I'm sure those will be waiting for most after the weekend.

Quote:I thought a Dungeons and Dragons MMO could rival WoW.....if they based it on the core 3.5 edition and had the campaign settings such as Forgotten Realms, Dark Sun, Eberron, et al as expansions.A pokemon MMO would dethrone WoW!
Not that I care if WoW stays on top or not. Just saying, I think a Pokemon MMO would get MASSIVE numbers.
But what Dungeons and Dragons online was instead turned out to be anything but.
Too bad. I would have loved to see how epic level characters would have been wailed and gnashed about from most players. I love the Epic Level Handbook, but man, some things in there are seriously overpowered. -
I looked at a youtube comment from a poster 6 months ago saying that "CO would bankrupt this game"
I wonder what he is to say now?
You know, I'm almost petty enough to necropost to that comment so that I can point at him and laugh. -
Quote:This right here. I also feel that there are just too damn many MMOs these days, with too many hoping to dethrone WoW. Good luck with that.Part of the "problem" is that there is a complete and total over saturation of MMOs. There's only so many people who play online games and are willing to pay a monthly fee.
I think the MMO market has just grown too fast. There'll be a crash and then we won't see any new MMOs for 2-5 years.
Even if this game were to end service, I doubt I would ever go to another MMO myself. Nothing else appeals to me at all.
They'll all come back when GR releases. Several people plan to insult the "traitors". (Overheard this one day in PI) -

Quote:Well, it could be worse. We could have not gotten an update AT ALL until Going Rogue.I'm not excited by I17.
The revamp to the Positron TF is long overdue, so I'm glad to see it come in. That it's now a multi-part TF feels odd at first blush, but maybe it will make more sense when I play it.
However, looking at things I'm personally interested in and will do, I see the Posi TF, the two new hero arcs (so: 8 missions) and running around getting the new exploration badges. Which will be what, 4 or 5 hours of play time for my main? (Also, retconning the Posi TF to now include 'dark mirror' opponents seems off to me, but we'll see how it appears in execution.)
I'll appreciate the new graphics and being able to hold more missions (but 7 seems as random as 3 ;-) but none of the QoL things really thrill me. Animated tails? Glad other people are excited by it, but I just don't care.
That said, I recognise that I17 is a prep issue before GoRo. Get some of the kinks ironed out with Ultra Mode and some of the QoL updates before GoRo appears on shelves.
Oh, and I wonder if emailing inf is suddenly going to make the gold spammer's life that much easier. Sure, it will be monitored, but in the initial flurry of its use it is going to be hard to sort out legitimate from illegitimate use.
In the end, not everyone is happy with every issue. As cool as Issue 11 and 12 were, some people still did not like them. But, the surest way to failure is attempting to please everyone at the same time. -
Quote:You know, I've wondered about this myself.....For me it has to be repetitive content, specifically mission maps. Even with MA giving us a boatload of stories ranging from decent to excellent, they are all on the same maps that have been in the game for years. The spawn points are the same. Most maps I can almost run with my eyes closed at this point.
Travel power suppression. I HATE this mechanic. HATE. IT.
Related to the last item, rooting while activating powers. I'd love to see this pretty much done away with, with the exception of a few powers (e.g., snipes, Tier 9 powers, etc.).
Why do so many people use the cargo ship? -

Quote:This right here. I burned out a bit during December, and haven't fully logged in until the first of this month. Played some unfinished (and some unopened) console games. It helped. This, really Pain I've been there and I took a couple months break (though I didn't unsub), and came back. I even now periodically take mini breaks. If the game has gotten boring there probably isn't any amount of new stuff to keep you excited for long.
Take a break, play something else, I generally go for single player stuff myself, and come back when you've got that urge again to play. -
Quote:Well.....what will you do after you've done all the new missions in GR, across all your alts? That is all you needed to say. Ultra Mode while I did upgrade my entire computer for it, is not going to make what I have already done countless times more fun some how. It just isn't. It will look cool, and then honestly it will look how it is Supposed to look. I am also subscribed to Age of Conan, and their graphics are superior atm. I am hoping UM kinda catches up. I can already look alittle to the left and see shadows and water reflections.
I cant find it atm, but I will... It said content update somewhere in one of these 90 million threads... Will find it later.
ZM, Most of this games quality Improvements are stuff other games have had for forever... So, QoL that they may be... They are also nothing new to many people who have wondered why this game constantly is in the dark ages.
I mean, our devs aren't androids that don't need sleep. They are human. New content takes time to make. Time to make sure it works like its supposed to. Time to test. I'm fairly certain they don't purposely not give us new content. (Depends on what your view of content is.) -
Quote:Well seeing as you don't go redside.....even if you ever did, don't worry if you lag a bit in Grandville. I think everyone does.I just upgraded my system from a just good enough video card to a pretty good one.
And went from routinely running on minimum graphics to max. Of course, effects and the overall appearance of the world are MUCH nicer. There are details in the powers, and side effects that I rarely saw because I was usually on either "Low" or "Performance" settings. Like leaves and branches falling out of trees. Semi-persistent rubble and debris from destroying things.
The game seems to even run faster (I upgraded CPU, too). Everything seems to move a little faster, and my load times are only a fraction of what they used to be.
But apparently there are things I have simply never seen because I couldn't run at the highest settings in any kind of group situation.
For example, last night I was in a Hami raid, and left my graphics on max with absolutely no problem. Now, in the past, Hamidon just flashed and disappeared when he was finally defeated at the end of a raid. Last night he did this whole shake, rattle, and BOOM thing that I had never seen before, apparently simply because I was never on a higher graphics setting before.
Wow! I had no idea that was even there.
So what else have I been missing? No spoilers, please, just tell me what I need to be sure to do with my new setup. (Hero side only -- I just can't get into villains.)
Be sure to visit the Shadow Shard as well. -

And it also would have been wrong. The Spartans were Greeks, not Romans.

Quote:TL;DR: Just because someone has a large post count does not mean they don't play the game.OK, Fleeting.... 30 thousand posts in 3 years.... Do you actually play the game, or just bash people that actually do, and are concerned about things they feel are detrimental? I wasn't going on a rampage or something, like you are seeming to imply. All of my points are valid arguments, based on facts and experiences with this and other games.
Whether you like Kheldians or not is irrelevant. They are still meant as a reward. So, complain that its a sucky reward if you want... but I like my kheldians, and I feel my hard work has just been slapped in the face.
Also, you mentioned new end game content.. Again, not relevant. That is great that there is new content for lv 50 characters to participate in, I am excited about that, but that is NOT the same as a reward for reaching 50 for the first time ever.\
And Ion, ok, so getting a 50 isn't hard, it just takes time, right? Same thing with veteran rewards... even less effort required, just time. So, let's just give all the veteran rewards out at the beginning then, since there's no effort lost.
And you all seem to be jumping me about the term "Epic". Yes, the story of the Kheldians is epic, so what is that?
Epic: 1)Noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition, usually centered upon a hero, in which a series of GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS or events is narrated in elevated style.
2) Heroic, majestic, impressively great
3) of unusually great size or extent
Yes, this is true with the Kheldians themselves, but is it to be exclusively that, and the person controlling them needs none of the same requirements? I personally don't think so. As a reward at reaching level 50, a person has shown a series of great achievements, has shown these same traits. They will have a knowledge of the world of CoH that a person who has only reached level 20 can not have. (This is NOT referring to people who exploit aspects of the game, but those who play through the content as intended. Decisions for game content should not be determined by those that utilize exploitation for gain. That is something for developers to work on eliminating, and an entirely different issue altogether.)
That is my opinion, I feel veterans efforts are being completely disregarded, no different than if veteran playtime rewards were given to new players, and I think it is a horrible choice by the developers.
TL;DR of the TL;DR: kry moar plz -
Quote:I really don't want to start over though......Not really. CoV wasn't a sequel to CoH, but an expansion. GoRo is another expansion, the size of which is still to be determined.
If CoH gets a sequel, it will be an entirely new title. To date no MMO sequel I can think of lets you export from from to place in the other; all the sequels I can think of were treated as entirely separate titles (and for a lot of very good reasons). -
Quote:This.. On the plus side, I probably won't need to upgrade either of us again for at least two years.
I wasn't going to do it again myself until 2011, but my motherboard bit the dust last summer, so I went ahead and did it early. The only thing I kept was the DVD drive. I love looking and drooling over my custom parts when I open up the case. -
Quote:I miss the AE farms when it comes to the redside market. It made getting 12 full sets of Crushing Impact VERY easy and very cheap to get. There are times I miss the AE farms, only if for the mad leveling in the low to mid levels. I have a scrapper that REALLY needs to be in Cimerora for storyline purposes, but I'm still two levels away from getting there. And I have a level 12 Corruptor that is really, really squishy. But I'm hanging with doing things by the book redside since I've never really been over there before. But man, my AR/Traps Corr does get chewed up pretty often.

Quote:Heh. Imagine Atlas Park being as large as San Andreas was.If I put vehicles in... they wouldn't be as fast as travel powers!
And... zones need to be that big regardless
(Well, maybe not that big)
*time travels to the future to bring back schematics to make such a thing possible* -
-
If we get vehicles in a sequel, each zone needs to become the size of San Andreas IMO.

Yes, I would also like to know who Romulus' master is.

Quote:You can ignore any other advice given, BUT THIS.Second, practice electrostatic safety. I'm not advocating Largo's "you must be naked" level of paranoia but wearing fleece hoodies in a low humidity environment, where you can hear the crackling of static as you move, isn't good. Common sense rules. Work on a table and not the carpeted floor. Leave any electronically sensitive component in it's static protection until you are ready to install it. While working on the motherboard, use it's antistatic bag as a place mat for it.
I know a guy who spent 500 dollars on a new card, and when he opened it and got home, guess what happened when he didn't discharge the static electricity from his body?
The ranting he did was epic. -
This right here.
I myself would never pay that much for a video card though. Might as well buy another LCD TV if my wife gave me the okay to ever spend that much.
Plus, it's an ATI card. I'm a NVIDIA person.
I do look foward to hearing about your performance though. -
Eww, this problem.
I had this happen to me a little under a year ago. It turns out that the PCI-E slot in my motherboard had gone completely dead.
I'm not saying that this happened to you, OP, at all. If no other suggestions work however......but good luck. -
Quote:LOLIt all depends on the Geek/Nerd Quotient of The Wife in question...
P.S. - When told of your comment, she replied with, "It makes it better to see the porn. More detail."
I met a lady once who said her big screen TV was good for the exact same thing.
If you can afford it, and you have a PCI-E slot in your new PC, I would recommend the NVIDIA 9800GT. I got mine for about 130 dollars a few months ago, though I'm sure the price on it has gone down since then. I would put the performance of it at near the top (if not the top) of mid-range cards.
