I'll try to be there for EoE farming tonight. I might be a little late... 6PM ET, correct?
I look forward to seeing how the Blue Team works out.
Best of luck on your play, does "Break a leg" apply to directors? If not then I wish you the equivalent. -
Quote:Agreed I get Consume as soon as it's available.Fiery Aura is pretty nice for Consume, which you can get early on ... helps the stretch to Stamina quite a bit.
Quote:Adding in Healing Flames made it so I could drop most of my toggles while soloing early on.
Quote:KB is probably the most annoying thing for the set at those early levels, but not too much is doing it before Acrobatics levels, at least compared to higher level mobs.
I tend to get my Damage Auras early, and yeah they can be a drain. But I slot them for End Redux (3 slots) pretty heavily in the early levels, then use those slots later for Accuracy and Damage. So far it's worked well. -
Yeah, I thought the 30s were a bit close too. That's why I posted for the 35s+. I figured I've give everyone else the benefit of my mistakes...er...experience.

If no one has mentioned it yet, you might try hooking up with us at a Tanker Tuesday. TT's are a player run all Tanker teams event. We run missions, Task Forces and pretty much anything else the game has to offer. TT's are a great place to see different Tanker sets in action and ask questions (Not to mention, just the plain mayhemic fun of mob of Tanks demolishing the bad guys...).
The dates for TT are:
Champion Server (the Original TT) the 1st Tuesday of each month
and
Justice (TTJ) the 2nd Tuesday of each month (on the 9th this month with a Fire Tank theme)
In March TT will be reloading to servers we hit during the TT Tour. Here's the complete schedule for March TT's:
1st Tues Champion
2nd Tues Justice
3rd Tues Guardian
4th Tues Triumph
5th Tues Victory
Link to the thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com//showthread.php?t=207776
Have fun with your new Tank! Hope to see you at a TT! -
Two IO common Recharge Redux should do it, level 35+, I think I used two 40s on mine.
-
Welcome to Justice! (Roll a Tank and join us in King's Row on the 9th!)
-
No worries, we're glad to have you a long. We'll get back out to Freedom soon. I have a level 47 sitting out there so maybe in April we can run one there.

Quote:Sounds interesting and if a reflected portion of the attack was sent back at the attacker it could count as the aggro/damage aura as well.I recall one of the rednames saying that they deliberately restricted the color saturation for the ice armor colors so that it didn't start looking like gemstones.
I predict a new armor set, called either Gemstone or Crystal Armor, which will introduce a new combat mechanic involving reflecting a portion of the damage.
Sound interesting?
I'm still hoping for Radiation Armor and Melee. -
You may have still managed to...I just try to keep the cubs (squishies) in line and presentable (battle ready/alive).
-
Thanks for doing that guys, I forgot to mention that I'll make a post about two weeks out on the specific server forums.
-
I always though of my Tanks as more like this:
-
Or you might try a Fire or Electric/Stone Melee... I've found both Primaries to be very active and mobile sets while Stone Melee provides soft control in Fault and Tremor, with the satisfying "SMACK and SMASH" of the mallets.

Victory it is!
So the 5 Tanker Tuesdays of March will be:
1st Tues Champion
2nd Tues Justice
3rd Tues Guardian
4th Tues Triumph
5th Tues Victory
As with all TT's they will be at 6pm PT\9pm ET at IP Gate in King's Row, line up on the wall (except Justice where we just tend to mingle for some reason...).
If I could get the folks that requested the TT's to broadcast on their home server's channels a week and day or two before the event, it would really help the turn out. Or, if you can get me the channels I can help with it.
Sailboat can you cover the channels for Guardian?
PapaSlade can you cover the channels for Triumph?
Grey and LSK can you guys cover the channels for Victory?
Thanks all, see ya' soon on a server near you!! -
Hi GP, I missed the post on Champion when I first looked as well. Here's the link http://boards.cityofheroes.com//showthread.php?t=207697 and we'll see you there tonight!
PapaSlade, you got it, 4th TT in March will be on Triumph!
One more to go! So far
1st Tues Champion
2nd Tues Justice
3rd Tues Guardian
4th Tues Triumph
5th Tues Open atm
As with all TT's they will be at 6pm PT\9pm ET at IP Gate in King's Row, line up on the wall.
-
Guardian it is then on the 3rd Tuesday. Same Tank Time, same Tank place.
-
Hi all,
March has five Tuesdays!! Who's up for another 5 TT's in one month? We have two already covered with Champion and Justice, so where do you want to go for the other three?
Also, don't forget:
TT Champion tomorrow, Feb 2nd.
TT Justice on the 9th, Fire Tank theme, If you don't have one, no biggie, bring any Tank you have!
See ya' all there, there and there! -
Katie respawning 10 times sounds like enough "Ground Hog Daying" for me, and I don't think I've run that TF with an all Tank team, so I'm up for it! See ya' al there!

Just saw your thread and right off the top of my head:
I agree with what Finduilas has said.
It doesn't look like you've slotted for Endurance management. If you're looking to maintain End w/o using EA as much, then definitely change you're slotting combos. Try using a couple of Gift of the Ancients (2%) in your Defenses and a couple of Impervium Armor in your Resists (2.5%). I imagine what you're experience is the "Hasten Crash" on top of your AoE's bleeding out your Endurance. Obliteration is a great set for Damage and Recharge, just not so hot for Endurance management.
I don't recall the slotting I use on my Ice/Fire, but I use EA liberally during fights. In fact I either open with it or FSC. Which ever I didn't use first I use second, so it figures heavily into my attack chain. EA is a great power in that it not only replenishes your End but saps the End from your enemies which prevents them from attacking as frequently. -
Nine days until TTJ and the Winter Meltdown. There's still time to roll that new Fire Tank if you don't already have one! We'll see you on the 9th!
Also, TT on Champion in Two days, Feb 2nd, same Tank Place, same Tank Time! See ya' all there! -
Just for the heck of it, what Primary are you considering?
-
I was thinking about moving Electric/Fire, but he leveled too darn fast...maybe I'll take my Electric/Dark over for a spin... or might just have to roll up a new one. I would like to try either a Brute or Stalker Hero side though, so we'll have to see. Hopefully my altitis won't obliterate the few remaining slots I have on Justice...

Quote:Ice Patch will "work" but it's effect diminishes the higher the level of goons you're fighting. Level 54 mobs will be less affected than white conning ones, the Lt's will be less affected than the mobs, and the Bosses less affected than the Lt's. If you're using Burn (from Fiery Aura) it will hasten their departure from the Ice Patch even more.Been digging into level 54 enemies lately. I am considering building an Ice Melee tank for the soft control powers like Ice Patch.
Has anyone had any experience using Ice Patch against level 54 enemies ? Min's, Lt's, and Bosses ? Far in the past I remember an Ice Patch didnt do much if anything against higher lvl baddies. So I'm wondering what the state of it is now ? How effective is it ? Can I lock a group down etc ?
Thank you
If you're looking for soft control you might look at Stone Melee (KD), Battle Axe (KD) and possibly War Mace (Disorient, Stun (?)) (Maybe Electric Melee as well, I know it has KD, but haven't played it high enough yet to experience it personally) as all of these can be slotted for Accuracy and enhanced by IO Set Bonuses (to offset the level difference between you and the goons). But as far as "locking a group" (if being used as a comparison as to how Controllers "lock" something), no, in my experience it's not the same (especially at the level you will be fighting at). I've found the other Power Sets mentioned to be more effective at soft controlling goons.
Freezing Touch will effect Bosses if you can stack it with another hold from an Ancillary Set. I used to use Block of Ice from Arctic Mastery in conjunction with FT. But, I found getting the two to recharge in sync or close to it difficult, so I switched to Energy Mastery for more Knockdown, which I found meshes nicely with Ice Patch. -
Yes, although we're running a themed event all Tanks are always welcome regardless of Power Sets and levels. Depending on turn out I imagine we'll probably have a mixed team or two.

It sounds like you have a great name and concept going for your toon. I'm sure you'll have fun leveling it. From what I've seen in the discussions here on the boards IM is one of those sets you either love it or are trying to love (I'm afraid I fall into the second category), lol!
I do however have several IM toons and even ran one of my Fire/Icers at the last TT on Champion, so it's not all bad. Level yours up so you can tell me how to improve mine!
See ya' at TTJ!
