That has always been the sticking point and its a tough spot to get past. Once into your 40's it goes fast to 50.
Trust me when I say this...Im not a fan of farms. But I am seriouly starting to miss them now that the weekly TF are happening.

It's like when you hit 32-35....you tend to crawl.
  2. When you are a new player, you feel shut down by the market. I don't know about griefing, but when you are new, there is really no point to show up at the market house.

    Unless you get really lucky.

Other than that, as a returning, new, sort-of player who's account was long gone, my new account seems dismal when it comes to funding. The market is a tuff nut to crack.
  3. I do. I really want those.

I mean. Swan gets a cool cape. Battle Maiden gets a Spear/Halbard

Swans cape is awesome...and swan-like. I want it.

    Please?

How about introducing...instead of the animal pack.

The Swan Cape Pack. Where you get her cape...and...well, thats it.

It can be for 3 dollars.

I am currently giving this a go. Don't get me wrong, it seems I love most AT's up until about 35. For some reason thats sort of when Im like...eh.

But truthfully I made batch of things to try different concepts.

I am enjoying the Warshade at the moment after the suggestion was made that I give them another shot. I am aslo enjoying my Shield and Sword Scrapper. Shes interesting. I like her and her story.

But I figured out my main issue. It seems it's endurance. I know? Wierd eh. But it seems that the less downtime I have the more I don't hate a character, however, that being said, all of my coolest creations all suck endurance like it's a ferret on pixy sticks.

So far My Widow, my Elec/Storm Corr and my Emp Defender don't seem to have these issues and game mechanics lead me to play them more, although, with the exception of my Widow, the others seem less facinating.

But being one part Rper and one part Hardcore Gamer, my issue actually stems from finding something that works effectively and that I can give a soul too.

So it's not just a matter of sets per say, its a matter of finding something that has lasting appeal, that eventually I can make into my comic book dream character.

I even went through my fave Characters from the Comix to inspire myself.

I love Spiderwoman (Both the original and the one now called Arachne), Psylocke, Zatanna, Dazzler (Old School Daz) and The Scarlet Witch. So Im trying to not copy, but those are definately my influences growing up with strong female characters, who kicked some butt, but had very interesting stories.

Other than continually starting from scratch (I hate starting at level 1 ), I don't really see any problem with what you're doing.

That said...how about making new characters in batches? You have the server slots, make 10 new characters at a time (or more!). You might find that you are continually drawn to play 1 or 2 more than the others, keep those, delete the rest, and make another batch. Survival of the fittest .
It's not that I find this a problem, other than I really enjoy Srike Forces and things on those levels. It's like I want to find something that will remain enjoyable so that I can participate and enjoy the game. Heck, Id even like to incarnate something, but I haven't quite figured out something I can even get that far.

    I guess thats my dilema

The great thing about this game is getting 12 slots on each server for free. Altitus is a manageable disease, good luck. :P

Personally I find Brutes to be the most fun, never could get into Khelds. I've gotten every AT to 50 except Khelds......

Ill make that effor. Funny though, I was thinking just a second ago why I leveled my Defender up. I don't think I enjoyed her really, but I did really like her boots.

I delete them for their money LOL...

When I find something I think will be shiny and nicer!

Horrible trait of mine I know.

But thanks for the advice. I should really stop the deleting process. I keep the costumes in the Database as sort of a personal grave yard it seems.

Maybe Ill dust her off. I mean she is interesting to play, and your guide was usefull. I looked at it a long time ago when I got back.

It's like, I love the complete insanity that is a blaster, and I love the combination of melee and attacks they have, but for some reason, I just fall a little short. I had one up to 45, and while she was fun, as soon as the AOE mez spam happens, I seem to lose sight of why I chose the class.

Once I've had my fun playing with my army of alts I'll dust him off a week or month or several months later and remember why I liked him enough to get him to the 30-35 range. And he'll shine again.

I'm going through this right now. A full year ago I created an Ill/TA troller and enjoyed the ride to lvl 35, got Oil Slick Arrow, which is the holy grail of Trick Arrow and....I parked him. Untouched for almost a year. I took him for a spin about 2 weeks ago and fell in love again. He's 46, about to ding 47 and I have been loving every minute. I've been enjoying him so much that I started tricking him out with set IOs. Looking to scrape every last bit of recharge. I know it's not alot by the forum standards, but I have around 35% global recharge bonus without hasten. And I'm about to add a LoTG 7.5% as soon as I hit 47. 100%+ global recharge is a major achievement for me.

My advice is to play a toon while you enjoy them, and don't force yourself to play them when you don't. That will only burn you out. Don't delete. Revisit them after a while.

My question to you is this...What toon did you enjoy leveling up the most?
When I played years ago, and then left when the AE came in, I loved Doms. Playstyle has changed, and I did like leveling my Widow.

I did really enjoy leveling my Defender because teaming was available often, but then I realized that playing a healer is really not so much fun when you hit 50.

I level toons who I feel I have some sort of connection with. Right now it's my Widow who I enjoy, but then...fizzle. Even though she is fun, and I like her, it just fizzled out. I feel like there is a leveling block at about 34-36 where I just can't make the hurtle.

Im trying to get on board with my War Shade...but she sits at 19. I was having an issue getting into her RP style and the playstyle of the War Shade.
  11. Ok. I used to be a controller player. Then a Dom Player. Then I tried a defender who was fun until 45 and boring now.

I have tried the veats, a corrupter. I think the only class I have not players is a Brute/Tank, because I just don't like the idea of it. Not so much my style.

My problem is that I seem to either lose interest in something at 35, or in some cases 20.

I can't find an AT that is "me"

My friends list is packed and they want me to join them, but I sometimes just don't want to play anything I have, which is an issue because I delete pretty much everything and keep 4 key toons who I try and level, and even they will eventually get deleted. Except my 50 because she is my only one. And I don't like her at all. Not even enough to incarnate her or buy her cool recipies. (Emp/Psi/Power Mastry) and I only ever bring her out when the team is blaster heavy and they all get mezzed.

It's not that I don't enjoy the game. I love all of the story plots. I love the feel of the game and the costume creator and all of that jazz, but Im not falling in love with anything I play, and I as an RPer should be loving them. All are concept, and all of them have backstories and such.

Heck even my Widow who is fun...is now sort of slowing down.

    Im hitting a wall somewhere.

Am I the only one who feels like this? Or is there a point when the AT you thought you liked just disolved. And again this is not for lack of trying or altitis, it's more to do with the issue of not finding something that is both thematic, and fun for me.
  12. I have a few thoughts on this. Mainly because I have created, and deleted many toons, which I feel are not versatile at all. I like having things.

    Now Ill open with

    Anything Trick Arrow!

Yup...Trick Arrow. You always have something in place available to handle pretty much anything at any time, and you can take just about any set and it will fill the gaps. You might not have a heal, arguably you really should not need one if you do it right. Im not the best with the set, but the people who are make it seem effortless.

My Widow. Sure I do not use my Fortunata build at all, as I preffer the Night Widow, but I have not found anything that she can't do at the moment. She is a Hybrid of range and melee, but she brings a lot to the team.

If this is a question about soloability and versatility then none of my toons will ever be truely versatile, because Im sure they wont do what other sets can. The closest I have is my Electric/Storm Corrupter.

My Empathy/Psi/Power Mastry Defender can make a blaster into a tank and deals ok damage even though I have only slotted 5 attacks. (TK blast, Will Domination, Psionic Lance, and Total Focus) which I paired down because I focus on heals and buffs.

But truely my Illusion/FF was and I mean was my most versatile. Not so many debuffs, but she could tank and had an army of things fighting for her while in personal forcefield, and when not in PFF she had the fighting pool.

But alas I have deleted all but 4 toons

My Emp Defender who I hate, but because I love teaming shes my only 50 and it is because people like the healer/buffer

My Widow because I love playing her

My Elec/Storm Corr, because she is pretty

And my Warshade because it took me forever to unlock her and I can't give her up.

I have a scrapper at level 1 which Ill end up deleting but who I made because of the spring fling cuz I want those shoes and she is a greek theme.

Truely though, other than the widow, I can't find anything I find versatile enough to make me like them and anything I do enjoy will never truely be versatile enough to solo anything because I seem to like everything up until 32 and then I just lose interest.
  13. I abosuletly found that....happy
  14. Dark Blast is good. Trading in Damage for the ability to mitigate some damage is always good.

I personally enjoyed pairing it with Thermal, and Trick Arrow.

Trick arrow is a bag of tricks that never seems to run out of options. There is always something available. Dark, to my knowlege though will not ignite Oil Slick arrow, so take apprentice charm or an energy based Origen. But on the overall, Dark/TA can be beast. A little slow to start, but beast in the end.

Thermal. I liked this because I could heal, I could sustain myself soloing, and sometimes the to hit aspect of Kinetics or Dark Miasma's heal is just not reliable enough for me. Plus thermal has some very solid debuffs. I am not a fan of Anchors so Thermal (Although a little more micromanagy because you can shield people) is good for me. Again...a little slow to start but then solid.

What I want to know is if you are making a themed character. If you are then thematicaly certain sets would already be excluded. A demon for instance would benefit from the thermal set for theme and junk.

Oh I have tried this. Perhaps Im just not that good with her. I might need to Learn to play her more admittedly. But with my Widow...no knockback, and gosh darnit. People like that!
  16. Everyone loves my Empath/Psi defender (I don't, but they all do. Mainly because I play her solidly and I don't just buff tanks.)

I love FF. Love it! My Illusion/FF is great and when Im teaming I love FF players.

TA is good because there is always something a TA player can do.

For MMs...I love playing with poison players because the Debuffs are just that good.

Teaming with my Warshade makes me a sad panda. Mainly because I can't suppress the knock back, and I hate mentally picturing a Tank/Brute.Stalker/Scrapper sitting at their desks and fuming. You know when you knock something back and the scrapper just stands there for a minute. Just gazing and doing nothing. Thats when I picture them at home smashing their heads on the keyboard and then looking at you in your squiddy goodness form and thinking....I hate you...I really hate you!
  18. My Night Widow "Ethernet" is actually Human. (I know...sort of shocking ) But she was a computer hacker originally, and found that she came by it very easy. Her concept was that she was a precog. She could see mapping grids or plan against defenses almost before they occured. While she became very nimble and effective, she had always been Psychic (Magic being our Dual Origen) she developed some Psionic powers, but nothing of real note unless in Fortunata...where she wears a special amulet, which weakens her physical form but amplifies her Psionic potential.

Thats my concept which only developed after she completed the Midnighter quests and obtained the amulet from them.

I'm finding any group that has -def in their attack chain can make me lose what little life I have pretty quickly and so I'm having to make a lot of use of rest and/or just waiting on regen.

Also curious about end usage, so far I've been running fine with leaving sprint
Ok. Yes. You are not a Scrapper, or a Brute, nor a stalker. You are simply a Claws Scrapper, with Some Brute qualities. You essentially have a combination of Dark Armor and Super Reflexes added in.

    My tips.

NW's are toggle heavy. They are support and they are offensive. Unlike a Brute which is Offensive/Defensive.

We are better in my oppinion than stalkers. We have more going for us in the way of dodge and mez protection.

Keys tips from me are as follows for the NW.

    1) Melee or Hybrid range is excellent. Poison Dart should not be over looked, and I enjoy dart burst a lot. I also enjoy Psi Blast, mainly because Circle of thorns and other enemies are very resistant to Lethal, and most things that are resistant to lethal and toxic are weak against Psi, so I took it and do not regret it at all.

    2) Forsight. Max it. I have 2 Resist, 4 Defence SO's. It is your defense.

    3) Melee. Take them all if you can fit them in. Lung is the only one I am missing, but I will have it eventually.

    4) Smoke Bomb!!!!!!!!!! I can't say enough about this power. Since you are not a Tank/Scrapper/Brute, this is a solid debuff and allows for pulls and solid assisnations without getting beaten up.

    5) Widow Training. All of it is solid. But I love Training Offensive and Defensive, and Maneuvers. Sure Tactics for damage is awesome, but It's not as important as to + to Hit in my oppinion.

    6) Elude...which is not super important to have will help against -def mobs

    7) I don't run sprint and you will have end issues at around level 34ish depending on your build and the diffculty you play in. This is mitigated by slotting your powers with an extra end redux and putting in 4 Stamina

    8) I always open with smoke bomb. Always! And if it's up Mind link! It helps and you will be more resistant and defensive for a brief bit. Get it on a fast recharge.

Lastly when talking about playstyles. I am very mobile. My widow opens with smoke bomb, goes in with Swipe to assassinate, hits with my Spin, and then Evicerate to offer the AOE damage. I then leap backwords (Double jumping back while queing Dart Burst). I have one range slot in Dart Burst. This allows me to focus that cone so it hits many enemies all at once. Follow with a poison dart and a mental blast, and then storm back in because all of my melee are now back up.

Mobs to close together? Please...Smoke Bomb!

Vengeance while nice is not needed.

Teleport is my choice for movement, because you do not untealth in teleport and allows you to port into a blinded crowd for an AOE like spin. It also allows you to get into melee if the team is MM heavy.

Overall. The key things about the NW is that while some forgo their range, and I can sort of see why, I view this class as stalkerish. I like picking off runners or lethal resistant enemies with my psi power, however I will not be taking Psi Scream. You are not a tank that is for sure, but with Placate (Used sparingly because sometimes you will be the tank. Trust me) you have more control over who you are fighting.

Night Widows are assassins. They pick the battles they fight like a stalker should. But in my oppinion are much tankier than a stalker.

Overall melee or hybrid it's your call. But I would not trade my three range attacks for the world.
  20. Ill play with both. On my Emp, I can make a Stalker a Tank

On my Widow, Stalkers are fun to skulk with.

    Scrappers are just fine whenever.

But play what you like, most people can adapt to playstyles.

Just make sure if you are a stalker or scrapper, that you listen to the advice of your teamates before charging. Same goes with all AT's really, but if a tank charges Ill usually just follow suit

Those are my thoughts. But others would know more.

You do have to remember that I just returned to the game. I left for a long time, or what feels like a long time. About when the AE was first brought about.

I came back recently and although a controller/dom player at heart I never stuck around to 50 (Altitis) to get one. Now that I have one I'm impressed. I feel "Right out of the box" good.

My playstyle has changed though. But to me they combined what I liked about the Dom Assault set, which was a mix of melee and range, with debuffs and defense which I loved about Defender Primaries or controller/MM secondaries. That was not just aimed at Widow. I like that the widow has a strong element of the scrapper secondaries (Edited for clarification)
