Accepted. I sent you a PM, let me know when is good for you.
  2. Don't think you want Dimension Shift into a toggle. Possibilities for griefing would be too great...you're the leader of a SF, you DS the last AV then start em dancing. If you did that, the toggle would need to drop aftrer a set duration (4-8 seconds).

Wormhole is fine. You can just yank mobs and use it as a huge aoe stun, or grab a mob around a corner and use it as a pull. The location AoE idea is interesting though.

This is what the Dark Astoria arcs would have been like.

But I'm finding it difficult to blame them for things like players forgetting instructions they were told ten minutes ago or incorrectly executing an instruction on par with "shoot that, don't shoot that."

The problem isn't complexity, its that the devs need to focus their design energy on making fun complexity. There has to be a learning curve within the trials that rewards stepping up to the complexity, rather than punishing people for every little mistake. Personally, I don't think the trials require any major level of thought to do correctly. But there's not enough balance between rewarding good tactics and punishing tactical errors.
My biggest problem with Keyes is it gets grindly very quickly with all the deaths. We did two Master runs on Champion and the first was fun but about halfway through I just reallised that I would never do this trial without a Master run involved; dying over and over and over, through Personal Force Field, buffs and all sorts of powers just isn't superheroic. It makes me feel like a level 1 fighting Hellions. On top of that, the vertical nature of the trial makes it hard to keep up with teammates; you eventually do find them and use the temps, but needing Anti-Matter for two more reactors, while not shooting him is a bit much. On top of that, you get punished for attacking him and it's likely he'll get hit with a stray shot every now and then. Needlessly punitive plus adopting a mode of play contrary to the entire game is pretty annnoying.

On an Underground Trial now and though we got wiped at the Extinction War Walker, no one is complaining. We're having FUN because we know we can overcome the challenges with a minimum of coordination and we're not being needlessly punished. There are steps where you need to work as a group more than usual and that's fine. I do hope that the devs keep the unresisted damage/debuffs to an absolute minimum, otherwise why am I slotting all these IOs and capping my health anyways?
  6. My globals are @Neuronia/@Neuronium, in case we want to use something on account two.
  7. I very, very much disliked this arc. It made too many assumptions and was basically nothing more than a wall of text, nay a moutain of text telling me about the villains' motivations.

    *SPOILERS*

Why is one threatening to extract my eyes? What if they aren't in my physionomy? What if I'm a robot? What if I'm blind? And why don't I just cut him down right there and then?

Why should I even *trust* any of them? I'm meant to do a challenge...for them? I'm *their* challenge? *I* am the active protagonist here. Where are my motivations? Why do I even *care* about these scrubs?
Oh, ok...we go to Galaxy City but wait...isn't GHOST WIDOW there?
Doesn't she see these heroes rampaging and can't SHE deal with them?
There is an Arachnos Flyer there right? Why isn't Longbow protecting the heroes at all? What kind of hero doesn't bring a team (I know, soloists, guilty as charged) or some backup? They're all just going to run through stage left and impale themselves on my katana? Ok...

I do get they had to introduce trainers, enhancements and so on. That's fine. But to treat me as some kind of pawn in their game...that's worse than any of the Arachnos stuff, because at lesat there you see the Destined One stuf at work. I'd much prefer if future arcs had less "WALLS OF TEXT" and a little more action and a chance to at least settle scores with people. I mean...Surgeon guy disappears. Robot Gal gets killed by her own robot. At least two of the four you can't even harm. Just brutal.
I get not attacking Scirocco because YOU WILL EXPIRE. He's a patron.
    But the other four?

I felt as if I were doing things against common sense and completely against my character's volition here. Granted, there is a little immersion in any arc, but this one was way, way, way over the top.

We could change it to wAsabi Badgers, need that capitalized second letter.

    Also, nice. GL all.
  9. I'm going to be doing Masque's Duel ladder seeding thing at that time >.< but this should be great. You might want to disallow the going rogue proc enhancements though, otherwise SOUNDS CRAZY FUN!

    Responded to your PM.

I mostly PvE on Champion, Infinity, Pinnacle. I'm only on Freedom for Kickballs or League stuff.

    They aren't though.

If you are RP oriented, you know of the tag system (LBMA, etc) and can just type those in. All this talk of "real" missions is pretty elitist; a mission in this game has objectives and a completion. Certainly you're free to read the text and immerse yourself, but some of us (points to self) have been here close to 10 years. I've run through some of the Dev's Choice stuff. Some of it is great and others have EBs or AVs with very little warning. Another arc is just the same mission, FOUR TIMES with some mission text changed, which was tiresome to complete. After the second run through the mission, I just sped to the objectives.

Think of AE like a food court:

Do you want instant gratification (A&W, KFC)? It's there.
Do you want something "healthier" (Sbarro, Sushi places)? It's there.
Do you want something more adventurous (Mix & match places like Thai Express)? It's there too!

Government can tax the potato chips but if someone wants to gorge on them...it's on them. I don't. I have them occasionally and leave the snackers on their own. Likewise, the developers cannot stop players from achieving level cap as quickly as they wish, short of utterly drastic measures such as playing X missiosn per day, which would be a complete disaster.

City of Heroes Freedom...to run whichever missions you'd like (Papers, AE, TFs, Trials, Tips) or just have to go through sanctioned content? Not to mention there are some great arcs that never ever get noticed by the Devs...and their selection of Dev's Choice has never been really explained outside of "We like this more".

You can use an Ouroboros Portal for the same purpose. That's what I did, as finding exits is a waste of time preventing me from getting to the next mission and subsequent reward.

Once that didn't work, O-Portal did. If that hadn't, I would have logged out and logged back in...which leads me to another rant about these stories and how they don't impact the game world AT ALL.

Overall I quite enjoyed the arc, still wondering how Emperor Cole/Nemesis/Mr. G is doing all this without anyone in the Phalanx finding out...

    Sure, someone will die but...*SPOILERS*

The Lost are draining Synapse's energy. You would *THINK* that Mynx, standing no more than fifteen feet away and having known him for what, close to ten years, would know about this or at least notice. Or, like, anyone. And hey, didn't Lord Recluse also have a device that could drain superpowers from metahumans (Oh, that's right at level 20 you don't know this, but the Phalanx sure do!) and thus Statesman at the very least would have spoken with Synapse about it and they MAY have some kind of counter to this sort of stuff? I sure hope that there is some kind of logic behind all this, since every member of the Phalanx is going to get "bugged" and hey, they never talk to each other or communicate...especially not Numina who is a ghost and in touch with at the very least, Positron...which is going to make that arc particularly interesting for the story writers.

Here's the thing, I agree with Doritos Guy.

If you draft, say...Player X and they have a huge sense of entitlement but you HAVE to play them then it becomes an issue on the team and the team doesn't want to play for them, they start tanking, their time and fun is spoiled.

I've been on teams where this happened, lots of drama and it never ends well. You're MUCH better off being with people you like and going from there, improving or hell maybe you're a bench warmer but at least you have a global or Vent channel to go to and shoot the crap. I remember on Awesome Avengers we had Fire/Kin guy...who really wanted to play his Fire/Kin...and Hank took the time to sit with him and tell him maybe we can make you a good build or you can get something PLd but he raged and took his ball and went home; the rest of us worked with what we had and it was a blast.

At the very least you should be showing up to practice, willing to respec and that sort of stuff so you learn something. If you're going into that draft, be committed to the Sunday night matches and to practices and your teammates. CoH is about the farthest thing from hardcore anything but that doesn't mean you bail on teammates and so on...or that you start drama about them. Oh no, you ended up on a team that's getting rolled. Improve your evasion routes, get some Respite binds, judge your phase better etc etc. Eventually it'll be fun and that's the whole point, a fun game and league for everyone...

    10 Years of CoH

My partner got the game from a friend and they were supposed to all team up and stuff, it looked like a ridiculous conceit to dress up as supers and fly around and shoot stuff. He went on to play WoW, I won't use the words he described CoH with on his own first impression.

That was around Issue 4...oddly enough just as I start the game people start raging about defense being nerfed, Fire Tankers being nerfed, all this stuff and it did not improve when Issue 6 and Enhancement Diversification kicked in. Still, the costume creator is a keeper and the amount of powers and the pvp gameplay got me hooked early on....and I'm here almost 8 years later, wow.
  17. Nites of Darkness is going to make an elitist branch of elitist TF/Trial runners, of course. Just waiting on X-Funk to decide on an appropriate name.

I'll be using a server transfer to move something there for the Dev events but overall I'll be sticking to Champion, Infinity, Pinnacle and Freedom for PvP.
  18. Expecting a huge patch on live but nothing on the NCSoft Launcher, which is odd...

Just going to do some work around the house, bake some oatmeal cookies and get the chicken shishkebab ready for tonight...

This game does an extremely poor job of subtracting currency from characters. I remember I played a certain fantasy MMO also by NCSoft and my money was spent on cosumables, spells, etc. and I never ever felt I had "too much". At level 20 I had enough for decent items and I never got past 30 because I got bored.

Not really sure what they can do about this, short of increasing crafting costs, market listing costs or just giving us something to spend on.
The Incarnate salvage conversions were nice. At 100,000,000 for a Very Rare (?) I was sinking inf in those left, right and centre. Conversion to Alignment Merits at 20,00,000 a piece isn't bad but it isn't enough. I mean...I sell an average crafted recipe and get 20,000,000 so big deal.

Maybe they need to take that leap and make stuff like badges, accolades and costumes purchaseable through influence. MARTy is going to be interesting. They're going to throttle XP and INF gains in some cases, but who knows if that will even do anything...since people have inf stocked away.

One concern is if the IO Boosters actually turn items into, say, level 52 or whatnot, you might see some bids filled and money changing hands...but not lost.

Oh, for an inf sink of epic proportions...

P.S. Just on a lark I've been storing small amounts of inf on a PvP IO. There were 718 bids (!) and none for sale, the last five were at inf cap...sounds like an problem.
  20. In some cases IOs at level 46, 48 or so will be on sale for quite less than the level 50 equivalents.

When I was "strapped" for cash (ahem), I locked a Mastermind at level 33 and just ran villain tips, cashing the Alignment Merit for five recipes. In the end I made hundreds of millions off my sales, sent that ot my banker and so on. Remember that you can get an Alignment Merit every two days, so you can get the recipe you want every four days and much quicker if you run TFs to get Reward Merits and do the conversion that way.

Also, you can always post here on the forums or ask in "The Market" global channel about the items you seek and nice people might make a deal with you.

    This.

When you can make 200,000,000 every two days and Single Origin enhancemetns cost 1,500,000 for a full set...and there are literally no influence sinks, what's a player to do? You buy Invention Origins and ameliorate your character, then advance to Incarnate trials, which will likely drop a purple that you can sell for hundreds more millions.

Right now I'm sitting on multiple times the inf cap...and I have nothing to spend it on. Sure, I'll level a PvP toon or two for the new league and spend on Gladiator's Javelin procs or somesuch, but I'll still be making moeny hand over fist. It's a shame the developers don't have someone monitoring the market (Synapse used to, is he still around?) or at least producing some sinks for our excess play money. Heck, I'd throw inf into the slot machines at the Giza even if they coughed up inspirations or crap recipes.

Prices aren't really too high...we just have too much play money and it doesn't disappear, it just changes hands.
  22. As long as the explore badges and history plaques needed for Freedom Phalanx Reserve are avaiable in the Ouroboros version, then not at all.
