  1. Hi all,

Long time Lurker from the old EU forums here, thought I'd step out of the shadows what with the 'end of days' approaching.

Regarding Jim Butcher playing CoH. I have just set up a thread linking to the Petition and Titan Network's 'Save Paragon City' forums over on Jimbutcher.com's community forums. Don't know how often/if Jim pays attention to the posts there, but hopefully someone will be able to bring this to his attention.
  2. I've recently been playing a Widow, having reached 24 and respecced I have to say that for sheer dps on single targets the Night Widow is the way to go, the -regen from Widow ranged attacks and stacked -recharge and -speed from Melee and Psi attacks can slow enemies to a crawl.
  3. 1> At low levels sell everything, there's little reason to keep salvage or recipe's at low levels as dual/single origin enhancements often beat the IO equivilent until the 30-35 range. The only reasons you really want to start crafting at low levels is either a) for the crafting badges; or b) for those powers where you simply can't afford to level during a mission and suddenly find that your enhancements have redded out and your power is now useless (I tend to slot my attack powers with at least 1 Acc IO, and in End heavy toggles like Damage Aura's or TK I tend to slot for the End Red when I can)

2> Before crafting recipe's for sale, make d**n sure that there's a market for em, then check whether you'd get more by selling the salvage+recipe, and finally make sure that you're able to get more than the crafting price for it.
It's really annoying to spend 40-50k inf crafting a recipe, let alone the cost of the salvage if you have to buy it, only to find out that it's selling for peanuts.

3> Rare salvage is the only real exception to the 'sell everything' tip. Some of this is selling for huge amounts of inf on the auction house and whilst it might seem tempting at a low level to sell that Mu Vestment or Psionically Charged Brass for a few million, remember that at a later date you might need one of those same pieces and spending several million inf on a single salvage piece, that you yourself sold at an earlier date can be rather silly. Granted, you might be able to get it at a cheaper price, but with the way the markets seem to be going you may find yourself paying an extortionate amount for it. Mid's has a fantastic Recipe viewer that can give you a break-down of all the salvage and crafting costs for the recipe's you have in a build. I'd advise checking whether you need any of the rarer or more expensive salvage before selling it and storing what you need for later use.
  4. Just a quick question for anyone with a Nightwidow alt. Do the two Psi powers in the set (Mental Blast and Psychic Scream) cause redraw on the Widow Claws? I was thinking of speccing out of Dart Burst and Poison Dart and into those two in order to maximise the amount of -recharge i can stick on mobs.

    Vilianside Maps

Well it is City of [u]Villains[u], by large the maps (and here I'm assuming you mean the zones and not the mission maps, which are mostly shared with the blue-side) are fairly dark, both thematically and in a lighting sense.

If you want something a little brighter can I suggest St Martial, which is pretty much like Vegas on crack, complete with 40 storey tall Golden Pyramid and Carnival Big Top. Other than that all I can suggest is turning up the brghtness and contrast on your monitor and grinning and bearing it . Believe me the later missions are worth the wait.
  6. Thanks for the replies all. Looks like Mako's and the build up proc is the way to go then. Now I just need to save up the kajillion or so inf for the proc =P.
  7. I recently got my first redside toon to lvl 50 and have begun playing a Widow, which I'm going to dual build into Night Widow/Fortuna.
For one reason or another I've decided to take Follow-up over Build Up on the Night Widow side, however I have a quick question that I hope those with more experience in the Claw's set can answer.

Is it more advisable to slot Follow-up as an attack power (i.e. to slot a full melee IO set into it) or to franken-slot it with a mix of melee, standard IO's and to-hit sets?

Currently I was thinking something along the lines of either 1-2 Acc IO's then 4-5 from Adj Targeting, or 4-5 Crushing Impact followed by either a standard to-hit IO or the build-up proc from Gaussian's.

    Thought's or advice?

    edited for spelling corrections
  8. The Turrets etc do respawn very quickly (think they're on a zone-wide 5 minute respawn and if you catch them at the tailend of that time it can get annoying). But it isn't impossible to do solo. If you haven't read it this page has a pretty good description of a couple of quick ways to solo the firebases.
  9. IIRC the Aeon bomb is the term for what happened when the hero Sunburst lost control of his powers and basically nuked Siren's Call, destroying the War Walls and allowing Rogue Isle villains easy access.
  10. Looking on Red Tomax's site on the subject, it looks like by "power of the soul" it means the strength of the powers. Look at the damage/heal values given for the powers in each of the links below:
    Spirit [Minion Level]
    Tortured Soul [Lt Level]
    Wraith [Boss Level]

    Gratz to Me

Congratulations to me, finally got my first toon to 50 .
And to think, it's only taken me 2 years...

Now I just need to work out which of my dozen or so other alts to start advancing.
