  1. Yep 75% base is what I seem to remember too, but when you factor in Scourge it's probably a bit higher than that in reality. Especially with multiple scourges from your AoE's like Fire Ball and Fiery Breath.

    I hope that's a brainfart.

Could have meant Sonic Resonance? Since +Res buffs were mentioned, I think that might make more sense .

also warshades get stygian circle at 24 which gives endurance and health back so its theoretical that you could go without stamina. still be a real dog tping around though without stam

My WS doesn't have stamina and I just TP along until the end gets low, pop into squid form to recover end and then TP the rest of the way .

    Patron Pets :)

If you look at the pet names, Brutes get minion names, Stalkers have minion/underlings, Corruptors have Bosses, and Doms have Lt's/Bosses...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Huh? Did I miss something? I really just see one minion name on the list (the Mu Striker). The rest (with the notable exception of spiderlings) can be encountered as Lt´s and Bosses. And yes, the Coralax Guardian is a Boss... and quite a tough one if I might add that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Does it have any type of buffs or heals? If it could buff up my defenses or throw out the odd heal (like the Mu Guardian) it could be quite handy for me. The Mu powers would fit my character look better (robotic em/ea) but they're my least favourite and I do enough energy damage anyway .
  5. Actually looking at the powers again, you're absolutely right. As long as they make the same changes to all PPP's at the same time then I don't suppose it will make any difference at all, unless they make any changes to the secondary effects. It's just the same power with different graphics. Personally, I'd prefer a little more variety between sets and the option to respec but that doesn't look very likely .
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Cryptic's design philosophy would indicate, along their risk vs. reward scheme that PPP's would be proportionately more powerful.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They CAN'T be though without completly unbalancing the hero/villain equilibrium.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Isn't the equilibrium already out of balance though? If a hero chooses an EPP and a few months down the road changes are introduced which make that pool less effective the hero has the option to respec out of that pool. Villains don't have that option. Sure they can take different powers from the PPP or none at all but they are still locked into a choice that may have unknown consequences for their character in the future.

I know Posi said there is "currently" no way to allow villains to respec their PPP which we could take to mean that at some stage they may allow it, but honestly it's a thin hope. Plus, given the Devs lack of foresight as to how players will actually use their powers (they didn't foresee that anyone would 6 slot attacks for damage, 6 slot hasten for recharge, herd half a map and debuff then AoE them to death, etc), resulting in all the changes we've seen since Issue 3 (global defense, ED, AoE limits, etc) I think it's within the realms of possibility that PPP's will be "tweaked" or "balanced" at some stage in the future.
  7. Thanks, I hadn't even considered the end-drain side of it. I guess a 52 second hold is a little over-kill . I imagine it'll either be a 2 second hold thanks to break frees or (hopefully) they'll be long dead before the hold wears off.

I'll try swapping out one or both of the holds for end-drains and see how it goes.

Now, does anyone actually PvP on the test server (since it finally seems to be back up)?
  8. [ QUOTE ]
If you can get your teammates to stay dead long enough to use it on them, yes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Should be fun trying to get them to stay dead long enough for Vengeance, Fallout and Mutation then .

Took your advice and dropped Atomic Blast (was a bit iffy about taking it anyway given the end-crash) but kept EMP since it may be handy to have in a pinch.

Picked up Total Focus instead (I know it has a horrible activation time) since I thought it's Stun coupled with Cosmic Burst might make a nice combo (until they pop a Break Free that is, but what can you do ). Plus most of my other choices were toggles and I think I'm probably pushing it end-wise as it it. Anyway, new build is...

    Brute accuracy

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
One thing I have noticed is that "perceived accuracy" on Brutes seems to be lower than other characters for some reason. Maybe we just notice the misses more?

    [/ QUOTE ]
From my POV, it's probably because my Brute has the most rapid attack chain of all my toons - more attacks invariably leads to a greater number of misses, especially noticeable when the big-hitters fail to connect.

That said, I've been more frustrated by my newbie Stalker missing AS's than by any of my Brute attacks missing. YMMV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm very happy with my Brute's accuracy right now, it was only at the lower levels that it seemed very low but the tests proved that theory wrong.

And I totally agree with the Stalker AS missing - especially embarassing if your team is relying on you to take a big chunk out of a boss .
  10. I was definitely thinking more along the lines of PvP Zones (never really like the Arena tbh) so would that make Mutation a good pick again?
  11. Thanks for the tips, I've changed the slotting on RI and LR. So do you reckon Choking Cloud would be a better pick than Mutation? And is EMP really that bad now? I was thinking that with Build Up it would be pretty good.
  12. Thanks for the advice. Think I'll try and keep Mutation in the build then, unless I find out that Choking Cloud is a fantastic PvP power (honestly can't think of anything except Mutation I'd drop if I had to take CC).

Thanks for the accuracy tip as well. I was kinda hoping Tactics with Aim and/or Build Up would take care of hitting stuff (especially before something like EMP or AB) but maybe it's better to be safe than sorry. Doubt if I could get away with using Aim, BU and Vengeance before Fallout more than once before the opponents would scatter as soon as a team member went down .

    Brute accuracy

I'm playing a Em/Ea Brute atm with 2 Acc SO's in all his attacks and find that he very rarely misses, even against CoT after being hit with a few acc debuffs. The only thing I've come across so far that I have trouble hitting are Rikti drones.

One thing I have noticed is that "perceived accuracy" on Brutes seems to be lower than other characters for some reason. Maybe we just notice the misses more? I even went so far as to /demorecord a run through the same mission several times with attacks with no accuracy enhs and also with 1 and 2 TO's (was low level at the time) then watch them back and tally up the miss percentages. They came out more or less in line with the accuracy figures Cryptic gives us but still when I was just running through missions I still "felt" that my accuracy was lower than it should be.

Unless there's a specific problem with Stone (which I doubt but it's possible) I can't think of any other explanation .
  14. Got a tell asking if I'd help on the first TV respec mission so thought "Why not?". I was the only Defender on the team. Made it as far as the first large room in TV. After the first fight the leader (and Tank) says....

"Stop using that green [censored] (RI and EF) and just heal!"
"That green "[censored]" is what's keeping you alive and means I have to heal less."
"I don't care. Stop wasting end on it and just heal me!!"

1 or 2 team-wipes later (except me because I ran for the door )...
"So...want me to start using the green "[censored]" again?"
    "k"

Unsurpsingly I don't think we ever completed the respec but it was fun .
  15. I've been away from CoH for quite a while (been back playing CoV just recently) and haven't played Nuc in a very long time (she still has her pre-ED build). Since she has 2 respecs knocking about I thought I'd try respeccing her into a PvP build (I have very little PvP experience so may have made a complete mess of it ). I basically thought "What if I maxed out all her debuffs/buffs and team friendly powers and played her as a support character?" since I played her more as a debuffing offender in PvE.

Anyway, here's the build with a few notes/questions at the end.

Travel Power: I chose Hover/Fly because it's what I'm used to. Thought about CJ/SJ and Acrobatics but is it worth it for a Mag 1 resist? TP was temping for using Recall Friend to position corpses for Fallout but, are people going to wait around for me to TP them and blow them up? Also I play on dial-up (don't laugh, please ) so lag can be a factor. SS is my least favourite so I hardly ever pick it.

I know Vengeance/Fallout aren't very popular in PvE but I can see them having uses in PvP. According to Hero Builder with AM, Assault, Aim and Buildup Fallout has a BI of 60.3! but would that be over the Defender damage cap?

Choking Cloud/Mutation: Do people use a Rez in PvP or do they just go to the hospital? I know Mutation has a buff on it but would it actually get used? As for choking cloud, I never really like the power in PvE but can see it being useful in PvP - has anyone used it or know if it's any good?

Finally, I didn't pay that much attention to the order of powers and enhancement slots since I was focusing on a level 50 build (without Conserve Power I doubt if this character could function without Stamina).

Anyhow, sorry for the length of the post and all the newbie questions but any advice or suggestions would be appreciated .

Fire Melee might not be the best single-target killer, but it does the job decently.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I was worried about the lack of any status effect attacks, and thus my ability to solo bosses and such, but aparently air superiority knocks stuff down (including elite bosses ?) so i guess its all ok

    [/ QUOTE ]

AS will knock down Elite Bosses at the early levels but not sure about the later levels when they have those AV-like triangles up. Have soloed a few in the last few days but can't honestly remember if AS knocked them down or not . Regardless, even if you did have status effects on your attacks they won't work the majority of the time anyway.

What I do if I know there is an EB in a mission is carry 6 Luck insps and pop them 3 at a time for the EB fight - so far they've run out of HP before I've run out of Luck .
  17. Nuclea

    Fury?

    [ QUOTE ]
I've taken AS mainly because it's a very quickly recharging knockdown attack - it helps a lot when taking on bosses. As long as they're lying on the floor they can't hit you. It's one of my favorite attack moves

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed . Had a mission last night with a lot of Totem bosses in it. Those guys take so long to get back on their feet that AS was always recharged just in time to knock em back down again so they only managed to get one hit off the entire fight.
  18. Well if CoV is anything to go by, if would be hard to have a worse class . Sometimes I feel like I've been made sit at the kiddies table in a restaurant while the grown-ups have some peace - although I've found it's tolerable if you /hide, disable broadcast, switch on stealth and fly between missions with your eyes closed .

You might see me on Onion at some stage since I've used all my slots up, but I'm trying to get at least 1 villain to 40 (altaholism still as bad as ever ) since a few of the Loons will be taking a break from DDO and coming back for I7.
  19. Since you can usually hit level 6 about an hour after rolling your toon and both forms can fly in Nova form it never really affected my choice of WS. What DID affect it was the fact that PB blast sound effects make my ears bleed . That and those lovely Koosh-Ball™ pets you get at level 32. With 3 of those out at once (thanks to SB from a /Kinetic) and Nova form you could lay waste to a serious amount of bad guys very quickly.

Oh and Hi Nova (FFM), how's things mate?
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I would strongly recommend that anyone who feels that Stalkers are 'teh uber' give one a try.

Anyway, results. Tests with Level 20 characters in Bloody Bay, a Controller vs a Stalker. All Accuracy Inspirations used were 'small' ones.

    Hide
Tactics - Stalker visible from a very long way away.
Inspirations - Stalker visible from a good distance with 1 Inspiration.

    Hide + Stealth
Tactics - Stalker visible from a good distance with 2 Inspirations + Tactics.
Inspirations - Stalker visible from a good distance with 4 Inspirations.

    Hide + Invisibility
Tactics - Stalker visible at melee range with 2 Inspirations + Tactics.
Inspirations - Stalker visible at melee range with 4 Inspirations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, for all you people who think Stalkers are overpowered, let's look at the facts. From Bridger's test results it would seem that Tactics is equivalent to 2 small accuracy inspirations. And from those same test results it shows that a Stalker with Hide + Invisibility can be made visible at melee range (which he has to get to before he starts his 4 second long, interruptable Assassin's Strike) with 4 inspirations (i.e. 2 people running tactics).

I know from my time playing CoH that it isn't exactly hard to find Defenders and Controllers with Tactics, so having 2 people running Tactics in an 8 man team is quite likely (and if they intend to PvP on a regular basis it's very likely).

So the Stalker, if he intends to PvP, has got to take the Stealth pool to have any chance - bearing in mind that Stalkers builds are extremely tight at lower levels since you basically have to take every defensive toggle you can, your (now nerfed) mez protection, Assassin's Strike, Build Up or it's equivalent to make the most of your AS, Placate, a travel power (and it's pre-requisite) and that's without any kind of attack chain.

So, is it fair that a Stalker can 1-shot squishies in PvP? No, and this is being looked into along with the ability to go beyond the perception threshold in extreme cases.

But, is it fair that 2 people running a pool power (available at level 14 if I remember the Leadership pool correctly) can completely negate a Stalkers primary defense (i.e. his stealth) and thereby also negate his primary attack?

Hell, is it fair that if the Stalker doesn't know he has to take stealth to be effective in PvP that 1 person running Tactics or the popping of 1 accuracy inspiration will negate his Stealth?

Picking a Stalker is not an "I win!" button for PvP. In the hands of a skilled player a Stalker can be a deadly PvP opponent, but the same can be said of most ATs in the game.
  21. Thanks for the info Bridger. I imagine it will come in useful both for Stalkers and the people who try to make us go splat.

Unfortunately, after 24 levels I have discovered the inherent flaw in the Stalker AT - they're boring as hell to play! There is absolutely no variety in what I do any more. Hide, AS, either run and hide or placate, kick in the head and then run and hide, wait for AS to recharge and repeat ad nauseum.
  22. Nor am I. I'm also not going to be a player any more. Thank god my sub ran out at the end of October and I'm on my free month. I have, quite literally, had enough of being kept in the dark and fed [censored] repeatedly. If I wanted that, I'd be a bloody mushroom!

Seriously, it's time for cryptic get their collective heads out of their [censored] (or statesplank's [censored]) and realise what is going on. Bugs left, right and centre, stealth nerfs (and don't tell me they just "forgot" to put it in the patch notes - it's amazing that it's always the really bad nerfs that get overlooked while anything that could be remotely considered good news is never missed), lies, half-truths, the list goes on.

Well I for one have had enough. Jack can take his game and shove it in that orifice that he seems to think the sun shines out of. And I know this post will be deleted but I honestly don't care anymore.

To those of you I've come to consider my friends over the last months, thank you. It was fun, in spite of the devs not because of them. I really hope you get your villains to 50 some day and beat the living [censored] out of states.

    Teleporters

You won't get a message saying that you have created the item. If you go back to the base entrance and click Add Personal Item you should see it though.

Then you can place it in your base and be charged prestige for the priviledge - not sure how much the telepad was but mission computer was 75k!

This of course makes perfect sense since we earned the salvage, earned the prestige to get a workbench up and running, used our earned salvage to make the components and finally used those components to make the item. Why wouldn't we then have to pay a ludicrous amount just to move an item we already own from our inventory into a room? It all makes absolute sense, really....to someone....somewhere....who needs a bloody good kicking!
  24. Um what exactly is happening here? I made 2 items from salvage for the base (Mission Computer and Telepad) just out of curiosity.

When I placed these items I got the "bought for xxx prestige" message. I thought the whole point of salvage was being able to make items for the base without using prestige? I sold these items back and regained the prestige I'd spent (since I was only testing some things and didn't want to cost the SG prestige) but I'm still down salvage now.

So, is this a bug or another WAI that we haven't been made aware of?
  25. [ QUOTE ]
I geuss you have to actually "hit" the enemies with it to placate them? If thats the case then even if you miss one it screws up or soemthign?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just had a look on hero planner and the only enhancement it lists for it is recharge reduction. If this is correct and it doesn't accept accuracy that would mean that it's an auto-hit power so technically you wouldn't be able to miss. Unless you're on a big team and have more than 15 mobs around you then I think the AoE limit code would probably kick in.
