We are continuing to look at the set. Being one of the new sets in the game, it is going to be scrutinized beyond just the Training Room server.

If the set continues to prove itself sub-par on the Live servers, then some adjustments will be made.

This was one of the hardest sets to define. It falls out of line with the "normal" Defender sets. It isn't a buff set, its a debuff set. Its really a different playstyle than Defenders have had before.

For those who complain that the Archetypes who have the fewest sets were overlooked... the next planned powersets are melee based.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That means blasters are getting our melee secondaries back, right?

    RIGHT?!?!?!!?!?!? GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!

I've been playing a Sonic/Energy Blaster on Test and really enjoying it.

    A few notes:
    - Sonic Blast seems mainly to have cone attacks and no AoEs aside from the final power. While I understand these power are coming from the hero's mouth, I don't see why they should all have to be cone attacks. When I speak, people can hear me even if they aren't directly in front of me. It should be the same way for Sonic attacks. Maybe not all of them have to change, but I think it'd be good to have at least one AOE before 32.

    - One thing you might've overlooked: Defenders get Aim powers in their secondary, Blasters get them in their primary. Because the Sonic Blast set for Blasters seems to be a direct copy of the set the Defenders get, a Sonic Blaster can get two forms of Aim. For example, my Sonic/Energy Blaster has Build Up *and* Amplify. I'd suggest replacing Amplify with a Snipe, since Sonic Blasters don't have one.

    - Also, I agree on the sounds. While sound doesn't play as big of a part in other powersets, Sonic is one that should be designed with it as a significant importance. Don't just reuse old sounds please. I especially don't like Shriek.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What in the nine hells are you talking about?
Build up comes in Blaster secondaries.
    Fire Blast- Aim
    Ice Blast - Aim
    Energy Blast - Aim
    Elec Blast- Aim

Almost every single Blaster primary has aim. This is nothing new. In fact, it is the intent, because blasters need ways to amplify their damage.

    Greetings all,

I am back from E3 and wanted to take a minute to answer some of your questions.

-The animation house that worked on the trailer is called Digital Frontiers
-I wrote the script for the trailer
-The sound effects and music were scored by Cryptic's Sound Maestro, Michael Henry
    -The voice actors:
Lord Recluse: Roger Jackson, whose many credits include giving voice to Mojo Jojo on Powerpuff Girls and the wicked phone voice in the Scream movies
Statesman: Jeff Kramer, a voice over and theatre veteran
Ghost Widow: Rebecca Wink, another veteran VO performer
Synapse: Greg Webber, owner of the fantastic Webtone (the studio we did the VO sessions at) and voice over actor.
Manticore and Captain Mako: Sean Fish (that's me, Manticore, for those who don't know)

Synapse is definitely a blaster. Keep in mind that the Signature Characters all have Signature Powers that may fall outside their normal power sets. The power to call Zeus' Lighning reflected on Statesman's Heroclix figure and Sister Psyche's Mindriding ability (the power to bounce her mind into someone elses body) are good examples of this. You will see these fairly often in our videos, comics and other licensed properties.

Foreshadow is a Korean Hero that is reborn each generation, but who alternates between good and evil. The current incarnation is just beginning to recall and come to terms with the terrible things that his previous self did.

The Scirocco shown in the trailer is indeed the most recent person to carry the Mantle of the Desert Wind of Destruction. Several of you have correctly identified that he is linked to the Order of the Four Winds. They are an order of Monks who seek out those individuals whose personalities fit the winds of the world. Sometimes those Mantles can be a heavy weight to carry.
Keep watching the fiction section of the new City of Villains website for further details on all the Signature Villains, from the perspective of the beautiful but deadly Ghost Widow.

I hope that clears some things up.

    ~M

Okay, but heres the real question.

The heck does Positron's voice sound like? He doesnt speak at all during the entire trailer. I'm guessing it'd sound a bit like an Uber Speak & Spell.

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

    Learn New Tactics

If the changing of a single power that your character has makes him "unplayable" then he/she was a flawed build to begin with.

Every time a power has been changed like this and the boards are with boards are filled with people shouting about the game being ruined (Caltrops, Smoke Grenade are two that come to mind), it's usually taken me about 30 minutes to adjust my playstyle and move on.

Just as in evolution, those that can adapt will thrive. Those that cannot will whine, cancel accounts and die.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unplayable? Hell no. Boring? [censored] YES.

Why the hell would I want to adapt my playstyle if there was aboslutely nothing wrong with what I was doing, and what I was doing was providing myself with almost endless hours of entertainment?

    Boring games suck.

Adapting wont make you thrive. You're still getting the shaft, no matter what way you look at it. Dont be so dramatic about it.

The nerf to SS and SJ is unneeded, idiotic in concept no matter HOW you look at it (as this is a superhero game, superspeeders wont miss a punch or two, they'll have MORE accuracy because everyone is moving slower then they are), and if anything warrants a swift kick to the [censored].

As far as snipes go I would rather they just get rid of snipes and just make them another strong attack. I would like that instead of nukes too. Just another strong AoE attack that we could use in combat. Compare how many times a BS scrapper will use Head Splitter in combat compared to a Blaster useing his nuke. Against bosses I would rather have another strong attack I could cycle through.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just want a freaking point blank power burst/blaze attack for Assault Rifle. I could really use the single target damage....

IMHO, keep power Thrust and Bonesmasher, kill off the other three and give more support powers. If you must keep another melee then keep Stun. Energy Punch doesn't do enough, with stun you get a better chance to disorient and therefore survival is improved.

I know I'll catch alot of flack for saying to off Total Focus. This is a great power, but I feel that the final power in a support powerset should be th ultimate in support not the ultimate in melee.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whatever dude. Just because you dont think it should be there doesnt mean it shouldn't. Its the crown jewel of the Energy Secondary.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What MageStorm said. What the hell is wrong with you. ITS TOTAL FOCUS. Uberest of all uber, and my favorite attack except Full Auto. If you cant use it right, then learn how and love it. Absurd damage and a Mag 4 stun. Whats not to love? Its the ultimate Damage and CC power for bosses.

    Not to mention the animation.

And stun? What a worthless power. If you want to take something out of action just use bonesmasher on it and kill it.

    Blaster role

If we're going to change something, for the love of GOD do not change it for just snipes.

I absolutely hate snipes. HATE. HATE WITH ALL THE MIGHT I CAN MUSTER IN MY BODY.

They're worthless powers. Interruptable, mediocre damage for what you have to do.

    Blaster Damage

GET STUN THE HELL OUT OF MY SECONDARY.

Power thrust is fun, and energy punch is mediocre in animation, but it still packs quite a punch.

-Edit- WAIT, NO. COMBINE THE TWO!1!!!!!

And oh wait, whats this? Scrappers can get bonuses from their melee, indirectly or directly. Soul drain, Invincibility, Soul Consumption, Dark Regeneration, Cloak of Fear. Not to mention the fact that certain powers are better suited for melee types in the first place. Transfusion, Transferance, FULCRUM SHIFT!!!! The power that lets scrappers exploit their 500% cap :OOOO

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pseudotron, some of those powers aren't really as good as you think they are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've used all of the scrapper powers I've mentioned. Dark armor, DM, and Invuln. I know what I'm talking about.
  12. Pseudotron

    Blaster Damage

Scrappers getting a higher damage cap due to their being "at risk" for being in melee is absolutely absurd.

I'd like to know what scrapper feels at risk in melee. My invuln scrapper sure as hell doesnt.

Anyone arguing about AoE on blasters can shove it. Elec/Energy/Ice gets crap for AoE.

Not to gripe or anything, because I liked the comic a lot, but....

How can you use magic to turn off someone's powers? Mutants have then from birth, tech use machines that arent actually "powers", natural aren't even superpowered, science is some kind of chemical accident.... The only one I really think that would work for is magic! Also, where's the fun in a super hero comic when the characters don't have super powers?! It's also pretty dark for Paragon ain't it? I think the comics they've had going catch the atmosphere much better.

Now before you say anything, I don't exactly dislike the comic, I just wish they would have thought of a more... heroic story line for it! Apart from the plot holes I can't seem to understand I think the comic looks great, I like that Lord Recluse is tied in to it. Tis sweet that they made my favorite villain group (clockwork) look so badass!

    Just my two cents.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The same way technology can stop someone from teleporting.

All forms of Origin have different ways of causing powers, but they all reach the same effects. I can burn someone with a flamethrower, or I can burn someone with magical fire. Same thing, different methods. I'm sure if Lord Recluse felt like it he couldve gotten a bunch of Tech's together to create a device that would have the same effect.
  14. Statesman, I do have to ask something.

I for one, absolutely hate raids. 40 people fighting one monster is not entertaining to me. I'm not going to raid Hamidon, not now, not ever. When I pvp, I dont want my level 50 to be outclassed in any way by someone who's gotten loot in this game. Is there a possibility you could give us a switch to turn them off? I want to be on even footing, no matter what level it is.
  15. All they have to do is get rid of 80% of the boss population in the game, and It'll work. Or, y'know. Roll back the changes.
  16. Personally I think that 3 white con minions = 1 hero is completely idiotic. One of the amazing facts of why CoH is popular is because you dont take on 3 people at a time. Depending on your archetype you can go after packs of 10. And thats what makes it fun. You dont sit there beating on 1 minion for the next 5 minutes. Makes the game have a sense of "[censored] IM GOING AT 99210382019832 MPH", which is better then everquest's "Whack that rat for the next hour"

Bosses being unsoloable is quite stupid if you ask me. Theres no real reason for that. Archvillains and monsters? Yeah, those can be unsoloable, and I'm fine with that. 3 minions = 1 hero? No thank you.

Forced grouping? Maybe we're headed there, and if we reach it? I'm gone.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    Okay, Statesman. Question:

When are you guys going to re-examine Hasten, and the ease of engineering "duration" click powers to be always on? Surely you can see a problem when people run around with perma-RecoveryAura, since it more or less completely circumvents the Endurance game mechanic for entire groups.

Have you ever considered changing click powers with durations so that the recharge times are MUCH shorter, but don't "start the clock" until AFTER the duration ends?

    a Current Hasten thread

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats a surefire way to piss off 95% of the population of CoH.
  18. Sorry statesman, but wait just a minute. If you're going to put a stop to the Alpha Striking capability of Blasters, you will BREAK the archetype. Frontloaded damage is the point of blasters, after all. If you lower it, plenty of blasters arent going to exactly love the change. Blasters already suffer from their paper thin defenses enough.
