According to my spreadsheet, I just hit 90% earned over all my day job badges hero side.
And have only earned Patroller!
46 days 5 hours 12 minutes 11 seconds left to go. -
/Rad is a proc machine.
I have the chance to heal, chance to hold, and I believe a damage proc in neutrno and x-ray.
I believe i have 3 damage procs in irradiate as well, as that's up fast enough and can hit a lot of targets that there's usually at least one that fires off... -
I think with something as subjective as the topic, and with one person's sole judgment, we're going to have this problem.
I knew that when I signed up for it, that it was basically a crapshoot if what my definition of the concept in question aligned with Aeon's. Going forward with other contests, it's going to be the same way. I don't have a problem with that, because having it defined any other way will result only in cookie cutter arcs and a stifling of creativity. -
Quote:So she worked with allowing Linux servers to communicate with Windows clients? Can see why she was paid so much then...Okay, CONGO refers to a place. (Well, multiple places, Congo Basin, Republic of the Congo, Congo River, etc).
CONGA is a dance. (Also a type of music and a drum.)
On a side note, the lead rat is wearing a hat with fruit, presumably a reference to Carmen Miranda. However, she was more associated with a style of music called samba. FYI, at the height of her career, she was the highest-paid entertainer in the U.S. for several years and also, at one point, the highest-paid woman in the country (earning $200,000 in 1945). -
Don't worry, I'm a fan of them myself. We're not alone out here...
-
Gratz, I'll be joining you with my hero in 62 more days, unless GR is out by then and I have to delay earning them all by another x months.
At any rate, keep the "All Day Jobs Earned" lounge warmed up for the rest of us! -
I asked only for people to donate to charities in my name (http://www.childsplaycharity.org/ or http://www.heifer.org). From the comments of family and friends so far, I've gotten that.
I arrived here at the parent's house earlier today, looked under the tree, and smiled as I saw nothing addressed to me there. I hope I wake up and I still have nothing under the tree... -
Ultmo, I contend you're putting too much emphasis on defenses. Try running a few test fights with Catburglar without Weave, or without Tough. That's less end drain, which is more for your blasts, which as pointed out don't have 3 damage. Adding a third slot is a good way to wring out more damage per end...frankenslot if you have to
Yes, I may have recovery aura, but regen aura is more important to me. Having nigh-unlimited end doesn't help if I die. Regen aura, with my IO bonuses, health, and yes entropic chaos procs, and heal aura give me a sort of 'regen blaster' aspect, which is syngertic with my primary. It's my main defense, with TI as a weaker secondary defense.
It sounds like you're trying to be both a defense god and a resistance god. Pick one, weakening a second, and try focusing some energy of the second into damage and/or end management.
What my videos don't show is that I pretty much don't run with any toggles, only when recov. aura is up. The funny thing is that's how I play my scrappers and tankers and night widow too. Solo with these, I generally only have my mez toggle on, and not running half a tray of toggles. And I don't take stamina, ever, on any character. (I don't believe in stamina...) I've gotten a DB/DA scrapper to 25 w/o stamina, shelving him when I started working on NW. So it makes sense that you're having end problems running 4 toggles (5 once you get TI). For normal fights solo that don't have bosses, your kb should be enough to offset incoming damage, and what you do take, since you have health, should be recovered by the next fight.
One other option for play style is not to 'jam' on attacks. Pause 1 second between attacks, even if you have one available to use, if you're having end problems. I'm pretty sure this suggestion won't be looked upon with favor by anyone, let alone you Ult, but it's there...
One last thing, you have AS, Hover, and Fly. Could drop AS or hover for aim, based on if you want more knockdown or ... um ... what ever it is people use hover for in place of flight... -
Quote:For an FF, I guess I can see the allure of reaching the soft cap.Psycho:
I wanted Weave, so I could approach the soft cap. Tough and Temp Inv. are for when I DO get hit (plus, they are in character for an armored hero).
As I say, I've been using inspirations instead of aim or buildup, but I can try rearranging a bt and see what it's like. The only concern I will have is that I may become too squishy.
I've always thought DPE should be equalized across all ATs and power sets, but one hurdle at a time.
But if you can live without being at the soft cap (And having TI for when you do get hit...) you can invest those points into more offensive capabilities. And you can always use aim and insps at the same time...
If things die faster, you don't need to be as protected as much, since dead mobs deal no damage.
The more and more I hear about your build and your playstyle (Tank pref) it starts to appear you're wanting to meander over towards tank mage territory. If you want to specialize in personal defense on an AT not known for personal defense, you're just going to have to suck it up and deal with reduced damage. If you want to do damage, it's going to have to come at a cost.
My empath once took down 2 stalkers in RV, back when RV first came around. They saw empath, thought they could do an easy 1, 2 double team. I downed them both, though it was a lot of work.
I tend to believe I'd be a god in PvP if I had a damage increase (And the desire to PvP), and I'm not a debuffing set. (A rad/sonic in PvP with a boost in damage...) (And a decrease in end costs *IS* a boost in damage, as more powers, less worrying about managing the blue bar with toggles, less trade off with recharge increases, etc)
It's this background that I, and I think a lot of the aggressive and non-aggressive people here speaking against you take.
Another twist, since you said you're a tank player. Are you playing your character like a tank, or like a blaster? Not in power choice, but in combat decisions. Are you standing still, or moving around to take advantages in terrain? (It'ss possible to knock back the EB, run off to certain locations in certain maps, rest for maybe 10 seconds, then be up before the EB gets back. Sure, you don't get full health/end from a 5 or 10 second rest, but it's increased regen/recov for those periods, and it's more than you would other wise have.)
I have problems playing scrappers or tanks because of my defender mindset. I always scan an entire battle, always looking around to see if there's mobs in coming. This mindset, while not applicable to the discussion, implies that there are different mindsets for different ATs (And given the difference withing the Defender Primaries, I'd argue there's different mindsets for the different general classes of 'fenders, buffer vs debuffer).
It may be that your prefered mindset and playstyle just don't mesh well with the blastfender. Which is a shame, an offender is a constant challenge, IMHO, to an otherwise easy game. (I'm sure scrappers don't look at bosses the same way my emp/rad looks and handles them. And normally I'm scared of them...)
None of this implies that there's a problem with the class the devs have constantly said is the most balanced one in the game, even if 50% of the forums say otherwise. -
I guess I have to ask why you need weave and tough, especially since you're taking power epic pool. TI will grant you about 45% S/L resists, and is one toggle, rather then the 3 or so you seem to be running. That will help with end.
I would suggest on the training room to drop all of the fighting pool, if not before, then once you get TI slotted, then try Catburglar again. Don't know what else you're taking (I'd wager you're interested in conserve power given your worry over endurance, but PBU is the true gem of the power pool), but run in with PBU and Aim, using PBU first then Aim for your alpha (As PBU will, I believe, boost the values of Aim), then alpha. You should be able to fire off 2 or 3 attacks in this state, and the damage increase should be notable.
To survive this onslaught, your primary and secondary both highlight knockback, so cycle through powers that have good chance for knockback to keep your foe on the ground. Air Superority might be worth the prereq for flight if that's your travel power. -
Well, there's one option, having gotten hints about your build.
Grab Aim over something in the fighting pool. That will increase your damage per endurance over the long run. I'm pretty sure every one who've posted videos soloing Catburglar has Aim. I have Aim and Power Build Up from the epic pool.
FF, Energy Blast w/ knockback, Fighting Pool toggles, it really sounds like your build isn't a fendblaster build, but a fendtanker build. You're not building the character to kill, you're building the character to survive.
I'd humbly suggest using your second build to try a more offensive flavoured style, dropping fighting completly and taking aim and maybe your snipe. Snipe because with your above average defense compared to other flavours of defender (dispersion bubble, maneuvers if you take it), you have a better chance of firing it off in the middle of combat without any interruptions.
Aim + Snipe in combat will increase your combat curve. One could argue that it's not wise, sniping in combat, but if you have a second build (Or copy over to training room and respec) why not give it a shot, to see where the rest of us are coming from.
You've said you're not the first one to suggest defenders need a damage boost, fair enough, wisdom of the masses and all.
The other half of the masses are suggesting fixes to your build to address the problem that you feel exists. Wisdom of the masses, which you invoke, suggest that there may be something to what we're saying about your build or your playstyle, rather than the wholesale change of defenders. Give the builds changes a shot, and maybe we can meet in the middle somewhere. -
I'll throw my hat into the ring, still trying to figure out this advertise your arc thing:

Quote:Naw, I'm just playing the first mission and bugging out afterwards...there seem to be way too many WWII themed arcs, video games, and movies in general, so I tend to glance over those unless I have a reason to...Suckers!
This--and Ultimo's "persona" extending back months and months--is all an elaborate performance art piece just to get you guys to try his AE arc! There's no real Iron Man knockoff! That's why his "numbers" and "experiences" don't match anyone else's! They're all in his head!
Well played, "Ultimo," well played. Guess that AE arc is moving up the ranks...
OP, as someone said, Rad Blast debuffs enemy defense, not resistance. So I'm hitting a lot more often than normal.
The one advantage rad blast has is not in its secondary effect, but in the amount of procs I can place into all my blasts due to the defense debuff effect. Even though a lot of people have shown that we can solo your EB, if you are still having problems, you have a few options:
1) Continue asking for a defender buff. You could get it if you can prove to the devs it is an issue.
2) Use existing tools to improve yourself. I can use a lot of procs, damage procs will increase your overall damage for the same endurance cost. You may say that your shouldn't need to use IOs, but if option 1 isn't going to work for you, then you need to so something, and damage or resist debuff procs could be a good way to go. ($deity_of_your_choice knows it has for me, every one of my attacks has a damage proc, and with the lower recharge of rad blasts they fire off a lot more for me...)
3) Change your strat. With all the kb you have, kiting could be a valid option. Hover blasting might work as well, melee mobs will spend a lot of time trying to jump into melee with you if you're positioned correctly. -

Quote:And yet, it's possible, Empath soloing EB CatburglarI still don't get what the problem here is.
EBs were never meant to be soloable, yet you cry about being unable to solo a (relatively) very powerful EB you made yourself with a weak soloer.
Beats me.
Defenders are fine. And if you think I sacrificed team ability to do this, fort, ab, and cm are slotted well enough. -
Oksah - my level 50 emp/rad defender.
Watch Oksah solo said boss twice, once with her normal build and once with an identical power and slot selection, only with normal IOs and lacking set bonuses.
Oksah's normal build
Oksah's basic build
Yes, I used insps. That's why I'm working on trying again, soloing this mob as an EB with both builds, without insps.
I post these videos with the fear that they will nerf defender damage...we're kinda strong as it is... -

How...how could I do a thing like that?
Send out the mail with its contents flat.
My hopes of winning now live in an acid-filled vat...

How, how, how could I do a thing. Like. That. -
You know me too well DB. Hey, you'll be there the day I earn them, right?
-
Does it count if I have 3 badges at 4 hours or less to earn?
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...hdXZKQnc&hl=en
3 more months and I can earn all of the badges in one day... -
Quote:And I know I'm not the only one who thinks the system is perfectly fine as is.The only thing that I see as laughable here is your necro-flame.
I know I'm not the only one who thinks 21 days is a bit high. You can disagree all you want, but that last paragraph was really unnecessary.
There's plenty of people on both sides of the equation. Which means it all comes down to choice, either you suffer through as it is or you accept it. It seems the devs think it's working fine as there has not been any hint of behavior changing, so those content are going to generally be silent, while those upset are going to be vocal.
As it stands, like Andrew Ryan, I choose something different, I choose the impossible, earn all the day job badges in one day. I now have 6 badges that are under 24 hours to earn, one at 15 minutes left to earn. If there are no new badges DJ badges, I should earn all of them around Aprilish. If it looks like there are going to be more in GR, I'll be adding a few months onto my impossible and silly quest. -
Quote:Same thing happened during last year's movie contest over at GameTrailers.BTW, I'd like to thank the other entrants who very generously ran my arc to give me feedback - I'm still working my way through theirs and will hopefully get done before the deadline tomorrow night in case of last minute tweaking!
It really says a lot about our players that even when competing, they still help each other.

I've only done this as an emp/rad, so if I can add one key point from my pov.
Make sure to CM everyone (or at the very least the squishies) during the Scirocco fight. His EMPulse will hit everyone, and while it might not kill on its own, it will stun folks not ready for it, which could set up for an unexpected kill.
If you have a rad blast secondary, for the love of god blast while fighting Mako, every little bit of -def helps on him. (Irradiate and Cosmic Burst especially, and what emp/rad doesn't take Cosmic Burst...) -
Quote:Please, for the love of all that is spandex and tights, please answer this.Honestly, what the blue blazes is the point of the Mashu Bridge?
It's not only a bridge 3 meter high over nothing, it has AN ENTIRE SUB-SECTION of the game devoted to it. Were you guys that sparse on ideas to populate Brickstown?
