.
As for the badges, it'd be great if we can keep all the badges we've already earned, but it wouldn't surprise me if all/most of them are suspended while you are switched. The only ones that you could get to keep are the ones that have an equivalent on the opposite side (ie, various defeat badges and such). I could live with that, as I'm not a 'hardcore' badger. I do collect what I can along the way, but I rarely go out of my way to collect badges, with the exception being badges required for accolades.
And sorry ahead of time for one last slight derailment but I have to mention something about this:

Hell even with Willpower which has Stamina built in I still get the fitness version with it and even with all that attacking while keeping toggles on is a pain in the @$$ so I just stick with one or the other, not both at the same time.
[/ QUOTE ]
You seriously must be doing something wrong then. My SS/WP brute runs 8 toggles while in combat and has no issues except when fighting heavy end drainers. My Spines/WP scrapper doesn't even have the Fitness pool (yeah yeah, i know, but it works!) and he can run 10 toggles while in combat (including Focused Accuracy and Quills, both of which are heavy end drainers), and he can fight almost indefinitely without worrying about his end use. True, Spines is quite low on end use for the most part, but the fact that I can fight and run 10 toggles without worrying should count for something. Obviously you're having some kind of issue. Maybe your end use is broken, along the same lines as a couple stalkers I know whose stealth cap is broken. -
[ QUOTE ]
i dont count casual players, i count ppl as a pvper as if thats pretty much there interest in the game and their fairly decent at it.
not to say a casual player is bad or anything but there's just that feeling when your pvping against a pvper, like wow, and wham.
[/ QUOTE ]
I figured that might be the case, but I thought I might as well chime in to double-check, hehe.
And the PvP nerf bat aside, I'd probably PvP a little more if I could get a better hang of it. None of my 50's, even slotted as they are, are very good in PvP. I'm guessing its partly tactics, and partly slotting. I'm learning a little here and there, but certain people make it damn hard to learn anything except how to die, lol. And no Cronic, I'm not including you in that list, hehe. When it comes to you, I've learned to give you the utmost respect when it comes to PvP. You know your [censored], and while trash talking comes with the game, you're still willing to admit to a good fight no matter the outcome.
Come to think of it Cronic, maybe you could give me a few pointers sometime. I bow to your might and knowledge, lol. And I wouldn't mind being able to actually give you a run for your money sometime down the road -
[ QUOTE ]
lol theres all of about 8 or so ppl that even pvp on guardian these days.
(snip)
[/ QUOTE ]
There's more than that. Unless you're not counting the casual PvP'ers like myself that wander into the PvP zones (usually RV) and the Arenas only when we feel like it. I can come up with about 15-20 like myself, and that's just the ones on my Global. Once I'm done building my new PvP toon though, you'll probably see me in RV a fair bit more often.
Just had to toss my two bits in there... -
Thankfully I'm no Slim Shady fan, lol.
Welcome back Terror. Your break didn't last as long as I'd figured it might. Hopefully you brought cookies. The supplies are running low, what with Noire taking a break and Ulli eating the reserves, hehe -
[ QUOTE ]
I think the Market is completely out of control, and that is because of the Marketeers that control it.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is at least partly true. The other thing you haven't factored in is the AE. While expensive in some cases, the market was fairly balanced for the most part with most things going for almost set prices (or price ranges). With the addition of the AE though, many things have become almost as rare as water in Death Valley. It's starting to come back slowly, but only time will tell what the final effect on the market the AE will have.
[ QUOTE ]
This whole thread appears to me an attempt to get all us Base Builders to join them, and help drive prices even higher.
[/ QUOTE ]
This I can't quite agree with. It seems to me to be more a list of opinions and some discussion on the actual topic. If anything, comments like that are what is making you think this way about the thread (IMO).
[ QUOTE ]
My SG is where it is because of dedicated players. Not the Market, or the Conversion Factor.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same with both my SG and my VG. My VG was built from the ground up over the last year, with my Brute being the primary Prestige earner (4.2 million and counting). My SG was inherited from a friend who quit the game, but even there everything was payed for the old fashioned way; good old hard work. My marketeering is for the benefit of my toons, especially my 50's, to get them fully IO'd, not for Prestige conversion.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't want to become a Marketeer.
No thanks.
[/ QUOTE ]
No one is forcing you to become a marketeer. That choice lies solely with you.
Just my two bits... -
That's pretty sweet Evilynn! Mind if I steal that?
Gah, another edit for spelling. I really should stop posting with my brain on standby... -
[ QUOTE ]
Everyone allways complains about END on Scrappers and Brutes but I've never had that issue. The reason being toggles are what drains your end and I allways skip over them unless I'm a Tanker.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not just toggles. Attacks and travel powers will drain your End too, or did you think that they're free? Even temp travel powers drain End. Get Mids, learn how to slot properly and most (if not all) of your End problems will go away. And as a side note, if you're skipping toggles simply to save on End drain then you have a lot to learn.
Just my two bits. Now that I'm done contributing to the derailment of the thread to something other than GR, onwards!
I'm pretty sure this has probably been covered, but I'm too sleepy at the moment to read through the entire thread since my last post. What I'd like to know is what will happen regarding SG/VG memberships should you cross over to the other side? Will we be forced to drop from our current groups, or will there be a mechanic introduced that would allow a villain for example to retain his VG membership or vice-versa for a hero? I'm loathe to have my Brute's 4.2 million prestige (and his position as founder of the VG) go away into the ether, but the idea of crossing him over to hero side is just so tempting!
Edited for spelling. Need more sleep, but I've been told that's for the weak, so I guess I'll have to deal. -
[ QUOTE ]
As a note, a fully functional base costs around 3.5 million prestige to build with the post-Issue 13 prices. This means that a fully functional hero base would cost around 1.75 billion Inf to build.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ouch. That's enough to fully slot out my new scrapper and still have enough left over to get a good start on a second build or another toon, lol. I hadn't put any thought into the overall cost for a base (I just build as I can afford what I want), but I wouldn't want to be converting THAT much Influence when it could be put to much better use elsewhere. More points in favor of not converting as far as I'm concerned -

Mission ID #: Several missions, can't recall specific numbers
Bug Description: This has to do with the recent ticket cap placed on AE missions. I'm not sure if it's been brought up before, but I'm posting here at any rate. What has occurred several times now, with various characters (both Hero and Villain) is that I will supposedly hit the ticket cap of 1500, yet I will still be as much as several hundred tickets away from the cap. In one case I didn't receive ANY tickets on a mission arc, yet the text telling me that "one or more tickets have not been awarded etc etc" would come up any time there was an apparent ticket drop. This particular case occurred on a mission arc I had not even done yet, let alone run repeatedly. Also, in another case, I was for some reason able to far exceed the ticket cap for a mission map, almost double that of what the cap is supposed to be. I started the mission with only 1 ticket on the character, and finished the mission with 2725 tickets (not that I'd complain about that, lol).
Several friends have encountered similar problems with the ticket cap not functioning as intended, so I know I'm not alone in this. I'm assuming that the ticket cap is not working as intended for some reason, unless there is some function of the cap that I missed in the patch notes. While this doesn't affect gameplay, it is highly annoying to go through a difficult arc and receive little to no rewards aside from Inf and Prestige. -

Not going to go into the list as it'd be too long for a forum post, but suffice to say I've got access to over 35000 tracks, and Winamp is usually on random reading from the master list. Something of everything in there, from ABBA to ZZ Top and everything in between. If I put together a shorter playlist, it's usually a lot of metal, some rap and maybe some oldies. oo, and some classical in there too. Can't go wrong with the 1812 Overture while beating on Rommy at the end of the ITF, hehe. -
Oops, sorry. Didn't catch that, heh. Thanks Wulf

If you've got the Prestige to upgrade your plot slightly, you can use the extra space to remodel your base and move rooms around without having to clear them out. Then, when you're done, simply downgrade the plot back to its original size. I did this with both of my bases after i13 went live, and it saved a lot of time. Downside is you have to have the Prestige available to upgrade the plot, but you do get it back when you downgrade.
