Quote:Misread this as "We're"...need to get the fog from my glasses it seems! Thanks Texas_Justice for pointing it out.
- We've not given a release date for any Powerset to be released via the Paragon Market beyond a weeks notice.
Although, to be fair War Witch's address did tell us that Beast Matery would be out in March...
Quote:Just as I will step in and say something when comments are going over the top towards development, I am doing the same thing with Marketing. You are more than encouraged to be critical of our practices, and to express your feedback as such. What is not acceptable are the personal insults we've seen as of late. This needs to stop. Our Business Development/Marketing team has been very successful in their strategy behind the Paragon Market release calendar, so let's please give them the credit they deserve for doing their part to help keep City of Heroes strong and sustainable for the foreseeable future. -
Yeah, I do have paired costumes for RP groups but otherwise it's incredibly hard to find duplicate costumes, which does a lot to break the monotony of the game.
Also, ty for playing my arc and the feedback dug. -

My mostly human form PB, added Nova at level 41 or 44 I think...slotted some Kheldian IOs, got her some recharge bonuses and extra HP, all the HP accolades and Clarion Tier 3 and now she rocks.

Quote:Well, if you go in the direction that Hero1 is based on Arthur (of Arthurian lore, not Dudley Moore's character....) then he could well have had a child (though if memory serves, that would be getting into non "G" material as to the source)...though there really isn't any evidence of this ingame.I'm making a Hero 1 themed character, planning on having him be a mutant child who was 12ish when his father went through the portal. My question is do we know if Hero 1 had any canonical children? He was in a romantic relationship with Lady Jane, but I don't recall anything explicitly saying they had a child. Which would leave room for this character. Am I right about that though?

Quote:Then you need new whips. All the tools exist in game:I'm not a programmer either, but I imagine some of our programmers are gnashing their teeth at this statement
.
1)Take Atlas Park/Cap au Diable/Nova Praetoris maps and use them as backgrounds;
2)Seed your characters in a kind of visual turnstile, the tech exists in the costume creator with the left/right arrows;
3)Use a zoom tool to approach/decrease distance to characters.
So...yeah, probably a few weeks tops and I'm sure the programmers have SOME free time... -
Quote:I don't mind the idea of Dream Doctor as a whole, I just dislike the whole hand-waving aspect that surrounds him.Let the record show that not a month ago there was a giant thread about how heroes never get wins and everything is gloom and doom. Now Dream Doctor has facilitated some wins. I guess my question is have we waited too long to unite against how overpowered Dream Doctor is and how all this winning is taking all the fun out of the game?
If you are going to talk about "Dreamspace", then a good parallel is H.P. Lovecraft's "Dreamlands" and its associated access to it in the Call of Cthulhhu role-playing game. In that aspect, you were able to go to the Moon and other areas of the Dreamlands through drug use, magical spells and so on...but it wasn't really limited to one person doing so. The problem with dream or astral travel or planar travel is that...other beings clue on it and exploit it. Again, if Dream Doctor is going into Dreamspace, it begs the question as to why others are not doing so. Where are the Illithids of this game? Or the Gugs and Ghasts? Or the Freddie Kruegers? If Dream Doctor is the only one that can do this...that's veering dangerously close to making him a deity or a Well in and of his own right.
We are never given a sufficient explanation of the whole Dreamwalking thing. Even Michael Moorcock, when he explored this in The Fortress of the Pearl, allowed for dreams to be tied to foci and the main protagonist could be kidnapped or killed for her abilities. It's fairly lazy for the devs to use hand-waving this late in the game when event the Circle of Thorns and Mu have SOME explanation to their motives and origins. -
I'm mostly sick of Dream Doctor actually. He's the new Wesley Crusher and if you thought Penelope "I Win" Yin was bad...I can't wait until he goes away and we get someone less omnipresent to chain our story arcs (for example Dean MacArthur, Zolner, any of the heroside contacts like Roy Cooling or Jeni Adair).
The whole "Dreamspace" thing is super lame and another Deux Ex Machina.
I have the same response to this as I did to any of my GMs.
"Cool, NPC X can do this, why can't I?"
"Well, they're a story-driven character..."
"If we don't show up you don't have a story to tell, how do we develop these abilities?"
And so on and so on... -
Redside is low-pop for sure, but I've found I can get on a few teams running sewers until 20 or so, then hop into Drowning in Blood while running story arcs in between. I mostly run red on Infinity and I've not had a problem yet finding teams in between a half-dozen LFG channels, Help and our SG coalition.
It looks like Night Ward is Coop, so perhaps some more people will gather there as well. -
-
I hope so, but I doubt it. Marketing seems averse to put stuff on the market that is actually in demand....so the thousand plus points I have on my accounts will remain inert for the moment.
-
No recharge bonuses on the Controller and Dominator ones...will not be getting these off the market.
-
Would be nice but what a design nightmare...you'd be in a robot, a head-up might appear for you to attack through...then what happens when you get shot? I'd love for some sleek anime tech armor though...

Quote:I had everyone on mute for the second match on Vent (not on purpose) so was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Strategy? What strategy.dUmb vs THU match just finished, scores as below:
Round 1 : 18-11 dUmb
Round 2: 23-22 THU
Round 3: 20-14 THU
THU takes it overall but it was a super close bout, great fight kids.

So...anyways...looking from this from another angle, how about a "Second Inherent" for Scrappers, since Doms have two primaries and all that.
Anyways...
BRAVADO:
"Scrappers LOVE to fight, and not just in small doses. They love it all, from single foes to massive bar brawls. Fighting will fill your Bravado's power bar. When the bar fills, the Scrapper expends his energy into an insane burst of violent fury. Additionally, each of the Scrapper's teammates gains a small bonus to damage, since a good fight always invites a crowd!"
Numbers:
Basically, it's a Dom bar that fills for Scrappers like Fury would for Brutes or Domination does for Dominators.
Once you click it, you would get one of:
Guaranteed crits for next X seconds?
HUGE damage buff to self (+75% damage?) and a smaller buff to teammaes (+12.5%)?
A "Terrorize" cone effect? Not really in flavour for the idea though.
Benefits:
Wouldn't require Devs to sort through each attack set's damage mods.
Fire and forget nature, doesn't need tweaking or balancing for IOs or anything.
Would help against large targets and just allow overwhelming of weaker foes.
Weaknesses:
Need to re-code a powerbar for an older AT.
MOAR DAMAGE might not be the solution here.
A team buff might be too much. -
It was enjoyable and the Developers probably did one thing here that they should apply to ALL their arcs...avoid over-exposition! There are very few more annoying things than to have to click through "TEXT" "Option A/Option B" "TEXT" for about five minutes then go to a mission where you gain NOTHING for your time spent...yes, I mean YOU Dr. Graves and Twinshot is not far behind.
Just give me the facts then let me smash faces. Delightfully, this arc did both. -
PRoblem is not necessarily Scrappers (or any Melee AT), but perhaps the high Smash/Lethal resistance of foes farther on in the game. Takes longer to kill stuff, so you either bring more reds or justcall on range ATs to do to the job for you since they offer controls etc.
Not sure you really want to "Fix" Scrappers, unless you turn them into some crazy Hybrid like Kheldians with their buff system:
1)If you are around Controllers/Dominators, they gain a small amount of status protection;
2)If you are around Defenders/Corruptors, their damage increases somewhat;
3)If you are around Brutes/Scrappers, increase to Fury generation/crit chances;
4)If you are around VEAT/Kheldians, Offer them a slight regen rate bonus;
5)If you are around Stalkers/Blasters, offer them a slight Defense bonus;
6)If you are around Tankers/Masterminds, boost their recharge rate or recovery somewhat.
And that's all pie in the sky...and probably a heck of a coding nightmare, not to mention that the other ATs will all be in a kerfuffle. Might just be better to go the other wasy and lower the damage caps of a few ATs to make sure Scrappers are the top of the top, but that seems undesireable and unfair to Blasters, for instance. -
Quote:Yes.Clarity for me, just being very very sure about things:
They MUST be acquired in order. You MUST stay at the checkpoint whilst the person ticks you off the list. Acquiring the badges in ANY other order disqualifies you.
Did I get that right? Because this is *large indeed*. Changes everything.
Again, you start in AP/Mercy and get the close badges, THEN go to Cap/Skyway, THEN to IP/Sharks THEN to PI/Grandville THEN to your finish line.
You can't just get on your bike and roll into Paris to get the Yellow Jersey.
I will be online in BMT of Champion before the event if any questions are asked and will be in AP a little before 9 as well, to check people's badges, levels and all that stuff.
GL HF. -
You need at least 41-42 points of KB protect or you'll be caught in juggling animation.
Need capped HP.
Try to scrounge some PvP IOs for the extra range.
You don't really need two recharge in Phase since it can be used only every two minutes.
TK is popular for some builds, think Soul Storm is as well.
Get in touch with Mr Liberty on the forums, he can probably offer vastly better advice on Rad/Psis, even cheapy builds. -
What Four said.
Organized Arena pvp is pretty much comatose if not dead. Head to Freedom or Virtue, level some alts up and accolade/IO them then shoot people in RV. -
Quote:It's still closer than taking the ferry.Okay, that is a nice advantage. I know of two or three other exploration badges in PI that wouldn't mean instant death. Choosing one of those might even things out a bit.
Edit: It puts you a few feet from Crimson, over 500 yards from the badge. <.< -
What happens to the world is out of our control. We can only make a difference in small doses. We knew the spit was going to hit the fan and the Developers were never going to destroy Primal Earth since it's the basis for the game.
Praetoria is an alternate starting point. We never actually meet Cole there anyway, we just get to learn about the place and there were so many different forces pulling to and fro that it was inevitable something would break. Dictatorships can only last so long before pushback occurs.
Mechanics question:
What level is Cole and what level are the mobs? -
And... it's not in any order, is it? I don't *have* to get them in the order listed, do I? If so... that's important. Very important.
Checkpoint 1: Patriot badge inside City Hall;
Checkpoint 2: Purifier badge in Skyway City (Northeast corner of zone);
Checkpoint 3: Unlucky badge in northwest Independence Port ( Freedom Corps office);
Checkpoint 4: Portal Parter badge west of Crimson, Pergerine Island.
The checkpoints are as stated.
You start under Atlas, go to City Hall and get Patriot. Then you go to Skyway City and get Purifier, then you go to IP and get Unlucky, then you go to PI then zoom to Portal Court.
Redisde start in Mercy, then go to Cap, then Sharkhead, then Grandville. -
Quote:I rolled a level 4 Bubble Defender on Champion (villain) and a level 4 Electric Brute on Victory (no base access) and got them done in about 8-10 minutes, give or take a few rezzes for the Council base marker.
Unless you have access to the SG portals, you are going to lose. Badly. It will not even be close, *especially* red side. You can cut the time down by half, easily, as I see things on Vidiotmaps, being a Villain. Be like bringing a Yugo to a Top Fuel drag race if you didn't have the portals, it's that bad/good an advantage.
Blue:
The IP teleporter takes you south of the hospital and you still have to hoof it to the NW corner of the zone.
The Skyway teleporter takes you into Land of the Lost...get that Flight travel going quickly to avoid those purple Lost mobs.
The PI teleporter takes you a few feet from the Portal Parter marker. You still need to hoof it to Portal Court, not overly difficult with the right travels.
Redside:
The Grandville portal takes you inside Arbiter Daos' enclave. You can take the lifts to the Gutter from there.
The Sharkhead Isle portal takes you into Potter's Field, a good 400-500 yards from your badge marker.
The Cap au Diable portal takes you to dead center of Aeon City, still need to hoof it somewhat.
If Speed Boost is a concern, I will allow people to shut off external speed buffs at Null the Gull in Pocket D prior to showing up.
I will be on my namesake at the start line of each event and will be travelling to and fro to the badge locations to monitor things as well.
You *must* make physical contact with one of the judges. This can be an em slap, or just nudging them or whatnot but you can't just get the badge and scram.
There is one easy badge to get for each side (Patriot, Next Best Thing)
There is one moderate badge to get each side (Sweet Tooth, Purifier)
There is one "hard" badge to get each side (Unlucky, Unwelcome Guest)
I realize people will take shortcuts, that is why I implied as much about RWZ entrance, base portals and Pocket D and so on. It's fine. If the participants want a sg for the poters they can get themselves invited to their own SGs.
There *will* be other players there as well, so I do not expect it to be "smooth* for everyone, some people will impede others. I expect hospital trips.
That said, it's still a "for fun" event and the prizes aren't crazy enough for it to get too cutthroat (Micros are nice).
Good luck everyone.
