WOOT WOOT!!! New avatar AND post #1000!!! Today is looking up!
Thanks again Z!! -
I am almost speachless right now! Okay I know, when am I ever speachless. That is so much awesome in one image. I too thought of Colossus but SO MUCH BETTER!!! I've been in the "What would you like for alternate animations thread" and people suggested having energy blasts come from the head, chest, etc. and I wasn't sure about it but NOW I see the possibilities could be great! I love the color combinations too. I now must resurect PowerStream for GR and make him better! He was my first toon and my first 50 so he's still around but he's collecting dust for sure.
Znrgy, I know I've said it before but these mock ups are absolutely amazing! I really wish the devs would look at what you've done more! Thanks! -
Actual pictures of BABs at your house are not allowed Foo!
-
Well....
Michael Clark Duncan or Ving Rhames for BAB
Cylian Murphy for Neuron/Synapse -
The first pic looks like it could be from a M.A.S.H. remake. LOL The last pic has me concerned that they went with the bad idea of Cap. in the USO tour thing... ugh... I hope these are fakes...
-
Figured this was as good a place as any to ask....
I've been here a long time and the global name I want has been taken but the person hasn't been on the forums since 2006. I'd like to assume they also haven't played since then but what is the likelihood that global names had a purging? I haven't tried it in a while since I still have my original global rename available... -
Quote:I'd sign up for this!An option that may not have come up...
For powers that already have multiple animations, an option to have it randomly alternate between BOTH would be pretty sweet. Like the way a Shields character's brawl will either be a shield bash or a kick every other time. On some characters who wind up with very few real attacks (looking at my Super Strength tanker here), it'd help your options feel a lot more diverse if you were mixing up what it looks like you're doing. The only way to do this right now is save different animation setups on identical costumes and switch slots every 30 seconds or so. -
I didn't read every post but noticed a lot of the ones I did read wanted a non sword based melee option for fire/ice sword. I agree but what to change it to is the question.... How about an elemental blade coming from the end of the hand and slicing across the body. So basically picture a "karate" chop with an elemental blade on the end (think similar to Psylocke's psi-blades). Then you don't have to change the name. Or even use the same idea but with a jab to the throat(obviously the landing area will vary with toon heights) type move.

I agree and have to say I always felt my female toons were my weakest costume-wise, so I will definitely be borrowing some things I see here. I've been looking for a new brute to bring into GR and this helps!

Quote:Hmmm...maybe it's time to initiate my Legion X project, just need to contact my friends who agreed that if people ever become Real Life Heroes that we would become their Archenemies.
So to foil them what would you do? Take back the sandwiches they handed out? Fix the crack in the wall from the "Iron Fist"? Dress in really popular clothing and be generally cool?
Wow... just wow... People, let the trained professionals handle the crime clean up. Yes not all cops are good folks but our hopefully most are and at the very least they are trained to deal with this stuff... Reading 20 years of Batman does not change us into "superheroes". Common sense people!
If I had confronted that "drug dealer" in the neighborhood I grew up in I would have been in a fight for sure. All the guy had to do was call the cops first then the cops would have at least had a chance to catch the guy. As it were all our "superhero" managed to do was allow him to escape. DOH! -
You make excellent points BBM and I really believe this is a posturing by the studios for sure.
It's funny, my wife has gotten me watching the Entourage series and this whole thing is exactly like the storyline from there. The main character is an up and coming potential A-lister, he does a few things becomes popular then gets signed to a major Superhero movie (Aquaman) and then wants to do another movie between sequels and the studio squashes it with a timing problem. I mean it is exactly like this. So obviously this happens AAALLLLL the time.
For our sake and for RR's sake I hope they work it all out so we can all get our cake.... -
Other than Batman and the first Christopher Reeve Superman what DC movies have been as successful as the Marvel titles, movie wise? I realize that Deadpool is not the most widely known Marvel toon but he IS an already established toon thanks to W:O. And one that people enjoyed up until the screw job at the end. So to assume more people would watch GL over Deadpool doesn't make sense to me. I don't think GL will do bad by any means. I have high hopes for it to be honest. But I really don't think Deadpool would be as good with another actor. RR has already shown he's passionate about this character and that makes a better movie usually.
To me this sounds like some studio jockeying that in the end could hurt them more by trying to alienate the audience. I don't really care when either movie comes out as long as they are both good. -
Though you don't consider it true art I still think this is a cool piece. Only things that really stand out to me is Caem's head looks very 'shopped and his right hand looks oddly twisted. Alpha looks cool - maybe his shin(why does that seem spelled wrong? is it?) armor looks a little out of proportion to the rest of him but it's armor it's supposed to look a little bulky. All in all I wouldn't mind having a piece like this! Grats again Caem!

I love it! I think you did a great job on the final. One nitpick... page 2 bottom left panel, it should be "thought" not "thoght" but that's it!
-
Okay now that the NDA is lifted (thanks for the heads up Saphic Neko), here is my third entry:
Size comparison:

Cool I looked and looked and didn't see that anywhere! Thanks Sapphic Neko!
-
Where was the NDA lifted? Did GR go into Open Beta and I missed it?

Quote:Didn't know he killed people with fingernails. That's goofy...Hrm. Ultimate Hawkeye is a bad Bullseye ripoff, what with the killing people with fingernails and whatnot.
Hawkeye has been a part of the Avengers for a long time, no need to cut him short.
BUT Hawkeye's first appearance was in 1964 and Bullseye not until 1976 so not sure hwo ripped off who there.... (Unless of course you just mean the Ultimates Hawkeye and not Hawkeye in general) -
Or they go the Ultimates Hawkeye route and make him pretty cool, which they have sort of gone for a lot of these in some way. Well okay I thought he was cool, but he also was a marksman with any weapon and pretty bad$%^ in hand-to-hand combat. Plus I thought Renner was great in The Hurt Locker and if he brings that daredevil attitude to Hawkeye then I am definitely on board.
edit - Also I do beleive he wasn't limited to a bow and arrows which would make him more relevant in today's age of superhero movies... -
I think it's a situtation where obviously the movie execs want to utilize actors and sets and everyone else to make multiple movies in order to maximize their profits. Especially once they see the buzz a movie like GL is getting.
The problem is all the people that make a movie realize by doing so they also lose out on a tremendous amount of potential money. If you make deals before movies come out like LOTR then you really get paid less and the movie execs have the leverage. If you make movie #1 and it's a hit (like Spider-Man) then negotiate a two or three movie deal afterwards then you have leverage, because you have proof of the potential profits for both the movie company AND the staff/cast.
So while we as an audience see making three movies back to back as a good thing (like LOTR) they movie execs and cast/staff don't. Plus let's not forget that LOTR had a very set story, but Spider-Man/Wolverine/GL/etc do not. They have a ton of stories to pull from but which arc is THE money maker? So there are a lot more variables to creating a superhero/comic based movie than LOTR. Also, superhero/comic movies are aided greatly by increases in technology. LOTR needs some good special effects for some magic and monsters but they don't have to create beleivable webs/eye lazers/mental manipulation/claws from hands(*cough*Wolverine:Originsbathroomscene*cough* ) etc. So the effects in LOTR will stand the test of time better especially over a 3-5 year period it would take for the sequals to complete showing. X-Men from from 5-6 years ago would easily be expected to have better visuals in a sequal done today. Heck look at the outcry from the FX in Wolverine as a good example. We loved the claws and stunts in X-Men but were taken aback in Origins... Why no improvement. -
The head doesn't look that bad, but I don't like the skin costume.... I understand they are trying to show that the ring becomes part of the person but really it looks wierd that the green literally fades into the "red/pink/orange" of his neck. Also the area around the lantern emblem has his skin texture. It just looks a bit odd.

WOW LJ, I really love this piece! The character definitely has a galactic feel to him. When I saw the black and white I was really hoping he'd be monocromatic like the Silver Surfer. Then when you hit him with the blues I wasn't digging him too much, but the final is right on in my opinion!
-
Oh I also meant to say - I like that top because from the back it makes the shoulders appear wider which gives you the illusion of a stronger individual. It's actually the same top I used on the toon which I used for my body proportions and my toon seems "bigger" than my entries because of this I think.

I would love it if they worked it so "they" continued with the QL program even after Sam was unable to get home and at some point the new characters cross paths with Sam and Al. Just as they realize that they are each part of the QL then *flash* - onto the next Leap... Boom cameo done...
