RIP
she was great in HUD and A Face in the Crowd. -
Someone should appoint Fury as official Market Forum Liaison with the greater CoH community.

is Blood Bowl still in print?
Loved that game back when it came out, we had a weekly league that met up in a friend's gaming basement. Super fun.
Actually, most of those old GW tabletop games were a blast to play- Space Hulk, Man o' War, Dark Future and my personal favorite Chainsaw Warrior.
One of my nerd buddies activated my jealousy gland a while back when he scored a mint unopened Chainsaw Warrior off Ebay for 75 bucks. -
propel is one of the most fun powers in the game.
i would love it to death if it were even a LITTLE BIT faster.
it's totally useless on teams because my target is always dead before I've even hurled my lamppost or writing desk. -

Another nearly 3-minute shootout in a hospital with the camera following. The first edit comes when bad guy Mad Dog enters the scene. The camera was sped up and slowed at various points by hand, so no digital tricks are being used. -
wait, I thought you said you weren't going to repost this stuff! >:

I don't think it can be a necro since any old thread that's here was returned by community request. =D
Last night we streamed a surprisingly interesting documentary on Oragami, Between the Folds, the Goat gives it two hooves up. -
Quote:No great mystery, I just generally dislike giving corporations free consumer research, especially corporations with whom I have a long, acrimonious history (I began my computing career on an Apple II). I don't trust Apple with any more data than I'm forced to share by virtue of owning an iPod.Hm. Would you mind explaining, either here or in PM, why letting Apple know what music you like is a bad thing? Like, I know the resistance to the government knowing what books you like, but Apple to music? Please fill me in.
Sorry for the minor derail, I am enjoying browsing the sets of the less obstinate forumites.

Quote:I explained my reluctance to engage iTunes that way by cleverly altering your quote.*Sigh*
People posting that they won't post has got to be one of the worst sins of forum use.
=(
Plus, Steve Jobs is a vile gnome and I resent that the ipod is so massively superior that I was forced to give him my business again. -
Quote:This whole thing is silly. Videogames are entangled with a lot of other cultural things. We have comics based on videogames, we have movies based on videogames, we have music based on videogames. By association, the Batman 3 thread shouldn't be allowed to exist because there are Batman videogames. Lost has a videogame. EVERYTHING has a videogame.
I think the rule is silly too, but it's certainly possible to discuss the book, comic, movie or whatever without reference to its attendant videogame. -
oh hey, I didn't notice this had suddenly become a general food thread.
here's my go-to recipe for fast, quite delicious red sauce. You can make it in the time it takes the pasta water to boil. Almost as fast as heating up some canned or jarred sauce, and tastes a million times better. Got it out of Cook's Illustrated.
Quote:Makes 3 cups, enough for 1 pound of pasta. Published May 1, 2009. From Cook's Illustrated.
This full-flavored tomato sauce takes only 15 minutes to prepare. High-quality canned tomatoes will make a big difference in this sauce. Our preferred brands of crushed tomatoes are Tuttorosso and Muir Glen. Grate the onion on the large holes of a box grater.
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup grated onion , from 1 medium onion (see note)
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
Table salt
2 medium garlic cloves , minced or pressed through garlic press (about 2 teaspoons)
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes (see note)
1/4 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
Ground black pepper
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat butter in medium saucepan over medium heat until melted. Add onion, oregano, and ½ teaspoon salt; cook, stirring occasionally, until liquid has evaporated and onion is golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Stir in tomatoes and sugar; increase heat to high and bring to simmer. Lower heat to medium-low and simmer until thickened slightly, about 10 minutes. Off heat, stir in basil and oil; season with salt and pepper. Serve.
I have an even simpler one, which goes like this:
gently sautee a few cloves of minced garlic in 2tbs of olive oil until fragrant, add a 28oz can of diced tomatoes (Hunt's is the best IMHO) cook until reduced, 8 or so minutes. Season with salt and pepper, serve over pasta of your choice. You can easily spice it up with fresh basil or whatever appropriate herbs you've got lying around. -

Quote:manodlines are nice but most of them are very sketchy to use- pretty much everyone I know who's got one has cut the **** out of themselves at least once.Bah! messy machines, those "food processors"... too many parts to clean!
mandolin
I needs to get me one
.
food processors aren't quite as nice for fine work, but they are a lot more versatile and they waste a lot less food.
I have both, I use the food processor way more often. -
Brisco, since Bruce Campbell rules.

Quote:The casting that would make or break the show was always Tyrion- I breathed a sigh of relief when I found out they'd gotten Peter Dinklage.Squeeeeee! Sean Bean Sean Bean Sean BEAN!!!! Too bad his part won't be for very long
Oh hey, here's an article on who's cast as who. -
And an excellent piece of advice someone gave a while back for beginning characters looking to earn inf is hit the Mission Architect.
Salvage and recipes don't start dropping for a while in the 'real' game, but you can stockpile tickets fresh out of the tutorial. The 10-14 Bronze pool is full of garbage, but also has several recipes that are super valuable at really low levels. -

Quote:but but but wait, I heard you were a monster who hated the community and wanted everyone to quit! That will change shortly. There have been a large number of requests to save threads by members of the community, I'm about to start processing them. The forum will be much busier soon.

it is appropriate that I was posting in a LoT thread about the 'death' of the superhero movie at the exact moment they pushed the button.

Quote:it's quite a bit different from WoW.Ive heard of people "playing the auctions" as a way of making mass amounts of currency. I would like some tips and tricks on this, as i'm not sure i understand how the auction system in coh works yet. it seems different than other mmo auction houses (namely wow)
For some fast, easy and relatively foolproof cash I suggest flipping generic IOs.
Pick something people actually want (damage, accuracy & end reduction are my favorites) at a popular level range (I like 30 and 50) and put in some lowball bids.
Let's say you see a last 5 in the 500k range, I'd bid in the 100k neighborhood.
What you're counting on is badgers who aren't worried about making inf flooding the market with excess supply- this happens all the time.
Check back in a day or two, you should have some winners.
Re-list for less than the 'last 5', in the case of our hypothetical 500k price I'd list around 260k.
It's a safe, relatively hands-off way to build up a bankroll.
