I'd like to see the other stuff you listed implemented (well the AoE on Propel is iffy like you said but the rest is good), but can't see the above being done since the duration/recharge on all Dominator/Controller mass holds are the same.
(I'm going by your forum join date on this so apologies if you were actually around back then...)
Before Issue 5 mass holds used to last twice as long as they do now and recharge in half the time. Combined with no max target cap on AoEs back then Controllers could literally perma-hold an entire room once the Tank ran around and gathered them all up for you. Jack Emmert did not like this and said the game had turned into 'City of Statues' and so mass holds were gutted in I5.
I get the impression that the current devs are happy with them being more of a panic button than an every-spawn power now too. And actually, on a Domi with Domination+Power Boost they're still pretty sweet -
I know it's not on your list but Traps/Dark is quite nice. Tentacles keep the mobs from fleeing (since it appears Acid Mortar is scarier than Hamidon
) and the -ToHit stacks nicely with the FFG and Seekers. It won't win any DPS races but it *is* very safe.

Temporal Control. It could be the exciting thing we have to wait for since they'd likely want to reuse some of the assets from Time Manipulation so would have to wait for those to be finalised.
I expect it'll be Dark Control/Assault though which I'd be happy with too -
Quote:Nah it's more that we we're willing to play more than 1 of the 14 archetypes available to us. So enjoy your protest. In the meantime we'll be manipulating time, blasting mobs with darkness and being Strong AND Pretty. And then playing the new Dom sets post I21 along with youYou know I'm shocked so many of you are willing to settle for 2nd to last place. You're okay with having fewer options. You're okay with not having low hanging fruit (illusion control and dark assault) put on your table, too. You're okay with Time Manipulation being a buff set and not a control set. You're okay with the melee classes getting Titan Weapons and all we get is super secret promises.
It's time to wake up and join the protest rather than following the devs like sheep to pasture. -
Quote:Sorry, but you're the one purposefully limiting yourself by choosing to only play Dominators then having a hissy-fit that the devs aren't giving you more choices. You've chosen, not been forced, to only play 49 out of the 766 available non-EAT powerset combinations by labeling yourself a "Dominator." Honestly, you seem to be the one making a rod for your own back and then blaming the devs for it.I'm protesting the unequal treatment dominators are receiving. Having fewer playing options than the next closest ATs (blasters and controllers) and watching those ATs get even more choices while dominators have to wait for their proliferation or only get something new if it's shareable is unfair.
Would I like to see Doms get a proliferated set or two this time round? Hell yes! Doms are my favourite archetype in the game (even when I'm swearing on TS about the PToD), I'm levelling two atm. But I'm content to wait and see what we get post-I21. In the meantime, I'll enjoy a Dark/Dark Blaster (I adore my D3 Defender) and probably give the new EA a twirl as well.

Quote:Please tell me that was a joke? Pretty please?I hate to pull rank here, but I'm a 7 year veteran and VI-friggin-P and I demand to be treated as such! Where are my dark dominator powers? Why don't I have them yet when my patron does?
Quote:Honestly, I have to agree with DarkCurrent. I don't really care what they may be planning for later. 'Soon(tm)' isn't especially reassuring when everyone but you is getting something - we've waited long enough for Illusion, dang it!
I want to know *why* illusion can't be proliferated *now* - if everyone else is getting something, there better be a darn good reason, and no, 'Soon(tm)' doesn't count. If we're getting it eventually anyway, why *can't* we get it now? And if they're *not* planning to give it to us, well...
I'm with the people who think that Dark Manipulation for Blasters is probably the prototype for Dark Assault for Domis. And Blasters have been waiting for a Dark powerset a lot longer than Domis have been waiting for Illusion. -
Quote:I thought they'd already changed the Defender version to KD like they'd done with the MM Lich until I checked it just nowim SOOOOOOOOOO excited for dark blast on blasters! Dark/Mental/Soul blaster will be soooo controlly/survivable/ DEADLY >
BUT... i dont like KBhopefully its only a minor chance? or maybe theyll change it to KD? idk ill probably take it either way.
.
Hopefully they'll take the opportunity to do something about it when making the new power.
Otherwise, pretty happy with what's been announced. I foresee at least a dark/* blaster, WM/* scrapper and a */EA scrapper in my near future. Also really, really, really hoping that Doms will get some sort of dark control/dark assault lovin -
Congrats on the 6 years, nice to see you're still enjoying it!
Quote:You forgot to mention the Origin stores weren't marked on the maps and you could only transfer 99,999 Inf at a time so if you wanted to kit out your alt you needed very patient SG matesYou kids today with your Inventions and your markets. Back then, we just had TOs, DOs at 12, SOs at 22, and that was it. If we wanted anything but Power 10 enhancements we had to run a bunch of missions for our contact and hope we wouldn't outlevel them by the time they started offering us stuff. We couldn't afford to slot up with all SOs until well into the 30s, unless a kindly 50 helped us out, but we were happy all the same. They were simpler times..

Quote:I'm really hoping this is one of those time where sarcasm doesn't translate well in textWell, I don't know about the rest of you, but when I'm invited to a group, the leader becomes my new dad.
If dad says wait, I wait. If dad says use my best attacks, I use my best attacks. If dad says 'Will you die for me?' I shout YES and prove it. I am afraid of my dad, so I do what he says. Dad doesn't like it when I burn the bacon.
Leaders are never to be questioned. This isn't some social revolution folks. It's a game where you do what you're told, or else you will have your fun card revoked. You want to express yourself, get a diary, but it has no place in Team Chat. Team Chat is for LEADERS. Shut your mouth and do what you're told.
It's not about what works, it's about doing what you're told to do. If you do what you are told and it doesn't work, do it again and do it better this time.
Listen to your Dad. Don't burn the bacon. -
I keep trying to do this but then my OCD kicks in and I always end up with column 1 all greens, column 2 all blues, 3 is purples, 4 is reds and 5 is always break-free's and a wakey.
Then I just leave them like that because if I use them it'll just bug me until they're all "right" again -
Quote:While spamming Hand Clap? The best tanks are the bouncy hyperactive ones you've to try and keep up with who just do their thing and trust you to do yours and just say things like "Wheee"
@OP I think most of it has already been covered by other posters and you seem to be willing to take what has been said on board, which is nice to see.
One thing I'd add is, if you're coming to CoH from other MMOs like EQ2, LotRO and maybe WoW (not sure how much coordination/communication is needed there tbh) you may need to change your thinking slightly.
My experience is mainly with EQ2 where running high-end dungeons there was actually some strategy needed and short commands like "Wait", "Pulling", "Assist", "Mez x" etc from the leader (normally the tank) were fairly common and no one really batted an eyelid at it.
CoH is a much more relaxed game and for the vast majority of the content that's simply not required. The fights are much more chaotic, especially on a full team but as long as the team sticks fairly close together and everyone uses their powers with even a little common sense, they're generally pretty easy. Add to that the fact that a large percentage of the playerbase has been here for years, have a ridiculous number of alts and probably tried out every powerset in the game at this stage and really don't need to be told how to play and it's not surprising you encountered some attitude.
So just relax, throw out the old rulebook, embrace the chaos and have funThis game has probably the friendliest and most helpful community of any MMO I've played but you will get back what you give. Try being polite and more respectful next time and you'll be amazed at the difference.

For those saying that this is wasted in EVE as far as I know this is being developed for "Walking in Stations" (not sure if they ever came up with a more official name for it) and also for the FPS tie-in game that they're working on.
It will be implemented before either of those features in preparation for them going live. -
Did a search and didn't find anything about this. Also not sure if this is the right place to post it so if it's a duplicate or not allowed please delete it.

Any chance we can steal some of their devs for CoH 2? -

Weird how memory works - I struggle to remember my nephew's birthday yet remember the traditional greeting on the planet Arg -

Meh I was expecting something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69vO9ScXLV4 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfsMZKwqw3w
Now I feel really old -
Martial Arts = Kf -> Kung fu
Plant Control = Iv -> Poison Ivy
Stretching = Rr -> Reed Richards
Metallic Form = Fe could refers to Iron Man I guess (Ferrum)
That's all I could add -
My favourite memory has to be my first Lusca fight (back in I3). I remember the call going out on broadcast in the neighbouring zones of "Lusca is up in IP" - at that point I had no idea who or what Lusca was. So I was a tad surprised when I was told it was a giant octopus attacking the city
.
So off we went to IP (I think every single person that was online in our SG at the time showed up) to join up with what seemed like every hero on the server. It was really amazing to see that many characters in one place and every single one of them unique. The actual fight with Lusca was amazing. There were powers going off left, right and center with everyone working as one giant team to take it down.
It really felt like something right out of a comic book, like all the heroes in the city dropped what they were doing and joined forces to combat this massive threat. I think that was the first time I actually felt heroic while playing the game - before that my character had been just that, a character. But afterward, she was a Hero! -
/facepalm
I can't believe I missed that thread - thanks for the heads-up, I'll copy it over.
Mods, feel free to delete my nooby mistake.

So I was in a low-level PuG tonight with quite a few people fairly new to the game, and it got me thinking back to when I started playing (EU launch) when everything was new and shiny and I was far less curmudgeonly that I am now and about what my favourite memory was from back then.

Anyway, that's enough of me waxing nostalgic. Just thought I'd share and see favourite memories the rest of you have from the last 6 years. -
Quote:I believe that is also just a display bug as I think someone tested that the pets' damage is actually being increased correctly.Quote:Someone's said that this is also a display bug, and the ember demon is still getting the correct damage enhancement.
-Morgan.
I guess I should have realised that the display bug would propagate down into the individual power displays.
-
Quote:(emphasis mine)Because things like Protector bots beg for defense enhancement as well, and a bit of heal. I know currently that ember demon's damage resistance is being enhanced at the same time as damage, but if you wanted to enhance healing, you'd be forced to frankenslot.
As far as I can tell, that appears to just be a display bug. The values for ember shield are still the same as when I first summoned the pet - 5% s/l/t, 6.66% fire and 3.33% cold for me and double those numbers for the pets. The demons inherent resistances haven't increased either (apart from the level scaling). The real problem is that +damage is being capped as if it was schedule B (~60%) rather than schedule A (~90%). (not the case - see posts below correcting this) -
Damn, I was expecting something much more sinister. Maybe some sort of subliminal messaging or at the very least a Nemesis plot. Oh well.
We now return you to your scheduled programing ...
