Wait...
I know there's a tag that's [Ignores Enhancements and Buffs], all recharge debuffs have this. And apparently there's a tag that's just [Ignores buffs], since the Defense/resist powers that Power Boost doesn't work on have it.
Why couldn't they just apply the [Ignores buffs] tag to the resistance part of the power (leaving the defense portion buffable) instead of the WHOLE power? -
I could see her ending up as another Primal Vanessa DeVore where even freed from the influence of Shalice, Aurora has become so corrupted by her influence that she chooses to continue on the same path.
That way even if you succeed in destroying/removing Tilman, Mother lives on. -
Quote:The solo/small team bonus basically brings Defender damage up to par with Corruptors minus Scourge (assuming SO build).WOAH!
WOAH, WOAH, WOAH!
A damage bonus in Vigilance? I was NOT here for that. I am tickled pink by that! I love that so much. Now I can maybe feel like I'm not simply left in the dust by my Corruptor.
I've got a Rad/Dark Corr and a Dark/Rad Defender. Both have been at lvl 50 for years, and I basically stopped playing my Defender once my Corr got up there. This might make me feel better about that now.
Figure 1ds is base 55.61damage(or is it 55.62? I can never remember).
Corruptor: 0.75*55.61=41.71damage
Enhanced: 41.71*1.95=81.33damage
Defender: 0.65*55.61=36.15damage
Enhanced: 36.15*1.95=70.49damage
30% Vigilance: 36.15*2.25=81.34damage -
Yeah, I don't frankly understand why it has what seems like such an arbitrary restriction either.
I mean, it still works on Forcefield>Deflection Shield doesn't it*? That has sizable Toxic resist, why should providing some other type of resistance render it ineligible for the benefit?
(*Not a rhetorical question, I'm really not sure if it does cause my bubbler hasn't had Power Mastery in years.) -
No changes to the sets I can think of for Defenders, the Dark Miasma change (Twilight Grasp) was only for Masterminds, which had a different version of the power with a much smaller radius.
As far as the Archetype goes though, they added a damage bonus to Vigilance recently to help soloists (in case you weren't here for that).
It starts off pretty small at low levels then ramps up to 30% at level 20 and above. You lose 10% of that bonus per teammate, so your bonus goes away entirely on a team of 4 or more players.
You'd really think I'd have tested this first hand, given that my namesake character is a bubbler, but I havent. I believe though, that they're Ally Targeted AoEs now, not PBAoEs. Important to note, they still don't buff you. -
Just got a new pup recently, and while I'm not sure what AT she'd be, one of her powersets is definitely Poison... she's got some seriously [Noxious Gas].
-
Quote:Oh don't get me wrong, it's not a great power and has the worst DPA of any of the Radiation AoEs, but that has more to do with it's poor damage than it's activation. It just feels long to me...and I play a few AR toons. To each their own but I dropped it...mind you I had it on a blaster so on a Corr or Defender it would be not much of an issue if you really like the power.
I don't blame people for skipping it (though I really don't like cones or Knockback very much, so I always pick NBomb over Electron Haze as my 2nd AoE).
I guess it's just a pet peeve of mine. -
Quote:I do recall there being discussion of making clicky mez protections usable when mezzed, but so far we've yet to see anything come of that. No, you cannot. You must use it BEFORE getting mezzed. Same with all mez protects clickies, and godmodes that offer mez protection.
Aside from Clarion, Kheldian Dwarf form is usable while mezzed too. -
Quote:Ya know, people keep saying that, but it's not really true. For all of you asking questions about combos that go well with Time I would gravitate toward a more PBAOE or AOE set Since time is Very in your face, my favorites so far are Fire/Time(The mobs melt like friggin budda! y'all!), Elec/Time(Believe it or not it works!) and Ice/Time(I haven't rolled one yet but I do have a Ice/Dark so yah!).
Rad would work well but I would avoid Neutron Bomb...that animation is so long and Time needs a lot of attention.
Dark is so cone heavy and unless you like running back and forth for ultimate cone round up I would say a big no.
Dual Pistols would be ok. (with a lot of Recharge)
Every single source I can find says that Neutron Bomb's animation is a positively speedy 1.67s seconds long. While it may look just like that 3+second long animation from Repulsion Bomb/Bonfire it's not. It may still be kind of slow in actually dealing damage because the "bomb" has a travel time to your target, but it's not because of animation time. -
Quote:I have honestly no idea. I... don't think so. It's not like it could be exploited to farm the badges, given the extreme recharge on all the HP crashing powers.Weird. Do you get damage taken or damage dealt credit towards badges for this? I just ask out of curiosity.
Does anyone know if the self damage from Absorb Pain, or Energy Transfer counts for either badge? If those do, then I don't see why these wouldn't. -
Quote:Honestly on my warshade there were literally NO powers I wanted to get at level 41and up. So yes, I'd have had plenty of room in my build for them (granted this was pre-Inventions, so I wasn't picking powers to use a set mules). So you've got power choices and enhancement slots to spare? I wish I did...
Its not a bad idea, but we just don't have the power choices or the slots to handle it unfortunately. Ive got maybe, 2 power's worth of wiggle room in my build, and no slot wiggle room at all. All that talk in the beta forums of an extra three slots had me seeing double rainbows, let me tell you...but thats not happening...
I think part of the problem is we HAVE to slot our form powers. Did you know at one point in time the form powers were intended to be unslottable? They'd have their enhancement bonuses baked right in from the start. Which is both a good thing and a bad thing. They decided the lack of choice outweighed the good of not being slot starved so now we have to juggle our same base number of slots as everyone else with our Nine or so powers we get above and beyond everyone else.
I really think an APP or something like that wouldnt be horrible, something to "focus" the kheld and provide a greater boost while in one particular form...but at the same time I just don't have the wiggle room in my build for it. If it was one choice for a small pile of powers that didn't require slotting then that might make it a little more agreeable, but I just dont have that many powers I can drop, and I definitely dont have any slots I can spare.
Really the idea is to let people specialize as one of their forms, not to let them enhance the forms in addition to their current builds. So you would build specifically to include those powers and the slots they need, not try to just shoehorn them into an existing build.
I've always thought that Kheldian Human powers should have filled completely different roles than their forms. Support for Human PBs and Control for Human Shades. So that each of the 3 forms were really unique from each other. (Obviously it's years too late for that to happen.) -
Quote:I think Captain America is part of the reason they wouldn't want a real Athlete looking guy for Hawkeye, cause Cap is supposed to be a super soldier, so you can't have some random Joe with a bow be as buff as him.Whoa whoa whoa...was just my minds eye impression
Gritty wasnt really the concept I was getting at...for me, Renner simply looks more like the average guy Id bump into at the local pub. Again for me (thats the qualifier lol), he doesn't fit how I would imagine a world class athlete to look. I mean I don't work out much and am built like Renner, but I know Im also in nowhere near peak physical conditioning by any stretch.
Not everyone can look like the guy playing Cap America/Johnny Storm, but we do need variety I suppose and if he can act the part, Im sold. -
Quote:What that does is reset you to full HP, then drop you to 50%. It's a way to make it have a 50% hitpoint crash without killing you (if you have less than 50% hitpoints when it crashes). (Yes this means that if for example you only have 30% hitpoints left when it crashes, the crash will actually "heal" you by 20%.)Currently on beta its indeed 300sec (5 minutes) and 90sec (1m30) duration. Also some extra bonus wich i havent figured out, -50% dmg after 1m30 and +100% dmg after 1m30.
All HP crash powers (Unstoppable, etc) function like this... they just normally drop you to much lower HP. -
Prettymuch agree with Redlynne... and a note:
Quote:Post i21 Lightform CAN be made perma.5. Also for PB since lightform can now be made perma, aside from pool powers available while transformed (hence access to HASTEN), the lightform power should also be made available while transformed, thus removing the need/risk to revert to human form to reactivate lightform. For WS make eclipse available when transformed.
Something I'd kind of like to see for Khelds is for them to get 2 Archetype specific APPs, one with powers only usable in Nova form, and one with powers only usable in Dwarf form. So that those players who want to flesh out one form or the other can do so. This also could help solve the problem of Perma-Lightform Human PBs making White Dwarf kind of obsolete.
Nova form could get a tier3 blast, a couple soft/single target controls and a utility power or two.
Dwarf form could get say, a high damage melee attack, a bit more survivability, a taunt aura type power and a bit of utility. -

I'll give it a go (and also mention that technically "bumping" is against the forum rules).
Power by power:
Quote:First thing that strikes me is that Sonic and Immobilizes just doesn't fit in my brain. I'd think a Sonic control set would more closely resemble Mind Control, substituting Sleeps for the Single and AoE "Snares."1. Sonic Snare- you aim concentrated sound waves at your targets feet, causing their legs to be unresponsive and lock up for a short time, also reducing the opponents resistence: Ranged, Moderate DoT(Smash/Energy), Foe Immobilize, -Res(All), -Fly
Quote:2. Sonic Seize- You aim concentrated sound waves at an oppnents entire body, causing their senses to be overloaded and the seize up, also reducing the opponents resistence: Ranged, Moderate DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe Hold, -Res(All)
Quote:3. Sonic Snares- You let out a wave of sound that washes over the opponents feet, causing them to become unresponsive and reducing their resistence: Ranged (Targeted AoE), Minor DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe Immobilize, -Res(All), -Fly
Quote:4. Deafening Shreick- You let out a frequency so high pitched, you blow the eardums of all foes around you and they become disoriented for a while: PBAoE, Minor DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe Stun
Quote:5. Disruption Aura- Your body emits sound waves that weaken the resistence of the foes around you, then bounce back to shield you: Toggle: PBAoE, Foe -Res(all), Self +res
I'm not a fan of the name being Sooo close to Disruption Field though, even if it's obviously the inspiration for it. I'd probably change the name to something like Reverberating Aura.
Quote:6. Shriek-By bursting forth with this hypersonic Screech, you can Disorient a target: Ranged, moderate-heavy DMG(Smash/Energy), Foe Disorient, -Res(All)
Quote:7. Seizing Wail- You let out a special frequency that causes foes bodies around you to lock up: PBAoE, Foe Hold
Quote:8. Dispersion Field- You cause the ground to vibrate, causing foes to be knocked down occasionally, while also keeping your teammates more aware and reducing foes resistence: Ranged (Location AoE), Knockdown, -Res(all), Team: Mez protect
Quote:9. Vibrant Essence- You create a sentient being made of sound to help fight your enemies.( would be a blaster/buffer pet)
-Sonic blast
-Scream
-Howl
-Sonic Dispersion(with Disruption field Fx)
-Inherent res(20-30% to all?or smash/energy) and inherent mez(almost never mezed)
Other:
It seems like a Confuse power would be fitting a sonic set. Kind of a classic hearing-voices-making-the-guy-paranoid type effect. -
Quote:Carnival Master Illusionists can be problematic too (more so if you get a spawn with 2 in it) once they summon their pets you've got 6 NPCs all with Holds stacking against you (The Master, her 4 Illusionists and her Dark Servant).Since green inkmen do stun in all their attacks, if you are hit by a lot of them its one of the few ways to get stunned through your mezz protection toggle. I have had large groups if high level longbow stun me as well as they have a lot of stunning attacks and a lot of malta can also be dangerous - while they don't have as many stun attacks as LB or Ink men they have some very long lasting ones (like - 1 minute) so they can stck up over multiple groups of malta.
The only two times I've ever been mezzed on a character while running a mez shield are once with my WP Tanker against 2 Master Illusionists, and once on my Warshade (Dwarf form, which actually has better mez protection than Melee ATs (outside tier9s)) against Inkmen.
It can be an unpleasant surprise. -
Quote:A fire blaster also isn't toggle dependant, like numerous support sets are, and have pseudo-mez protection built into their lower tier attacks.Nonsense, that is what teammates are for! There are lots of powers that can make you forget about mez. You can also fix that problem with destiny clairon.
My fire/fire/fire blaster lives in melee. On a bad team I have to hold back and stick with ranged stuff. On teams with some good buffers, (FF, cold and sonic) OMG! I can just blast away in melee range with all my goodies and do lots of damage. Amazing how much damage Blazing Aura, Hot feet, Burn, Rain of Fire, fire ball, Fire Sword Circle and Combustion do.
I like the idea of a melee/buff type character.
To solve the mez bit I'd suggest having mag4 Hold/Sleep/Disorient protection built into the Inherent, in a similar vein as the SoA passives provide just enough protection so that you're not being constantly detoggled, but not enough for it to help against high end mobs, or larger spawns of mezzing minions (which you should probably be facing with a team anyhow).
Also, defender level damage is way too low if they've only got Corruptor level support. Think about it, WHY would you play this instead of just playing a Corruptor? They have the same buffs/debuffs, but worse damage. The marginal resistance/defense of the inherent just wouldn't be enough of an incentive, particularly with IOs, where just about everyone has the capability of hitting the defense Softcap already.
If they're to remain limited to Corruptor/Controller level support, and not have the safety of staying at range like either of those ATs can, then I'd suggest damage closer to that of Dominators (0.95Ranged, 1.05Melee IIRC).
If you were to increase their support (say to a 0.9modifier, Controllers/Corruptors are 0.75) then their damage could remain lower, but it'd still need to be higher than defender damage mods, say 0.75ranged and 0.85melee.
I'd also suggest the secondary be a full on Melee set, not an Assault set. My reason being twofold, 1) I don't think Assault sets are really different enough from standard ranged sets for the AT to be distinct from Defenders/Corruptors, and 2) There are more options for Melee sets, where there's a fairly limited number of Assault sets available. You could replace the Taunt power in the melee sets with the thematically appropriate Armor toggle (Dark Embrace for Dark Melee, Temporary Invulnerability for Super Strength, Frozen Armor for Ice Melee, etc.). -
No, the interrupt was removed from Devices>Gun Drone. Poison Trap's was just cut in half (down from 4s to 2s).
I don't believe there were any more changes to Poison Trap during the open/vip part of beta. -
Pretty sure it was mentioned a good while ago we'd get them... how long before we do is a whole other story though.
I could always be misremembering though. -
Direct from the I21 patch notes:
Quote:Poison Trap: Reduced this power's interrupt time from 4 to 2 seconds. This power now deals minor damage over time, will hold foes instead of put them to sleep and will reduce the affected targets' recovery while they're within the poison gas. This power now accepts Interrupt enhancements, Hold enhancements and IO Sets and Damage enhancements and Melee AoE IO Sets and can no longer accept sleep enhancements and IO sets. -
Ok, I would absolutely kill to have this headgear*, but I just know it's going to be a female only option when we finally get the CoL costume parts.
*The spiked crownlike part, not the mask, though I doubt there's going to be male versions of those either. -

Quote:I'm scared too...It's almost a little scary to think Gun Drone might be buffed to the point of usefulness.
