  1. Grossly disappointed there is no mention of Seinfeld.

Greatest sitcom of all time... greatest TV show of all time.

No other sitcom comes anywhere close. All of your irreverent, anti-feel-good sitcoms like Arrested Development, The Office, etc. They all owe their success to Seinfeld. It pioneered the genre; they did it first and they did it the best. Almost every episode has an unforgettable moment... at least beyond the rough first season, which is still funnier than most sitcoms.
  2. Luthor's power armor is extremely durable and strong. I don't think he could beat Superman in a fight, however, without using his Kryptonite beam attacks or his Kryptonite energy generators.

As far as materials go, there is "Kryptium," a vague metal from Krypton that is described in an old 60s issue of Action Comics as being stronger than any Earth metal. It is unknown if its durability and strength would increase under a yellow sun as Kryptonians do. In Superman Earth One, there was "Kryptonian metal" comprising Superman's ship that gained super-durability under the yellow sun, but this is non-canon, (as everything soon will be, I guess).

    This is completely wrong.

I am 100% certain that Superman's origin as an alien from Krypton will not be touched. Lois Lane will not be gotten rid of. The names "Clark Kent," "Superman," and "Kal-El" will not be lost.

The lawsuit with the Siegels and Shusters is about them wanting money. They aren't trying to rip the character away from Time Warner so they can publish their own Superman stories. If they did that, each of them would only have half of a character, and neither of them would be able to profit from it. Besides that, the Siegels/Shusters wouldn't know what to do with such a huge intellectual property. They're just holding out for more money, but it will be settled out of court.

The costume change is purely a boneheaded attempt to make Superman "look cool" even though his costume is iconic and hasn't had any drastic permanent changes since the logo was finalized in the late 40s. It will revert to normal within a few years. I suspect this entire "New DCU" will revert to normal within a few years, too. The question is: how many people will still be around, or willing to come back, when it happens?

Spinning the Earth backwards was a special effect to illustrate that he was traveling backwards through time. He did not reverse time by reversing the rotation of the Earth, but rather, the rotation of the Earth reversed because Superman was traveling backwards through time. It is a very common misconception and I don't really understand why. I suspect Seinfeld might have something to do with it.

They apparently got close to reaching a settlement just recently until the lawyer stepped in and advised them not to take the deal because he has his own interests in mind over those of his clients.

Hahaha, you must be joking, right? Yeah, let's just act like the character that launched our company and has become a cultural icon that 95% of the people on the planet are familiar with and with whom we are inseparably affiliated never even existed and replace him with an imitation created by a different company that we bought out and that 95% of the people on the planet have never heard of.
They will settle in the end, and the lawyer will become extremely rich off of this one case alone unless the Siegel and Shuster families have the good sense to fire him.

This whole DC reboot, as proposed, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If they're going to erase -everything- in DC continuity and reduce everyone to being in their 20s and give them all stupid "modern costumes" and try to make everything more realistic like that awful story with Superman in Iran, then count me out. If, however, all of these allegations turn out to be blatant hyperbole, I might continue to check it out. We'll have to wait and see. The whole thing smells like a publicity stunt and mark my words, any increases of sales resulting from rebooting the entire DC universe will be temporary at best. I expect things to return to the status quo within two years, and personally I'd end it by having Superboy Prime reading these rebooted DCU comics and getting so angry that he personally returns to Earth-One and punches reality again, reverting everything to the way it was before the reboot.

I don't know why they don't just launch a few Ultimate DC titles or something. Destroying 30-75 years of canon and potentially alienating your core demographic to go after an unproven new demographic sounds like bad business to me. Especially when they could just, you know, focus on NOT rebooting/retconning everything so often and giving people good storylines and character advancement. That would make the content a LOT more approachable to new readers AND please current readers instead of just erasing everything. Unfortunately in the comics world, any time a character receives some advancement and depth, he is inevitably reset to his origin story roots. Nobody seems to be immune from this effect.

At least have the good sense to give Superman his trunks back at some point, if you do insist on going through with this. I get a lot of people hate it, think it's cheesy, outdated, etc. But that's the entire point of it.

The argument that high title numbers scare off readers is complete crap. There is no evidence to back it up. The ONLY bit of truth to it is that Issue #1s DO sell better, but that should be obvious. Collectors, speculators, comics fans, etc. all like to collect or check out the first issue of a series. So what are they going to do, make EVERY issue "Issue 1"? Obviously not. But you know what sells just as well as issue 1? Issue 900. Issue 1000. And guess what they do when a hundredth anniversary issue comes up? They conveniently abandon the current numbering system and return to the old one, (Wonder Woman #600, anyone?). You know what else would make people check out their comics, besides a stupid numbering system gimmick? Good stories.

Numbers are irrelevant. What scares off readers is lousy, confusing continuity and bad storylines.

Either way, if this is what it sounds like, it will be the largest retcon in the history of the DC Universe. Even Crisis on Infinite Earths wasn't a total reboot and merged character histories together and created a separate universe for the Golden Age heroes. Retcons that provide fresh perspectives are great, "rebooting" everything to fit a more "modern" take on 75-year-old established characters is just plain stupid.

Sorry to keep the rant-train going, but here's another thing! They want to sell more comic books and make them more accessible? How about ending these global events that require people to buy 50 comics a month just to keep up? Give comics SHORT story arcs and SELF-CONTAINED, single-issue stories. These are MUCH more accessible to people who don't read comic books. Writing about Batman's death and subsequent return for the last FOUR YEARS might have made for a great story arc, but only for those who have actually bothered to KEEP UP with it. Spending an entire YEAR telling a story about Superman walking across the country when it could have been told in one or two issues and probably would've been MUCH more compelling and well-paced? And as much as I enjoy Justice League: Generation Lost, there is NO reason it has to be 24 issues long. Same for Brightest Day, and Blackest Night didn't need to have so many tie-ins either. And yet these editors sit and pick their noses trying to figure out ways to get non-readers interested in their comics, and then pull stupid stunts like this.

It's used when it needed, but if it's not you just leave it off.
Unless you're IO'd to the gills, it's needed pretty often in regular gameplay unless you aren't going to be the main tank or you have people buffing you. Without using Granite, it's probably the least survivable Tanker set (or close to it) without offering anything in return (such as Shield/Fire giving extra damage). If you're going to take the alpha of an 8-person team you're going to want Granite armor on.

I flat out dropped the other armors completely, save Minerals (for Psychic Clockwork and other things like that). I was Energy Melee anyways so the damage debuff wasn't really a big deal to me since my damage was already pretty bad...

Suppose I could take them now that I have 3 extra powers due to Inherent Fitness but... don't see much of a point.
  9. It shouldn't be balanced around Incarnates or Inventions, but they should be taken into account. A 65 percent global recharge reduction is plenty of a penalty for going Granite, I should think. Not to mention the vast speed debuff and the 30% damage reduction, which by the way makes a lot of sense as it's well known that coating your fists in soft, pillowy granite greatly lessens force of impact. Still, it would be nice to be able to go up a 3 foot tall ledge without having to detoggle my armor...

Either that or change the power completely to augment the rest of the set rather than replace it so that, as a whole, it becomes versatile and fun to play while leveling up and not just "that set that really sucks until you get to level 32 and respec out of all of the other armor powers that you no longer need and won't be using since they can't be active at the same time as the only power that matters, and even then it's really kind of hard to tolerate unless you have a kin with you all the time." Either option would work for me.

I'd be completely fine if they reworked Granite Armor to be significantly less powerful (though still good, say maybe 20-30% resistance and 7.5-10% defense added) and able to be active with the other armors (overriding their graphical effects) so long as the penalties for using it were severely diminished.
  10. It's time for the -jump aspect of Granite and Rooted to go. Reducing the -speed debuff would be nice as well. These debuffs just aren't needed anymore, (and frankly were not terribly well thought out to begin with). Yes, Granite is still the single best Tanker armor available, but now with Inventions and Incarnates, you can basically reach the same levels of survivability with none of the drawbacks. What reason will anyone have to continue taking Stone outside of theme, (which can be substituted with a rock Shield)?
  11. While I can't argue that Peacebringers couldn't definitely stand to use some attention from the devs (yes, I'm aware they were made "better" a while back, but there's plenty of room for improvement), I definitely don't think they're as useless as some people have said. I love my 50 Peacebringer. He may not do a ton of damage, and he gets mezzed like a chump, but he can survive situations that even cause some Tankers to faceplant.

Haha, I remember that episode. I was a bit perturbed after first watching it, but it never really bothered me much after that. He's only fake in the sense that he's the O'Brien from an hour in the future or whatever. What disturbed me more was how screwed up he should have been (but, beyond the episode, wasn't) after experiencing 20+ years worth of memories of being in prison and murdering his cell-mate. Still one of my favorite characters.

Sure, but to say it was "all rainbows" or whatever the other person said is still inaccurate. And is it just me, or does Superman Secret Origin kinda suck? Birthright was much better aside from making him a vegetarian imo. Not that I hate vegetarians or anything, just doesn't seem right for a Kansas farm boy.

I wish they would do it right after ROTJ and destroy all of the EU post ROTJ canon, because it's pretty awful for the most part...

And yeah, I do think George Lucas would do it better. I'd rather watch the prequels any day than read about Luke killing clones of Palpatine and Vader and fanservice characters like "Anakin Solo". The whole EU post ROTJ seems like a badly written fanfic, save for a few saving graces here and there.
  16. Sigh. I really wish Alexander was supposed to be... you know, Alexander Luthor, (Jr.), from the comics, and not going to grow up to become the new Lex. Really, really lame. I hope Michael Rosenbaum comes back and kills the clone as the real, NOT dead Lex Luthor.
  17. I am torn. 701 and 702 were lackluster and I felt like he kind of dropped the ball when it came to accurately nailing the character. 703 was better but still had some weak points. Some elements of the story are downright preposterous. I get that he doesn't always take everything into consideration when he fights big bads and smashes them through buildings, but do we really need the panel with the old lady talking about her weak heart and how she almost had a heart attack from the fighting? Next issue we'll be seeing a boy complaining about how Superman's hand-clap killed a butterfly and made him cry. Considering he actually takes responsibility for the bedlam he inadvertantly creates when defending himself or others, something most other heroes do not do, I don't think Superman of all people should be victimized with this kind of heavy-handed colateral damage message, especially considering it's the same message he himself championed in Kingdom Come against Magog and his ilk. That's what really bothers me.
  18. +1 for Trinity Vol. 1 and Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow (can't believe someone would -1 this Alan Moore classic)
  19. Everyone needs to calm down. If you'd actually read the 3 page preview of this graphic novel you'd probably realize pretty quickly that it's not about a "dark, brooding" Superman. It's about a younger, more accessible Superman. The Earth One line's universe would probably be more appropriately compared to Marvel's Ultimate universe, not inherently angst-ridden and gloomy.

As for the cover. Yeah, he kinda looks like a crackhead. But really, he's wearing a hooded jacket with a white button-up shirt and jeans. Not exactly "angst-ridden emo-wear" is it?

No. It doesn't. I can cite dozens of examples, like how he felt post-Infinite Crisis and disappeared for about a year, or when he exiled himself from Earth because he held himself personally responsible for someone's death, or I could just refer you to the current JMS Superman run in which he's literally resigned himself to walk across the U.S. to get back in touch with the people because he feels like he let them down.

I do agree with you though, when you say that he was/is an outcast. Being an outcast is in his very nature. He even pretends to be a bit of a loser to throw people off his scent. You might balk at that, but when you relegate yourself to not having many friends or much of a social life, even if you choose to be that way, it can still be hard. Superman having a rough childhood is pretty much hard canon. It's something that's been a part of his continuity for a long time, and has been a part of every modern retelling/retcon I can think of as far back as John Byrne's The Man of Steel post-crisis 1986 retcon (I am sure there were more, as he was depicted this way in the 1978 film as well, but my knowledge that far back is hazy at best).

This seems to have been done intentionally in both shows. The term thrown around from the onset was "more character driven" shows. Seems the folks over at SyFy feel "character driven" stories require a collection of ********.
I like SGU. I like SG-1. Haven't watched SGA... yet. But I don't like SGU and SG-1 for the same reasons. SG-1 is more of an idealistic fantasy like Star Trek (which I also love) with a few dark spots here and there just so you don't think the characters are complete saints (also just like Star Trek). I will agree that SGU is getting a bit too dark with most of the characters. I used to like Colonel Young, and hated Wray and Rush for trying to seize authority. Now I am not so sure, and I think it's interesting that the show has sort of made me back away from my initially formed opinion of the characters. But now I don't have anyone to cheer for. Grier is a belligerent jerk, Young is almost morally bereft in his style of command, Wray is a power-hungry feminazi, Rush is such an absorbed intellectual that he'd willingly put others in harm's way for the sake of research... and then the characters that aren't deplorable are largely boring... TJ and Chloe are damsels in distress that everyone has to rescue and who also don't seem to show a whole lot of emotion given their very somber situations (TJ having lost her baby, Chloe having lost her father). Eli's the only one I give a damn about, and despite being a boy genius and "the most important person on this ship" he still seems to have been relegated to being a side-character.

And when are they going to explore some planets? Maybe meet some friendly aliens? I realize these stargates are much older than the ones in the Milkyway and neighboring galaxies and wouldn't likely contain any humans due to the Gou'ald not taking slaves, but couldn't the ancients have seeded some of these worlds like they did in our galaxy? The only time these people are on planets is when they're collecting flora samples or getting killed by horrible monsters.

As for the comment about Enterprise killing tension because we knew what would happen... I disagree. TOS takes place over 100 years after ENT. All we know is that Earth would endure, humans and aliens would coexist as part of a Federation, etc. Knowing that certainly didn't prepare me for season 3 of Enterprise, in which Earth was attacked and 7 million people were killed. We also didn't know who might live, who might die, what would happen to lead in to TOS happening. It's not the same as the Star Wars prequels where we all know Anakin is going to be Vader.

They discount based on % of regular titles in the subscription as well.

My friend goes through dcbservice.com and probably saves more money that I did, but I didn't like their ordering process, personally.
I'll second this. Though I will add that one of the times I've ordered from them they seemed to almost forget about my order and I sent them a friendly email after waiting a month and seeing my order still hadn't shipped. They shipped it out right away, but informed me that a few of their special 50 cent back issues (specific variant covers I had selected) were not available. To make up for it, and to ensure I at least got the issues, they sent me different variant covers. The variants they did end up sending were valued at over 5 dollars each on their site, and not part of the 50 cent selection, so I thought that was nice of them.

They also have a 10 dollar deal in which you get 25 new, random comics. The comics are from within the last 5 years, are generally in good/unread condition, and they will personally sort through to ensure you don't get any duplicates. A large portion of it was Marvel with some DC and independents (you'd think they'd try to give me more DC since that's what I primarily ordered in back issues... but whatever).

If you're looking for older stuff, the site http://graveyardmall.com RARELY has a 50 comics/$9.95 deal, full of stuff mostly from the 80s/90s and an occasional older/newer issue. I ordered 100 issues once and mostly got X-Men and related spinoff group titles. Seems like they unloaded all of their 90s X-Men crap on me. It is mostly Marvel. I think of the 100 issues, 80+ of them were Marvel, maybe 4 or 5 DC, and the rest were Image or smaller/independent companies. Friends have reported titles that vary greatly from what I got, as well as more DC/independent/etc. I did however come across TALES OF FEAR #14 from 1972, featuring one of the first appearances of Man Thing. It's worth about 15 bucks according to the internet. My most prized issue is an unopened MR. T AND THE T-FORCE ISSUE 1 with collectable Mr. T trading card in tact.

It's the swiss army knife of the blasting sets. It should thus have more versatile animations than other sets. Here are some suggestions:

1.) Shooting from a wrist-mounted device. The Praetorian clockwork have animations where they shoot things from their wrist, like their flamethrower. I haven't fought Marauder yet, but he looks like he's got a little cannon as well. Also, Boba Fett.
2.) Shooting from a device that is mounted on the body, ala the Praetorian Clockwork or the Crab Spider path for soldiers. Also, War Machine.
3.) This could free up the stigma of using your minigun (Or other device) to shoot bean bags and flames and stuff, I guess? More weapon models are always nice.

Not sure how plausible this all is, but man it'd be sweet.
I might actually be interested in playing AR if it had animations like this.

I'm having this issue as well. It'd be nice if it were at least acknowledged so we know if it will ever be fixed. I am a bit tired of this big black stripe running down what is supposed to be a red, white and blue shield, and any time I go to change it at the Tailor, the patterns I assign to it won't show up unless I'm using the "reinforced" variant of the shield. And it did this throughout Closed Beta as well. Please fix...
