/em wonders when the devs are gonna realize that Force Bubble has the same "problem" that convinced em to zap Hurricane.
[/ QUOTE ]
I honestly felt the nerf to hurricane wasn't necessary. The worst parts about getting debuffed by hurricane was the nasty to-hit debuff and its -range. The -tohit was easily countered at the higher levels(FA, AIM, BU, etc). The -range was the only form of mitigation against ranged toons for the Storm summoning set. It made only since that storm should be able to keep melee out when they are so vulnerable to everything else.
I feel that the change to the repel ticker on hurricane wasnt necessary considering the small radius hurricane has. With the patch melee can easily run in and get their swings in before the repel kicks in. From what I've tested the -tohit and -range only affect the enemy when they get hit by the repel so alot of the times melee can get their hit in before the repel, -tohit and -range take affect. This defeats the purpose of what hurricane was meant to do for the set. My opinion is that the repel ticker should have been increased on force bubble not hurricane. Not because it's overpowered but because forcebubbles radius is so much larger. Melee literally had no chance of getting through force bubble and a decent chance with their ranged epic attacks.
I feel they should restore hurricane to the way it was before the 3/31 patch. Melee AT's get plenty of options later on to counter almost every effect hurricane does. Melee AT's get a ranged attack or hold which counters the hurricanes small radius. Melee AT's in CoH get Focused Accuracy which easily counters the tohit debuff in hurricane. Hurricane shouldn't be able to permanently pin someone but it should atleast keep melee toons away. That was the definable power for the set that made them survivable in pvp and pve.

Nice post Mormon. You are absolutely correct that in the later stages of the game there are innumerous ways to get through the -to hit debuff of Hurricane...and this was before the 03/31 patch. In fact, in the 40+ game, I don't even use Hurricane for that anymore since everyone and their brother has FA, BU, AIM, etc. Quite honestly, this change to Hurricane is going to kill the Storm Summoning set.
We have to be able to get in the thick of battle...we have no self heal and do not have the ability to use debuffs from range. If anything, I think that Hurricane should INCREASE with level to offset the melee capability to pick-up accuracy enhancing powers like the ones I mentioned above.
An EM tank with FA drops your Hurricane toggle and you are as good as dead, and that EM tank with FA will hit you 9/10 with Hurricane on at the higher levels. Hurricane most definitely did not need a nerf, if anything it needed a scaleable boost as the stormer gains in level to make it still effective at the higher levels.
I hope this change that Castle proposes takes this into account. His comments were rather ambigious, so hard to say..... -
Excellent summation Stormbringer....Storm defenders and controllers MUST have great melee protection because they must be up close and personal for any of their powers to function.....They have NO ranged protection and with powers like Focused Accuracy, the debuff from Hurricane was negligible as it was......now, it is just flat out useless.
I hope Castle takes this into account and boosts the effectiveness of Hurricane to offset the nerf of to hit debuff enhancements...If Storms can't get in the thick of things, we are useless. -
Personally, I think tanks should become the "main" detogglers.....other classes like Blasters should have it removed completely...pretty much like Scrappers have no ability to detoggle.
This would actually give tankers a place in PvP...right now, tankers are pretty much useless for the most part in PvP.
Or, if Blaster do keep a bit of detoggle ability, tankers should be much better at it.... -
I agree....used to be you would send in a petition and a GM would show up and actually try to help you in game...now, you wait for hours only to learn that a "pre-generated" email response is sitting in your in-box...
What happened to GM's actually being available "in-game" and helping you out with your problem? Seems to me things would go a lot faster of the GM's just helped you in-game rather than going through a dozen emails back and forth....Typically, it takes me 2-3 emails before I actually email with a "living person" and not some pre-generated canned response. I think their support system looks for key words in a petition and it just sends you back a pre-generated email about that item.
Half the time, these pre-generated emails have nothing to do with "your" bug, but another bug. For instance, you could send in a petition that your badge for killing Ghosts from the Ghost Ship isn't displaying properly and you'd get a response back that says "We're well aware of the fact that the Ghost Ship is stuck in Talos Island. We're working on resolving this issue as soon as possible."
[censored]?
So, now you have to go through 2 days of back and forth of explaining and re-explaining your problem just to get through the automated support messages. I picture the Support area of NCSoft as that one Nemesis misson where you have to fight the Nemesis automatons and they're all robotic and just keep saying the same programmed responses over and over, lol...."Bzzzt...who made the coffee this mo-rbzzt-ning?"
hahahaha..... -
A nerf on Hurricane would be silly.....the power is easily overcome by being on a good team and properly buffed....heck you don't even need that with powers like Aim, Rage, Focused Accuracy, Yellow Inspirations, etc. etc.
There are MANY other things that need to be looked at in PvP and Hurricane is not one of them....Energy blasters dropping multiple toggles with every hit being one of them..... -
I like the idea of Prestige being attributed to a Supergroup...I think you should earn Prestige whether you are in SG mode or not....However, maybe you earn a bonus if you are in SG mode.
This is a good idea and more should be done to spur on the comraderie among SG's.....Supergroups should be able to affect other SG's they are in Coalitions with.
For instance, if I'm in a "prestigious" Supergroup and form a Coalition with a "up and coming" Supergroup, that Supergroup should get a bonus to their prestige earned by being linked with the prestigious Supergroup.
All in all, I think this is great!!!!! -
Ok, so you say Invulnerable is better against some damage types and Ice is better against others States....but the numbers I'm seeing tells that the AMOUNT Invulnerability is better than Ice is OFF THE CHART!!! Not to mention Invulnerability is EXTREMELY better against the most common damage type, that being Smashing/Lethal!!
I guess that all this may depend on the Damage Debuff you propose with Chilling Embrace to mitigate this...but without the facts, it does appear that there is a BIG difference still between Ice and Invulnerable tankers.
To be honest, I was COMPLETELY shocked by the nerfs to Ice tankers, lol...but what do I know? I can see where your going with this, some tankers are better against some forms of damage - each has their caveat so to speak.
However, realize that superior effectiveness against Smashing/Lethal has a MUCH greater impact on the game, then ANY of the other damage types. Especially, when I look at Circeus' response with your updated numbers and the Smashing/Lethal difference is still in the triple digits -while Ice's superiority to the other damage types is no where near this level.
Again, I applaud what you and the devs are trying to do right now, but let's get it right this time for all the AT's. This back and forth with AT's changing drastically every update is killing me! -
I don't understand the point of these threads.

Thanks for the suggestions...we'll definitely revisit the Shard to add new content (badges, missions, etc.), reformat current TF's (a little less grindy), make the teleporters fit the zone better, etc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Isn't the whole point supposed to be, you ask for comments from the player base on listed changes so that any modifications can be made BEFORE they are added to the Live servers????
What is the point of the test server and these developer threads, if things are just pushed through anyway and brushed to the side with comments like "we'll definitely revisit the Shard"???
I hope you mean "we'll definitely revisit the Shard" BEFORE I5 hits live!!! Otherwise, what is the point to all this??
The teleporters would be much cooler if they were mole points. Heck, you already have the basic graphics for the mole point caves....Finishing the graphics for the mole point in the Cascade Archipelago would help too...running around invisible machines, boxes, etc. is not fun nor does it add to the "feel" of the game
You know, there's an old saying that the devs should consider as a motto....Do it right, or don't do anything at all.....
One recommendation I would have is stop with the HUGE updates, where everything is changed at once. It seems to me that things would be much more efficient with smaller, more regular updates, so that less things slip through the cracks and you don't have a mole point where the graphics for the entire room don't exist.
I realize the updates are free, but they are also unavoidable. The player base has no choice but to buy in to the developer's vision for the future....and for those of us who care about the game, it would be nice if our suggestions that make sense actually get incorporated into the patches BEFORE they hit live....not 6 months down the road, if ever.
How many things have been put on the "thanks for the ideas, we're looking into it" file, never to be heard from again??? -
First off, let me say happy birthday to Statesman!
Secondly, I've met Statesman on a few occassions at conventions and he's always been a relatively nice guy. Like I said in my original post, I'm not going to say he was Mr. Charisma but he was a nice enough guy. Listened to fans, did the comic book trivia which was fun, handed out stuff, talked a little (and I do mean little) about upcoming events in COH, etc.
My statement was ONLY based on recent comments of people on the board, not really based on personal experience. My whole point was, if the whole convention thing is starting to be a grind for him, it may be better to take some time off then to consistently be in a bad mood at these PR functions.
Just a comment or a suggestion, no need for flames..... -
You know....more and more people have stated that Statesman is in a bad mood or "pissy" mood when they talk to him at these conventions. I've met Statesman and I would bet even when he's in a good mood, you wouldn't describe him as charming. I am assuming that Statesman is there to represent the game, answer questions, and act in a public relations fashion.
Is the attitude he gives off good public relations (and this is not an isolated incident)? Look, I'm sure the guy gets asked the same questions over and over and over and over, etc. - but hey, that's what these conventions are all about - promoting the game. To be honest, it would probably be better if he not showed up at all, then to consistently be in a pissy mood and treat fans with contempt or disrespect. Hell, hire some PR people to represent the game, to answer questions, hand out prizes, etc.
This is not a direct criticism on Statesman....hell, I would HATE having to go to these conventions all the time and answering the same dumb questions over and over...or being hounded about nerfs to this and that. But that's what is going to happen if he works these shows, so either put on Mr. Smiley face and work the PR or don't go to these things.
And to be honest, he never "really" answers a friggin' question anyway! So, really, what the hell is he doing at these things?? It's fairly obvious he HATES doing them and answering the same questions over and over....are people really going out and buying COH after a charming conversation with Statesman?? LOL My guess is no. He also is always tight lipped about new happenings in the game - so he isn't much of a PR/Salesman AND he doesn't answer a great majority of the questions people want answers for, so what's the point? LOL
Just one guy's observation....... -
Sleep does not break on an attack, it breaks on a hit. What you're referring to was changed in the last update.
-
what are you wooting? Statesman said nothing. Geez, if the guy took a [censored] you'd probably cast it in bronze.
-
Statesman,
I think his point is this. I've roamed through the hazard and trial zones solo and in teams, the number of minions/lt. within a mob doesn't change with group size. They don't, I've been through Perez Park, Sewers, Faultline, Boomtown, Terra Volta, Dark Astoria, etc.
The spawn size is always the same, no matter the group running through the area. The mob make up is always the same. Pardon the pun, but it's like "clockwork".
If 3 minions = 1 hero, I've NEVER seen a mob with 24 spawns in it for a group with 8 heroes. The mobs don't change size, or if they do, I'm not around to see it. Considering the mobs are pretty statically sized in these areas, I'd rather form a small team and kick *** for more xp and more CHALLENGE, then a larger team and get less xp and less challenge.
If I go into Faultline, it is always the SAME mob of clockwork, or the SAME mob of Vahz. Doesn't matter the time of day, the team size, the level of the team, etc. I know where to go to get higher levels or lower levels of the appropriate gang. If the game is making changes to mob make-up, I don't see it nor have I ever observed this in the countless hours I've played the game. Every mob is typically within 1 or 2 levels of each other in these zones and are typically identical in composition. Some minions (don't have an exact count, always the same number though - never dramatically changes one way or the other), a couple cannon knights, a couple tesla knights, a couple princes, (clockwork ex. from Faultline). Doesn't matter the team size nor the level, always the same. -
I have heard they are adding a lower level trial mission to Faultline, thereby making it a Trial Zone.
-
I completely agree! I often am being sked or sking another friend which halts any use of Hazard Zones. I actually like the Hazard Zones, but if it means dropping a friend from the team, I won't do it. Remove the restrictions for Hazard Zones, please!!!
