  1. I meant never in the literal sense: Not ever.

The only way NCSoft sees an advantage to free transfers is if a sizable portion (100's at least 1000's probably) of players would rather quit the game than pay for a transfer or roll an alt on a new server. In a game designed to encourage the creation of alts that's unlikely without the game already being close to dying off. If the game is hemoraging players at that rate you're better off milking it for all the money you can get as you wait for the end to come. So no real incentive to offer anything for free until the game is about to shut down. At that point it doesn't matter what the few remaining players do anyway.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
I expect you will eventually see free or forced server transfers in this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you looking way into the future when the game starts to die and the servers merge? Right now that doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. Certainly not while NCSoft is still pumping money into the game.

Right now there is nothing that would push NCSoft to offer free transfers. I did a quick search for other games and what they cost to transfer. Of the four I checked, WoW, UO, FFXI, and Lineage II, all were more expensive. The giant of the group, WoW, charges $25. More than double what we pay.

Eventually covers a looooong time so it's not like anyone can disagree with you. But there's no reason to expect some huge shift in the MMO market that would force companies to start offering this in the near future. Certainly not soon enough to benefit anyone unhappy with their current server.

It was a very clear attempt to try and tell me what I could and could not post. That's not disagreement, that's trying to establish thoughtcrime.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Sweet! Lighthouse commited a thoughtcrime!

And pikabko was another poster big on his rights. It was oddly the only thing he was ever clear on.

Kirkland? I thought you had taste. The view is much better from the Renault SF.
  5. Pfft. Hong Kong laughs at your notion of uncluttered airspace.

    Kai Tak Airport.

Okay, so they did close it and build a new one with more open runways. But it was still in use for over 70 years.

...and finish the job the spammers have done on it.

Seriously, it has lost all usefulness as a player tool for me .

    [/ QUOTE ]
Fixed that for you. I find the in-game email useful so I would like it to stay.
I certainly wouldn't mind some additional options, as long as I could choose to set them to work EXACTLY the way it does now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What? Didn't you read the OP? If it's bothering him it must be ruining the game for you. Because... um... he's more patient and tolerant and less prone to start rants on the forums. Especially not a new thread for a topic that has come up once a week since i9.
  7. /seconding Bill/seconding Forbin?

There was a thread on the forums recently comparing the price of server transfers in MMOs. CoH/V was either the cheapest or close to it from what I remember. NCSoft isn't ripping anyone off with this.

Since free is never going to happen, package deals would make sense for people looking to move to a new "home" server. We already have packages for character slots and MA arcs and they've offered discounts and free months when subscibing for 6 months-1 year. It's not like they're opposed to giving us a break on large expenditures.

And while I think we do see more people interested in these around 2xp weekends, I can think of reasons why someone might want to leave a server even without worrying about being locked out. Sometimes you just find a better fit elsewhere.
  8. I'm neither for or against this, but the bulk discount seems a little large. If you swapped two servers with 12 characters each that would normally take $240. You are asking for what's almost a 90% discount on the normal fee. Somehow I don't think they're going to go for that.

Maybe have it in packages of 2, 5, and 10 rather than a full swap?
  9. Oldeb

    Pocket D.

Isn't War Witch a trainer now? I thought she was cross-faction though.
  10. It's a start. Still needs quite a bit of work though. Given your love of melee over ranged we do need to get you off a blaster and onto a scrapper or brute. Like yesterday. I'm guessing you'll be much more comfortable with those ATs.

All joking aside, I just wanted to say that it took some guts to admit your problems and work to improve on them. I'm glad to see you sticking around and learning from the people here. I hope you stay for a while.
  11. Does he self-publish? What academic journal even looks at his "research"?

And is it wrong for me to hope he goes on the talk show circuit? He could then write about how audiences don't like him.
  12. Oldeb

    Chat bug

Known bug. So very known. There really isn't anything we as players can do about it. Our best hope is now that pohsyb is back in his box instead of galavanting around on his honeymoon it will get fixed. I have no idea what Paragon Studios was thinking letting him have a life outside his box.

I'm assuming it's pohsyb who'll look into it. He was the guy who did the changes to the UI and Chat back in i12. Unless I'm wrong. But either way I'm expecting him to fix it. Just cause.
  13. If they're working on their base they must have the prestige to do it. So the obvious thought would be that they are teaming and running missions, just not with you.

And you don't like people in Pocket D? And you chose Virtue?
  14. [ QUOTE ]
    1. Yes.

    2. Yes.

Your lack of use of the system does not imply no one else uses it for legitimate purposes.

  15. I can't believe I'm about to say this: I wish City Life was back. I thought he as just a sad little guy who could only dream of being as awesome as powers or Brewha when posting suggestions. Now I see that he was one of the more interesting and entertaining people on this subject. The bar keeps dropping.

Excuse me, I feel dirty and need to shower now.
  16. Crey's Folly is the best place to find them.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
like how long is eventually becasue i really don't want to put the time and effort in the hopes of some thing that might take up 2 year to come out. i have been told by friends who play this that it all rdy has been 2 years since they took them away and they haven't said much about it and ban any one who prods about it i not to worried about the banning my self due to this being a major issue to myself and that i haven't put the time and effort into this game were i would be crushed from a ban in fact i am playing with the idea of going back to wow right now becasue some old friends started it up again but i have high hopes for this game and staff so i not about to just quite now unless some thing happens to pushes me

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whoa, slow down there. First off, it hasn't been two years since base raiding was disabled. It hasn't even been one year.

Second, no need to go looking for a ban over it. If you did something like constantly pm the devs about it you'd probably just get put on ignore. It's not quite that hostile an enviroment on the forums.

And to echo what was already said, try and enjoy what we do have. If base raiding is really all you want, this may not be the game for you. That's okay, nothing wrong with not liking a game. But at least see what else there is first.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Okay, what am I missing here?

Every time I go into a PvP zone, it's made very clear that there are no rules. Everything goes. That's been the mantra on every occasion I've set foot in there.

So this professor operates under that agreement, and gets pages worth of hate for it? I'm confused.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Twixt was... I'm not sure how to explain it. He stood around and droned people. If he was attacked or threatened (in game, such as it looking like someone might kill his character) he ran. Either into the base or out of the zone or wherever.

I'll let you decide how much fun that was for people in the zone with him. But you should probably be able to guess (unless you're Twixt, I suppose) that people are going to get frustrated at your behaviour. Frustrated people tend to rant in whatever manner is available to them. In this case that would be the pages and pages about what an idiot Twixt is.

Yes, there are no rules against what he did. You'll notice that no action was ever taken against him by NCSoft over his behaviour in the PvP zones. That doesn't mean he wasn't making the game as unfun as possible for the people around him.

And yeah, I'm so thrilled to learn that he needed to do a study to learn that people don't like those they consider jerks and griefers. Or that groups tend to favor people who follow the norms of that group. Really shocking stuff. This wasn't funded with any sort of grant money, right?
  19. Issue 13 came out last December. I'm sure you can find one of the other thousand threads on this, if they haven't been purged to make room for the thousands of threads on farming.

If you wait another issue you can see the thousands of threads about how i16 is ruining the game. Of course, I'd expect you to have just discovered the Mission Architect by that time so we can all look forward to you adding to the farming rage then.

So options for dealing with this kind of situation is good?

OK, lets have options . . . many options.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This isn't about this suggestion in particular, but I hate this non-logic when it pops up. The idea that if X is needed/wanted then having more and more ways to do X is the greatest thing ever has never proven true. It just makes things redundant and confusing, especially if the first choice has proven simple and effective.

And I'm sure you're perfectly correct in this:
    [ QUOTE ]
"The devs have stated some ATs are not meant to solo on invicible"

Why? That might require some creativity on their part?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Game balance is clearly not a factor, just sheer laziness and ineptitude.
  21. Nope, nothing like that. The only way to do it yourself is through the Auction Houses, ParagonWiki has information on how to do it.

Note that you will lose some inf in the process and there is no recourse should someone manage to steal your transfer, so be careful.

on a server that's not Freedom, Virtue, Victory nor Justice that has the biggest amount of people who like to just charge!

Have you checked out Pinnacle yet? The standard battle cry there seems to be, "Here, hold my beer. I got this." This seems to apply to everything from grey con minions to Hamidon.

I approve of this, I originally searched all over the Facemaker looking for the Surgeon and passed by her several times because she looked like the rest.

I did the exact same thing. I'm sure there'll be a ton of complaints and generally lost people when it hits.

  24. Are you sure about needing the badge to start earning them? I'm fairly certain that the badge only lets you acquire them faster, but you will earn them at the same time you are logged out for the badge.

Yes, there is a cap on the amount per character. You can only have 10 at a time.
  25. It's okay to hate Jerry Jones though, right?
