  1. Here's another idea (forgive me if this has ever been suggested):

When Hidden, increase the damage of a successful Assassin Strike by 200% or 300% *if it hits*. If it "misses", then apply the normal damage it would do from Hide and unhide me. So if I take the time to hide and then employ Assassin Strike I am going to either land an OMGKILL hit or a heavy hit - but not totally whiff.

I just find it hard to believe that my hidden Stalker, even at a low level, could not only completely miss its target but then stay hidden to try again later. In my mind, an Assassin Strike will always unhide me. If it misses it only means I missed my insta-kill chance but still deals out damage. If it hits, well, shouldn't it be as near to a kill shot as possible?

Just a thought. I have a couple of Stalkers (Nin/Nin and Kin/En) and enjoy playing them but I don't pull them out all that often.
  2. I think Im happy with this build. I've still managed to keep it somewhat affordable. I switched back to Soul Mastery (want to try out Leviathan but this simply isn't the build to do so) and I rethought the way I slotted Blinding Feint. The way I have it now it is slotted for recharge so it's up before both Attack Vitals and Sweep combos. And I threw in a 20% Knockdown bonus to help a wee bit with mitigation.

    Thoughts?

  3. I thought of something very similar just yesterday. However, since we have such an international audience, I would like to include common armed forces uniforms for American, German, English, French, Australian, Canadian, Korean, and other countries. It would be great if we could get a few for each. For instance, for American it would be great to get Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines (okay, and you too Coast Guard).

Maybe some updated rifles and pistols as well?

With the Backpack option with the Steampunk booster would it be too much to add packs and other equipment worn on the back?

And how about night vision goggles and other headgear?

Maybe a new emote would be standing at attention holding the respective country's flag? Or maybe another could be pulling a rifle and firing three staggered shots into the sky - you know, with 7 toons doing it in unison you could recreate a 21-gun salute.

My own idea for a power may seem a little overpowered compared the to OP's but I was thinking of something like the power like the Backup Radio. Or better yet, what about something like "Call Air Strike"? Maybe a tad overpowered but it would be sweet!
  4. Thank you Mental, Amy, and Local for the super fast responses (and gratz Local). I'm logging in to slot PA and work on Reactive right now!
  5. Gonna bump to see of I can get some love.

I'm already questioning if I am slotting High Pain Tolerance and Rise to the Challenge properly. As I mentioned, this will be my first level 50 melee toon and I am somewhat new to using Mids.

    Thanks!
  6. Before I type anything else, I have to give kudos to Local_Man for not only a stellar guide but also being so active and helpful in the forums. I dinged my Ill/Rad 'troller, Scare Crow King, at 50 a few weeks ago and have been molding him into a perma-PA death machine since then. Two quick questions for anyone who may know.

First, does the DoT in Reactive for the Interface slot carry over to attacks by the PA and Phanty? I'm having trouble deciding which one to choose and think that knowing the answer to this may help me choose.

Secondly, does anyone have any idea if throwing a Soulbound Allegiance: Chance for Build Up in PA would be worth? A friend and veteran player who somewhat helped me fund my endeavor threw it my way last night and I don't want it to go to waste.

    Thanks!
  7. During the recent Praetorian surge on Freedom I wanted to be counted as one of the 4000+ concurrent players so I rolled a quick toon and hopped in the action. During the fight I managed to rack up around 14 SOs ranging from level 2 to 7. Not surprisingly the market does not have any history for something like this.

Are they worth anything to anyone?
  8. I have a level 48 DB/WP Brute that is closing in on 50. Once my toons hit 50 I give them a hard critique and really start tweaking their build. I've normally had a guide or two and great forum feedback to help me craft those builds but there isn't much love out there for the DB/WP Brute. So I've thrown this together and wanted to offer it up for critique.

This build isn't as specialized as it probably could be. I'm going for regen, defense, and resist while trying to keep the enhancements within a reasonable budget (setting up a recent level 50 Ill/Rad 'troller for Perma-PA zapped my funds). This is my first melee-based toon to reach 50 so any advice is welcome.

    Thanks!

    PA Question...

Check out Local_Man's guide. Local_Man is *the* authority on Ill/* in my humble opinion. I often refer to his Ill/Rad guide and just dinged 50 on my own Ill/Rad after running a LGTF this weekend.
  10. My first toon and main is an Energy/Devices. He is very dear to me but I have learned lessons along the way with him (see My main is uninspiring (Energy/Devices) - what would you do?). The two greatest things I've learned is that nobody but the solo'er likes Knockback and that the Devices secondary sucks.

I'm not trying to talk you out of trying it out. Sometimes I try out a power after reading in the forums how hard it is to play - just to try it out (/Poison, I'm looking your way!). It just might be overkill to give it to both of them. I highly recommend using Devices on any toon you wish to solo. But Devices is a little lame on the "oomph" and doesn't offer as much benefit as the other secondaries.
  11. I've heard rumors that I can make my nuke crashless with the Ageless Destiny slot. I've even fired a nuke on a Lambda and my End. bar didn't even flinch. How is this possible? I've worked up to Ageless Partial Core Invocation but don't have the knack of it. What am I doing wrong? Or is this just a rumor?
  12. Ob1Shinobi

    ok listen...

I run Hami every chance I get with Wulf and the gang. I'm not a TA member. I've always been met with encouragement from all TA members. We ran Hami in the old days ("old days" meaning months ago) in around 40 minutes. We clocked it in at 12 minutes the other night. I can't imagine anyone but Wulf, or any other TA member, coordinating that many toons in such an efficient manner - regardless of the task at hand.

I'm not trying a pick a fight. I just found a certain previous post to be rather caustic and simply untrue.
  13. Thanks for all the input so far, everybody. This has turned something I have been dreading into something that is quite invigorating. Here is my plan so far for (nothing is set in stone - this is what I'm considering):

    Agent Hotspur (Energy/Devices)
    1. Buy a rename token and go with "Ex-Agent Hotspur" or "Rogue Hotspur" or something else because...
    2. Plan on taking him red side. Did he turn bad? Is he going deep undercover? Who knows?
    3. I've already created an "aged" version of his costume - grizzled face, beard, graying hair, eye patch. Once I make the name change I'll apply the new costume.

    Agent Hotspur (the new one)
    1. I *think* I want to try out another Corruptor (already have a Rad/Rad). The new one, whether it is Hotspur's son or sidekick, would have access to the original's "toys" - so that means Traps (which I've never tried). I haven't tried Fire Blast either so I think I'm going with a Fire/Traps.
    2. I'll probably start him as a Praetorian. How he got there? Was he whisked away by his mother to be raised gold side? Is he a clone? Is he the product of some plan by Cole's administration? Time will tell...

One last thing I have come to realize is that I am trying to do too much with a general build for the Energy/Devices Hotspur. I am going to create two builds - one for solo and one for team play. I have 900 million inf... I can afford another build.

I'm psyched about everything. What do ya'll think?
  14. He's my namesake and any character that I recreate in his image (obviously not Energy/Devices) would need to have his name. I'm not a huge role-player but back-story and character fun out-weighs maximizing a build (plus I don't have the inf for it). So here's an idea.

His name is Agent Hotspur. How about I purchase a rename token and don him "Ex-Agent Hotspur"? Then I'll create a new Blaster and name him Agent Hotspur. Maybe the Ex has retired. Maybe he'll make the move to red side. Either way, I can "hang him up" of sorts and focus on building the new Agent Hotspur.

The new Agent Hotspur could maybe be his son. Or maybe his clone. Or could maybe just be the next guy to wear the orange and white tights.

Any suggestions on power combinations? I already have AR/Devices, DP/Mental, Ice/Ice, and Elec/Elec. I'm thinking maybe Fire/Energy. Anybody want to throw their power opinion out?

Sound like a plan? Sounds like I'm crazy?

You're right. Deletion really isn't an option. I mean, I used to think that 50 was when I didn't have to worry about my toons any longer. But maybe it's the time when retooling and retweaking really begin.

And things aren't as bad as they used to be. Toggles don't drop. I still get to fire off my two Tier 1 powers when mezzed.

I'm going to load up your build in Mids and see if it provides a little inspiration.
  16. My main, created nearly 3 years ago and my first 50, is simply no fun to play. He is an Energy/Devices Blaster that was a blast (ugh, puns) to play back when I had no friends and just soloed all the time. But now the KB is annoying to teammates and no one wants to wait around for mines to be laid. I don't really feel any symmetry between the two power sets. All I do with him is break him out once a week for a Hamidon run on Guardian. I was a bit energized (ugh, pun again) with the Incarnate slot but that's worn off.

I almost get sick to my stomach when I think about deleting him. I want to make him work. I've respec'ed and freespec'ed and burned Vet respecs. I went from Munitions Mastery to Electrical Mastery to Force Mastery to Flame Mastery (for the record, Force was my favorite). I have plenty of alts (one other 50, an MM) so I have plenty to do but he'll always be my "first".

So what would you do if you were in my shoes? Respec him? Retire him? Delete him? Redo him? Stop whining and go play?

    Any energy/dev super-builds out there?
  17. Can't access my Gold characters. Can't access nearly any of my Blue side toons. My Red side toons seem mostly accessible. Toons that are rogue/vigilantes are inaccessible. Toons that started Gold and are now Blue are also inaccessible. Lastly, I think toons that have the new auras aren't playable.

I see a nice little Upgrade to Going Rogue icon in the lower right. But I've already done that. Been a player for 2 1/2 years. Have every booster but the Party pack (although after seeing the Michael Jackson dance emote I am considering it).

Maybe I'll log out and in again. Just wanted to drop a quick note that this may still be occurring.
  18. I'd love to join but my timing may be cutting it close. I have an indoor soccer game at 8:50PM EST. But if I can get in I'd love it... Dr. Obliteron, Bots/FF Mastermind. At the very least, consider me an alternate.
  19. Oddly enough, across all my toons, I only have one /Dark Miasma and not a single Dark Blast. I wouldn't mind slapping it in Fearsome Stare for that toon.

Are there other powers in other sets that could benefit from this proc?
  20. I picked up Cloud Senses: Chance for Negative Energy Damage at WW's and don't know where to slot it. I've been globally emailing it to different toons but can't pull the trigger and place it. I have ATs across the board and don't mind where it goes - just want to be smart about where I put it.

Is there a consensus on the ideal power to slot this proc?
  21. Elec/Elec/Elec may be the way to go. I still have to run some numbers in Mids but I like hearing the support for Electrical Mastery.

Another question for those who took Electricity Manipulation. What do ya'll think of Thunder Strike? Leading up to level 27 I couldn't wait to get it. But now after having it a few levels, I feel as though the animation takes way too much time and I'm not too keen on the knockback. I know that it packs a punch (pun intended) but I'm thinking of dropping it from my attack chain.

    Is that just crazy talk?

All the other respective Hero/Villain epics provide some sort of Resistance based shield.

Do a search for guides that explain Defense and Resistance so that you have a clearer understanding. Most people try to make build that either soft caps to defense (typically either Ranged or S/L) or make a build that involves layering the two (so that you have some Defense on top of some Resistance) for better survivability.
Indeed you are right. And actually I misspoke. I've been staring at the wikis so long today that it is all muddling together. I do understand the difference and have in the past put more emphasis on Defense over Resistance - especially for the squishier toons.

Thankfully, the Short Circuit + Power Sink combo is completely sapping whole groups at a time. I'm not depending on the defense and resistance at this point but it's there "in case" (and it's very welcome) - especially since no Endurance = no attacking.

Cold Mastery is interesting. Thematically I could go with a Rime of the Ancient Robotic Mariner idea. I'll have to run a few things through Mids to see what is more appealing.

If I did want to go PPP, could I pick it up as a Vigilante or would I have to go full Villain?
  23. First off, am I the only fool that still tries to play the role of Blapper? Solo, it's a bit of a crap shoot (in a mostly fun way) and very challenging. Teamed, as long as I have a Tanker to hold aggro, I am a beast... if not a minor annoyance for the Defenders (thank you all for your efforts in keeping my alive).

The "Electricity^3: The Guide to Blaptrolling in I8" guide from Mystic_Amethyst was very helpful in setting my toon up but I'm wondering how pertinent the information in it is these days (11 issues later).

Long John Electron (he be a robotic pirate - yeaarrgh!) dinged 35 this morning and picked up Power Sink. As the APP/PPPs approach I am wondering which would be best. I toyed with the idea of going Leviathan for thematic sake but then figured it will be between Force Mastery or Electrical Mastery.

Force will offer two panic buttons in PFF and Force of Nature along with S/L Defense shield. Electrical will offer a panic button, a third hold, an S/L/E Defense shield, and possibly a cone or PBAoE attack (I'm not sold on either yet).

    Thoughts? Opinions? Snide remarks?

I have power choice questions but will wait to see if this thread picks up any momentum. I can also post of build if we'd like to pick him apart.

    Why Provoke?

Bodyguard mode splits all incoming damage between you and your pets, the equivalent of having a boatload of damage resistance so long as you have all of your pets out. While you're busy taunting and soaking damage, your pets are busy shooting things to death and soaking damage.

To be in bodyguard mode, your pets must be on Goto/Defensive or Follow/Defensive.
    This.

It is the reason why you would/should take Provoke in the first place. Without BG you will be faceplanting much more.

    Right, didn't notice that.

I am actually surprised by the support for Repair. I was unhappy with it ages ago when I had it. And the guides seem to pan it pretty harshly. I may have to try it out again (always looking for a reason to tweak my build).
