Meh. Every film in history is a re-make of one of the seven basic plotlines. Why go see any of them?

I personally don't give a rat's keister about whether something is a remake or not. I care about if it's GOOD.

  4. People keep forgetting what "galactic scales" means.

"About to die" for a star is measured in the millions of years.

    -np
  5. The Destiny has the ability to tap directly into massive power sources that the folks back home still can't: The stars themselves.

Whatever energy levels even a naquadria planet might provide, a star probably outputs more.

I would accept that, but the CGI bullet (that sprouted wings and such) was just the bullet, whereas the physical prop showed Deadshot clearly inscribing Clark's name on the cylinder.

The show's not even consistent with itself.

Yeah, the "western gunslinger" bit was jarring. Deadshot has never been that sort of persona.

    Also, no mustache.

Actually, from what they showed, the bullet never even made it past the first bend just after the muffler. Not even past the resonator. Despite Clark stating it was in the "engine block".

Interestingly, the CGI version of the bullet was just the bullet. It was only the physical props that showed the bullets with Clark's name being inscribed on the CYLINDER.

Also the ability of the 'forensics lab' to un-crumple the squashed round into a pristine perfect pre-fired form was more than a little eye-roll worthy.

Kind of amusing was that the second round meant for Clark was clearly shown to be a revolver round, but it was somehow fired from a rifle.

I believe Clark has stopped conventional bullets in slow-mo before which did not have the cartridge attached.
More likely the prop department needed more surface area to clearly show for the camera Clark's name on the "bullet", and they thought nobody would know the difference.

Only, this is more or less a geek show. They should know better.

  8. So...

Apparently Deadshot has weapons that fire not only the bullet at his targets, but the ENTIRE CARTRIDGE as well.

And here I thought most TV shows had gotten past that bit of stupid ignorance about how bullets work.

  9. It's close enough that we can get there in a human lifetime.

It's in an environmental niche such that we could set up an insulated survival pod and survive.

In intergalactic scales, this is damn near as near as we are EVER likely to get to "close" and "habitable".

As opposed to all the others so far that have been thousands of years of travel away and/or hot enough to melt rock/cold enough to freeze air.

    This has been... inconsistent.

There's been a few different times where a Gate was buried, but were still able to be activated somehow, and the "backwash" was able to clear the immediate obstruction.

The time Jack was trapped on a planet for several weeks after a meteor storm buried the Gate comes to mind. A direct meteor strike buried the Gate and flash-melted the rock in the area into a solid mass. The SG team was still able to dial in somehow, and sent Teal'c through with rock-boring gear to clear the remaining obstructions.

I still think the funniest option is to just have Greer kick people back through the gate as they come in.

As a mere player with a more than passing interest in the bases aspect of the game, I plead guilty to trying to analize everything said or done publicly by the devs on this subject. My goal is to try and understand the thought process behind the (very few) things that do occur with bases. My reasoning is that that will provide some kind of insight on what the devs find important and perhaps an inkling of future direction.

So far that has mostly been an exercise in futility (frustration) for me. Oftentimes, like this, the soda pop bottle just drops from the sky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gods_Must_Be_Crazy

Guess I need to just accept that and move on.
Yeah, it seems random, like the test beaker racks suddenly having actual beakers on them.

Well, most of the "BB pack" ideas that people have presented are largely Decorative items, so that should not be an issue at all.

I mean, there are already a number of character personal items that can be put into bases.

If they do make it so it adds a bunch of stuff to your Personal Items list, though, I would like them to move the "Add Personal Item" button to the main editor under the "add room"/"add style"/"add item"/etc buttons, and change it so folks that don't have general base editing privileges only see that button.

It would be a pain in the kiester if you had to keep switching back and forth between the base editor and the "add personal item" editor.

Heck, while they're at it, move the Upgrade Plot button there too. Having them all as essentially separate editors is just clunky.

Didn't read the rest of the thread, did ya?

The vast majority of those fights had people either standing there posing as CGI effects few around, or they basically had quick cut flashes of them running and then flashes of light meant to represent "stuff happening too fast to see".

There weren't really any knock down drag out fights, cars getting smashed, actors getting slammed around.

I think Heroes was afraid to put their actors in any situations where their pretty faces might get injured.

Yeah, but they did it in one episode. Not four years.

Which is the point. Heroes dragged out stuff for SO LONG that they lost a lot of viewers who got bored.

When a show achieves in a single episode what people wanted, what Heroes wasn't able to do it in it's entire run, that's how.

  16. You are correct, they were using a power source way, WAY more powerful than even ZPMs can achieve.

    -np
  17. Huh. Looks interesting.

I just finished Claymore m'self. Aside from also featuring a lot of female warriors fighting, it is... decidedly different in focus.

  18. Yeah, okay, I suppose it wouldn't work for Destiny.

But SG-1 and Atlantis had plenty of cases where, y'know, a great big pit in front of the Gate would have helped immensely.

But what would have worked for Destiny? Positioning guys with rifles to either side of the gate, ready to pop the Lucien Alliance guys in the head as soon as they stepped through.

Or, to save bullets, just position Greer so he can kick people back through the gate as they materialize and are still disoriented.

Maybe he lets Telford through. Dunno, Telford still seemed pretty useless even after he broke his programming.

Edit: You also need a Mission Computer or an Oracle to run the CoP.
    Okay, haven't ever run one.

    So that's one use.

My point is that it can't be used as a replacement for a regular telepad.

    -np
  20. Note that the Raid Telepad ONLY functions to teleport your team to an 'enemy' base in a PvP raid.

Since Base PvP is disabled, it has no functional use at all right now.

  21. "Corrected the swapped prestige costs for Small Steel Lab Tank and Steel Alembic Tank."

    Really? That's all?

If nothing else, what about all the other items that are cost-swapped, like a lot of the Tech monitors?

  22. Why are these stargates never repositioned so they're over a pit, with drawbridge to allow normal use?

Yeah, I caught it on Hulu as well.

I also think the fluorescent water is a red herring too. Woman develops powers, and it's revealed that her boss is secretly involved with other super-powered people. That can't be coincidence.

  24. The only mechanical reason to even have crafted telepads is to force players to burn resources.

Ultimately, it's a time sink. Same as making folks visit locations to get the beacons.
