Fairy Mastermind

I saw those ideas about angelic and holy masterminds. They were nice ideas but not fit in game very well. So I startet to think that perhaps masterminds needs some little bit more goodly looking set.

Fairies are one popular costume theme and perhaps fairy summoner fits in game lore better than angels.

Of course those nasty little creatures can be very villainous if needed.

Fairies could be slightly squishier than average MM pets but they can fly and shoot some bolts, confuses and perhaps fears. MM itself could be more like buffer/debuffer than healer.

Perhaps biggest boss fairy could use thorns melee and thorns aura.

Little more info on what they'd do, I suppose - can't say I'm enthralled with the idea, personally, but that's neither here nor there.

And I have to admit, reading the title, this was the first thing that came to mind.

Turn Fairy into Pixies, and make them look like Tinkerbell and friends, and I'll /sign this!

Oo never seen that Monty Python sketch before and I'm seen almost all of them.
(my english is not good enough to find any hidden meanings about anything )

Redcaps are neat idea but they cannot fly

Isn't fairy and pixie synonyms? Same creature with different name. Ok lets say pixies then if it makes you happy

That idea was option about that angelic and holy MM. Idea came in to my mind because I recently unlocked my buff pets vet reward. Perhaps some people would like them. I'm seen many fairy and elven costumes in game. (myself I would love to get evil Mars attack aliens as pets) Everything not need to be so grim and dark. My ex girlfriend plays many MMO's including cox and she said shes annoyed because most content of games is so clearly for young guys. But... well maybe some dudes could use them too :/ I don't know.

Well what they should to do... Perhaps something like this:

minion - some bolt, not sure what fits the best and confuse as side effect.
lieutenant - fear attack and maybe heal for other pets... or even resurrect them.
boss - scrapper like thorn melee attack and thorn aura.

Upgrading them makes stronger side effects.

So when minions and lieutenants holds mobs boss can hit them down.

Maybe MM itself could be slightly more like debuff and area control than other MM's. Usually main thing of MM is to be horrible wave of destruction so this one is little bit tricky.

edit. Maybe I like more almost naked girls flying around me than big bearded wrinkled gnomes

edit2. Ooo oooh they need their own version of posse

Well, since fairies are supposed to be small, why not animate them as little swarms, rather than individual entities?

It depends on lore. They can be very small but perhaps slightly bigger fits in cox better. Swarms are so small than they can be any insects then.

edit. Finnish fey folk are about one meter tall... but they looks like redcaps :/ I think size of redcap is good. You can actually see how they looks and they are small enough to give right feeling of small creatures.

I can see easily Red Caps as a villainous alternate pet set for the full on heroic Fairy/Pixie pets. . .

A sort of plant-hybrid fairy-type set would work, with a [Vial of Bees]-style power in the Primary akin to [Gang War] but more of a horrible debuff.

In essence I suppose a mad-scientist MM would work...

Oh! Oh! *is inspired by University Challenge being on in the background*

Premium AT - Mad Scientist! Or Just Scientist! (The '!' is important)

Using the power of Science! the player has access to a minion creation system...

Okay, maybe I need to go and lie down/draw up the idea for this.

I'll hit some things in game until the madness passes.

well, Fairys come out Faerie which is Old French for describing the supernatural realm and goes as far back as latin words describing the Fates...the Irish referred to them as "the Sidhe"

this may have also been confused with such terms as "The Fair Folk" used to describe the fae

"The Fair Folk" is used because people in general do not want to insult the Fae/Sidhe, because they are well known for being dangerous, powerful and easily provoked

Faerie themselves are not what I would call either good or bad...the collected stories about them do not have them responding in ways that are easily predictable if you stick to common conceptions of good and evil.

Fae are dangerous, and that is about the most accurate description you can get

that said, a fae summoner would be interesting...given game lore, I'd avoid the Red Caps, but having others would be interesting

knockers and goblins or maybe pixies for minions, not sure for lieutenants, maybe fetches or such...and the problem we run into is that the most bad-*** fae are the fae ladies, and though I doubt we'd get a full out fae-queen as the boss summon, I could see a fae lady

question would be: summer or winter?

you'd almost have to split it into two power sets to do it right.

A summer set with fire and plants and a winter set with cold and dark

of course, the fact that this, done right, just about guarantees a female minion might get this put down

they still haven't given us female ninja or mercs yet

I wonder if the tech from Dual Pistols Swap Ammo can be adapted to change mastermind pet attacks.

You could have Light (Energy) or Dark (Negative Energy) Fairy attacks, or as Lycanus said, attack types based around the seasons, Spring (Plant), Summer (Fire), Fall (Storm/Electric), or Winter (Ice).

Edit: Changed Earth to Storm/Electric combo for Fall.

Season based powers sounds neat.

It's not easy to translate but those "elven" folk (not actual translation) can be dangerous or friendly here too. In old finnish lore they can protect some house (where people lives), place or buildings, they can secretly help people or sometimes make people lost in forests just for fun. Sometimes they are spirits, paganic gods, dead people or that fey folk. Sometimes they are very beautiful or sometimes horrible looking. But never make them angry. It was common thing at paganic times to sacrifice some food for them at forest and next morning all food was gone

edit. I forget that "underground people". They live in underground realm and it's some kind of mirror world of normal living people world. Hm... sounds like Croatoa. They makes nasty spells on careless people. If they try to help you its trap. Don't take food what they gives or you will be their prisoner rest of your life.

'Traditional' fairies will probably run into the same reason MMs don't get obviously female pets now.

While I am aware of all the folklore and such behind them, that more than dictates that there are male fae... people think fairies, they think Tinkerbell, these days.

That said... you know, a plant-based MM set would be interesting. The Mastermind could use Thorn-style powers themselves, and have plant-based minions...

Hmm... much potential there, I think...

I just noticed they already made female pets as "Victorias". Do we have any hope then?

the reason I said no red caps is not because they wouldn't fit thematically, but that in the game Lore, they're too independent for me to see them as a power set summon.....Lore summon certainly...but not a power set
