Right now, I believe the best thing I can do for CoH is to support the Titan initiative. The only means I have to do so is lobbing some meager cash at it.
My unfocused rage would only hurt their efforts and thus my interests. Until I know who is to blame I'll merely boycott NCSoft, like many other companies that have no idea I'm doing so (for example, Steam screwed me over on one game back in 2004 and I haven't dealt with them since, though if they pick up CoH, I'd consider that enough atonement).
Quote:If NCSoft is willing to come to a reasonable agreement to save the IP and software, they wouldn't be enemies, just jerks I wouldn't be in a hurry to do business with in the near future. What if NCsoft agrees to let us or someone else purchase the IP and software? -
Do nothing, the game ends.
Do something, the game ends.
What's it matter to the do nothing crowd that some do something? They'll get their way at no cost to themselves either way. If the do something crowd manages to pull something off then they'll still have a game to play, if not they get to laugh at the people who spent time and resources in a vain attempt to challenge the inevitable fate handed to the game. -
Past kindness does not excuse future cruelty.
That we have set such a low bar for corporate behavior should be worrisome. -
In no particular order:
-Super Sidekicking. Please, any other MMO, steal this idea.
-Costume creator.
-Early game as good or better than "end game".
-It may only be Hellions and Skul(l)s at first but you still feel more super at level 5 than you do at 85 in other games.
-The community. -

Perhaps they figured out a way to harness the energy generated by burning good will.

As long as my money goes through CoH I don't really care much where it ends up. Give me something to throw money at and you've got at the minimum my old monthly sub money.

By not saying why and quashing rampant speculation. Silence speaks volumes.
Some will always assume malice. The world tends to prove them unfortunately right. -
Until there's an official explanation I'm not going to give one cent to NC Soft, PW/Cryptic, or Atari.
If you don't want blowback on your other titles you don't make it look like one of them was the reason another one got the axe, by either what you say or what you don't say. -

I wish I had run into the LoC earlier on Guardian. So long and thanks for all the tuna and blankets.
Back to that other game I guess. -
Got TWBV-P5N2-4EW8-MYNS-FSJX.
Three cheers for using the forums for this!

Quote:Condescending Wonka launch detected. Incoming in 5... 4...The only thing I care about regarding coffee talks is that there's no transcripts.
Good luck. You'll need it. The No Text crowd will be sure to shower you with memes in response.
I'd love to have transcripts. Even official summaries. It wasn't worth the ire of those who must have everything be unsearchable though. -
I had done Cuppa's launcher command as well, so that may or may not be necessary to get it to patch.
-
Got 34GX-59L9-KCK7-PZGC-LM9Q.
Yay for using your own forums and not some third party social networking getup! -
Quote:Plasma's command line should get you up and running when you've patched.I would really like to start playing.
Give us Mac users some love please!
Once I got the launcher to patch my out of date install, it took about 10 tries to get the launcher to do that, got in game just fine. -
Quote:I stopped buying market origins when they stopped doing sales on individual pieces.I've said such about some products on the market, but for me it's more a case of 'I don't think the prices charged are good value, so I don't buy them. If they were cheaper, I may reconsider that.'
P. shifter proc + End Mod for 120 pts? Yes please. The entire set for whatever, no thanks. Unless that whatever was around 120pts. Now that you have to buy the whole set even 1/2 off doesn't put most sets into impulse range.
I hate all the fiddling purples require so I *love* the ability of the attuned pieces to exemplar over their full range for set bonuses. If they were cheaper I'd be trading cold hard digital cash for all the time savings of not having to fight the AH to get the pieces I want at the level I want. But at ~$10 for some non-purple sets, not so much. -
As someone with more than a few characters locked in time due to their faces no longer being available I'll say it better not be update but add.
And some of the new faces just look ...wrong. Likely an Uncanny Valley effect, they do look more skin like but it's like dead skin or plastic made to look skin like. -
Quote:The advantage of separate servers is that Freedom can be Freedom so no other server needs to be infes... like Freedom.Cross-server teaming is where it's at - although a serverless environment would be epic.
Until we get either of those, you could always try out Exalted
It'd be the tight knit servers that'd lose out to the farm selling spam of Freedom. -
I think it took about 10 tries to get it to patch. I was able to get in game on that session. Quit to desktop and it was back to the usual reopen mess.
The command line version worked without any problems. -
Quote:No dice but now the launcher window stays open though it won't do anything, including Check of Updates. Which leads to:Someone with consistent Launcher crashing, please try this:
1. Launch Terminal from Applications > Utilities
2. Type or paste this: "defaults write com.ncsoft.nclauncher NSQuitAlwaysKeepsWindows -bool false"
Let us know if that workaround works.
Quote:When you open up terminal and run this command, what happens?
Code:/Applications/City\ of\ Heroes.app/Contents/MacOS/cider.real --cmdline '-launcher -auth 64.25.36.88 -project coh'
Wrong game version, run patcher and reconnect, server 2320.201207182341.1, client 2310.201207040204.1 -
Quote:The biggest badge gotchas in Praetoria is the Moral Highground (5 morality choices) badge and Loyalist or Resistance (choose that morality's option in a morality mission) badges since there's no Ouro.First hand experience on what to watch out for in Praetoria.
Zombie Man's guide covers the contact conflicts if you're not just doing one morality's arcs, which you'll have to do one of outside your preferred morality to get Moral Highground. I think it also covers who shows up in the leaving Praetoria mission depending on the choices you make. That doesn't affect anything badge-wise just if you want certain NPCs there on your send off.
Every other badge can be earned by anyone.
The Failed Experiments defeat badge is most easily done through one of the arcs but I can't remember which. They are in the underground, just not in large numbers though.
A dev said that they toned down the mobs a bit (it did seem a bit easier than I remember the first time I started a Praetorian) but still be ready for the more "exotic" damage types (energy, fire) and ranged and AoE to be more common than blueside and lots of ambushes. "Boom baby!". Some mob types are very hard to mez and those tend to hit very hard.
The event badges use a personal participation metric to get the badge and emote reward tier so don't drag in some 50s and sit in a corner.
If you team at all you'll likely need to level lock to finish a zone's arc. The solo missions make teaming a pain.
That's about all I can think of. The ones that can't be fixed are contact conflicts and Moral Highground.
Oh, First Ward and Night Ward assume you took the Warden path, regardless of what you did and the contacts don't "remember" your actions 1-20.
Also, you can go to Pocket D and do events there and you could queue for the Summer Block Buster, I didn't try the Halloween one, as a Praetorian but there's no Praetorian love for DfB or DiB. No task forces or trials either so no WSTs for a Praetorian that hasn't gone red or blue.
If I'm harping on the badges it's because my badger Praetorian went loyalist every choice and thus missed the resistance badge. Initally they said Praetoria would be added to Ouro. -
Zombie Man has a guide for getting all the contacts if that's your thing http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=235373 .
Power, Responsibility, and Warden are three sides of the same coin. Crusader is Project Mayhem with even less (as in no) scruples.
There's no Ouro for Praetoria, so if you care about badges be sure to make at least 5 morality choices (the one in the tutorial counts) and choose Resistance and Loyalist at least once. Avid Reader is the tutorial badge but you can apparently get that one from the iTrials now, not sure on that.
You'll get introduced to the next zone's contacts before you outlevel your current zone. Find Contact is your friend if you need to find an alignment's starting contact for your current zone when that happens. Find Contact is basically your best friend in Praetoria. Nova is good thru and including 10, Imperial 15, Nuetropolis 20. After those levels you've forever lost the chance to be able to do the final missions and thus make the morality choice for the contacts in those zones. Morality choice missions are solo player missions so you *HAVE* to have the mission to do it. -
I haven't fiddled with it much but the mac launcher has yet to actually launch the game no matter what combination of relaunch, reopen, force quits are used.
The absolutely reliable fix has been to boot to the windows partition and play there. -
Quote:If they purchased Staff a SR/Staff tanker would get the softcap and basically have no end problems with the capability to switch to another form when they team up with someone that buffs recovery.A Super Reflexes Tanker can hit the soft-cap pretty easily on just SOs as well, and Dark Melee has a self heal built into it's attack chain.
That combo could probably solo a few AVs on just SOs. It will be slow, but it should be possible.
My SR/Staff had me thinking that if I didn't have my IO license and I ever went premium they'd be one of the first characters I'd unlock.
