  1. I'm sorry but this is no where near as close to what Colossus is.

    His Jacket/Shorts aren't there, and well in all honesty for those that are reporting you for Colossus imitation -- They really need to read the comic/look at him more. >.<;

    I think if anything, Metallic is more at risk of being imitated for Silver Surfer then any other character.
  2. England vs USA does indeed start at 7:30 PM on 12th June.
    Also Formula One is on 12th June too. This would mean that a lot of the union players will be watching the game (for those that interested).

    I unfortunately won't be able to attend this raid/lead the main tank team like you asked. My eyes are dedicated to the world cup, sorry Lady A!.

  6. OnLive would not really be the perfect system for MMOs, it may be able to support World of Warcraft in the future, but City of Heroes.. not so much.

    MMO's tend to work of servers already introduced, it really is "OnLive" in MMO form. OnLive is all about sending you singleplayer/singleplayer+multiplayer features. If you think behind the tech, OnLive is basically turning things into a MMO. Since MMOs are already adapted to servers, tech etc OnLive would create more hassle then anything.

    Edit: Definitely interested in what OnLive has to offer, I was at GDC 09 when it was announced, and it was very exciting news. But wouldn't really see it working for MMOs, its all about high-end games that low-end PC people are at a disadvantage because they cant play. OnLive lets them do that.

    Im not a technical games tester, merely quality assurance however the best route to go is to adopt something very similar to Champions Online is currently using. All global names are unique, however characters under those global names are assigned to that character, yet other globals can create/use the name under their global names too. This would avoid duplicate-character names and having to rename every single character because of it, all that would require is to rename your Global instead (if it conflicts).

    In terms of the server merge talk, and server list merge talk. The best route is to cooldown from the huge resource-dumping on Going Rogue and from Ultra Mode, replenish resources and time and then slowly but surely work on a resolution to fix the current population crisis within CoX EU, and by a resolution it surely does have to be the way of mass-transfer to a american server. This is not currently possible at this time, or wont be possible for several months to come due to resource expense. But it is something they can work on once Going Rogue is signed off.

    It will create a lot of strain not only on the team, and the servers too. But it is something that wont be an immenant thing, more so something that will need to be worked on over time. And waves would have to be introduced if they did make a fully-global server. As I really don't think it would be able to withstand 4 servers suddenly going onto the america ones.

    I don't nessecarily think that a server list merge would create any benefits apart from extra slots, and then in the far future we would have the same problem again. The best way is to get it all out of the way by making everything global. But they introduced seperate geographical servers to prevent mass-strain, so it is really a loss-loss situation right now. It's best for them to sit down, research, and slowly place resources into developing valuable tech to resolve all these issues. People are expecting it immediately though, like months immediately.. Just wont happen.

    PvP badges

    I think kicking someone from a channel may be a little over the top, all because you had been killed by such user within the PVP Zone.

    However my personal opinion on PVP Badges is that, there needs to be a general consensus between the players within the zone to "let it by", if the user is there solely to get a badge and go, then atleast have the respect for that user and let them do what needs to be done so that they can go. Killing someone whilest they are trying for a badge can not only be tedious for that user, but also a cheap-kill (kinda lame guys!).

    But yeah, I rarely do the PVP Badges during normal hours to avoid such things like that. It is a PVP Zone yes, however I wouldn't be in there if it wasnt for the badges. So I just kindly ask to users who are in the zone (if any) to let me by and get on with what I need to. 9/10 times they let it <3.

    If you had read my post, you would know what repercussions would be at the top of the list. Not including all the small things that are bound to happen too.
    Game Engine is 6 years old. - this would cause severe strain issues not only on Database mechanics but also server mechanics IF a server merge was placed.
    IF a server LIST merge was placed this would cause problems such as already taken Global names.
    Enhanced lag for the european sector.
    Why aren't they doing it?

    Lack of Resources, Time Consuming, It is not a viable route to take at this current stage, Ultra Mode is squeezing the engine - just think what this would do.
    Rather then continuing to make replys to this topic in terms of constantly saying "COME ON, STOP FEEDING US *." or "COME ON, JUST DO A SERVER MERGE ALREADY". Please actually sit back with a clear mind and think realistically the implications ahead and the time constraint / resource drain this would put not only on the team but as a franchise..

  12. If your are fully slotted, Heal Other gives a heal of around 500+. Absorb Pain gives just over 1.4k however if you have Power Build Up from the Power Mastery pool you can boost that upto around 2/3k.

    I personally use it as a safeguard for tanks, sometimes tanks can take a massive amount of damage and heal other will not restore their HP significantly during the recharge, so popping a absorb pain on them will make them happy chappys again!

    Sometimes it can replace heal other -- only in the dire moments however.

    Definitely agree, I rarely ever see actual comics in shops. All I have seen was Dandy and Beano. I used to buy those as a kid, but yeah it has never been a big market.

    Edit: Seen Mass Effect comics on sale, but really can't call that a comic.. hard to explain what it is. And it's only due to the success of the game, that those sell nicely.

    The greens, have the trollers/doms chain hold one. I stood outside the blue field (blaster) and sniped at the target when it was being damaged by the holds.

    We discovered that a bubbler will be able to heal within the size of the bubble (amidst the blue field), but things like a blasters snipe will not work from inside the blue field.

    Basically this is spot on, Our first attempt the day before was with a bubbler in our team, whilest he casted his dispersion field and went inside the blue field, I went inside the bubblers dispersion field(i believe its this, forgot what he said) and I was able to heal the team from within that bubble.

    However he wasnt with us on the second attempt, so the team did their upmost best to stick to as close to the edge of the bubble and still try to maintain range so that I could heal them that way. CMs were very important throughout the whole ordeal.

    The best way is for 3-4 holders, one empath, 2 tanks and a blaster. With the current mag levels the Mo-attempt does become quite constrictive in what you want to bring, hopefully when that is lowered and the patch is implemented more AT's will be able to join for the badge!

There was quite a lengthy discussion during the Union Chat late-last night in regards to merging server lists, and allowing mass-transfer of characters to the North American servers as various European players are getting rather cheesed off with the current state Europe is being treated, and the state the server is being treated with too.

    Now, I was wanting to get heavily involved with that discussion, but I was trapped in healing for Statesman TF!, Anyway. The general gist of it is that everyone was angry and demanding that they all make a petition to merge the servers (way to clog up Customer resources btw....)

    And the most sensible thing of it was, (the guys failed to understand this) this game engine is now 6 years old. Ultra Mode took a very long time to create and is squeezing the Game Engine(in my personal opinion). The Passport system allowed characters to be transfered, yes. However for something such as a mass-transfer system, or a mass-server merge.
    This would require heavy resource-input, and even if it is possible for a game engine that is 6 years old, it would be very time consuming.

    People think that the servers would be more instant and non-laggy. However if they are lagging in Germany. Just think how laggy they will become in USA?.

    All in all, the best thing for them to do is to committ more into marketing for europe sector, however as Avatea has said this has not come to fruitition or they have not had offers for such opportunitys.

    The engine limits the amount they can do in terms of a server merge, or a mass-player transfer system. They could bring back the Passport system and reverse it so that EU can go into NA however the amount of players who seem to be wanting to transfer would create even more stress on things.

    It's a very hard issue to resolve. People are expecting things instantly, and that just will never happen. Time needs to be taken, Resources have just been placed into Ultra Mode and are now into Going Rogue.

    They will get around to it, when resources and time and mechanics allow them to get around to it.

  17. There is no exact system requirements for Ultra Mode, and no developer has come out and published details yet.

    Any recently built PC comprising of latest hardware, a good amount of GHz and RAM. Along with a fairly recent graphics card. Will do the trick. (2.7GHz, 4gig RAM, GeForce GT 220) are my stats. And it allows me to run City of Heroes on ultra mode, at full settings. Even with ambient occlusion, reflections, world and character details all on maximum.

    I do know of a few people from my sg and a few others that have dropped EU and joined the NA servers. (I really dislike the segregation and the continued support of the flawed system of seperate server lists)

    However if enough of the circles I hang around with decide it is time to move to NA servers, i would ofcourse go with them. That has to be a vast majority mind you. Friendships within Union are quite strong, strong enough to keep me there. .

    I kinda disagree on that Smurphy, I myself am a "limited" (as kat would say) build. Ever since day one of me making this character she has been focused on Empath, and only Empathy. With only two attacks from Radiation Blast. Many may say that specialized builds are limiting your contribution. But in my eyes, Heals and Buffing are as equally contributive to a team then damage or holding/controlling/debuffing is.

    Okay, they may not exactly be a necessity however they are contributive, just because you don't attack and blow stuff up doesnt make you not contributing. You are merely contributing in some other way.

    I do kinda disagree, but meh. I won't hold it against you. It isn't in my nature to do so.

    Neutronic Girl is only known for her empathy output, one of the notable empaths on the Union server within certain circles. Some of the points raised in this thread, I do disagree with. But heh, thats just opinions.

  25. My build has and always will be a pure-empath build. The toon only has two attacks for example, the rest is all about healing and buffing.

    While I must say that this toon is my main character, there was this discussion a while back. And yes, it is now safe to say that maybe a few years ago a Empath was requested for nearly every team out there. However now.. that doesn't seem to be the case. In a sense the Empathy set is somewhat of a dieing thing now.

    They may not be needed anymore, but they will always be there in their small numbers to help when requested.

    Healing/Empathy is what I do, and enjoy.

    TF's are always wanting such a thing to assist, so i'll continue to use NG. ^^
