yea, but steps forward were followed by steps back, specifically the "we're always fixing bugs" statement. and the "doing something else isn't acceptable" comment even though thats the route they've been taking.

i'm probably just way too jaded, but for me, that statement admitting their fault would hold alot more weight if it was someone like say, posi who headed the thing, said it and not some relatively new producer.

    Quote:
ZAM: It seems that for the PvP crowd in City of Heroes, development hasn't been exactly at the level of what they've wanted. Are there any future developments coming along for die-hard PvPers?

Nate: We always fix bugs that come up with the current PvP system, and a couple of years ago we made it possible to balance PvP separately from PvE. The challenge is that it is very difficult to balance PvP in a game with over a thousand powers in hundreds of potential combinations, and we have made some changes in the past that didn't end up the way we wanted them to. "Just doing something else" isn't going to make anyone happy, least of all us. The community has given us great PVP feedback over the years and we have had some sound ideas internally, but we also want to find the right solution.

We get a lot of feedback about many aspects of the game from our current players as well as our former players. We have addressed a great number of player requests with Going Rogue, Issue 19, and Issue 20 by adding new zones and significant storylines, adding alignment switching, merging markets, and crafting a real endgame.
this epic dodge/false info surprise anyone?

this stuck out almost as much to me as the dodging.

because if this guy actually believes this statement to be true or someone has fooled him into thinking this is true, then we have waaaaaay more problems than i thought.

there isn't any way they'll remove it and there isn't any way of dealing with the hurdle. every normal form of action has been taken. sticky threads with alot of valid information, PMs with valid information, multiple petitions. hell no one liked the changes during beta and they told the pvp community to gtfo, this stuff isn't for you.

there really is no chance of them removing the changes. why? because they don't give 2 ****s about pvp. they don't post here. they don't answer questions about pvp(im really waiting for someone to show up at pax and just not let up during a Q&A). they forced a half *** system and turned around and washed their hands of it.

and thats the big issue. they tried it and it didn't work. great, admit your failure, remove the changes, start over, no harm no foul. they won't do that. they won't talk about it.

there could be more, but it is very very unlikely when you look at how everything transpired and the facts at hand.

Personally I'm not mad or frustrated at all. Personally I'm disappointed because every time I see someone complain about PvP, it's a poorly written, poorly interpreted, and poorly structured argument that comes off as the poster just being annoyed that they keep losing in the current PvP system, so they come here to rage about it and blame it on the developers.
personally i don't blame them for raging because they lost due to not being one of the 4-5 combo's that actually do well in the current system that the devs forced on them. i don't see a problem with it at all.

i'll agree with you on the poorly written, interpreted and structured part, but quite honestly, all the people that put together well written, interpreted and structured arguements for pvp left long ago or have been worn down so much that its a moot point(hence the lol this thread doesn't work earlier in the thread.)

    Quote:
I remember once I tried to get into PvP. To be quite frank, I enjoyed it...for a while. But the one thing that eventually drove me off wasn't the "broken" PvP system, nor the number of times I lost matches (and I lost 90% of the matches I took part in...but I had FUN! And that was important to me!). What did drive me was how the PvP community behaves in general. Just constant blaming and complaining and raging. Maybe my views are skewed. But this is what I see.
this is really the top argument i see when pver's talk about pvp experiences. albeit the bulk of that attitude being the way it is now is from simply being ignored for the past 3 years. However what i assume you and what most players are talking about is in game inmaturity, griefing, raging ect. and quite frankly i never understood it. why? because if you're on a bad pug and someone talks in a manor that offends you or in a server chat channel its not difficult to just pop em on gignore and go about your business. its the same way in pvp, someone pisses you off, pop on a gignore and keep on truckin'. hell, i take BC chat out of my tab when it gets overly stupid(most of the time i find it funny if nothing else but sometimes it becomes too much)

    Quote:
And I come here and see this thread, and it fits the pattern quite nicely. "Hey guys let's start a petition! The developers are stupid and this game is gonna die if they don't fix PvP!!!!"
i don't think he ever said the game was going to die without fixes, did he?

    Quote:
Do you think the PvPers deserve something more special than the base builders?
actually, in a perfect world, they'd be fixed together. because that would mean that they base improvement and pvp improvements in the same issue has strong implications of bringing base raiding back which were beyond fun.

i do find it stupid that when a wish list for a new issue thread is created, people list things like new costumes, low level content, more badges, ect. stuff that has been readily added in large amount of the past few issues, yet when someone mentions something like base raids, base fixes, pvp fixes it either gets ignored or denounced.

it does depend on what we're comparing, but even still, Spin is a very nice AoE and you could easily get 2 off in the time it takes to do double mire and a human form AoE/nova AoE(assuming proper builds for both). not to mention your best human AoE attack is subject not only to you killing someone before you get it off, but the position of were they are which, considering how the current AI system likes to run, can be very inconvenient.

that being said, i could see how a WS AoE output could out damage a veat, but it really does depend on what we're comparing, for instance that same WS aoe chain wouldn't compete with a fort AoE chain, not to mention both have things that neither kheld could offer in the the form of self/team buffs, the mez toggle, and overall consistancy( one not being as mob dependent as the other). in the end, the veat is just the more current up to date designed AT and khelds are, for the most part, poorly designed for the current game and could use a buff to keep them(both khelds and all forms) in the conversation.

Veats are vastly better than both. they do more damage and more survivable in that they have comparable defense/resistance on top of mez protection. my perma ML NW out performs my perma eclipse any day of the week.

how does the interrupt time have anything to do with eclipse? because you can take the damage better during a mez? the situation were dwarf would detoggle would assume that you're getting stacked with stuns and even a WS slotted for HP (which would yield something aroudn 1500-1600) you'd still get taken out.

As for the VEAT thing... VEATs play differently from Khelds (and are quiet different in backstory and feel), so I would never suggest someone that enjoys Khelds to just go there.

But please don't pretend you know what's good or bad, and do not ever accuse the developers of being lazy or incompetent because to be quite blunt, you have no the slightest bit of clue about what goes in in Paragon Studios.
    .
actually, this is completely wrong. in the case of pvp, the player base knows much more than the developers do. The devs had no idea what they were doing with the changes. they thought they did, but look how that turned out.

and yea, the devs were lazy and incompetent in the pvp fixes. making the DR curve based on AT and not on a powerset basis was incredibly lazy. and ignoring all the suggestions made during beta and since despite being well substantiated was even more incompetent.

they might not say that they don't give a hoot about the pvp playerbase, but the facts say otherwise. they've only posted in these threads twice since i13 (seriously, you can look it up) once to reinforce their terrible ideas, and the other to poke the bear saying that CoP wouldn't mean base raids, which didn't require saying at all. there have been multiple threads, PMs, complaints, petitions about bugs that are clearly broken yet have been in game since i13(talking about simple bug fixes like power values, not large scale stuff). the fact of the matter is that the players are the victim of the devs nasty catch 22. in a perfect world the devs would look at pvp again when they have the chance to fix the half*** system they put in, but theres no reason to since the player base has become so diminished *because* of the half*** system they put in so they'll probably never look at in the forceable future.

this thread is pointless and has been done multiple times over, but please don't diminish it and past attempts by justifying the devs in there actions. there is none.

    /thread.
  11. what an incredibly original idea. im sure that this will catch the devs attention because we've never tried this before and they paroose the pvp forums o so often.
  12. the crash should go or the -recov should go. one or the other. for all nukes. khelds, defenders, corrs and blasters. keep the recharge and damage the same and probably increase the end cost.

I like fitting in Stygian Return if I can, but you don't need it. On a perma-eclipse human build I would prefer to pick up the pool AoE taunt power as well.

All that said, I have never played a human build. Everything you could possibly need to cover mez, however, is listed in Dechs' post.

i had dark extraction in my original build but dropped it after doing afew itfs and lg's and found it dead more than anything. i did fit in stygian return on the redo, but taunt, im on the fence about.

I'm extremely excited, and humbled, to have the opportunity to be a part of the best Community (with a capital "C") out there. As EMPulse said, I've had a lot of experience with City of, with many hours spent patrolling the streets of Paragon (and wrecking some havoc on the Rogue Islands of course). I'm stoked to be jumping into the new Going Rogue content and have been in awe of all the new content added to the game over the years.

I'll be spending a lot of time in the coming weeks "in the trenches" digging into the meat of the game and getting to know what really makes the Community tick. There's a lot to learn, so I'll be counting on you guys to help me learn what's important to the Community and where you feel we should be working to improve as a team.

The Community team here at Paragon is second to none, and I'm very privileged to be a part of it. As previously stated, Avatea will be the smiling Community face at the PAX East meet and greet (and the panel), however I plan on joining in on the fun at upcoming player gatherings, so I'm looking forward to meeting many of you face to face.

So there you have it...feel free to toss questions my way. Let's get to know one another!
as a favor to the community...please....talk to the devs about pvp....mod08 tried but it didn't work out for him.
