Does Ice Patch Work Against Lvl 54 Enemies ?
I know that Ice Slick works on any level enemies, even if you are level 30 and they are level 54 (other than enemies with knockback protection). I assume Ice Patch would be similar.
Yes, it does work.

Been digging into level 54 enemies lately. I am considering building an Ice Melee tank for the soft control powers like Ice Patch.
Has anyone had any experience using Ice Patch against level 54 enemies ? Min's, Lt's, and Bosses ? Far in the past I remember an Ice Patch didnt do much if anything against higher lvl baddies. So I'm wondering what the state of it is now ? How effective is it ? Can I lock a group down etc ? Thank you |
If you're looking for soft control you might look at Stone Melee (KD), Battle Axe (KD) and possibly War Mace (Disorient, Stun (?)) (Maybe Electric Melee as well, I know it has KD, but haven't played it high enough yet to experience it personally) as all of these can be slotted for Accuracy and enhanced by IO Set Bonuses (to offset the level difference between you and the goons). But as far as "locking a group" (if being used as a comparison as to how Controllers "lock" something), no, in my experience it's not the same (especially at the level you will be fighting at). I've found the other Power Sets mentioned to be more effective at soft controlling goons.
Freezing Touch will effect Bosses if you can stack it with another hold from an Ancillary Set. I used to use Block of Ice from Arctic Mastery in conjunction with FT. But, I found getting the two to recharge in sync or close to it difficult, so I switched to Energy Mastery for more Knockdown, which I found meshes nicely with Ice Patch.

Just for the heck of it, what Primary are you considering?

I was going for more of a super survivable tank, with the possibility of keeping the baddies in place. So I was considering an Invul Ice tanker.

I'd recommend shields/ice if you are hell bent on ice melee. Ice is lower damage as a cost to it's unnecessarily touted control elements (tanks hardly need the extra control in the mid to late game where controllers and defenders pull that weight) , but shields has AAO and Shield Charge to make Ice more competitive in terms of damage out put. The knockdown and slows of Ice work well with Shield's defense - giving you more breathing time between strings of hits to help land a heal via teammate or aid self.
I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.
