  1. base salvage is its own special case.

but salvage in general has been borked for weeks thanks to a cascade of hyper-efficient MA PL farms.
  2. Would you trade it for a well-pummeled dead horse?

I'm running out of base storage for those.

In the scenario where there's a supply spike and suddenly you can't get one for less than 500k, like right now with all the MA farming decimating the supply of commons.

Flippers keep stuff in circulation, which exerts a calming effect on prices.

Can you explain in there really briefly how a flipper taking the low price and making that same item sell a second time for more means the end user gets it for a lower price? I think that bit is needed.
You assume that the low price is some kind of guarantee- it isn't.
The flipper got it by tying up a slot and being patient. Our friend the Casual Gamer wanders up to the market, says "oh hey I need a Runebound Armor!" and wants to buy it NAO.

If he happens along when supply is high, all well and good- he gets it for cheap.

If, on the other hand, he happens along when supply is *low*, he probably spits out his coffee and runs away screaming about eeebil manipulators ruining his fun.

The flipper ensures that whenever he wants to buy his junk he can get it more or less NAO at a 'reasonable' price. Of course if he's one of those rare Casual Gamers who has a modicum of patience, he can *still* get it cheaply, for exactly one inf over the flippers price floor.

Flippers are basically Supply Insurance for whatever niche they inhabit.

What they do with their play money is their business, what I do with my play money is my business.

    =)

Besides the 88's are (at least attempting) to perform a valuable game-wide service- the devs refuse to give us enough money pits to tame inflation, so we've made one of our own.

Maybe it'll inspire them...we eventually got merged markets, so who knows!
  5. GRATZ!

And I've bookmarked your blog, I love reading everyone's different market tales.

If the market is so simple, why in the world do you guys write all these guides?
which is no different from the game as a whole.
anyone can walk into a warehouse with any old character and bash a bunch of enemies on the head, so why all the AT guides?

Both the market and the core game are relatively straighforward- pretty much everyone can figure out enough 'on the fly' to do well.

Increased efficiency and the rewards it brings are open to all but require more attention and energy.

Just as not everyone has an IO'ed out farming brute (because that takes time, effort and intent), not everyone is going to make billions 'playing' the market.

But anyone who plays CAN have that brute and CAN earn billions marketeering if they make the effort.

No, the game doesn't hand you either of those rewards on a silver platter.
    Which is by design.

    it was an RMT derelict.

So what's worse than dueling gold spammers in the Atlas Wentworths?

How about the one standing right next to you rocking the aura while spamming his garbage.

    Grrrrrr!

I don't interpret that as supporting your belief that forums are some kind of sovereign right, but interesting to know they mention the forums specifically in the EULA.

OMG the bitter unfairness of life!!!

    Huh, where's it say that?

I mean, it's a good idea for a game to have 'official' forums, but it is in no way obligatory.

they had a pack, they chose a price, a bunch of people didn't like it, they still moved plenty of units.

Happytalk from the rednames wasn't going to change any of that.

The forum bug is annoying but they've said they're working on it, not sure what else they're supposed to do. Daily "uh still not fixed" updates wouldn't help anyone.
  22. I've gradually ramped up my MA farming over the last few months to the point where I'm ready to call it "efficient", although I'm still a fair bit short of SUPERefficient.

I can confidently say the behavior of efficient/superefficient MA ticket farmers is driven by one overriding imperative:

OMG HOW DO I BURN ALL THESE #$*%&$# TICKETS!!111

so, Rare salvage instead of common, even though at current market rates you'd make more inf on commons. Gold rolls instead of Bronze, even though the odds favor bronze....you'd rather delete one crummy 4k ticket Slow recipe than sort through a few dozen Bronze rolls.

That's the difference between hitting the map ticket cap in ~30 minutes with my AR/Dev or hitting the inventory ticket cap in ~30 with my axe/fire tank.

I'm probably going to sell 'em all off after my I19 respec and replace 'em with purples, just because I can. =P

    very cool experiment Rod!

I'll point out though that going for the fast sale inordinately favors high volume stuff like salvage.

I make bank on MA bronze rolls, but I craft them all and although I do price them to move, I also want to maximize profits, which can take a day or three.

Being *slightly* patient with one fairly valuable IO can make you several million inf, which would drastically tilt the field in favor of recipes.

I should dedicate a few runs to this experiment and see what the ticket value of my stomping grounds the 35-39 Bronze roll is, factoring in crafting and patience....

The market is a very simple system. The in-game help provides ample guidance to get started. The pretense that it presents an impossibly complex face to new players is comical.
