What's with all the quietness? Are SM and ElA boring sets? Do people not like such small budgets?

Quote:It's a good thing no one was disputing that, then.If people didn't pay for RMT there would be no market for their virtual goods. I don't see how that can be disputed.
Are you familiar with the phrase, "if wishes were horses then beggars would ride?" I think it's pretty relevant here. Wishing that people would stop buying game money does nothing to solve this, no matter how hard you wish.
edit: re-reading this, it sounds snottier than I meant. No offense was intended. -
Quote:Don't want to get all political, but I think the history of prohibition and legalization of alcohol and other drugs show how faulty this reasoning is. Driving an activity underground means that the underground can use that activity to subsidize itself. Organized crime was the real winner from alcohol prohibition and the Mexican drug mafias are the real winners from the war on drugs. If you want Chinese gold farms to be driven out of existence, then you need to offer a legit alternative, not just moralize in louder tones.Paying a 3rd party for in-game virtual goods like gold or influence or levels is just lamely stupid and the lengths the gold-farmers go through to hijack accounts and advertise their business is the price we players pay for other player's stupidity. Apparently now we see that stupidity has an even darker side. It's all starting to sound like illegal drugs.
And just like with illegal drugs - if there was no market, there would be no problem. -
Quote:China wasn't in recessionSo that's how you climb out of an economic recession. Someone call Obama.
So I guess buying gold (or inf or PLing or an epic mount or w/e) means subsidizing a brutal penal system. I guess that should bother one in proportion to their opposition to corporal punishment in general. -
Quote:Forgive me if I'm wrong, but don't mobs have to be at least level 50 to drop purples? You want to find a mission full of things you can handle easily: with that build, that's about anything. For dedicated purple farming, -1x8 is the way to go and blaze through everything as fast as possible. Supposedly bosses have higher purp drop rates, but I've never noticed it.
-
YES. I'd also like bought/sold info to be shown on the selection screen, though I guess that might encourage making alts that are just AH mules, which is probably frowned on :/

I bet to unlock it you have to be in a league that fails a trial

I came up with a much better build which is also more expensive, though I think (can't check atm) within budget. S/L is up to 32.6% without sacrificing recharge speed. I realized I shouldn't really care so much about E/N defense on an /ElA. Two purple sets were used, but IIRC they're two of the cheapest. This build has near-perma Night Widow which counts for a lot.

Yup, pretty much what the title says. I wanted a build that could be very survivable solo and in teams and put out impressive single target DPS. I went for 20% S/L/E/N defenses (and overshot the target a little) and enough recharge for perma hasten and to run the best attack chain (Seismic Smash>Stone Fist>Gloom>Stone Fist>Heavy Mallet) and ALMOST made it. I wanted to include air superiority too but it would have taken too many slots and meant room for one less LotG. Fault is optional; I like having it, but I don't consider it a game changer or anything. Net end recovery is low but power sink is up every 15 seconds so it should be OK.

Quote:Fury is different now though. Not happening. They already tried this and decided to get rid of the option. Ice Armor/Ice Melee is the anti-fury combo and it makes the brute too weak.
Why did you list a new powerset (Rad manipulation) in a post about proliferation? I don't understand. -
Are you assuming that this will be limited to one's own team? That seems unlikely to me because this was introduced after people complained about having to individually buff in leagues.
-
Quote:I don't like the complainers either but that parody is pretty over-the-top.But for my Kins and Therms, this means respecs to put an extra slot and End Redux enhancement in each of those powers. And that's just the 50s (Kins) who have access to decent enhancements--I think I've only got one Therm high enough to use SOs. Lowbie shielders will be casting shields less often as the result of the endurance increase, making them less valuable in teams, which means fewer people will play them, and that leads to further disparity between the number of buffers vs. damage dealers in the end game.
-
Quote:That's actually backwards; your resists start as good as a brute's but a brute's resists can hit the 90% cap tankers' can whereas a scrapper maxes at 75%.I know I can't max resists for scrappers, but I can make them as good as a brute
If you want something that's more tanky I'd roll a brute or a tanker. If you liked being the team's DPS more, go with a scrapper (IMO). -
I've read that it was BB > SB > QS > BB > CS, but the best I've been able to come up with was BB > SB > QS > BB > QS > CS, with 155% global recharge and a Spiritual Paragon Core alpha.. that may have been before I learned about Arcanatime though. With gloom I think it's gloom > qs > sb > qs > gloom > cs
-
How about a mastermind? Very different from scrappers and controllers, and you couldn't choose the same secondary (kinetics) even if you wanted to.
-
I missed a few years of CoH so I don't have any idea what you're talking about. What did Statesman retcon and how did it lead to the incarnate content?
-
The range on FB is annoyingly short. Since the others covered the important stuff I figured I might as well toss that out there too
-
There might be levels that's true for but every time I've checked the price of a common IO was about equal to the price of its salvage. Given there's a recipe and crafting price on top of that, as well as the time it takes, I buy them when they're available.
-
I went with a different design goal than SlyGuyMcFly, hope it's kosher to post my own take on DB/SR.
Build: DB/SR
Price: Cheapish - 1b (or three weeks of tips) for the LotGs, but the rest is just a few hundred mill.
Build goals:
-Tons of recharge. Get as close as possible to being able to run the best attack chain without having to get purple sets.
-Softcap.
Build weaknesses:
-It doesn't do much to compensate for SR's weaknesses, so when you get hit you tend to splatter
-Can only run one combo
Incarnate: None included, though the Spiritual alpha is strongly recommended as it lets you perma hasten and nearly gaplessly run the best chain. Musculature only increases DPS by 0.15% over Spiritual, Cardiac isn't needed IME, and your great DDR makes Nerve pointless as well.

Trial players basically have to use help to LFTs because they can't join other global channels or even, I've heard, broadcast. Not that it's a great thing for the channel but even on one of the most populous servers (Virtue) it's never really been a problem relative to powerset trolling or general chat or the other million things flooding help.
-
The opposite is true in some cases as well, though, such as when you're still above 90% endurance. Depending on how + and - recovery effects work, in one case the perf shifter is better and in the other case the base recovery is better.
-
It looks like a good build for running combos. Defense is a little high but nothing wrong with that I assume. I went a different direction with my DB/SR and tried to make a build which can nearly gaplessly run the best attack chain (BF->AS->SS->AS) on the cheap, here it is if you want to try it out in an alternate build or whatever:
Code:There's a .07-.17s gap before each AS, depending on what tier your spiritual alpha is, but that's the best I could do without purples or pvp IOs. I think this build is close to the highest DPS you can get on the cheap (relatively speaking) with DB/SR.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1393;684;1368;HEX;| |78DA65936D53125114C7EFC212A2A022A2F8889A8A8A6E52BD6F526BAA9152717AC| |BAC7095B50D18564A7BF2A1B73DD7D41728AB8FD107CAFA00199D3DFF2BDAB003F3| |DB7BCEFF9E877BF6A6B7178242EC5D115AEBBC6D3A4E3693AB98E5B2ACF833394B1| |673B2257D75FEC6C5A1D56A65ADE41742F49E08B269694B692C544D3B3B679B79E9| |C4EBAE05B92E8B8E34325577B522D76DB92D9DF0CD6241566471CB3879695E2A956| |C235396321FE2D7EBD64661CB2A6E0479B528CD322DDA4E167959710A56397CAD6C| |E58CB9527E279B369D2D59D989516109FA3F762BE4A7A60B9390129E3520C7D0F38| |064A45DB9C6728F886AAEE95C27D0CE78E2577E51F369EBBCA7A900588CE64D0049| |823F3C4244C46DDAE55561BD08DB81B01D08FB94043E55A6EF8FC735751E037F195| |D3540785D3C23B95FD3B80A3FBA8A21610C5DF5A2AB5E74D59FE5D358A25D012411| |81247B46C8D482C2B41698FA813BE409294F68904D83C03279DA94A7ED3F8F469EB| |0EA22BCCB8D0DEE3186F68103E0396385E411041291198EE02553549518ED26DF80| |D0C9D4ADCEAE1B6737DCA4B9FD0CEB8498D827418F1A49CF030E33FC90717E1B780| |45419A3471E376C8676F5A92EFA50FE28D0459E01E5190870A6D163E1EE39204F5C| |F517C794C631A5714C691C534A604AAB241F51958FA0F2042A4FE88C3009C694600| |C824908262158A53813AAB589CF1C7BF20B63EA10F80A7C634C7F671C86844822AC| |2F798B034DBF83E03D63E603F011F8C4D8A5620C95CB28B0E982056C02F718291BB| |8CFC85085B3D8A5CDE2CB49A9EF48AFDF3CFAD123E27AFD72D5A61ABCB30D965483| |E55283E5728365F1340B5D3A2E7249AF5F5AA1B128D02EDC1971293F9BC9AB3668F| |80C7F9D35DDE5133C3A6B9A60D5EF53934F7BC199822F19ADAF80D78CF637C05B86| |9BBFB61CA1577514FF00F401E224| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|

Quote:What. If you look at the actual return, in terms of how much your account sells for, then you're making far below minimum wage. It's not a very smart way of looking at the game. If you look at the return in terms of entertainment value (as your friend is clearly doing), then there's no particular reason to rush to 50 if you like the lower level content more. Hell, that's a reason to slow down your advancement.I can respect the not leveling attitude. But I ask you this question. If this game isn't about leveling and moving up then why did we get levels to 50, Alpha, D, I, J, L and soon we'll get more and Omega. You don't have to level but your missing the point of the game. I have a friend that feels similar to you and his characters are stuck at 20/30s because he won't focus on maturating them. He missed out on alpha and all the rest of the content. He really should be in this community but he likes throwing/flushing away money monthly without ever seeing a return on his investment(ROI). It's his money but he's underachieving in his current state.
