In an attempt to impose some kind of order on my alt-itis I've recently rolled (or rerolled) a ton of new characters and I expect I'll continue to do so, quite possibly until I run out of slots. I've also got some level 1s holding onto names I want for demon summoning and dual pistols.
How I'll ever find the time to play them all I have no idea but it'll be fun trying to. -
Quote:That's an amazing piece of work, or art or something...The last time I watched television this happened
Oh, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who was amused that the superhero wore blue and the robber wore red -
I'd never noticed that before.
It's a bit undignified, don't you think? Now I want a VEAT mission that involves attacking Galaxy City to avenge this insult to Arachnos.
Oh, and no surprise it's Freedom Corp's HQ. Further proof, it were needed, that Ms. Liberty is psychotic. -
CO seems to be doing a fine job of driving people back to CoH without any help from NCSoft.
So much so I could almost convince myself that CO is actually an extremely ambitious viral marketing campaign for CoH. Right now it wouldn't surprise me that much if CO announced they were shutting down the same day NCSoft confirmed the release date for Going Rogue.
Seriously, I'm only half kidding. -
My top 3
1. Hover. It's just so cool looking. I keep it running on certain characters all the time, even in tight enclosed spaces like the twisty caves where it's mostly useless. I've squandered an awful lot of End feeding this addiction.
2. Power Thrust. The most super super power of them all. And you can get it at level 1!
3. Soul Storm. That it's Ghost Widow's signature power is quite awesome in itself. That it puts you in the ultimate megalomaniac villain pose when you use it is extremely awesome. -
It all depends what your definition of 'the game' is. Mine includes inventions, and if it's content that anyone can do on SOs it's not End-Game content, it's just more level 50 content with (perhaps) disproportionately good rewards.
I'm not a power-gamer or a min/maxer. I pick powers for concept and fun, not to make my characters uber. I slot IOs that drop until I hit 50 then I might, just might, try to collect the rest of the sets. Nonetheless, at some point the devs will have to start balancing some higher end content around IO'd power levels, because as it it at the moment I've been on plenty of moderately IO'd teams who will walk over anything short of multiple AVs without breaking sweat.
If doing the new end-game content results is rewarded by increasing the power of your 50s, then it should be designed to challenge those who've already put in effort to increase the power of their 50s within the current game.
And Sam, I'm the last person to advocate forced teaming. Okay, I got a bit carried away with the idea of roaming GMs (I'm not looking for Monster Island II) but I'd sooner see at least some of the end game revolve around a high risk zone or two that anyone can (at their own risk) enter, teamed or otherwise, rather than the 8 man minimum TFs/SFs that I fear we're more likely to get. -
I'd also like to see more missions structured like the Mayhems/Safeguards, with multiple things that you can do (or not) and ambushes and the sense of urgency that the timer provides.
I usually hate timed objectives in games, but Mayhems are without question my favourite missions in the entire game. -
Quote:This.Story Arcs and TF's really should have more imagination and work put into the maps. Hess is a good example for this, though even that could do with some work nowdays. Those Midnighter Missions where you have to go to that radio station? It's another bloody office map. Nothing radio about it. They might as well just warp you to a big box room and have the enemy groups port in, because the surroundings have nothing to do with the mission.
As much as I enjoy the game, and playing the same mission with a different AT or even just different powersets can be a nicely varied experience, running around the same handful of locations over and over and over again does get very repetitive. It's even worse when an arc opens with a cool unique map then runs you through the same office/cave/warehouse ad nauseum for the rest of the arc (yes, I'm looking at you, Terra Conspiracy.)
Unique maps take time and resources to develop, but they invariably liven up any mission in which they are used and this game could really do with more of them. A lot more of them.
Is it too much to ask that some of the atmospheric detail conveyed in the pop up boxes that appear when you enter a mission should actually be visible, or audible, in the mission? -
Quote:This reminds me how much I want a Dance Gun temp power.or 3) seek out the Zone Event Elite Boss... the boss is a troll wearing a white leisure suit by the name of John Troll-Volta... He has melee and electrical attacks as well as an AoE sleep attack that makes you dance emote rather than snooze emote..

(Wishful thinking follows...)
Personally I'd like some of the new End Game content to be based around new zones - zones which would be to the current hazard zones what the hazard zones are to regular zones, only more so - active patrols, roaming EBs and GMs, zone events... anything that'll give some challenge to the purple'd out 50s that will go there.
The dark heart of Oranbega? A revamped Shadow Shard? The Rikti Home World? I'd go to zones like that just for the fun of pushing my 50s to their limits. Any further advancement would just be a bonus. -
Quote:I would absolutely love it if they did this with Peregrine Island, since I find the existing PI rather bland. Given the presence of Portal Corp it would make sense to be the first place to be attacked by Cole.So from the previews, videos, and bios they've released so far....I'm thinking Tyrant and his army from the alternate world will actively be attacking our world. I wonder if it will be like Rikti invasions as far as how the war is carried out. I also wonder if any zones will be redone to look as though they are the frontline of a war.
Purely as a defensive measure of course, since Portal Corp is the means by which all these dangerous, uncontrolled, violent Primal Earth 'heroes' like Golden Girl will be travelling across the dimensions to try and disrupt the peace and stability of Praetoria. -
My bookmark for this forum is set to City of Heroes Forums > English, so when I first log in I see the title of the most recent post in each sub-forum including Announcements. If there's something new there I'll take a look at it.

Take a stroll along the streets of Kings Row, where the Skulls bully hapless citizens, Vahzilok body snatchers lurk in every back alley and the Circle of Thorns perform arcane rituals on any hapless citizen that hasn't already been mugged or murdered.
To a right thinking citizen of Praetoria wouldn't Paragon City appear a terrifying and lawless place which could only benefit from coming under the benevolent rule of Emperor Cole? -
This is probably too much of a cliche, but I recall watching a documentary about the Kamikaze pilots and being very taken by some footage that showed one of them taking his sword with him as he got into the plane. Apparently that was quite common.
So based on that I'd make a Katana/ Scrapper. -
Quote:I wouldn't say that of Phipps. His evil is smaller and crueller than that. Someone like Peter Themari I can imagine doing it for the evulz and exulting in it afterwards. Phipps crushes and destroys people because its his job and only gloats about it in secret. Put it a different way, Themari is a boo hiss Villain with a capital V, but Phipps creeps people out because he's so much closer to real world evil. But Recluse doesn't even do that. Recluse is going for Darwinian world domination. If you want mustache-twirling evil, look to Westin Phipps.
As for Tyrant being a reluctant leader - my first thought when I read his bio is 'someone's been reading Richard III', in which, having murdered or imprisoned all of his rivals for the throne, Richard initially refuses the crown, in the full knowledge that the people won't (or can't) take no for an answer. -
Quote:Ah, but who's side is she really on?Would War Witch stay in Pocket D? My villains always appreciate her "Attaboy!" when they learn better villainy through her before going out and committing more crimes.
War Witch (or someone who looks a lot like her) appears in a couple of the fight scenes in the I7 GrandvilleTrailer fighting alongside the villains.
It's good to know the new Lead Dev is one of us. -
If NcSoft/Paragon Studios are expecting an influx of NEW players when Going Rogue goes live they should consider addressing the naming issue. Personally I don't have a problem with the way it is at the moment, but it takes time to get into that mindset, and do we really want any influx of new players to fall at the first hurdle because they want to name their first super hero something obvious and get very very frustrated when they can't?
Alt-itis is a big part of this game for a lot of people, so you don't have situations where a single player holds one or two names, you have a situation where they can hold one or two hundred... -
I don't think I post enough to get on anyone's rage radar.
Although I have noticed that threads about Knockback are excellent places to farm negative rep. -
I'd like to ask all the 'heroes' of Paragon City a question...
So once you overthrow Emperor Cole, will you take responsibility for protecting Praetoria from the Devouring Earth, or will you just head back to Portal Corp congratulating yourselves that 'good' has triumphed?
(Wow, the RPers are going to be in heaven with GR...)
I like that Cole is being given a nicely complex set of motivations, even though I do enjoy Lord Recluse's "I'm Mr Villain, head Villain of Villaintown" routine. Hopefully the Resistance will be similarly portrayed as not 100% good. -
When I go into a bank the music from CoV's heist missions usually starts running through my head.
While daydreaming at work I have worked out which members of my team would be the tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 MM pets. -
Congratulations to all, although given what a touchy subject 'End Game' is in most MMOs I'd hate to be in Positron's metal boots right now. I guess he will be used to it following the MA drama of last year.
So does this mean that the Skulls and the Hellions will be expanded to level 50? I've always had the feeling they're War Witch's favourites, given how utterly brilliant and hilarious their dialogue is. -
I see nothing to worry about. If the game was struggling I'd imagine the devs/marketing/whomever would be throwing info at the playerbase, but it's not so they don't. Besides, they need to hold back some good stuff so they can make a splash on Massively et al closer to GR's release.

+0/x1 to +0/x8 depending on the character, their level and what I'm fighting. Bosses by level 10 or so. I like the variety of larger spawns rather than slogging through the same 3 minions, or 1 minion/1 lieutenant for entire missions.
I also like all of my characters to be capable of soloing missions at a minimum of +0/x1/bosses, even if they mostly team. If they can't then I just can't shake the feeling that I'm not pulling my weight on the team so I'll either work on them until they can do it, or drop them.
I've never ran -1 and I don't think I ever will. Just feels too much like Ultra Easy Mode to me, but I'll readily admit that this probably says more about me than it does about players who are comfortable with that setting. -
I was surprised to see Marvel Universe Online listed in the Most Anticipated category. I was under the impression that one had died, and that parts of the corpse were used to make CO.
