Hm, the thing about casting Superman is to find someone that obviously looks like the Man of Steel but can also convey the presence of the Man of Steel. Christopher Reeve had that presence, Brandon Routh....not quite at the same level as Reeve but was still a good Superman (it was the script/plot of Superman Returns that was lacking).

Cavill looks like he can capture some of the presence and does have the appearance to suit up. We shall see.

And for someone that does not have the presence or appearance to play Superman, please do a google search for Nic Cage as Superman. Seeing Cage dressed as Superman is good for a laugh.

Brock had cancer and the symbiote didn't want an unhealthy host. Other reasons exist as I recall.

Also, even Brock and the symbiote were not immune to the effects of the Mephisto mindwipe.

However if good temp powers were associated with it maybe. Another problem with new ones is if there is one new one there needs to be 2 cause of accoaldies if they are going to stay with the trend they set up.
I don't want new ones either, but after looking at all the dayjobs and what they grant vs. what was recently added to the game the only possible new ones I can think of involve tips and shard drops.

Nope, Franklin's quasi-infinite-Deus Ex Machina-cosmic rewriteable-already saved everyone from dying in the onslaught-and later revived Galactus powers and WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THEN MEPHISTO powers are back online.

Reed keeps the mutant known as Leech near Franklin to dampen his powers.

Not bad, except that for all the times the Android Torch has been blown apart his operating system always remains intact, even if it at times his reboot time is a bit slow...

Also I snicker at the articles that state the MU will never again hear the cry of "Flame On" when the Android Torch is the one that coined that saying......
  7. No biggie, i suspect his "death" has a loophole in it, and besides the Android Torch from the Golden Age is still online pending the outcome of Invaders Now #5.
  8. Not surprised it would be the Human Torch. Besides if they need the Fantastic Four to reunite, the original Android Human Torch was revived the other year and is still online.

Also, only Captain Mar-Vell stays dead.

    Day Jobs Over.

    Two day job ideas:

    1. Log out in the base where hero/villain merits are redeemed for 21 days and the dayjob increases Tip Mission drop rate, or instead a chance of a tip mission being awarded upon completion of any mission.

    2. Log out for 21 days and receive dayjob that either increases shard drop rate or instead awards bonus shards upon completion of any mission. As to where to log out for that....aside from standing next to the contact in Ouro I'm not sure where else would be fitting for this.

As a "corporate executive" we could assume she'll be financially well off and able to afford tech-toys like Bruce Wayne. If this is the case then the invisible jet could be easily be "explained" as being more like a super-stealth 007-like jet that she keeps in a hidden corporate hanger.

Again that's just a guess based on the nearly zero-info we have about this. Hopefully they'll spill some real details as soon as they can.
Problem with her magic items going tech is that it pretty much would change the character completely. She is supposed to have the strength, speed, stamina, etc of the gods similar to Captain Marvel/Shazam. So if she is just a tech user like Batman then she would likely not have the speed-reflexes-timing-hand eye coordination needed to deflect bullets or beams with her bracelets. How would the lasso of truth work if it were tech based? By electro shocking the person into telling the truth? Seems like torture and I doubt that would last for long on the networks.

They could have it where she comes from her homeland of the Amazons, armed with her magic weapons, etc. and decides that in order to effectively fight evil in "man's world" that she must learn the ways of "man's world" and that could include creating and running a business empire that she in turn can use its resources in her fight. Given that she and the other amazons are supposedly immortal she could have left her homeland decades ago and spent that time building her corporate empire. This could also be used to show her fighting the Ratzi's in the 40's then returning to her business for a time after the war and then emerging again the present to pick up the fight again.

Yeah that showed how she got it and would retain it for JLU episodes, but still.......its just not needed for a live action show. Where is she going to store it? How is she going to fuel it? Etc etc etc. Her strength and durability rival Superman's so she should be able to fly around the world on her own power like he can and not need the jet.

Just let her fly like Superman.

Sounds like some kind of "powered" version of Wonder Woman to me.

Again I'm not going to get too excited about this either way until we see more about it. I'm sure no matter what form this thing takes there will be people who like or dislike it for dozens of reasons. I'm willing to give it a chance before I assume the worst.

Prophecies tend to be open to multiple interpretations. The prophecy about Anakin being the Chosen One of the Force wasn't fully stated in the movies, but I think the Ep 3 novelization gave some more of it, and the prophecy did not state that the Chosen One would not be a Jedi....go figure.

Still the prophecy of the one as was given in Matrix 1 sounded complete but again, it wasn't the whole prophecy as shown in Matrix Reloaded when Neo got more information from the Architect, and then gets yet the other half of the puzzle from the Oracle in Revolutions. Proof that a little knowledge can and will be dangerous.

Also, was I the only one that watched Matrix 1 when it first came out and deduced at that time that the Oracle was a program? That revelation in Reloaded sure seem to catch a lot of people by surprise. To me though, she couldn't know what she knows about the One or the prophecy and be a rebel from Zion, she'd have to be a program or else the Agents would be after her all the time. Now granted I didn't figure that she was the "mother" of the Matrix until Neo's chat with the Architect.

Smith however is the agent that appears to be gifted/programmed with a bit more cognitive thought processes then the other agents as he was the one to make certain leaps of logic and independent thought as shown in Matrix 1 and then resist the order to recycle himself after Neo blew him up and came back as a viral agent. It sounds like the Architect knew Smith would reject the recycling and upgraded Smith but didn't anticipate Smith going viral.

Also the humans that are bred by the machines in the fields of Earth......are the machines simply cloning humans or are they taking the reproductive material from the captive humans and thus creating new humans to be harvested? If the human race in the fields is really a bunch of clones then could all of "the Ones" that have arisen merely been versions of Neo? If so then perhaps every generation they create another Neo clone to restart the cycle of the Prophecy of the One so that they can reboot the Matrix and slaughter Zion?

Many questions and interpretations of the events. Granted I have not sat down and listed to all the commentary from the Wachowski's that are on the DVD's.

The story sure looked to be over at the end of Revolutions, but the door is left ajar for a follow up movie.

As to prequels: here's an interesting thought: Smith clearly was the "alpha" of the agents. He seemed to be the one that would think more then the others and seemed to be the one in charge up until Neo blew him to bits in Matrix 1, then he comes back as a viral agent for the sequels.

Is that Smith's fate with all five previous versions of the Matrix that the Architect said existed? Is Smith constantly rebooted and mind wiped with each version of the Matrix?
  16. This was a hilarious read, thanks.

Now that we have features like Flashback and Crossover almost all defeat badges can now be easily finished point system or no point system. Yeah but some of the defeat badge criteria is still a bit of overkill: 1000 monkies, 1000 LB, 333 Cage Consortium.....

So who were the other 5? Clones of Neo? Different people? It was apparently his love for Trinity, per the Architect, that made Neo seek a third path to ending the conflict.

Also here's a thought: The machines seem pretty intelligent and capable, surely they have the technology to remove the scorching from the sky that the humans inflicted?

I enjoyed all three and never understood the hate. Sure, Matrix 1 could have just stood on its own, but like Yogurt said in Spaceballs, "Perhaps we shall meet again in Spaceballs 2: the search for more money".

Seriously though, despite being able to stand on its own Matrix 1 screamed "SEQUEL" so it was inevitable that sequels would come.

Now with the jumps in FX tech and 3D tech since the Matrix Trilogy was done, a return to the Matrix was inevitable.

The hate stems from fan expectations being too high, similar to the Star Wars prequels.

Matrix Revolutions does leave the door open for Neo to come back, but the door is only open about a millimeter

I like the idea. The "Matrix" was just the set up.

As for Neo, I think it was pretty well established that the physicality of the "real world" doesn't necessarily = the Matrix. Even if Neo's physical body was destroyed, he, like other "programs" without a "real world" presence, can still exist in the Matrix.

    Rich
Can Neo still exist after what happened at the end of Revolutions? Yes.

Does Neo still WANT to exist? No. Quite likely he is downloaded and stored in the Matrix code, but is dormant and won't awaken pending some major catastrophe.

Also the machines did take his body away, perhaps they will clone him and then download him back into it?

Some Matrix fans also postulate that the "real world" was just another level of the Matrix, an illusion beyond the illusion. If that were the case, Neo could still be alive, but in yet another illusory reality, or perhaps even completely disconnected from the Matrix and in the real real world.

I'll be keeping my eye on this. The Matrix was the film that changed how, and why, I watch movies, so I'm always keen to see news about it.
I agree that it is possible that Neo was downloaded at the end directly into the machine code of 01, the machine city. However, for Neo to return.....I dunno. He seemed to lose a good portion of his will to live when Trinity died, and he already was planning on making the supreme sacrifice to stop Smith, only this time he was ready to die. The Oracle did tell Neo that he should have been killed when he disconnected from himself when he blew up the drones at the end of Reloaded, but that he wasn't quite ready to die. At the end of Revolutions, he was quite ready to die. So, what motivation will Neo have to return?

Also that whiny kid could also be the next One. In Animatrix, the Kid's Story tells us how he was saved by Neo and crew, only this kid survived dying in the Matrix even as he was rescued. Surviving death in the Matrix seems to be a key factor to being the One.

Still, we'll see. Could be interesting.
  23. Well I like how that site mentions that John Wagner visited the set and liked what he saw.

The movie is currently in production, filming in South Africa. Just recently co-creator John Wagner visited the set and had this to say about Urban's Judge (via Wagner's facebook):

"I just had a brief conversation with Karl, he's much too hard at work to spare a lot of time. There was one shot where the camera focused in on his face, a reaction to Anderson, and I swear Carlos could have drawn that scowl."

If a creator of Dredd is pleased, that is a good sign.
