It took me all of five minutes to figure out: What salvage I needed for an alpha slot boost. How to convert/get those salvages, and how to finally make and slot the boost.
Considering my only experiences in beta were how to do the arc to unlock the slot, I think I can safely say that you don't need to read the forums and visit the main page and read up and each and every little bit of information to figure things out. -
I'm pretty much below 100m influence.
My current plans are to get the LotG +Recharge IOs through either reward merits or alignment merits, since I don't have the money needed to buy the recipes/salvage. On the subject of the +Rech IO; why not slot it in the SR passives? It seems much easier and hassle free. My original plans were 3 +rech IOs in the passives, and one in combat jumping, which would give me about 30% global recharge. total cost would be 8 alignment merits, or 16 days of tip farming. Maybe less if I throw in some TFs and pick merit rewards instead of incarnate salvage.
In this build I don't have the medicine pool, nor do I have tough/weave. I do however have maneuvers 4 slotted with 1end 3def (Could probably change that to sets later) and tactics 6 slotted with the gaussian's set, which costed a pretty penny thanks to inflated salvage prices.
I'm sitting at 42% ranged defense, and 37.7% melee/AoE defense. If I get a set of Touch of Death for my melee attacks that should bring me up to 40% melee defense. Aside from that, however, it seems like that's my limit unless I respec into a more "optimal" build designed for soft capping defense.
@Kratics: Since endurance isn't a problem for you, you're soft capped and are basically invulnerable to everything, grab Musculature for extra damage since you don't need the endurance from cardiac or the defense buff from nerve. -
Quote:You probably aren't going to get any, sadly. You take a glancing blow from a AoE, not full damage but then sword comes by and finishes you off, you die. You take damage or use an attack, SS or SJ is suppressed for a bit, you take some damage. Granted yes, you should keep moving. But you honestly believe that someone isn't going to take damage?
Constructive, non-one line thoughts please?
The super hardcore minority of players think the apex TF is just fine the way it is and probably needs to be made even harder, and the mere mention of "oh it's kinda hard" makes them explode in a rage. -
I kinda wish Nerve was something other than accuracy. I mean, after 1-2 SOs in your attacks, you don't need any more accuracy. Especially people who take focused accuracy or have set bonuses with accuracy. You don't need more accuracy, yet the devs decided to give us more accuracy.
Wish it was something like defense buffs. But then again that's probably just because I'm a SR scrapper and would like to see a 33% defense buff boost <3 -
I went with Cardiac with my claw/SR. To be honest None of the enhancers seem to give that big of an impact, but cardiac seems like a perfect jack of all trades one. I mean, who doesn't love endurance reduction?

So now that everybody is respeccing like crazy, I thought now would be a good time as any to ask about Tough and Weave.
My main, Pinny, is a Claws/SR scrapper. Her defenses have always been low...<30% melee and AoE, so I decided it would probably be a good idea to pick up tough/weave. I've heard about how you can get a +3% defense IO that you can put in tough, so I think I can leave that with it's default slot, but with weave...it's only 3.6%ish defense, but 3 slotting it for defense would boost it to around 5.5-6%, wouldn't it?
Actually, on that note what would be the best way to slot super reflex as a whole? I've been 6 slotting all my toggles and threw a ton of Red Fortunes in there, but that didn't work out very well: I lost out on melee and AoE defense. The +recharge you get from it I can replace by saving up enough alignment merits and getting the LotG +recharge IOs for my passives, anyway.
Do I need my toggles 6 slotted, or can I get away with 4 slotting them with 1 end 3 defense?
Just want to figure this all out before I end up respeccing again. I don't have a build sheet out, but I'm a typical /SR build: Every power taken. Picking up tough/weave, and maybe hasten. On that note, do I even need hasten as claws?
Thanks for your time. -
I don't miss having my entire powers screen filled with "INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSEINCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE" times infinity, really.
If they must bring it back, I hope they put it in a seperate tab. Or like Jade said, turn my entire power tab of INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE spam to INCREASED RANGED DEFENSE x500 -
Quote:Looks like somebody got upset over something I said.Purple IOs have little to do with being able to solo an AV without insps/temps and can in fact be detrimental to certain builds (i.e. slotting purples instead of a normal set giving +def resulting in losing the softcap).
The OP has explicitely stated that he used temp powers and insps and never made any mention of having a couple set IOs or something. A quick glance through the topic doesn't show anyone making that claim either.
Sounds like an ignorant post with no base to me. And I'm not putting a facetious tongue smiley thingy in there, because I mean it. What is it, you're pissed off because your FOTM build that you thought was oh-so-cool got smashed by a NPC or two? Go cry in the general topic forum about the new arcs being too hard instead of polluting this topic, thank you very much.
Damn. I know I'm not helping but seeing yet another jackass trying to ruin a positive topic where people just chat without pretention just pisses me off.
Did my post really strike a nerve that you'd feel an unquenchable need to flame me all to hell? Just by going off my experiences with a pretty well off character, I said I couldn't see how you could solo an AV without temps/inspirations considering their damage rate and regen rate.
If anyone here is a jackass trying to ruin a positive topic, it's you.
But hey, from the looks of it, people can't seem to stand it when people don't look to them as godly beings who are the end all be all. I can see that now, since me saying "I can't see how you can" brought up such a violent backlash from everyone on these forums.
If anything, it could have been a chance to tell me how it works. What builds can do it, etc. But nah, flaming and screaming TROLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is soooo much easier, right? -
Honestly, I don't see how you could solo an AV Holtz/Honoree without temps or inspirations unless your character was stuffed to the brim with purple IOs.
Tried it a couple times with a SS/WP brute who is by far my most powerful character with a bunch of sets and she had trouble surviving more than a few attacks from Holtz. Not to mention the insane regeneration they have.
So yeah, let's just say I'm skeptical that a scrapper will be able to solo an AV without temps, inspirations, or -regeneration debuffs. Even MORE skeptical if you try and say you weren't stuffed to the brim with purples and instead "Only had a couple set IOs"
Sounds like ego stroking with no base to me :P
Otherwise....EB setting. No difficulties with trapdoor on a Claws/SR scrapper. On the RWZ mission I got the vanguard heavy mech guy, even though he was complete overkill, and got through that mission just fine, too. I did use some purple inspirations, but I'd much rather complete the mission rather than try and prove how awesome I am. -
It's because people think that the alpha slot is going to completely change the way their character plays so much that they can refuse to slot for a specific bonus and just rely on the alpha slot.
And then they'll realize that by not slotting for a certain bonus and instead relying on the alpha slot, they're only getting +33% to something instead of 95%ish they would have gotten by slotting for it.
That's just the way I see it. Inherent fitness really shouldn't have an effect on slotting aside from "zomg I have a few extra powers I won't be able to slot!" -
Uniques go into auto powers. They're too good to not have up 100% of the time. That includes Fast Healing, Health, Stamina, Quick Recovery.
I'd stick them in health, and leave Fast Healing for regular +healing enhancements unless you plan to 6 slot it and put all of a set in there.
Even if you have most of the set in RttC, I'm still hesitent to recommend putting the uniques in there. Sure, you'll use it all the time and theres no reason you'd ever go 120 seconds without it on, but like I said: Something about the uniques not going into auto powers bugs me. -
Unlocked the slot on Pinny, my Claws/SR scrapper. Not sure what boost I want to get, though...
The Accuracy one gives a boost to defense buffs, but 20% with most of it being reduced by ED isn't a lot...
The obvious choices are endurance reduction and recharge... -
And what about all the players who don't read the forums?
They'll see you as a griefer/bad player. Which is essentially what you are with this character, except the only thing you're doing differently is posting on the forums saying "I'm not griefing, I'm letting other players have fun!" -
Quote:I assume he means running with it. If you see someone running at you with a sword in each hand they way they do in ninja run you'd be thinking "oh shi---"If you hold a sword behind you like that while you're idle, you'll slice your own legs off or twist your wrist bringing it back infront of you fast enough. The stance is illogical and (IMO) retarded-looking.
I do agree that the idle stance for ninja run is retarded, though.
I appreciate the responses! The problem I have is with these sets I'll make one, then start thinking about being the other, then I'll either delete/remake to the other set, and the process will start over again. -
I have a level 30 Nin/Nin stalker, but I've been having thought about dual blades lately...My only real experience with the set was when they first came out and the training room was boosting people to level 35, so I made a DB/WP scrapper and the first thing I do? Try and go up against Rikti in the RWZ. Derp!
Personally, I think the idea of someone dual wielding blades fits the "ninja" theme more than single wielding a katana, but I'm not sure if I'd be stabbing myself in the foot if I remade to dual blades are not...
Any experts on Ninja Blade/Dual Blades willing to give me some advice? Thanks! -
Quote:This.Hi,
Would it be possible to make the Praetorian Resistance pistols available for dual pistols and the rifles available for assault rifle?
Having them unlocked by obtaining the "Resistance is Futile" (kill 100 resistance badge) makes perfect sense. Who cares about us shooting bullets and not lasers? -
You should all be aware that the incarnate slot only takes effect if you are level 50. If you exemplar to 49.99 you still lose it and all the benefits you get. So it's not something you should build around unless you will NEVER EVER exemplar down on that character.
-
Quote:And then after you get everything you want, with extras, then what? I suppose you could have alts specifically for lower level stuff, but some times you just don't have the right side/AT.Well, the content you run that gives you the Incarnate components does not require any exemplaring. Lady Gray TF, Reichsman TF, Statesman TF, Hamidon Raid, Rikti Mothership Raid, Imperious TF, Cathedral of Pain Trial, Apex TF, Tin Mage TF - all of these can be run at level 50. So if you're specifically gunning for Incarnate components, you'll never have to exemplar yourself at all.
-
Quote:I believe so.Question... I know most people will be playing level 50+ content, so it may be moot anyway, but if you exemp, even to 47-49, you'll lose the Alpha Bonus, right?
And how often do you exemplar below 50? All this gossiping is about the perfect scenario where you never exemplar down. -
By the time someone has activated Hack with broadsword, doing lets say 100 damage, my kinetic melee character has activated and pulled off 2 attacks, doing upwards of 150-200 damage, and has a 3rd halfway through animating.
-
Just you.
The animations are very quick, comparable to claws and dual blades.
If you think claws animates slow, then I don't know what sets you think are fast, because claws are the fastest. -
Honestly, why would you want them to stack unless you're respeccing your characters so often that you want 2 freebies back to back? Even then if you're a chronic respeccer you'd probably like this one freespec now, another a week later deal.
Really no reason for the freespecs to stack. -
Quote:Think of opening the alpha slot as opening the option of crafting a zero-endurance-using temp power that, once slotted, will act - globally - as described. Note that it wont add functions to powers that dont already have those options (wont add -def to dark melee, for example). IDK if they will allow more than one or if swapping out and how freely/often will be allowed. I'm hoping we can have multiple and these will be ajustable on-the-fly (or with in a few minutes, but if not I dont care. I just like the whole thing
).
Could just say that it's a universal enhancement slot that effects all powers. -
They're all in AE farming away to 50, and then they leave the game 2-3 days later because of "Lack of content"
