Another good way to find new stuff:
Seed a Pandora station with a band or bands that embody what you're looking for.
It consistently surprises me with great bands I've never heard of, and I'd say I pay fairly close attention to my chosen genres. -
The seller of the item you desire disagrees with you.
Quote:No flipper, the item sells for less to me or without having to wait for the real price. Is that inaccurate?
Reader's Digest, you're assuming you'll be able to buy at the bottom of the range at all times, which is not necessarily the case (especially with junk other players actually want).
Supply is not static and without stabilizing forces prices are subject to unpredictable spikes. Presuming supply will always be there when you want it at the price you expect to pay is Utopian logic. -
oh well, facts are facts.
to elucidate:
the flipper PAID MORE than you were willing to pay, which is a benefit to the seller.
and the flipper LISTED FOR LESS than anyone else was willing to list, which is a benefit to the buyer.
The flipper also maintains steady supply, which is a valuable service to all. -

I like the tech porters personally, but as long as they work I won't kick.

The flipper PAID more than anyone else was willing to for the flippable item.
The flipper then LISTED it for less than anyone else was willing to.
These indisputable facts undermine all character assassinations aimed at the kindly, helpful flipper.
The flipper provides a twofold good- paying sellers the highest price going and listing for the lowest price available.
Truly, the Flipper is a Hero of the Markets. -
Quote:It's a good concept, but not one that maintains interest once you've 'told the story' so to speak.I do not mean the movie...or the comic specifically...but the character overall...
Since comics require retelling and retelling and retelling the story ad infinitum, I'm with you on not feeling it. The concept isn't well suited to an open ended series IMHO. -
I'm rarely able to team because I'm nearly always 'on call' for whatever situation crops up with my 2 year old. When I am able to team I will always stick it out to the end of the mission regardless of how crummy/rude/annoying/un-fun the team is.
That's just good manners. -
Quote:Taking me, personally, as an example: I burnt somewhere around 10 billion inf recently. 8 billion on the base for the Loyal Opposition , a billion on the Crazy 88s, and I matched a few base builders. I am, by comparison to where I was this time two weeks ago, POOR. (I mean, I'm down to my last billion or something. Two weeks ago, I had characters with 500M sitting on them that I'd forgotten about. Seriously, there was a level 12 villain with half a billion that I hadn't logged in for two months.
Two weeks ago, I had very little incentive to make money at the market. If I needed something, I bought it, no big. I made money, because I played the game... I was increasing the money supply.
This week, I'm out there grabbing recipes for a million, grabbing salvage for 2 million [not 3, I'm not made of money or something] and selling the product for 10 million. I'm putting money back in my pocket out of everyone else's pockets [well, rich peoples' pockets... anyone who needs to keep track of the difference between 3 million and 10 million is not a customer of mine] and so, assuming that I'm going to hoard this new money until I'm comfortable again: I'm removing money from the economy.
Ditto.
It's an interesting feeling, caring about inf again.
Last night I needed a Deific Weapon so I automatically put up a lowball bid on a ten stack...and didn't have enough inf! Can't remember the last time that happened. I've also pillaged a bunch of unplayed alts- a few hundred million here, a few hundred million there, pretty soon you're talking *real money*.
My current thinking is to keep a billion 'liquid' on my main marketeers and funnel anything over that to the Crazy 88's on Monday of each new week. Destroying inf without really feeling the pinch, that's how I roll. =P -
I'll have another billion or two to throw on the fire come Monday.
-
i'm in SG mode for the moment because the amounts are amusing- when you're burning 500 million inf at a pop 6 for a minion is sort of cute.
i'll drop out when he gets up to a point where it adds up faster and proceed on pure inf power. -
Whew!
I did that once with something super expensive and made a tidy profit, but it's REALLY HARD ON THE NERVES. -

Quote:I'm perpetually amused by folk who say this or that activity is a waste of time.Ok, I see your point greystar. You think its a waste of time.
I mean, we're playing a video game...EVERYTHING we do in this context is a waste of time.
Inventing your own fun is as good a way to pass time here as any other. -
I'm on board because there's nothing left for me to spend inf on.
i've got all the uber-builds I want and nothing else costs enough to notice.
An arbitrary goal like get the SG to #1 on the back of pure marketeering appeals to me in the absence of anything 'real' to spend my fortunes on. -
Quote:And they said the Party Pack was overpriced....balderdash!Warning, do not look directly at the Vulture Capitalist while it is break dancing and/or grabbing its crotch. Some side effects, including pants wetting and muscle pulls, may occur.
=D
I'm going to be doing a little experiment with Capitalist- seeing how much prestige he can generate with an absolute minimum of leveling. -

Quote:moderation on these forms is mostly determined by who bothers to complain.Well then it would be nice if those mods were more consistent with enforcing that rule. I see people using 'so many words' to such baseless and underhanded accusations on this board all the time.
you can engage in relatively bareknuckle discussions with quite a few regulars because they're not going to run to crying to Moddy at the first intemperate rejoinder. Then there are others who start shrieking to the powers that be practically before you've hit 'reply'.
If you know the community fairly well trouble is easily avoided. -
Quote:there's not "right" or "wrong" way to make inf in this game, there are only efficient and inefficient ways.I have never seen any evidence that Nethergoat disapproves of any way of making inf in this game. I have seen evidence that Nethergoat believes, with good evidence, that none of the others are as effective in terms of inf earned per hour as the markets.
The market is by far the most efficient method because you earn while you're logged off.
But different strokes and all that- make it however you like, it all spends the same.
I do take exception to uninformed people who wander in here with bizarre unsupported pet theories about how things ought to work, or who set up a soapbox to lecture morality for a completely indifferent mechanical game system. =P
