Quote:Ah, but they did give it some love. They changed several aspects, rebalanced the cast times, added some knockdown effects, and even came up with a new mechanic for EM to roll with.Energy Melee is the worst set for me, and I yearn for the day when it gets some love, including changing Stun in the same vein as Cobra Strike and Clobber got before it.
...Then they realized how much work they did, shrugged, and put in some new animations, then called it Kinetic Melee.
^_~
(Honestly, Energy Melee does need a serious overhaul. I'm just not really seeing a way to fix it without breaking ye olde Cottage Rule.) -
Quote:Yes... but I try hardto forget that Flambeaux exists any time I don't have to directly deal with her...::coughcoughFlambeauxcoughcough::
SHE goes villain to satisfy her inner narcissist...
And transitioning from a D-rank hero to an F-rank villain isn't something to be proud of... -
Quote:Meh... I'm not sure they could come up with a believable 'Statesman' or 'Manticore' pool... The Villain Patrons work because each one has their own organization within Arachnos backing them. The Signature Heroes do not... leading to the scenario of "Am I supposed to believe that (Signature Heroe X) took time out to train my character personally? Why? And how would that work for the other thirty dozen or so with that pool out there?"Perhaps the Midnighters, Vanguard and Ouroboros (Time Manip like?) could be the generic patrons of all alignments. Heroic patrons should probably be Heroes, it makes sense.
Statesman, Back Alley Brawler, Manticore and all of "Those Guys" would make more sense. But I would not object to Hero Corps, Longbow, Wyvern or even PPD. Heroes need Patron pools for that extra bit of variety that we need to flavor each individual character.
(Okay, Manticore does have Wyvern, but I thought he was 'supposedly' keeping that connection under wraps, so Wyvern can act when he, a Hero, can't?)
Also, before I will believe any Hero Corp patron, I insist on seeing Hero Corp DO something! Something more than stand around and change our difficulty settings, at any rate. -
Watching the video... meh. Just an added finishing pose? No, thank you.
While some of it was nifty, the only thing I saw that I think was superior to what we have available, was the Teleport. Much more useful than the version we all know and... tolerate for the sake of theme. -
Um... actually, Villains CAN get the Witch Hat. You just need to grind out the Meticulous Badge during the Halloween event.
I know, it's not as easy or as accessible as the Katie Hammon Task Force, but it is there.
But Villains are still barred from those Pauldrons, so feel free to kvetch about that one... -
Considering that you practically can't do a Tip Mission in the 20-30 level range without tripping over ominous tidings that 'Something is going to Happen in Dark Astoria Soon,' I'd say the Devs have plans for the zone, and we'll just have to wait until it comes up in the queu for an overhaul.
-
I agree.
I'd also like to see Hero Corp actually doing something one of these days... -

Recently, when trying to launch CoH, my computer goes to a black screen... and just stops there. I never get to the point where I can log into the game, just a black screen. At this point, I have to manually turn off my machine to get out of it.
I do not know what could have changed to cause this... I recently replaced my wireless antenna (including drivers), but I tested the game right after that, and it worked then. So I have no idea what changed in the last couple of days to render me unable to access the game. (Well, besides Murphy deciding that I don't deserve to participate in the Head Start?)
Here's my machine's info:

This is a Laptop. (My last machine gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago...) Any help or insite would be appreciated. -
I hold to the hope that the Zone redesigns, when they happen, will fix the few issues I do have with Redside.
While I don't car for the 'thug' mentality prevalent in the older content, I did like the idea of needing to do Mayhem missions to get introduced to mission contacts. (Several of those arcs are disappointing, but that's beside the point.)
Of course, circumstance means that I solo more than I team, so the lack of people Redside hasn't really deterred me. Except when I want to actually run a Strike ForceĀ -_-;; -
Quote:One big issue... Shield throw was nixed for the actual shield set, because it stepped on Marvel's toes with Captain America's copyright. In short, if Shield Defense didn't get it, a power pool certainly won't.Shield (Captain America would technically be a Martial/Will Scrapper)
T1: Shield Throw: Ranged Weak DMG, Foe Stun
T2: Raise Shield: Toggle Self +Def(All Except Psionics)
T3: Shield Slam: Melee Mod. DMG, Foe KD
T4: Take Cover: Toggle Self +Res(Smashing, Lethal, Fire, Cold)
That aside, the idea is not without merit... it certainly would make those Sword & Gun characters more feasible... but I wouldn't hold my breath. -
While all the older zones need a brush up, I suspect that the next ones to be looked at will be Perez Park and King's Row.

Quote:Really? If my fame is filled, I have never had a tip drop... not even for a morality mission. I can't seem to get a new tip, no matter how much I grind, until one of the fame slots opens.... except you don't have to wait a day to run the morality mission.
The only way I've been able to spoof it is by being sure to leave enemies alive in my 10th Tip mission. Once I finish it, defeating those enemies seem to be the only way I've had any chance for getting the Morality mission that day. -
Was the open beta for a limited time only? I just tried to log in, and got a message that I no longer had access to that server...
-
Yeah... I've got a few to reroll/resurrect.
Dr. Corundum will be changed from a Stone/WP Brute to a Stone/Regen Brute, to better match his concept, and because I generally find WP to be boring.
With Energy Aura being redone, Terminal Steel will likely be reborn. I'm not sure if I will leave her as a SS/EA Brute, or switch out for a StJ/EA Brute (or Scrapper). (Although I still wish the devs would give us a no fade option for Energy Cloak!!)
I'm also debating if I should reroll Blazing Rave, SS/Fiery Aura brute, as StJ/Fiery instead.
I've also got a couple in mind for Titan Weapons, but I'm going to wait and see what that actually looks like/works like, before committing to that... -
I could get to the server (after a wait) but could not unlock anything. And when I made just a regular character to run through the new intro, I got booted back to log in, with a message that it couldn't unlock the character slot I was using (The first one.)
I could not even access the market, it came up with a message that my session had timed out right away, and no amount of refreshing could fix it. -
'Traditional' fairies will probably run into the same reason MMs don't get obviously female pets now.
While I am aware of all the folklore and such behind them, that more than dictates that there are male fae... people think fairies, they think Tinkerbell, these days.
That said... you know, a plant-based MM set would be interesting. The Mastermind could use Thorn-style powers themselves, and have plant-based minions...
Hmm... much potential there, I think... -
I'll probably try them all, eventually.
That said, I will wait until I have a better idea of what they look like/how they perform, before I finalize any plans.
...
Well, except one. Possibly. If Titan Weapons DOES include a Staff model (Which, personally, I doubt), then I will definitely be making a Titan Weapon/WP scrapper, to finally craft the character I wanted to since before I started playing... -
Bah!
How do you get to see this? I just got a the first 51 seconds! -
I have to admit, a lot of the time - it's little issues that determine if I like or dislike a set, moreso than performance. Things like the over-the-top animations for Dual Pistols, or how the Broadsword/Battle Axe/War Mace animations are not only mostly identical, but seem to be so ponderous, that I can't suspend my disbelief enough to see 'That is a person wielding a weapon' over 'that is a person waving around something they can barely lift to pretend they are wielding a weapon.'
But the one that just slapped me in the face when I was designing a new character was the Assault Rifle clipping issue.
(In-game unlockable versions... the Council guns, the Nemesis guns, and the Tommy Gun... are not pictured. Not that I expect them to be any better.)
Seriously... is there some easy fix to this, or are we just to accept that Assault Rifle stocks have to occupy the same location as the character's forearms? Even with the hip-shooting the set has to deal with, this constant and inescapable clipping just drives me crazy. Especially as it's not just one or two, but every single available model.
What is the justification that leaves this kind of clipping in across the board?
Whew... sorry about the mini-rant. I just had to get that off my chest. -
I support this. Sure, the Echo will be nice and all, but if they are going to wreck an entire zone for story reasons... we should darn well have more of a story to it than the Tutorial mission!
-
Not only is this graphically impossible at the moment (there is but one model type in the game - humanoid. Unless you want a 'Bird' like the Soaring Hero in Pocket D, your not going to see it,) but it also breaks all the conventions of the Mastermind AT. Frankly, even IF they add a bird model to the game to make a falconer, I would be more than willing to suspend my disbelief to the point where I'll accept he can control 5 at a time.
-
Quote:I'll /sign this. Especially for Energy Cloak, though - it's currently the worst offender. If I want to play as a silhouette, I would have rolled a Stalker in the first place! Let me see my character! That's not stealth suppression, it's a copy of the "No Fade or Pulse" option that Cloak of Shadows gets. Stealth suppression is where you lose your stealth effect and enemies who couldn't see you before can see you now.
I'm all for a "No Fade" option for ALL stealth powers in the game. The partial transparency is irritating in the cases where I don't want it. -
Quote:Huh... didn't even think of that.See if you had done something similar as in this post.
...
Okay, it works now. My search-fu is obviously weak.
Thanks. -
If it helps any, my operating system is Windows XP (Home edition), and my internet is through a wireless connection through AT&T U-Verse.
