My understanding of it (based on the script-books) was that he kept his series notes and outline with him when traveling and the hotel staff at a convention ended up throwing them out. Then one of the few major plot threads he could remember was Byron, who was originally planned to serve as a love interest to Ivanova ... but then Claudia Christian didn't renew her contract.

    That's what JMS wrote anyway.

    Premium IO's?

They do eventually let premium players have permanate access to the invention system. It's just a bit high on the reward tree. I think it's one of the benefits of competing tier 7.

At least the monthly IO access thing is pretty cheap, but if you don't want to do that but still want to play I suggest slotting up your second build with SOs instead of replacing the IOs. At least that way you're not irrevocably getting rid of the IOs in your character.

Sure it can deal all that damage in one quick burst, but it does so with a significant set-up time which makes it easily the slowest paced blaster secondary around when played as it seems was intended.

Used to play stealthily and set traps it's damaging, and safe, and slow.

I'm pretty much resigned to never getting the Black Wolf myself. I got it on the second pack over on the beta server which, of course, means it's just never going to happen with my luck.

That's entirely too reasonable a statement. I demand more histrionics!

How far along on the reward tiers are you by the way? If you're T9 then once I22 goes live you would be able to get 5 packs for a token in the repeatable rewards section. You may want to save those for other things I suppose, but at least you could still occasionally try for the pet without specifically using more cash for it.
  7. Well, that's possibly one of the more fair assessment of the current state of CoH that I've run across so far and I'm not just saying that because it was generally positive either.

In the years of playing my energy blaster I don't think I've ever had a serious complaint about my use of knockback in a team environment. I had one complaint I don't take seriously where someone threw a fit and demanded I get kicked from a Moonfire TF before we started because having an energy blaster would lead to us wiping constantly. The guy quit the team when they wouldn't kick me and the TF went off quite smoothly after that.

Sure KB can used to ill effect in teams but I don't think I'd ever consider calling it griefing. It's pretty easy to work around the issue and even moderately intelligent playing on the part of the blast using player will minimize the issue.

As I understand it any IOs purchased from the store can be used regardless of if you're VIP or not.

To the OP, may I suggest going to a trainer and using a second 'build' of your character. That'll let you re-slot your powers for SOs instead of whatever IOs you might have slotted without flat out removing the IOs from your old build. That way if you ever decide to pay for a subscription again they'll be there.

I'm not sure how you figure that. If the 'gear' you buy through the in-game store is 'better' than the kind you can get in-game and that's the only way to get said gear .... you have a 'pay to win' situation.

See, I always thought it was a system that let you create a character that was BETTER equipped/geared through purchase than you'd be able to make just from sticking to in-game content.

By that definition the whole incarnate system is 'pay-to-win', but I don't know if subscribe-to-win is a thing really.

I don't think that's so much company policy as it is coincidence. As long as there are no 'show stopping' bugs I imagine it could be released. Not saying it will be or anything though.

That's actually in-game right now along with them being tradeable on the market. I think the only real thing we're missing at the moment is them being a T9 reward and I think they said that would be in I22 during the ustream earlier today.

Ouch, that really sucks. I don't think I would have purchased more than just the 12 pack since that was what I had left-over points for. Beyond that I probably would have waited until the next issue when we'll be able to get 5 packs for each reward token as a T9 reward.

Ahh, but you can also get a ton of merits out of the hero pack things too now. So not quite so much anymore.

The ATOs themselves don't drop from enemies. The enhancement catalyst things that improve them will drop from Dark Astoria enemies though.

Well they tried it. It just sort of fell apart. You were supposed to get some in-game thing for buying the rulebooks too.
  20. Well firstly I want to say that really sucks. F2P folks really should be able to use merits to buy ATOs. Hopefully that's an oversight and they fix it, or if not hopefully they change their mind.

Even though you don't have access to Wentworth's the things are still tradeable 'in person'. You should try asking around (preferably in global channels) and see if anyone wants to trade for ones you can use.

Have you had prior issues with store purchases? I've not really heard of any myself. I mean, the UI sucks horribly, but the items purchased through the thing pretty much as a general rule.

Personally if I were limited to playing just 2 characters I'd probably purchase character slots instead of the packs. I kind of feel for you free players in that regard. I don't have a huge case of alt-itis, but 2 just doesn't seem like enough to really have fun with either.
  21. It also occurs to me that a lot of those huge percentage increase reports from other 'freemium' conversion games was their reporting of the playerbase, not income.

While a 20% bump is admittedly less than I was expecting the games that I can think of that boasted huge player-base increases were CoH's direct competition. Those games weren't doing too well at all at the time of conversion as I understand it.

I've seen a couple. Sadly unless you give a guaranteed chance for a costume roll there will be people who have bad luck with the RNG. I actually want to say I've seen one or two people who are still missing one or two pieces after 24 rolls but I'm not completely positive about that.

Whats so special about this set that its worth almost three times the cost of a regular set?
Which is pretty much why I said that if it weren't for the costume sets that a lot less people would be complaining about the things.

I figure that's more than likely the case. If it was just the gambling in general then they would have started complaining ages back when random rolls for things were added. Of course I wouldn't be surprised if there were people that complained about them back then, but I don't recall it happening or at least not on the scale of the complaints about these packs.

Of course, to be completely honest I don't think a good chunk of the complaints going on now would be here if it weren't for costume pieces being part of the equation. Note I'm not saying everyone. I'm sure there'd still be plenty of people complaining about being able to spend real money for random in-game rewards if it weren't for the costume pieces, just not as many people.
