Which controller pets summon at level 50 ?
[/ QUOTE ]
Should be all of them except Fire Imps.
I haven't gotten down to the mastermind forum yet (just got home from work), but I suspect there's probably a huge row going on there, since this affects 5/6ths of their henchmen.
[/ QUOTE ]
however, since they can only slot the set once, the only thing that should be an issue would be the proc.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um... no, not really. Slotting any of the enhancements in any of the tier 1 (max level 48) or 2 (max level 49) henchmen summon powers, or Fire Imps (max level 49), has exactly the same result as leaving those slots completely empty.
[/ QUOTE ]
you misunderstood me.
You can still slot it in the tier 3 pet, giving you the set bonuses, etc, the only thing they lose out in doing this is the BU proc only affecting 1 henchman rather than 3.
however, I do see your point about frankenslotting. -

DEFENDER GUIDES
This thread is for posting Guide or FAQ links for Defenders. Please create your guides in the "Player Guides" forum (since posts in that section do not roll off) and link the thread here. Also, do not post your guide in this thread - only the link to your guide. For non-Defender guides, check the master list of all Guides in the Guide to Guides.
Failing any clear identifier from the poster, I will go by the original post date vs. Issue releases (I1: 6/30/04, I2: 9/17/04, I3: 1/5/05, I4: 5/5/05, I5: 9/1/05, I6: 10/28/05, I7:6/6/06, I8 :11/28/06) - e.g., if it was posted in March/05, it is an I3 Guide.
If you wish to submit a Defender guide to the list, please place the link in this thread. We cannot sift through the hundreds of individual threads to find a posting, so be sure to 1) place your guide in the "Player Guides" forum, nowhere else and 2) post a link to it in this "Defender Guides" thread!

[ QUOTE ]
The thing with rads is that they are pretty much the best at AV killing since they have so much -regen in their set. The -to hit is just gravy on top of things.
storm also has -to hit with hurricane but it's pretty much useless since you have to close in to make it work, which increases the chance of getting hit by PBAoEs. A dark defender works better in those types of situations, and has -regen from HT.
[/ QUOTE ]
-regen is resisted by AV resistance, -resist is not, therefore, -regen is less effective than -resist
also, Dark is 1. not available to controllers, and 2. does not fair well against purple patch or AV resists.
Using Darkest Night and Fearsome Stare (both slotted for 3 to-hit debuff) against a level 53 AV gives a whopping 5.7% tohit debuff, while Defender TA will provide 9.75% -
Empathy and Pain, they're the two most reactive sets.
Kin might work, but even it's got a fair amount of mitigation. -
I think you first need to answer the question, what do you find fun on villain side?
I personally love defenders and controllers, just about any combination, they all play slightly differently, they're all loads of fun.
I also like some tanks, mainly because I tend to play them similarly to my Controllers, the exception being using taunt etc as crowd control rather than holds/stuns/confuses. -
I am, by no means, saying that TA is better than Rad, I dislike getting into "this set is better than that set" arguments, because it's all relative.
All I was pointing out is that TA is better for to-hit debuffing the AVs in the STF. -
[ QUOTE ]
For you to get your first 50. I'm asking this out of a somewhat self-pity because a month or two ago I got my 12 month vet award and my highest level toon that I had was a level 21 that I will scrap as soon as i get a toon to the same level. If you plan to ask What my play time/style I usualy only got to play on weekends for about 5 hours at a time. So back to my original question how long did it take you to get your first 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
19 months for my first 50, I think he had about 250 hours on him, I teamed quite a bit on him.
Psyonico hit 50 just a couple months back, almost 3 years, but I solo'd him quite a bit, and was always frustrated because I couldn't find teams, he probably had about 350 hours on him to 50. -
so... I've got this funny feeling she's not going to give you the satisfaction of posting in this thread.

[/ QUOTE ]
How much is it boosting your personal offense compared to other sets?
[/ QUOTE ]
Repulsion Bomb is a fair offensive power, making 1 of 9
Compare that to Dark Miasma, also only 1 power that boosts your offensive prowess
Pain has 2 powers that boost you offensively solo -
[ QUOTE ]
With enough Rad's, you could also floor her To Hit enough so that her heal wouldn't hit.
[/ QUOTE ]
TA will do it better, since flash arrow is unresistable.
Basically, RI slotted with 3 to-hit debuffs is about 39% -tohit, she's level 53, so that means your debuffs are only working at 65%, so about 25.35%, factor in the 85% debuff resistance after that and you're looking at a whopping 3.8% to-hit debuff, even with 8 rads, you're still going to be well below the to-hit floor (30.4%)
Flash Arrow 3 slotted will give about 7.8% to-hit debuff, meaning you'll floor her at 6 TAs. -
I've run an event for Repeat Offenders called the "ROlympics" which was sort of what I thought you meant, I also put together a story arc based on a sort of "HerOlympics"
my personal runs have been time-based. Usually see who can run a specific TF the fastest, but you've got sort of a fun idea, though it sort of seems like a bit of a waste of dev time. -

What makes Force Field not villainous enough? Masterminds get it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the consideration was that, for a Corruptor, Force Fields were seen as being too team-focused, and that thematically a villain might be more out for themselves. Empathy also had that stigma, until they got over themselves and made PD.
Masterminds got it for two reasons: Robots already had some bubbling, and Masterminds are intrinsically interested in their team, even if it's only their henchmen.
[/ QUOTE ]
A set that has exactly 2 team-cast powers is too team friendly? -
I've had far more failed attempts at the STF than I have with the LRSF...
actually, come to think of it, I've never actually failed a LRSF. The only 50 villain I have is a Stone/Elec brute, usually he winds up tanking, because somehow everyone else is more squishy than he is.
I've never had to fight more than 2 vindicators at a time, if you are fighting more than 3 at a time, you're doing something wrong, I regularly pull 1 at a time.
as for the last mission Freedom Phalanx, yes, that mission is hard, and yes, it can be completed without a mind dom or nukes.
Here are a couple strategies I have had work successfully, some work better with certain team makeups than others.
1. Pull with a stalker. This is probably the most difficult because it requires a stalker who took their snipe and a team-mate with Recall Friend. It goes like this, everyone gets as far away from the Phalanx as possible, the stalker turns on TP prompt and gets to the max range of his snipe, targets an outlier member of the Phalanx. Cue up Recall friend, when the dialogue box pops up, the stalker snipes then gets tp'd back, usually you'll manage to pull 2 or 3, I have seen 1 get pulled, but it's less common than 2.
2. Inspirations. This one hopes you have Veng/recall and/or some team-mates who can provide +def or +res. This is the most fun, if you ask me. basically, you stock up on the defensive inspiration that you don't have covered, so if you have a cold/FF/Veat you load up on oranges, if you have a Son/Therm you grab purples. every character gets to at least 50% resist and 30% defense then just charge the phalanx, targeting the most annoying AVs first. use any temps/pets/whatever you have, odds are you'll have to charge it a couple times, but you should be able to take them down slowly.
I've also successfully managed by just pulling an AV or 3 with my brute or having a corr/dom pull. Usually this is the hardest way to do it, because you'll most likely pull at least half of the phalanx, and usually people aren't ready for it. This one really does require people to be good at their characters and at teaming, otherwise you'll pretty much fail. -
Depending on how it works, I'll likely move at least one of my emps around between games.
Actually, my Emp/Son's back story was that she is a fortuna turned good (she used to be Emp/Psi) so she'll probably spend quite a bit of time wreaking havoc in the rogue isles. -
Kin/Rad is a bit difficult because you can draw lots of aggro to yourself without lots of ways to mitigate it (at least, early on)
that being said, if it sounds like a fun combination, try it out. The great thing about this game is you've got the opportunity to make so many characters, and really alts is what the game is all about. -

yes, in teams it's situational at best, but lets face it, it's essentially a penalty-free nuke. -
