    Are tankers obsolete/ obsolesent is certainly a much better topic for discussion, since reasonable arguments can be made on either side, whereas The original "Melee ATs becoming obsolete" is plainly silly.

    Unfortunately, it's just so much more fun to wind certain people up than have a sensible discussion.

    You slot what drops. Its quite possible to get a fair smattering of common and set IOs doing that. In fact doing this to save inf in the long term is the only real point of slotting low level IOs.

    Or you can sell or you drops, which should enable you to be fully kitted out with DOs then SOs when they become available. This was not possible prior to issue 9: I was level 50 before I got my first character fully kitted out with +3 SOs. It was made that way deliberatly so you have to make a strategic decision about what to slot and when.


    In any MMO economy high level characters are going to have much higher buying power than low level characters. If they didn't, there would be something seriously wrong. This inevitably makes low levels net sellers and high levels net buyers.


    Twinking is considered an explot. Therefore the game is balanced around characters that are not twinked.

  9. If you solo missions, bosses will only normally occur where they are scripted to do so (most commonly, just one, in the end room). If the boss type isn't specified in the mission, it will be a random type (i.e. either a MI or a RM for carnies).
  10. Newspaper/Police Band defeat carnie boss missions spawn MIs 50% of the time.

    And the devs can't act on every suggestion made, nor can they do things instantly. You have to decide what you think the priorities should be. Do you think the devs should drop everything right now to work on your suggeston, and not release an issue until it is done? The dynamic zone changes in RV was one of the main reasons issue 7 was delayed so long. Was it worth the wait?

    Oh, by the way, calling someone a curmudgeon is a personal attack, and therefore against forum rules.
  14. You won't see any mention of IOs in the manual: the game was designed to be played with TOs, DOs, and SOs. IOs where a later optional addition. It says that in the in game hints.

    Besides which, a +3 TO gives a bigger bonus than a lebvel 10 IO and a +3 DO gives a bigger bonus than a level 15 IO. And an SO gives a bigger bonus than any IO under levele 30.

    I would expect that other game would be still chugging along with its sub of 130,000 long after SWG had panicked into making ill judged rules changes and managed to alienate the few players they did have.

    No licence will sell a duff product. It may get people to try something, but, contrary to what you seem to think, they are not idiots, and will soon recognise bantha poodoo.


    And CO isn't even a decient licence.

    Normal Combat

    Maybe this information would be helpful then:

    Time to proliferate an existing powerset: 1-3 months

    Time to develop a new but strieghtforward powerset: 3-6 months

    Time to develop a new, more complex powerset (e.g. new MM primary): 6-24 months

    Time to develop a new AT: 1-3 years

    So far, you have suggested enough powersets to keep the devs busy for te next 10 years, without any other new content.

    It was just about half decent.

    Star Wars has many many more fans than either Batman or Superman (and as for the rest, Green who?).

    It flopped worse than FFM when his levitation device was hit by an EMP.

    More high quality suggestions, thoroughly researched, using the search function, completly developed, all implications weighed up, amount of workload estimated, and trade off value calculated (i.e. what would you be prepared to not have while the developers are working on your suggestion).

    Not if it turns out to be carp, which is quite possible. Just look at SWG or AoC.

    I am not a comic book fan. I play CoX because I enjoy the gameplay more than the othe MMOs I have tried. As far as I'm conerned, any new MMO is a competetor for CoX, regardless of genre. DC may have rubbish gameplay. It sounds like CO does have rubbish gameplay. On the other had, by all acounts WAR has excellent gameplay, so maybe that is the competetor that NorCal needs to worry about.
