I posted something similar in the Brute section, but really should have come here first to be honest
Basically I am trying to make a single target damage dealer (Now my Elec/Shield is finally finished!) inspired by Shadowsylph, the DB/Elec who is quite high up in the Rikti Pylon soloing chart. I was planning on making a scrapper, but I don't have many villains (Other than MM's) so was thinking about making it a Brute instead.
My questions are:
Will I do more overall damage as a scrapper or a brute?
Is Gloom worth fitting into the attack chain (If not I think only due to redraw)? And if so what is the best attack chain? I was thinking it might be BF > AS > SS > Gloom?
My current plan is:

I actually have a DB/WP scrapper alredy using that attack chain, and while it is good I know the scrapper forums guys have worked out that not using the Attack Vitals combo is actually better than using it, because Ablating Strike is just that good.
Would you mind posting the data chunk for your build though? I might get some inspiration to remodel my DB/WP -
Don't really want to bump this but its probably worth mentioning I got my IO
And for only 2 bil -
I noticed it becomes considerably easier if I swap to DB/Elec:

I was planning this as a scrapper originally, but don't have many villains so thought I would make a brute instead, but I am not sure the concept will work and I need help.
The idea is to make it a pure single target DPS machine, using an attack chain of BF > AS > SS> AS and working in Gloom wherever is best (I am not sure the actual best chain tbh). However on a scrapper although I don't have access to Gloom I do have access to Conserve Power which I think I might need if I am to run this build properly (Taking on AV's/Pylon's etc).
Can anyone help with the endurance? And does anyone know the best attack chain when counting Gloom?
I would also like to fit in the Gladiators Armor 3% def, the Shield Wall 3% res and the Numina +Regen/+Recovery but can't find the slots (Cost is clearly no object as I can make enough infamy in a reasonable time).

I am pretty sure it is still top 3 for single target. It should be #1 due to lack of AoE, but its not as bad as people make out.
-
iirc you ignore TF cos it's DPA isn't very good.
EP, BS, ET and Gloom are what you want (Assuming you have the recharge). Can't remember any kind of chain though, and not sure how safe spamming ET is either. -
Something has changed in i17 relating to HO's.
When I planned my build with 5 HO's in Active Defence I went to the test server (Pre-i17) to make sure I had my numbers right before burning my respec. I can't quite remember what DDR it should be giving me but I am only getting 34.43% out of it (After finally getting my last HO's today), which is less than planned and not enough to give me 95% DDR after all my planning
*grumble*
So I am left at 91.44% and wondering what to do. -
I wasn't really referring to you, but rather everyone on the first page criticising the OP for killing people on a PvP zone.
I am just saying that if all those people were badgers criticising him for stopping their badge hunt rather than their IO farms he would be getting more support I think. And as for asking those he annoyed for help I don't think he came here specifially for their help, unless he has annoyed everyone in this section and as the newbie I just don't know that yet? -
Lol SpittingTrashcan does have a point, I see a few people worked up over this disruption of a farm yet if anyone dared to complain their badge hunt had been disrupted there would be no end of name calling.
Personally I think anything goes in PvP zones so if you want to afk farm there you take the risk, but how come everyone is getting on the OP's back? -
Thought as much, but I have seen a fair few posts about purples in PvP zones so wasn't sure, not that I would expect the drop rates to be any higher, but its worth asking
-
From what I know about PvP the sets you want are Fire Armor, or Regen, because the heals keep you alive. Elec has a heal but it isn't up enough really.
And the attack sets you want are anything with ranged attacks, plus the ranged attacks from your epic pool. The melee attacks are good, but you don't get to hit people with them all that often, so take the big hitters but leave the fillers.
I wouldn't think Fire or Elec are particularly good attack sets in pvp though.
The set bonus' you want to go for are +HP (Make sure you cap your HP), +damage and +recharge to get your heal back up. At least thats from what I have gathered in the last few days looking at the PvP forums for my blaster. -
I would go for a Cold/Dark defender personally.
I love the Cold Domination set, shields + debuffs, and Dark Blast with its -tohit stacks nicely with that. Dark Blast has a few skippable powers too so you have room for all the pool powers you want.
You get a partial stealth power so SS or a stealth IO cap your stealth and Defenders get the best use out of the Leadership pool. Take the Medicine Pool (For the rez not the healing), Recall Friend and you are good to go. Even if you don't want the medicine pool you get a free rez from day jobs these days! -
3 IO's in the power give 99%, Hasten gives 70%, getting another 80% from global recharge is not a lot, and requires no loss in survivability. Especially when considering Footstomp has Knockdown so survivability for a lot of sets goes up with Recharge.
Also I know Gloom is part of the attack chain, but it is the same for every set and just goes to show even more so how the good attacks in SS make the set overpowered when you can easily not use the poor attacks.
My point still stands. -
The figures above were for an SO build and show one story, but the figures using a good recharge build show another:
Quote:And the jump in performance is because sets designed with only a few good powers benefit much more from recharge than well balanced sets. The ST damage is on par with Fiery, Dark w/10 can be discounted as very difficult to do, so its the 3rd highest ST damage set available to a well build brute (The Rage crash is included in these figures, which are also from Bill Z). Then you add Footstomp on top of that and I actually think it is borderline overpowered, people don't farm with underpowered sets.Brute Dark w/ 10 222.7 4.53 EPS
Brute Stone 218 5.2 EPS
Brute Fiery 213.2 3.83 EPS

Got my build started and am only missing the LoTG's/Numina unique at the moment. I am actually enjoying it so far after spending 3 hours in RV today (Though 5 mins on SO's last night saw me die twice ...). Not many people were about and I fear I may have chased off more badge hunters than pvpers, but still.
Just wanted to say thank you again for your help, I like what this build does
Also I dropped a Ragnarok, is the purple drop rate from NPC's higher in pvp zones? Or am I just lucky? -
I can't see Rage being the only power in Superstrength that gets changed. I think eventually the whole set will get looked at, because as they proved with Psi domi's having a set based around 2 overpowered powers isn't what they want.
I can see a massive nerf to Rage and a small nerf to Footstomp and a corresponding buff to the rest of the set. Performance wise the set probably isn't too far from where it should be, but how it gets there is wrong.
Currently Build Up has a 1/3rd uptime on even high recharge builds, so for Rage to be perma it would need to be 1/3rd of the buff you get from Build Up, or have a crash. Personally I hate powers with crashes, so by the time it hits scrappers I would hope it is crashless, but I can see them keeping a crash of some kind, though I would be shocked to see over 50% damage and 10-20% tohit.
I do however find it strange that people are saying Rage isn't overpowered. Stick it in Fire Melee and see what you think of all the Fire/Shield toons then. The only context where it isn't overpowered is because the rest of SS needs a buff. -
I like that last build, thank you very much MrLiberty
I had to swap out the Armageddon set, cos I just can't justify spending that kind of cash just yet (Depends how much I actually like pvp) but the rest of the build is cheap enough.
I swapped a Karma KB for the Kismet 6% too, the last build has less KB protection so I assume 44 is still enough? -
Quote:I don't know about Demons (Or farming anything really) but in my experience you also want Fireball. That's a nice-looking build, especially the recharge. I'm trying to figure a way to buff the aoe def some, hopefully without losing much or any recharge but I'm realistic. One thing which might sound a little peculiar is that I could not really care less about any attacks other than LR and SC. If you have any experience with the set, do you know if LR/SC+Fireball is enough to kill even(50) minions and lts? Normally on my Brute I use BU and then both LR and SC for each group, but it'd be nice if I could make it go even faster on this guy. Thanks!
Build Up + LR + Fireball and 1 spawn is dead, SC + Fireball and the 2nd spawn is dead.
I use Build Up with LR because that does less damage to the mobs at the edge of its radius, so Build Up ensures they die too.
I like Fire Blast too, so you can mop up a runner or two whilst waiting the few seconds for the recharge till you can take down the next mob. -
Hi all,
I have a level 50 Fire/Energy blaster (By chance) and heard that they are ok (Good?) in PvP so thought I would come here for some advice before making my first real attempt at pvp.
The first thing I did is find the below build buried a few pages back:
Code:Which is cheap thankfully and apparently pretty standard (And ironically very similar to my old PvE build ...), so I will work off that.|-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1399;692;1384;HEX;| |78DAA5944B4F13611486BFE9C54299524AA1949B5010A140A7B0F3B2F08260D4161| |A30AC5432D2491953A7E3B424A289FA03DCBB4241E2E52F187F841A5DBAF067B831| |F59CF3CEA0894B27F03EF39D9EEF9CF3BD9D69F9E1155DA96717949658AA9BCDE6D| |665D296E545CB66CDDE5631A5D4A01FDA5A379D9A5535566CCF42DA64F0C9C6AEEB| |36BC96B1EC585E6D6FAB6C3AB6BB5B375B76C3495D73762CCF725A467013AF341A7| |563C3B5ACAA2EB72B76CBB19A4D2C4A96E9DA4E2D192CAA96D7DCB1DDD4B26B6F1B| |4B8D7A95AA73CFBD2C8D96A7FF8B2AB8DA51B518526A51458E14E3C45BE09DA0E30| |DB02FB8FF6757583D955DA1C7C023D47822B844199A5F5D7B2F5BE3A81747131D4D| |F44341F781A0411AF67785F7A9505A751F49BD9E97C02B41E640903D144C90DB51E| |C0A45E7A450012802514A88C9346D152B482843A14EEC519D3F09A36A99B40BA148| |171A0CA1F9109A8FA0F908BA4E528584EF44E2BB84A6234054903F2188515E12CDB| |5E4A6265BAF13A6D50AC552FE6953F0A8171EF5C2A33E78D4078F32F0A883EAA551| |2F947E8151C6D55F18A0847E2484FB31D8E93010C27C1ADCA3BC017FB081BC6CCDE| |60457F9E9F5071BFC26A1939F802FC057C1F867008F468AEA0DFBFE0DC3D27CBF9C| |37DF2398ED055282748C33903EFA5A261A87CF39F89CC3779083DD1E258EF9E9636| |B123AB50A948032CE7843D0A2C409A46B13780A668107A453FE373F85508D9EB919| |3F34030B6C0ACDC19CE81C0E339FD504BFB02ACAAA302B8729CC0B7ED06F82E11B6| |720BDB8269F142B82C51250065605F7A8D782DF7E01138D448E5F33FAA34B95FE89| |5422C7AF98D224928B046F5DFBBFAE0F7A50A7733D4E7A93A542A26DF2DD2D96DBB| |CBCC37726CB5D966D96F6473D98347986073ACB728EE53CCB734E8AF18BD6C5A2B3| |2458BA59922C3D2C69960CCB10CB3E4BFB371981FDCA| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
My questions are as follows:
- Why no phase shift? I thought that was pretty standard, have I heard wrong?
- Are Maneuvers and Frozen Armor slotted for the set bonus' or actually worth using? Similarly will I be able to hit stuff without Tactics or not?
- Is anything else taken purely as a set mule that I shouldn't really ever use? Stun for example?
- Is there anything else particularly missing from this build that I might benefit from?
Lastly: Sorry to ask such newbish questions, I don't really understand anything about pvp, though I will be reading up what I can in the nest few days. So if there is anything worth reading feel free to say "Look there newb!" and of course worse
Thank you! -
Ah yeah should have said its blueside too
-
Title says it all really, I am 316th in the queue for one at the moment so it's looking unlikely to happen anytime soon.
I figure most of them go stateside, but has anyone got one for sale on Union? If so then maybe we can talk price -
Sorry to bump this but I have now got my bid up for the PvP IO (316th in the queue
) and with i17 around the corner I am likely to have to do this respec soon, and I would prefer not to do it twice.
Can anyone see a way to sqeeze an extra bit of anything out of it? Cost is no object, I will probably even buy as many PvP IO's as needed if you use those. -
On a helpful note I would look at getting more recharge into Lingering Radiation. Against an AV that 500% -regen is I think going to be reduced to something like 75%, so stacking it will help you a great deal.
You could also look at getting some damage procs into your attacks, preferably the purple Apocalypse proc into Spectral Wounds and the purple Unbreakable Constraint proc into Blind in place of the pure hold in there at the moment. You could even slot Blind up for pure damage instead of hold.
That should up your damage, and reduce his regen to the point where you may start making progress.
Unfortunately since LR summons pets which draw the attention of your PA your damage output suffers considerably unlike against other AV's. I am not sure if there is anything you can do about that aside from trying to take the summons out as fast as possible.
Edit: On that last point I don't know if you are using both your toggle debuffs (Might be conserving endurance by only using one) but using them will mean you constantly interrupt one of his 2 summoning powers (Since they tick every 0.5 seconds), so that will help. -
