Gloom is amazing. It's just one of those powers that makes everything better.
Gloom: Damage 74.48
Arcanatime cast value: 1.32
Base real DPS: 56.42
Focus Burst: Damage 68.4
Arcanatime cast value: 2.244
base real DPS: 30.48
Gloom is much better.

A bit sad really that a Tier 8 ranged attack is dwarfed by a power that every Brute can get.

Gloom isn't always the best DPS. If a mob dies before Gloom has time to tick all the way, other powers would be better. Gloom is the clear winner for long fights, though.
The range on FB is annoyingly short. Since the others covered the important stuff I figured I might as well toss that out there too
Also, Focused burst helps build up Power Siphon, where gloom wouldn't. Its not much of a plus for FB, but its there.
Thanks for your input guys, it's really helped. I think I'll respec in the Gloom tbh instead, the animation times are already slow enough on KM already.
Does anyone know what the top DPS chain for KM is by the way? (I have 65% Global Rech atm)

I've read that it was BB > SB > QS > BB > CS, but the best I've been able to come up with was BB > SB > QS > BB > QS > CS, with 155% global recharge and a Spiritual Paragon Core alpha.. that may have been before I learned about Arcanatime though. With gloom I think it's gloom > qs > sb > qs > gloom > cs
FB also has a fairly decent chance to knockdown a baddie where gloom goes nom nom nom on their tohit. FB...potentially stops a runner from running. Gloom...just chews a hole in their butt while they run away.
Both are nearly equally as funny, really...then again...i just get a chuckle outta putting some poor dumb bas*ard on his behind cuz he thought he was gonna get away from me. (I miss my big rock on my Stone/WP Brute...)

So which is better numbers wise? I'm thinking Gloom atm, since it is just over half the activation time (1.1s vs 2s) and its damage seems pretty comparable.
In high recharge builds, it seems superior? I'm happy to be proved wrong here..
