  1. Drats. Does anyone know how much time elapses between two spawns? Paragonwiki states that the time brackets listed on the official site's GM section are outdated, but I can't seem to find the new rates.
  2. Hey all,

I was wondering if any of you guys had any info on spawn rates for GMs. I know you can force-spawn some of them (Like Deathsurge or Caleb) but what about blueside ones like Adamastor or Jurrasik? I need some of those badges and I'd hate to have to rush-group to hunt them down, or plan a hunt with little to no chance of running into one.
  3. Alright, I can admit I might have missed threads about those changes. Still miffed I didn't get an email, but sh*t happens too, fine. Now, who do I contact to make sure it doesn't happen again? As I said, they DO have my email somewhere. I'd just like it if they used it when it really matters.

EDIT : I mean beside NC soft tech support. I've had a real bad track record of them doing their job without a Red Name getting involved. I'm sure Avatea is getting tired of playing referee. :-p
  4. I got a silly question here - am I the only one whose forum login and account login (NOT my in-game global, the handle I enter at the login screen) were changed with an "EU" attached to the front WITH NO NOTICE WHATSOEVER? I nearly freaked when I couldn't log into either the game or the forums this morning. If I hadn't gone to the NCsoft site to contact support, I'd never have known my game login had changed (and as for the forum, I just guessed. Lucky me.)

I know it's because I have a (very old and inactive) trial account on NA with the same account name, okay, that makes sense. Be that as it may, I don't remember seeing anything here about login changes, only globals. And in any case, (I could have overlooked it) how come I didn't get a freakin' email to warn me? Come on, you guys know where to find me when I update my security questions, it's not like you can't find me. What would you do with someone who doesn't check the forums?

Thanks for the reply, and thanks to anyone else who replies also. I probably won't do the respec until over the weekend sometime, so I'm still wanting to hear opinions.

My bad on Consume - you are perfectly right. Comes from having a Fire/Fire main I guess. And I did mean Hover, of course. That'll teach me to type after a full day's workload.

I can confirm the Hover/Hot Feet issue. That, plus Flashfire's dislike of flying targets, explains why you rarely see flying Fire Controller or Doms. But if your playstyle works with it, MPTY.

I'd be wary of the Leadership route, especially if you wanna try out Hot Feet. It's the kind of power that needs 4 to 6 slots to feel really useable (since it's such an end hog) and if you wanna run the Leaderships toggle as well, I fear you'll have either slot shortage or end issues, if not both.

Pity they didn't comment on why we still can't color/tint pool powers yet. I'm tired of having Hasten clash with my costume design.
  7. While I agree that the concern that one person buying the pack could spread it to 10 SGs is valid, I still think that the idea of a pack is interesting. As said, one reason Bases are neglected by Development is because its a niche part of the game and the time spent improving it would bring in few new players, hence little more money. So doing for free is pretty unlikely.

However, doing it as a purchasable pack, even if only 30 people buy it and use it to redo 300 SGs, is still around 300 bucks generated by a niche. That's more than NC soft gets from free stuff added to the game, and would raise the hapiness of returning customers. It may not generate as much money as the Animal pack, but it would generate some, and probably more than the Party Pack ever will.

But based on the fact that one purchase would affect multiple accounts, I strongly doubt they'll ever add anything functionnal like tailor interfaces to such a pack. Some of it came already with (admitedly late) vet rewards, the rest would be a mess to implement. So I can't really see Mission teleportes in-base, unless as suggested, its access was restricted to people who bought the pack and it remained a decoration for the rest (that idea I could see them implement actually, it wouldn't be that hard given what they can do already.)

All this rant aside, I'd LOVE to have such a pack, even with just decorative items. I'd pay for it if it contained a good amount of them, such as 40+ minimum for 8 bucks. I think such a pack could also contain some improved items that wouldn't add functions to the base but be better versions of the free ones (tintable lamps, tintable banners that don't necessarily take after the SG's colors, etc.)

I'd love to have options for the base entrance such as tech sliding doors or a wall portal like the ones in the RWZ (or the Portal corp ones for the CoP trial. ), alternative looks for the Energy and Control generators, and REAL, both-side-textured wall partitions and floor items, like the linoleum but better thought-out. As said, not having to use 600+ desks to make a loft would help the server load of big bases tremendously (though I can hear old-time base builders arteries bursting when they contemplate the wasted time they'd have put in those. ) Actual windows and glass panels would also be something I'd pay for.

EDIT : As for the rent part of things, I wouldn't do away with it. I would, however, drastically lower the influence to prestige conversion ratio. Since doing a mission gives my character about as much of both, I'd say a 3 to 1 or even 4 to 1 ratio would make it much more palatable while still making actual SG-mode gameplay a more profitable way to accrue it.
  8. I'd personally recommend Hot Feet, because aside from the AoE damage, it's saved my bacon a couple times from things that resist even perma-dom'd controls and hit hard in melee (I'm looking at you, Night Widows.) Even if you miss, stuff like Kriegers, Slag Golems or SE golem guys will hit you once then run away for a few seconds, which gives precious time to retry to Char them. I know I get far more milleage from it than my snipe, which I gave up on pretty fast on my Fire/Fire.

I got a question though - do you actually use Hasten? I mean, aside from a slot mule for LotG. I personally use Ninja Run and the Jump Pack from the GvE edition for really high stuff. Were I you, I'd switch it over for Stealth, which would save you yet two more slots and let you keep Whirling Hands. But that's a personal opinion, YMMV. Both Hot Feet, and WH, Fire Cages, Consume and Flashfire... You'd be a PBAoE death machine.
  9. 12 seconds? Damn, that's short. The corner option sounds doable though, since I used to Wormhole and Herdicane stuff all the time. I like that Bonfire has more utility than FB. Sounds like a good power to have to avoid a team wipe.

I, sir, have better gaming etiquette than this. I used to play a Grav controller, I got screamed at enough for Propelling a mob out of a patch.

Super Speed, stealth, and Flash arrow you can run up to AV's, click glowies, etc. you are the ultimate stealth tp'er.
I hate to point this out, but unless they changed the way it works in the last couple issues, none of the effects of Flash Arrow stack if cast by the same toon. All it'll do is reset the debuff duration. Still, it is and remains a great and far-too-underapreciated power.

    ice/ice leveling

I know it may sound silly, but do you use Chillblain? Its damage, though DoT, is somewhat decent, and it does help survivability insofar as most mobs (especially early 20s like the Freakshow) hit FAR less hard from a distance than they do in melee. Of course, don't target one on your ice patch, since it'll negate its mitigation, but it's also a nice way to keep that pesky Lt both off your back and under your Ice Storm.

When I hit that range with my Blaster, my tactic solo was to jump into a cluster of mobs, Ice Patch them, drop Ice Storm then jump back and Frost Breath the lot. Anything left standing I'd Freeze and Blast in relative safety. It made for a fun and bumpy ride, but then I'm a daredevil with my blasters.
  13. I know, the subject may seem crazy, but I'm seriously looking for opinions here.

Here's the thing : I took fire breath on my Fire/Fire dom as soon as I got access to it. It was my first real AoE, and it was Good®. But now that I have Fire Cages, Consume, Hot Feet, Flashfire and Combustion... Well, I find it a pain to jump out of melee to maximise FB's targetting. I'm pretty sure it hurts my damage output overall.

So, since I use Fire Cages anyway, I was wondering about switching FB to Bonfire, since FC would cancel its KB... I know its damage is much slower, but since most my Fire's powers use DoT, it would still fit. Plus, it hits a max of 16 targets over a 50' circle instead of 10 over a narrow cone...

So, what I'm interested in, is feedback. Who uses Bonfire, and who can give me info and/or opinions on using it regularly? your help is, as ever, much appreciated.
  14. If you guys have questions about visiting Vigilance, feel free to ask. Some of us do speak fluent English.
  15. I'd agree on the synergies between VEATs - but those come along pretty late, and frankly, the first 24 levels of gruntdom needed to turn your toon into a REAL epic tend to bore me to tears. However, crabs are absolute powerhouses and if you can get to that magical forced respec without giving up, you'll be well-rewarded.

Earth is a very beginner-friendly primary, and the -def secondary effect makes you REAL popular at low levels when slotting Acc can never be done enough. Quicksand is a gem, as are Stalagmite. Volcanic Gases can be tricky to master though. The golem is maybe the second most resilient pet (I'd put Singy up there) but won't help much damage-wise. Careful of some long animation times though.

Plant is a VERY visual set, with a lot of useful powers that tend to do repectable damage too. Seeds of Confusion and Creepers are absolute wonders, while Spirit tree and Spores are far more situational. The Venus pet is perhaps the stupidest I ever saw, use with caution.

Ice is an exotic flavour - most controls are soft ones, and Artic Air and Sleet are more about chaos and keeping the enemy busy than locking it down. Still, it can be VERY efficient, but it also tends to be VERY end-expensive to use.

Fire can be very effective if played aggressively - unlike Artic Air, you can't afford to sit in the middle of a spawn waiting for them to run away. Smoke is next to useless, but Flashfire and Hot feet can be devastating if used well. if paired with Fiery Assault, Fiery Embrace lets you underslot damage and focus on control in your powers since all of them benefit from its damage boost. The imps will pump up your damage like you wouldn't believe and are very good at keeping minions busy while you cremate the Lieutenants and Bosses.

Ice assault is a very vanilla assault set, nothing outstanding except for Power Boost - but Earth and Ice control doesn't benefit that much from it, unlike, say, Mind control (too many drop powers). It tend to be End-costly. But it gets the job done nicely, and has a nice ST/AoE balance.

Fiery Assault is a damage powerhouse, owning mainly to its special boost in Fiery Embrace - it pretty much doubles your Fire damage for a whooping 30 seconds. Consume is very useful when you use a lot of assault powers and need an End fix without wasting your Domination refill.

As said earlier, Fire/fire is a blaster on acid with some additional controls (think ice/ice blaster with fire damage and some perks.) I personally love mine, but it's a very squishy, very aggressive character - you need to be on top of things ALL THE TIME.

I could go on and on, but I'd get wordy. Feel free to ask questions though, always a pleasure to help !
  16. Hey all,

I was wondering if there was an equivalent to /stuck for mobs and NPCs? I've run into several cases of Tip hostages getting stuck in walls or ceilings while being escorted out, or mobs being knocked into a wall by some kind of KB power.

Is there any way of getting them out of there that isn't a make-do? I don't always have a toon with "TP enemy" or a Repel field available. :-p

I was able to solve endurance issues through slotting, which allowed me to use core musculature for the Alpha slot. I don't know if it can do quite as much single-target damage as Frosticus' build, but it looks to have better AoE damage and better selection/slotting in the control powers. There's probably more room for optimization, but I've been pretty happy with it so far.
I don't suppose you could paste it in here in extended format? Some of us don't have/can't use Mids to look up the awesomeness.

See, that's EXACTLY my point - what kind of situation could possibly justify maintaining NINE live accounts at the same time? Does he use a "toon of the day" calendar requiring 365 toons for the whole year? Even then, spreading them over several servers would cut down the needed number of accounts to MAYBE two...

No wonder money is an issue !

9 accounts? You actually need 9 accounts? Considering one can have up to 36 toons per account, does that mean you're running over 300 toons regularly enough to keep them all?

Man, and I thought I had severe altitis....
  22. I'm sure it's gonna piss off some people, but right now I feel like thanking the devs for cancelling today's maintenance. It may not be another winter event (which is good since I for one didn't want one) but it shows that sometimes voices are heard, and even if it's a small gesture, it's still one that matters. Also I think more people are gonna appreciate more plain playtime rather than some random event they don't care about on less playtime. I know I do.

So, to Avatea and any other redname who may read this, thank you.

    1. Unslot the current stuff?
    2. Remove it from the tray?
    3. Or just start re-crafting stuff?

Am a little afraid to do that as a casual player so if someone could be so kind as to spell it out for me that would be awesome.
    This.

Actually you could (with enough time, shards and NOTW) craft every single level of every tree of the Alpha Slot, and switch between them as needed (though I doubt you'd use anything other than tier-4 once you get them, but you still COULD get them all). There's no need to change, unslot or modify your currently-equipped alpha ability unless it's a needed component for the next tier you're crafting.

Just don't do what I did and use the shard that just dropped to craft in the middle of a fight - you won't be able to equip the new ability until you've been out of combat mode for a bit, or five minutes after your last switch, whichever is the longest. That stupid mistake almost led to a wipe on a Kahn TF.
