I used to work on the 13th floor of an office block in Manchester. I don't think I can remember ever seeing a haze free view from the window.
[/ QUOTE ]
PRAF, mate, they never cleaned your windows. I used to do a load of work on the roof tops around Manchester, and the view out over Stockport toward the Penine foothills was one of the few pleasant things involved in the job.
This was a public service announcement by the Manchester Board of Tourism.
[/ QUOTE ]
It wasn't that. One day the window blew out in a high wind, and it still didn't make the view much clearer. -
It's difficult to draw any conculsions without knowing what the build was though. Any tanker with a bad build would get creamed.
They might, for example, skipped PF for Tough and Weave, which would make them more vunerable to Psi, and a little more vunerable to energy. Or the may not have slotted TG, etc.
It's new, it's not suprising if people haven't learned how to get the best from it yet. -
It's not a case of "imposible", its a case of would take very large resources to implement. The animations alone are a lot of work (not quite so bad for wall jumping as climbing or running perhaps), and you would have to change the way the game engine handles vertical surfaces. Things like 45 degree slopes then become an issue - at what point do you switch from treating a gradiant as horizontal and treat it as vertical?

Paragon City is by the sea. Seaside places often have fog. It is also a major city. Major cities are often shrouded in smog. I used to work on the 13th floor of an office block in Manchester. I don't think I can remember ever seeing a haze free view from the window. If anything Paragon City is clearer than most cities in my experience.

how does a merging server mean a game dieing look at eve online one bloody server
[/ QUOTE ]
But it always has been, they didn't merge anything to become one server.
[/ QUOTE ]i know it has...i can't really see the fuss about going down a server really as it been show game can do it. to me i can't see it as a game dieing really i really look at it like one less server to look after less sorting things out.
but i like pears, some people hate them you can't please everyone one
[/ QUOTE ]
Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it not true.
Imagine you support a premier league football club. Your club suddenly anounces they are selling off all thier star players. What are you going to think? -
Yup. If a cable is out anyware, all the data which would use it gets rerouted onto the rest of the net, so everyone suffers.
Having said that, I have one character on Union who is getting constant mapserver DCs today, and another on Union who is has had no DCs today, so I think there is something fishy locally too. -
Reason A: because of the message it sends:
1) Merging servers gives the impression of a dying game.
2) No one wants to invest time in a game that is dying.
3) People leave the game because they think its dying.
4) Soon there are fewer people on the merged servers than there where on the live servers.
5) The game is cancelled, and we have no servers.
Reason B: Defiant is not the least populated server. The french and german ones are. Server merging would mean an end to French and German support.
Reason C: Lots of threads like this also give the impression that the game is dying, and therefore are damaging to the game. that is why you will be flamed for starting this thread. -
Its in the abandoned sewers, not the regular sewers I think.

Anyone know if Ice tankers are having the same problem then?
[/ QUOTE ]
To a degree. Most -def powers need to hit you to take effect, so a high def offers some protection. However, if you face many -def attacks, chances are some will get though, causing more and more to hit you. This is what I refer to as cascade failure, it's an issue with all +def sets, and it can happen very quickly sometimes. Def debuff resistance doesn't stop it, it just slows it down a little.
However, the devs are aware of the issue, and this is why most +def sets have some kind of back up. Ice gets Chilling Embrace, Hoarfrost and Hibernate, Shield Defense a significant amount of resistance (which actually doesn't contibute much unless def is reduced) lots of +max hp, and a little -dmg. SR gets +res when at low hp etc.
It's something you learn to cope with if you want to play a +def set.
The AT I have that really suffers from -def attacks is my bane spider.
A def debuff resistance IO isn't a bad idea, perhaps as part of a purple def set. It wouldn't be a cure all though. -
There are a few powers that increase or decrease your inertia atribute.
Inertial Reduction, obviously, CJ is another. Stacking those powers on you will allow you to change direction in the air more quickly, either flying or jumping. -
I slotted one of the new Zephyr Universal travel mag 4 KB protection today, and noticed something quirky.
It works like the other KB protection IOs, the protection is always on (even if you have it in a different form if you are a keldian). However, unlike the others, when the power it is slotted in is active it displays a buff icon.
This is pointless and potentially confusing, since it doesn't actually notify you of anything. -
Yeah, I'm having that to. Do you think we should tell them their servers are knackered, or just wait until they find out on thier own?

I don't think sorudo claims to be any kind of authority on the English language, and it's just a simple enough misconception about the meaning of a word.
[/ QUOTE ]
If this was the first time this poster has made pronouncements based upon a misconception of the meaning of a word, then I would have let it pass. However this poster makes something of a habit of it. -

From the dictionary:

Hover: to stay in one place in the air

English isn't your first language Sorudo, don't try to tell those who do have English as thier first language what English words mean.
[/ QUOTE ]
^ Be Told.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think that's a particularly good attitude to have universally. I've known plenty of people who don't have English as their first language speak it, and know it, far better than a huge amount who do.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some do, and some just think they do. -

No, you get the power, but it expires after a few minutes. If you play that character for more than a few minutes every day it will never build up to anything useful wherever you log out (but you will get a badge).
Most of those powers are only useful for characters who are logged off for several consecutive days. -

To fight against her, you will find she mostly mezzes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Apparently only when she feels threatened...when I came up against her she just contemptuously swatted me and my imps.
[/ QUOTE ]
Minor spoiler:
In the new mission where you have to rescue her from longbow, I did wonder who was rescuing who. -
It's against attacks that have the "melee attack" flag set.
Most attacks are classed as either Melee, Range or AoE. -
She is a officialy a dominator, but she mostly uses patron and signature powers.
In reality NPCs don't have ATs. None of them have inherents for one thing.
To fight against her, you will find she mostly mezzes. -
It's worth mentioning that like CJ, the def bonus in hover depends on your AT. It gives the biggest bonus to tankers and VEATs, with blasters and dominators next.
It's also worth mentioning that slotted hover is significantly faster than supressed fly, so it is much better for arial combat, which is what it was designed for.
And it can be used to hold Def, Universal Travel and Fly IOs. -
I can report thet -75% range in white dwarf taunt proved extremely effective fo defeating temporal incursions by the Malta group.
-
I seem to remember BAB getting a bit of a makeover at one point. But yes, I agree it would be nice to see some of those important characters getting a makeover. The main villains have much better models.

[ QUOTE ]
Combat Jumping costs a piddly bit of endurance, give Immobilization resistance and a small bit of defence as well as increased jump height.
So no, not really anything like Hurdle and far from useless.
[/ QUOTE ]
It also gives increased control (including when flying), and is an excellent place to slot Def IOs (e.g LotG, Kismet, Karma) Jumping IOs (+Stealth), and Universal Travel IOs (KB prot, Slow Resist).
All together an excellent power. Don't leave home without it.
