1. My build is in its own thread on this forum. It's not plant/earth, it's ice/earth, but the comparisons will still be easy to make. Go have a look, maybe you can get something from it.
2. I'm having trouble with my own build for a dom, so while I can't go too in depth with advice, I do have just a small smidge of advice.

It's much easier to build for typed defense on dominators due to the mace shield. Give it a shot, you'll probably be pleased with what you're able to put together. It'll obviously mean a change of patron for you, but it's worth consideration. My build for instance has 44.9 to smash/leth and around 35% to energy, with neg in the 20s. My only weak spot there is fire/cold which I believe is about 12. I could have accomplished even more if I had gone for pure defense instead of trying to reach permadom aswell.
3. Hi all. I'm currently leveling an ice/earth dom with the hopes of being tough as nails in the late game while still maintaining permadom. The hope is not only to be able to survive, but to maybe be able to defeat some or most AV's.

I've built a Fire/Psi before so I fancy myself as not quite a newb in the art of Dominators. However, considering that this build is pricey, I'm wondering if maybe I could throw it to those who watch this forum often to maybe give me a few pointers on things I might improve.

I'm looking for some in depth analysis, if at all possible. My concentrations on the build were typed defense, recharge, and recovery. I do currently feel I may not have the best recovery, and I also know I can fix that by taking a different patron. I'm aware this is not cheap in the slightest, but I can afford it. That being said, if I don't need to spend this much money to get a similar or better amount of performance I'm not above taking some things out. I'm also not above putting more expensive things in, such as pvp io's. Basically I'm looking to be the best I can possibly be. If I'm going about my goals completely the wrong way, feel free to tell me that aswell!

4. I didn't look at the link, so I may be echoing things said there already.

I've played both sets, though not together, and I'd say it most definitely would be worth playing. Ice slick/Arctic Air would provide a very safe platform to get in and drop a psychic shockwave, and the sets would gel well when you Flash Freeze a group and then go in to pick off the sleepers one by one with Psi's increased single target capabilities. Not to mention the stacking -recharge and -slow as you mentioned. Shiver+Psychic Scream would be a good way to slow down whole groups on teams, making it easier for you and the rest of your group to annihilate.
5. That -is- a sonic corruptor. This must be from the (unannounced) Going Rogue beta.

I smell shenanigans. Ban Dispari! He broke the NDA!
6. Perfidus

Claws/Dark

Strike doesn't have enough acc even with bonuses, though maybe follow up will take care of that.

You have one great big glaring hole though. Where's Focus?
7. If you have a light enough build that you can take Tremor and six slot it and not have the rest of your slotting suffer, then by all means, take it. But I'm not convinced. I think there's far better things you could do with slots/powers, even considering that little bit of S/L defense that comes with Oblit.

And that makes sense, about Stone Fist. You were always more concerned about numbers than I was, but me, there's just no way I could give up the mallet. Same reason I can't give up firesword despite Scorch being better dpa, it's just too cool looking! But for min/maxing I suppose that's no excuse.

Good, I'm glad you do have fault. Considering fault though, and the religious use of it, softcapping is fluff. I don't know if you knew it, but I had a stone/wp at 50 too. Hardly any ios aside from frankenslotted attacks and stupefy+FF proc in Fault, and of course the steadfast +def. I rarely died, and even solo'd an easy AV or two. Fault kept everyone on their butts while RttC did its magic. Which leads me to my next point...

If I were you, I'd build for reasonable def (As in all types above 25%), a little recharge for flavor, and regeneration. There's some very easy bonuses to be had for regen, with two slotted numi and lotg. I'd bet you a billion inf (and you know I have it) that you'd rarely, if ever, die.

Something to consider!
8. I just measured, I've got 18 inches in Silver Spring, MD. Good thing I've got all my christmas shopping done!

And tonight, I explore. Just like old times. This is the best snow we've had here since 2002/3. I'm so excited, even though I had to shovel snow literally five times today!
9. Well. I think that with enough money and the right primary, Willpower can softcap to everything except maybe psionic. I'm not convinced Stone can do it under any reasonable budget, however. S/L is probably about as good as it gets, though with the right choices you can likely bring En/Neg up to softcap too if not just near it. Keep in mind things like Reactive Armor and Eradication. Zephyr is good too.

As for the attack chain, you've got it right, except I wouldn't open with seismic. Seismic is something you save for when you have more fury in most cases.

Also, I've seen you in action, don't take Tremor, take Fault. Stone is a fast activating, intensely satisfying smashy build, all Tremor will do for you is slow you down and probably make you lose fury. I know the complaint is you take it for AoE, but if you want AoE that bad, roll another set. Play to Stone's strengths, and that is ST carnage.

Just two cents from a friend.

Edit: It's also possible to skip stone fist altogether with the right amount of recharge. You can still have an excellent attack chain. Though, with softcapping being your focus, recharge is likely out of the equation.
10. Well, sometimes I occasionally bump into Eveningstar2. So yes.

But to answer you seriously, I don't know what Pocket D you go to but that kind of rp you're describing happens there all the time. And then there's certain sgs out there that exist only to be random and silly, though I can't think of any off hand..
11. I can personally see it from both sides, but don't care enough to agree with either one.

On one hand, you're right, it's not their name anymore, it's yours to do as you please with. They released it, you took it, end of story. But from their perspective, you're using a name that came from them to barter for new names. They could take it as a slight or that they wasted the name giving it to you, only to have you get rid of it this way.

But if that's so much of a problem, they should've realized who they were giving the name to in the first place. I don't even know you first hand Nadya, but I know you spend more money on renames than I do on groceries. Any name you get (besides Nadya and Naughty Nadya, most likely) are bound to be gotten rid of later on. I've seen you lust after names only to ditch them a few weeks later. I indirectly gave you a name once, Amazoness, and later saw you ditch it. I didn't care because I knew it'd happen when you got it, and I figured it at least got a little use. So what's the problem?

Know your audience, they say! It's just a mix up with etiquette and expectations.

E: There's also the possibility that the only reason they gave it up was they thought you'd use it more, and they wanted to see it have a good home. Failing you giving it one, they might want it back. This is understandable, but they should've made it clear when they gave it to you that they'd want it back if you changed your mind.
12. Thanks for reply Silver, I know you're pretty serious about soloing stuff. You mentioned GMs but what about AV's? I know that the plan is to stay out of range of the GM, hovering while in bodyguard mode and taunting. Are you saying it wouldn't work, or?

Here's another slightly modified build.

13. My girlfriend is wanting an AV or GM killer (the latter of which isn't as important!) and she's been working on a build. I was hoping others could share some insight as Masterminds are a bit outside my range of knowledge. Am I incorrect in telling her this is possible? Can it be done, and if so, is this the right sort of build? What sort of bonuses should be headed toward? My assumption was defenses and that's what this build is mostly built around.

Any light that could be shed would be greatly appreciated!

(EDIT: build updated and format fixed.)

14. Yeah. I do all my stuff redside, which is why I have 3.2 bil. If I ever want to get some blueside money, I know who I'll go for, for a trade. :P
15. Grats!

I've got more than you redside virtue... buuut all that cash you've got blueside that I lack -more- than makes up for it. :P
16. Perfidus

Am I EBIL now?

Hey, whoa. I know you. Virtue, right? I competed with you on the wall several times.

Grats on the bil!
17. A million times, yes please. I'm OCD about this too. I have.. lets see, three versions each of three different characters, and I had to make sure height was -exact- for each one. It didn't matter that no one else would be able to tell, they couldn't be off by even a hair, because I would notice. I managed it, sure, but have you any idea how long it took me for each one? And have you any idea the ridicule I endured from my friends list who saw me reroll over and over for about an hour?

Please, add this! Spare my tears!
18. Haha. Insulting you, that's great. >.< No.

By working I meant doing it the old fashioned, tiresome, outdated way. I think it's awesome what people can do with marketeering. I'd do it too but I'm not smart enough or dedicated enough. I also didn't mean to say anything about my way being more valid. And I also said I didn't want to threadjack but was also didn't want to make another thread about the same damn thing. Thanks for the quick trigger finger!

But hey, at least Nethergoat got the spirit of my post correctly.
19. And here's mine! Not to steal thunder of course. Just so I don't go and make a dupe thread. >.>

Aeka the billionaire!

Of course.. this wasn't made with marketeering. I did it the hard way, I actually worked for all of this money, though of course I still sold everything I got on the market, so it's still relevant. Somehow, my earning it this way makes me feel more accomplished, but I know you guys must be shaking your head at me right now!
20. What's the trick to make it so phalanx has zero people in range, in Mids?

I remember reading it somewhere but I can't even find it now.

EDIT: Nevermind, found the thread. Here it is for those interested.

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....part=3&vc=1

Thanks go to Chaos_Creator for the trick.
21. How about this? I took some advice. I know I'm still not quite softcapped but I'm also very close to being so with melee/ranged and I understand AoE isnt too big a deal compared to the other two. Tough has no slots because I don't plan on using it.

Also, If I free up a slot somewhere and get that Gladiator +3 def piece in there, how will I look then?

EDIT 2: And is CJ even worth slotting for defense? Doesn't seem to add much on for me. I'm thinking use that slot to put into Tough for the Gladiator piece. Sound decent enough? Would I be softcapped to def/ranged?
22. I suppose I'm back to the drawing board. It's just so hard to do all the the things I'd like to do with it. I need the recovery and I'm hearing I need the defense. But dammit, I -want- the recharge! >.>
23. So maybe I should work toward a little more defense... hm. I just don't know what to give up and where. So indecisive.

That's a nice build and for the cheapness of it I bet it works wonders for you, from what I know about SS/SD. Probably works a lot like my tanker who is a real bruiser.
