    I have to ask what kind of differences? Like is the scrapper version out performing the tanker? I have a shield/DM tank and MA/shield scrapper both <10 and I have not noticed much of a difference in defense so far.
  4. Admittedly I have not played with shields enough to state how over or under powered it is. But in the short time I have played with it I did notice one thing that makes the set void for me; the animations (or lack of).

    What exactly is the point of the shield? When an enemy attacks my hero leans back (or throws up his right arm) just like a SR scrapper avoids attacks. Why is the shield arm not raising the shield to block the attack?

    I know this is kind of a minor issue but it is a game breaker for anyone who wants the feel to be right. Which I would bet is a lot of us.

    "Almost since launch"? Umm, your earliest example was WAY after launch. People exaggerate too much on forums. Lets be real here. Those examples you gave were from special marketing tools used for the sale of the game itself. This is a bit different because it is not a sale of the game with some perks. It is a bit of holiday event extras that they want us to pay for. Looks to me like the holiday events are going to stop being about fun and start being about money.

Last thing I want NCSoft to thing they can nickle and dime us to death like SOE does for microcontent.     Unfortunately there are SO many people who play this game that have a desire to have all content that your hopes will be dashed against the rocks. Not to mention the seemingly endless number of people who actually care about in-game marriage.

    Personally, I hate PvP because of the people that it attracts. People act as if they're the elite of the elite because they can deal enough damage to kill my squishy PvE blaster. It does nothing but encourage trash-talking because they know you can't reach through the screen and slap them.

    I was in Warburg where an Energy/something Tank was teamed with his Mind/Emp Troller brother. The Emp would sit in the water, where it was safe, and whenever his nigh-invincible brother would get in hot water, they'd run for each other, heal, buff, and then the emp would hit the water, and the tank would go about with his Energy Transfer/Build Up one-hit-kill. Oh, and calling them on this cheese-ball abuse of the zone was referred to as "whining".

    PvP brings out the absolute worst in people, especially with an unbalanced system. PvPers ignore the enemies in the zone in a relatively pointless battle of rudeness. I always felt that the purpose of a game is to have fun, not make everyone else around you feel like garbage.

    This sums up my feelings about PvP pretty well. It's not that I am against going head-to-head with other players. It's just that by and large the people that do it are the kinds of players I don't want in my game. Not all, but many. Too many for me to care about taking PvP seriously in this game.

    Now, I will say this; I love PvP in a PvP game. Such as the Battlefield series. Just not in my MMOs.

    Specifically:

    Melee AT's have a considerable lower Ranged Damage modifier than Melee Damage modifier. For Stalkers and Brutes, the Range modifier is 2/3 the melee modifier.

    So, if a Melee attack rated at 'High' does 100 damage, a 'High damage Ranged attack could be expected to do 66 damage before slotting.

    Which makes them fairly weak and almost pointless. I would rather have a choice that builds a lot on my strengths then a little on my weaknesses.

    Who gives a crap about fair? THAT is the problem with this discussion. The ATs do not need to be equal. You sit there and talk about how some people just need to be more skillful then you claim that we need equality in the ATs. Which is it? People have to learn to adapt or all ATs have to be vanilla?

    Tanks/Brutes have high defense and are hard to kill. That is how it is supposed to be. Just like blasters/corruptors have high damage and range attacks. They should fly around shooting at the melee folks. Is all of that fair? No and it is not supposed to be fair.

    The melee people should not have to worry every time they see a blaster run up to them. It should be the other way around; blasters should be afraid to get into melee range.

    I enjoyed destroying the world objects but on the mission I had I was perma slowed and perma blinded by the PD. I have to say my fun was greatly reduced because of that. All I wanted to do was get the hell out of the mission.
