Quote:I want items and I want to know how much they cost. How is it bad that people can manipulate the market? It seems like some people feel that it's a problem when you can't get exactly what you want for exactly what you were initially planning to pay, right now. The fact that you might occasionally have to adjust your expectations or, heaven forfend, use a bit of strategy makes it all the more interesting than if it were a simple auction house.
I want to pay 500 for my salvage or whatever anytime I log in.
I want to pay 100,000,000 or whatever for a LOTG 7.5 at any level.
I want to pay X for purples.
Having to bid, then re-bid, then re-bid, bores me.
Having to list, then re-list, then re-list, bores me.
That the Devs won't simply put all the IOs in the Paragon Store so I can just avoid the whole thing is infuriating to no end.
Don't get me wrong, I have enough inf that I can buy anything I want. I'd just rather get it from an ingame vendor than have to deal with the vagaries of the market. -
Quote:Dad used to have this craaaazy train set.My dad also used to get train sets for my brothers before they could even talk
And welcome back
It wsa basically a three foot wide, 6 foot long wooden slate with greenery, villages and so on added on; the train would go through tunnels and stop every now and then, just crazy. Of course, I was more interested in the instruction manuals.

Quote:I am - what are the examples of Ms. Liberty being unpleasant in the game?
- She's set up a paramilitary group and invaded a part of the Rogue Isles.
- She's taken a hissy fit over her grandfather taking a leave, leading to...
- Her refusal to allow a Freedom Phalanx member to help with Malaise.
- Oh, she's also got a group of Longbow trying to subert the Vanguard.

Quote:True story:You forgot the ponytail. Nothing simultaneously says "I can haz supervillainy?" and "I fathered a 'Jersey Shore' cast member" quite like a slicked-back ponytail.
I once was in a tabletop gaming group and one of our members had:
-Ponytail
-Dark glasses
-Goatee
He was the stereotypical villaintype and also hatched a plan to turn Ottawa into a giant battery for his purposes; it's been a while but I think he was going to use the Ottawa River/Rideau Canal and fill it with acid/other stuff so he could go thermonuclear. Since all of us would get a cut of the proceeds, we encouraged this to no end. -
I make characters very sparingly. I'd rather make one, accolade and IO it then Incarnate it and then move to the next.

Quote:USing Ouroboros to afk it's an exploit, it's smart. Used to do it for damage farming when Born in Battle was 10,000,000 damage or something stupid. And it is an exploit because you have to trick the game in order to not go afk. I here nothing about that at all. As long as they or their friends benefit it is all ok and it is ok to bash me. This Nightbabe person is one of them that broadcast things on that channel when she was not there nor did she ever fight me at all, but had to say some words on the matter. Warning people of me being in that zone is no problem at all, but when you start sheading a bad light by what you say on a player through your channel without having a clue yourself because you were not there is just wrong.
I not only attack farmers but players there hunting me. I go face to face all the time and no one else complains. No on else says anything but "good fight". I chat all the time in Warburg in broadcast but they make it sound like I hide and only attack afk players etc, etc. I am just so tired of hypocritical comments that I see and my ex sees. People that are not involved should simply shut up. Beyond that I have no problem at all. : D
Anyway I have a new stalker to kill with. I will be playing Sarita Deadly from now on.
I've seen all of two people in Warburg the past month or so. One was a Fire Controller under the missile silo, slowly killed him by spamming Block of Ice and Nemesis Staff with rad toggles. I saw a PB fly by the other day while getting a nuke. Oh, Slax was on Fridgerifica about 6 months ago during a Dev event that ended in Warburg.
Just turn off broadcast in PvP zones and fight or flee. WIth TS still around in zones, chances are the fleeing will be a bit slower though.
P.S. I hope that Stalker has sharks and procs, Assassin's Strike isn't what it used to be. -
Smaller, solo path, I'm ready for any of it right now.
Just too much of pain herding cats, asking them to use temps, to click powers and to make sure all of them have fun.
Just give me a way to get my threads and salvage and I'll be glad to help teams that need it. -
Quote:OMG Z IT"S A BUNCH OF STICKS!For those hoping for Staff Fighting in January...
Yeeeeeeeaaaahhhh...about that.
Staff Fighting hasn't even hit beta yet. Sometime during Issue 22 is our expected release of the new purchasable Power Set.
Go outside the studio, get some twigs, film them and move the film to the computer box and add DPS calculation!! NAO. Holidays are over folks more work more powerz!!!!!!!!!11111!!!!!!

The review was super fair.
The sounds and music ARE lacklustre; sure when you get more powers you get more whizbang but it would be nice to have mores sounds around you or at least more music.
I get what he's saying about combat, but it's inverse to other games.
Big Box MMO: Click powesr but they "build up" and then shoot.
Here: Button mash but then wait for them to come back.
It would be ineresting (for someone else) to compare how long a full attack chain takes in City of Heroes vs. Big Box A and New Shiny A. -
The only DEF on my Fire/MM Blaster is from PFF, Maneuvers and Hover and you can't shoot in fayse while in PFF. However, I do have 35% damage bonus with Assault on...so stuff dies and quickly at that.
Just hit 50 with her on Infinity server redside, working on the incarnate junk now.
Edit: The live build has 3 level 50 Fly IOs in Swift and not Micros. Same with Fly, couldn't scrounge the 4-6 Micros I wanted.

Dreamwalker is getting close to a breaking point for me.
Having to reset and farm the first mission for RANDOM arch-villains is tedious at the very least. We've been trying to get a friend on Pinnacle (@Catatomic) the Jack in Irons AV and we literally rest about 10 times last night and never got it.
This badge is stupid. Make it "Defeat 6 (or 10) of Malaise's Nightmares to earn this badge" and it will be much, much more bearable. As it is, it's like the old "Cage Fighter" badge in Arena before map selection was available. Just load in, exit and load in and exit and load in and exit over and over until you get your explore badge.
Blech.
On topic, I'm getting to 1,000 badges on my main then just getting any new ones as they come. Too may tedious badges out there for me to bother anymore. -
Trip Mine is fine.
I have a +3 Dual Pistols Traps that does great on I-Trials. In BAF, he parks himself at the NW exit (where Siege spawns) and basically drops 10-12 trip mines, some acid and so on. Any escaping prisoners just blow up nicely.
Even on regular teams, you can set up fairly efficiently and if the team is really nice they'll let you set up and pull into them. A good Traps is an asset to ANY team. As for the rest of the concept, there really isn't a lot of "out of combat" stuff that's egregious. The healing tree and beacon and maybe caltrops and a few others. Unless you're zerg-rushing EVERYTHING, these playstyles should be adaptable to any team... -
My tokens being squared away within the next month is keeping my sub active. After that, my completist aspect will be happy and I'll just use the tokens on super boosters of the pets or...who knows.
My secondary account is also VIP but is about to unlock Assemble the team so you'd think it would not be a great loss, but when it lapsed two days ago I lost access to several billion in holdings so that got fixed in a hurry. -
Quote:If you read your status bar the explanation is there. The Telepathists are weakening you to the point that you are quite vulnerable to mundane things.Yes, precisely, except that the first line never happened. The character just gets defeated by a normal rock, thrown by a normal person, with no explanation presented, and fans are left scratching their heads as to how or why until they read the letter column on the last page. Sure, the explanation is there, in the very same issue, but only if you go looking for it specifically.
Cheesy? Sure it is. But it's at least a little interesting.
Going to agree with the lack of interest in WoW style raids. People (seem to) want a butto-mashing fest against the newest, shiniest big bads. And more big bads in costumes with cutscenes. Someone seems to want some of the big bads to have artifically large cleavage too; hopefully War Witch gets us some guys in tights to look at in the near future. -
If I *like* a character it gets:
Invader
Born in Battle
High Pain Threshold
3-5 LoTG 7.5
Purples
Incarnates to T3.
From there, it's a matter of making distinct costumes, a nice backstory and enjoying the journey. -

Quote:The Devs don't care. As soon as PvP IOs went live PvPrs discovered that they simply did not drop during normal PvP activity, due to players trying to evade damage and spikes, an action contrary to the intent of PvP IO drops.Okay, I understand the reasoning behind MARTy.
The game is susceptible to buff stacking until it's broken. I get that.
But the AFK PVP IO farming?
That Is Utterly Egregious. (Look up the damn word if you have to.)
People are making STUPID levels of rewards, WHILE THEY ARE ASLEEP. The most profitable way TO PLAY YOUR GAME, is to do it while you're sleeping.
Really Dev's? Is this the play style you WANT to promote?
DO SOMETHING.
During the last league on Freedom, the team that tore through everyone else generated maybe a handful of drops at that. I got a Glad Jav triple in a practice.
PvPers need MULTIPLE glad jav procs and MULTIPLE of everything else. If you don't want us farming, RAISE THE DAMNED DROP RATE so that we can get our stuff faster. Then they will sell for 50-100,000,000 like most other stuff outside purples and we'll all be happy.
Quote:Most of the PvP sets do not have very good bonuses for PvE.
And the most sought after PvP unique, the Gladiator Unique has all of its true value wrapped up in 3% DEF for 2 to 2.5 billion.
The Steadfast Unique provides the same bonus for about 15 to 30 million.
I personally think the devs should shut down PvP AFK farming by actually making the system for earning PvPs through actual PvP more attractive.
I'd like to see the devs give real value to the people who actually do want to PvP and make the system for drops attractive to them, unlike the nightmare it is now where going AFK for 18-20 hours and farming yourself is the best method.
Quote:AFK PvP farming is easy to stop if you want to do something about it yourself:
Kill the character doing the farming. Only one of them will be set to auto-rez, because the other is set to auto-attack. Kill the one auto-attacking and their farming is ruined.
I've seen tons of farms around Warburg. Just find them, attack the farming toon and they have to come back to the keyboard by going to the hospital and setting up again. Then, KILL THEM AGAIN. I remember X-Funk (when he was around more) actually went server to server wrecking farms, was hilarious.
Agreed. I want Glad Jav Procs, +3% Defense proc for my friends (could care less about it myself) and some Panaceas. Getting them through Alignment or Empyrean Merits is hilariously slow so we need to farm them... -
Quote:One of my best friends is a (retired) Dom. Floggers, bondage chairs, the works. This is ridiculous. All the sadists and masochists I know are really great people. You make them sound like monsters.
She's awesome and it's just a quirky part of her life.
I'd never do that myself, mind you.
I have a niece and she plays CoH on my accounts at times. I let her fiddle with the designer sometimes and she runs around beating stuff up. She really likes using Force Bolt on Hellions.Since I am always there when she plays, the profanity filter is always on and we run missions that are "G" rated.
Silver Mantis is a BDSM lark. There are way worse villains in the game...Lord Recluse totalled a building and assassinated President Marchand, Westin Phipps poisons people and prevents education, Doc Buzzsaw has you recover body parts off living people...the list goes on. There's some horrid stuff going on in the Rogue Isles and Paragon City (big homeless problem all over for one).
In the end, it's up to YOU to set your limits and your child's limits.
I personally do not report people for swearing. I only report for threatening and harrassing behaviour. To each their own there though. -
-
Well, I remember in the old D&D books demigods and gods had a slew of abilities:
They went first in combat.
They had massive travel speeds.
They could control weather (not so relevant here).
They could summon huge allies (think the most elevated "angels").
They had precognitive abiltiies so they gained an Initiative bonus, if they didn't just precede you in combat.
They had a slew of combat buffs.
They had a variety of "spell-like abilities" on top of all that (Magic Missile X times per day, Dispel Magic X times per day, etc. etc).
They could (in some cases) grant wishes.
In other words, they were pretty OP.
Basically, demigods should have abilities that make them numerically better than normal players of the game but not so much that they are undefeatable. -
It does indeed work, even so on AVs. :-)
Just slotted it on my Mind Controller and it's awesome. -
25 minute or so RSF last night, speed ITF/STF, near-invinciibiity and some of the trials are still challenging?
Darn tootin' I'm having more fun! -
Quote:That code would be awesome. It would be an either/or for the whole group.
If the consensus is Costume Code, I can do the Rula-Shin costume code.
As to competitive prizing, the goal of offering costume codes is to incentivize participation as opposed to rewarding only the winners. If you guys have prizing you want to award as the organizers of the event, more power. For Paragon's lot, we just want to show our appreciation for those who are participating in PvP.
In before "show us your appreciation by removing HD and TS."
Also, is this a new policy on the winners not getting virtu-bling (at least forum titles)? Even back in test days there was some stuff awarded. -
I have rolled all of two Stalkers in my seven years here.
The first was my initial villain Revenge on Champion, a Nin/Nin Stalker that I paired wth another Nin/Nin. We had lots of fun with them but he's been permashelved.
I made a Kinetic/Melee Regen recently for a duel ladder and it did "ok" but landing AS was tedious so it ended up being Sharks and Concentrated Strike from Hide most of the time.
That aside, for all the good it did to have increased crits, I just lagged behind others in anything but boss and Elite Boss or Archvillain fights. There, I could do a hefty amout of damage to targets but against most content it was just "Fireball, Psychic Shockwave, Ion Judgment, next spawn" so I'd have to just take what I could get.
Oddly enough, a RL friend finally joined CoH and rolled...a Stalker as his first AT. He doesn't know anything about the game and is having lots of fun so I rolled an Illusion/Forcefield to help him out, ideally I can set up AS with Blind and such and give him some buffs with the shields. Stalkers are fun but I just roll a Scrapper or Brute when I want to go wild on melee. -
Quote:Yeah, I got a few of the Con ones from recent events and so on, a Vicky MK VI and Carnival Ring Mistress among others...well two Ring Mistress codes because an ingame friend wanted one badly. They are usually one of the ones they have given out at con's, pax, meet and greets etc. Like the Rikti mentalist, Victoria, Ghouls etc.
Gratz WARE and FAP.
